Walked over on a Friday night and they were so kind to serve us near closing time. Waiter was super friendly...but THE FOOD! You can tell Leah has a passion. Fresh food & quality ingredients. I don't think there's anything on the menu that you could go wrong with. Boyfriend had short ribs (said they were so good he would have paid double) I got fettuccine, yum! Don't go to this restaurant hungry or else be prepared to spend a week's salary here. They have a no tipping policy so if you do not get good service you are still forced to leave a tip. I just wonder if they just can't keep a waitstaff. Our waiter seemed like he had been working there for 5 minutes. Yes. The food is good. But the prices are super high and the portions tiny (I guess so that the owner can pay a fair wage?) but we aren't going back to find out if it got better. read more

The only way I can describe the food here is weird. It's like the chef is trying to get creative with new combinations but it just doesn't turn out well. It's very expensive so I expected better food. It's a cute restaurant and I like the open kitchen lay out. If the food was better I'd eat here more but it just wasn't up to par. read more

This place is very cute, had excellent service and mostly delicious food. We had the duck, trout and salmon entrees we were not fans of the salmon (too much vinegar??) but the duck and trout perfection. Strawberry festival sangria was amazing! Just went to Bramble House for brunch again. It was a last minute idea for this morning. With the ferry ride and Saturday morning traffic, it took less than 40 minutes to get there. The Bramble Scramble was really good, especially pretty with the fresh local eggs. I had the green giant hot tea in a pretty green tea cup. All was great as usual, we go a lot. We wanted a nice quiet brunch so we looked online and found this little gem. Very cute and cozy atmosphere. Nice decor and easy parking. They really paid attention to the details. Everything from the fancy silverware to the boutique plates to the small plant on the table made everything feel great. Service was top notch. Brunch was really good. I recommend the pasta carbonara and citrus salad. Both solid. Portions are fairly small but packed with flavor. Everything could be a little cheaper or more food. They include gratuity with the price but it's still steep. I would go back and try dinner. The menu looked legit as well! read more

The chef created a special menu for us, came to check in with us and even let one us peek into her kitchen. This small, cozy restaurant north of the town of Vashon on Vashon Island can only be called exquisite. It may be hard to get in, because the word is out. The service is five-star along with a perfectly detailed presentation. Menu choices may be a bit more limited than what you're used to, but all the starters and mains sounded wonderful. My husband ordered the mixed mushroom soup which was delicately flavored and full of large, meaty slices cooked to perfection. I had the polenta, a generous portion size covered with a chunky mushroom and tomato sauce and topped with a dollop of cream. It was more than I could finish even though I would have loved to. The cutlery was beautiful and the dishes looked like carefully collected fine China remnants. We ended with a pot of French press coffee to share between us. If you're hungry you will be very disappointed. Reason - slow service and small portions. We ordered take out because of the pandemic. We arrived on time to pick up our food, we checked in and they said they're just putting it together now and should be a couple of minutes. TWENTY minutes later our food was ready. We got home and opened the containers. The $12 soup was not even a full cup (we measured 3/4 cup). The $12 tomato salad and $10 mixed green salad were similarly small portioned. The main dishes were over-priced, as well ($29 for fettuccine, $34 for half-chicken), though the portion size was okay. read more

Pretty fabulous. We've had two meals there. The sweet pea soup is very nice, the beets delicious, smoked fish salad good not great, the duck and the steak just amazing. I'd pick the steak over the duck, the tomato reduction cut the fat of the steak, i just wish they'd give you a nice piece of crusty bread to soak up the drippings. It was plate licking good. I loved the decor and the mixed china. One of our servers was a bit surly though and my chilaquiles had to be taken back when they weren't brought with scrambled eggs as I asked. When they came back out, the tortillas were limp and neither my husband or I were impressed with the breakfast. If we come back to Vashon I would return for dinner, since it such a beautiful restaurant and there were so many other positive posts about the food. I'm just sad we picked brunch instead of dinner and didn't have the best experience. read more

