I recently took my dog in for shots and a checkup and had extremely bad service from one of the doctors. She spent the entire time complaining. Complete waste of my time. Dr Murray is incompetent And a LIAR!!! I would not recommend seeking help from her to heal an ANT!!! She is unreasonable and makes determinations about your pets demeanor based on if You've historically requested and PAID to have your pet sedated, so that they could be comfortable during an exam. NOT that they had to be sedated to control!!! She has little to no experience with managing the care of large breed dogs And is actually afraid of them!!! River Run needs to FIRE her and seek out professional who enjoy caring for pets!!! read more

My boxer had a 1" gash on his back. I took him to river run. After arriving we waited close to an hour before being seen. The doctor checked his heart rate looked him over and said she would be able to see the wound better once he was shaved, and stated they would be charging me $650.00 dollars for treatment, I politely declined and left. Once I left they called to bill me $138.00 for an emergency visit which I eventually paid after explaining how ridiculous that was. I then went home and shaved my dogs wound and applied a 10 dollar glue on suture and started him on amoxicillin. Horrible experience! read more

This vet is very professional and honest, especially in emergency situations. I took one of my dogs to a different emergency vet at first (called ahead) then when we arrived 30 minutes later, they were at capacity and turned us away. I frantically tried figuring out another place to go which is difficult to do on a Sunday because the majority of veterinary centers are closed. After scrolling on my phone for what seemed like forever I found River Run Animal hospital which is a primary vet with a urgent care unit. I gave them a call and explained the situation. I was lucky enough that they did make an appointment and we got the last urgent care appointment for the day, which is great because it was about a 40 minute drive. We had a little bit of time before heading that way for our appointment so we headed home. We were home for less than an hour when Maggie's vomiting started to contain some blood. I cleaned it and her up as best as I could so my other dog wouldn't get in it and left to head to this appointment. We arrived 35 minutes early for our appointment. By the time we got there her body temperature was dropping, she was turning purple, and very lethargic. Water was always available to her all day but when she drank some she couldn't keep it down and she ultimately stopped trying. They took her to the back immediately and did a chest X-ray since I informed them she has a heart condition and kidney condition. They place her in a kennel that constantly blew oxygen in to help her breathe. They informed me that from the X-ray her heart is no longer heart shaped but circle shaped and there is a tons of fluid surrounding it. The veterinarian came right out and stated (without me asking) she is in pain and suffering right now, it is probably the time to consider to let her go. This straight forwardness is something my husband and I appreciate although it broke our hearts to hear those words in reference to our 6 year old baby girl. The veterinarian also said that another option would be to transfer her somewhere where she will be in an oxygen ventilated kennel for the night to be seen by a cardiologist the next day, however, the veterinarian also stated the clinically the odds of her making it through the night were extremely low. After some tears and calling my husband to come to the vet, we decided that as much as we want to keep her with us it was better for her to say goodbye. They brought her to us wrapped up in a fuzzy blanket like she loves and we spent 15 minutes with her telling her how much we love her and how sorry we are before they gave her the injection. They allowed us to make the decision whether we stayed with her during the injection or not. We stayed and witnessed her last breath. The veterinarian was very informative of what to expect before and during the injection process. They allowed and encouraged us to grieve where we found fit best for us and as long as we needed even after she was clinically gone. We decided to have her cremated and chose a beautiful urn with a picture frame. Not that the price mattered for us, the cost for the cremation and urn wasn't too bad. Thank you Dr. Adwell and team for your professionalism, and loving caring heart. I only wish you had been able to get to know Maggie before this. read more

This place was awful. I brought my cat in yesterday morning for an emergency. They immediately took him back and got vitals. I called to see what his temp was as the reg. Vet couldn't find that info. I was told it was on the paperwork then was told they didn't take it because he was being fussy however, when the doctor came to talk to us she said he was being calm and just chilling in the back. At Sycamore Square he got a full examination with a more in depth blood draw for nearly half the price. read more

We followed Dr. Adwell here from her previous practice, and today was our first visit to River Run. As always, Dr. Adwell provided expert care in her warm, friendly manner. She took the time to answer all my questions and make sure all my concerns were addressed; the visit was not rushed, as we've sometimes experienced from other veterinary providers. I was also impressed with the veterinary assistant, Emily, who welcomed us, as well as the front desk staff. Everyone was welcoming and accommodating, and understanding that my rescue dog has some "stranger danger" issues! With Dr. Adwell's help and patience, though, the exam went smoothly, which is a big deal for my reactive dog. I will say, they're not a low cost vet... but you usually get what you pay for. I made an appointment three weeks ago, I showed up to my appointment five minutes early sat in a room for 30 minutes, no one ever came in to see me or let me know what was going on. So I promptly left the office and told the woman at the front desk that I waited for 30 minutes and no one came in to see me. No one came out or apologized or followed me to my truck to let me know that there was an emergency going on. When I left they called my wife and said that I was notified there was an emergency going on and they didn't understand why I had left and that was incorrect and false. The person on the phone was snotty with my wife and never apologized! I called the office to let them know that what they just told my wife on the phone was incorrect and that no one ever came into the room to let me know that there was an emergency and that I don't appreciate lies being told. I will never go back to this veterinarian clinic the people at the front desk need to be more professional read more