Posted this on Facebook, but 5 days later and I'm STILL thinking about this meal, so wanted to post here also... The Seattle restaurant scene's best-kept secret is that one of our best restaurants is actually on Vashon Island. Chef Lia perfectly marries local flavors and textures in ways that are unique and at the same time totally accessible -- the setting is charming and the service is warm, approachable and completely unpretentious. Menu is super-seasonal and so changes all the time; I'll be heading back over as soon as I can -- it's seriously food worth taking a ferry for!! Was there last Friday and had the corn soup as a starter -- her soups are ridiculous, you will want to lick the bowl -- the shrimp (cooked with just a little chili oil) on a bed of manchego cheese risotto, and for dessert, the Mexican Chocolate Pudding (with just a touch of cinnamon and chili and some decadent fudge) that was so good it seriously made me want to start to speak in tongues. We booked our regular Airbnb in Vashon Island last weekend and came upon a Brunch place called Bramble House! We lucked out and was seated in a 2 person table by the window of this quaint English's tyke bungalow. We had the duck Casiquellos and the Bramble Scramble ! Some English tea and coffee and viola! Happy Sunday Brunch! Just what we needed after. 2 hour hike down to the Maury Island Beach Trail! Yummy and filling ! Totally recommend this place but make reservations ! read more

The food here was sensational! We had our tenth anniversary dinner here In September and I have nothing but praise for the staff, the setting, and the food. We had several dishes and they were all lick-the-plate delicious; the risotto was particularly outstanding. The restaurant is intimate and cozy in a charming craftsman home. Great service from an attentive staff made for a perfect meal. One thing to note: prices on the menu reflect gratuity already added. No need to leave a tip! Local as much as possible with three small farms doing their very island best to keep up with demand. Private rooms of all sizes down to a two person or up to a 12 seater for private gatherings. Small menu and small wine list however Each item, wine or food is so well done. In 1 word: Disappointed. We love food, love to cook and love finding new gems in restaurants. For all the hype and price what was delivered was truly disappointing. The quality and flavors were average, but nothing to rave about and certainly not worth the price. We have enjoyed La Boucherie (fine-dining local restaurant nearby) on numerous occasions which is pricey but worth every cent -- Bramble House is not that. Nor is it on par with Seattle restaurants with this pricing and similar offerings - I wish it were. To add to the disappointment, dessert was so-so. We ordered 2 desserts, and sent one back, which we rarely send food back, and although it had only one small bite taken (which resulted in me making a horrid facial expression) we were still charged for it in full, and with the gratuity-included policy that meant we paid gratuity on food we did not even eat. It's one saving grace is the wine menu, but this is not a place to go just for wine/drinks. Wanted to like you, wanted to support you, but we'll go elsewhere for more gratifying experiences. read more

We went for brunch, and everything I ate was phenomenal. The coffee was stellar, the scones absolutely scrumptious, and the braised duck chilaquiles were the best chilaquiles I've ever had, even better than what I've had in mexico. Our server on the other hand was very somber, never smiled, and kind of just seemed uninterested. But the food was so good, I'm willing to ignore that and still give this place a 5 star rating. This is probably one of my favorite places now overall in the greater Seattle area, definitely in the top 10. read more

Just came to vashon island for a couple nights. It being the end of the summer, and traveling with a chef, we were looking for a restaurant that featured the wonderful produce we had seen at farmstands driving the island during the day. This is the place. We sat at the kitchen's "counter" and the chef Lia, welcomed us warmly. We asked her what she was excited about on her menu right now, and she immediately directed us to dishes featuring local corn, tomatoes and island caught scallops. Our first course, a corn soup, was toasty, clean and perfectly seasoned. Fresh corn, sweet as can be, and crispy crunchy shredded chorizo brought texture and nuance. Next was a salad featuring three varieties of local tomatoes with house made mozzarella and swiss chard perfectly dressed with simple lemon an oil. Beautiful dish, and maybe some of the best tomatoes I've had all summer. Our main dishes were also simple, elegant and well executed. A seafood stew with perfectly poached halibut and local scallops in a delicate saffron fumé neatly tied together with local roasted tomatoes (again winning). The housemade fettuccini with braised rabbit highlighted perfect pasta in a buttery sauce, but maybe could've used more olives to make it pop. All in all this was an exquisite meal. The locally made Palouse Golden Pearl, was a beatifully golden Viognier that paired well with everything, even our panna cotta dessert. read more

So..... The Bramble house is a very cute place with some good things going for it, but..... Unfortunately the but is the portion size (eg:very small for the price - a small cereal bowl with risotto and 3 overcooked shrimp for $24) and the prices. We came over from Seattle to try it and were rather disappointed. The service was awkward- a very nice young woman who appeared to be new to the job. Lots of reaching across customers...oh well. Best food on Island, I think (ok, a bit of oranges/apples comparison with May's, but...). Chef worked in NYC at high end restaurants so she mixes NY pizzaz with the more bucolic Vashon style.