So we've been taking both our dachshunds here. They are no longer a 24 hour emergency vet. But they charge like it. I got home and looked at my $380 bill for what I already knew would be an expensive blood test. At last minute I asked if they could clip his nails and express the anal glands. I was charged $62.37. My experience has been $15-30 for both at most. I was already there for an expensive blood test and meeting with his vet. I'm dumbfounded. read more

The entire staff here is so kind and caring. They were able to get us in to see the doctor right away on the weekend and throughly examined and diagnosed his problem presenting us all our options. When the time came to say goodbye to our wonderful sweet boy, they could not have been more caring even as they were so so busy. read more

We had to take our sweet kitty, Lola, to River Run last night at 11pm when my husband found her lethargic and barely alive on our front porch. The staff and Dr Sayed were all extremely kind and empathetic... which was especially important because our 11 year old daughter was with us and extremely upset. Although our Lola was too bad off to be saved, Dr Sayed made us feel better about our decision to put her down by reassuring us that it was the best thing to do for Lola, who was in a lot of pain. The staff then gave us a book with Lola's paw print, and a lock of her hair in a small bottle with angels on it, and a card signed by all of the staff. I would most definitely recommend River Run to anyone for regular or emergency vet care. read more

I went here today for the first time. All of the doctors and nurses and receptionists were very kind and helpful. They put my mind at ease, and they were very efficient and quick (even though I was there for the Urgent Care, which usually means long waits), and very insightful. They were very comforting when dealing with a 46 year old man who was practically in tears over his cat. I've definitely found my permanent vet for my fur babies. Highly recommended. read more

Love this place. The older of our two dogs, Eomer, had previously been a patient of the former vet who was located here. Every time we'd get in the car and head in the direction of the vets office rather than the park he'd get very mopey and very whiny and was always visibly upset in the office. We now see the new Vet practice that uses the old building. Both our dogs love them. We've used both Dr Murray and Dr Nash. They're both amazing. Eomer actually gets super excited as soon as he realizes we are going to his doctors' office. Everyone is so nice and helpful, and spoil my fur babes with treats galore and lots of pets. Called to make an appointment to take my dog in for an emergency service on a Sunday, which I appreciate was available on a weekend. When we brought our dog in, Kayla and Corbin at the front desk did not acknowledge our presence, literally crickets when we walked in so we sat down. A few minutes later, Corbin said "hello, is this (dog's name)?", I said yes then Kayla made us take our dogs weight, which we could've easily gotten wrong. The first of MANY red flags. Second, they took my dog back, we waited 15 minutes for the doctor to come in and he was nice (Dr. Parker) and gave our pup lots of pets. Very quick encounter with him but he ended up taking our dog back for emergency surgery to remove a lump on his stomach. We waited in the waiting room while he's back there removing the bump; another patient/pet parent comes up to the front desk and starts asking questions and noting concerns to Kayla, which she lets him talk for 2 minutes before interrupting him saying, "oh he can help you, talk to him" referring to Corbin, the other front desk person. Rude and absolutely NOT personable at all. She should not be at the front desk if she cannot do her literal JOB???!!!. Anyways, surgery is complete. My dog didn't wake up. They asked my husband to go back there and try to wake him up, didn't budge. The vet then says, "well sometimes for heavier dogs we give them big doses to put them to sleep so he should wake up." No confidence at ALL in the doctor, and they made me take his weight. I could've taken it wrong resulting in them giving him a bigger dose of anesthesia. We sit for about an hour longer, my dog finally wakes up. The vet assistant then comes out and says, "he is up. we are closing soon so you are free to take him whenever he can walk." A few minutes later, he comes stumbling out, mouth open, lost as hell. The vet assistant is like "since we are closing, you can give us a call when we open at 8. He should be fine on the way home but will sleep in the car and when he gets home." My dog's legs give out since he's still pretty doped up and she says "did you need to go get your husband so he can carry him out to the car?" Did not care that my dog just FELL in the waiting room. Absolutely apathetic, impersonal, and ready for us to leave since the office closed in 30 minutes. If I could give them negative stars, I would. I am never taking my animals to this clinic ever again and wouldn't recommend any family, friends, or ANYONE to go here. They treat you as a number, they don't treat you like they care about your furbabies. This place sucks and Elam should've remained open. read more

This place is perfection. Moved here from NC where they gave 3 year rabies vaccines. I have 2 cats who are 8 years old and freak out during transport and vet visits. This vet office will allow me to opt for the 3 year rabies vaccine AND they are open late to accommodate my work hours. They took such great care of my cats and were so accommodating. read more

We had an excellent experience here! The front staff was very friendly and helpful during our entire visit. I came in with a large dog and two kids. They offered to help me so I could fill out new patient paperwork instead of juggling everyone. Also, everything is new and clean! We saw Dr. Sayed for an injured leg on our dog. She was very thorough and detailed in her examination and treated our dog with lots of love. While our dog requires surgery from an orthopedic surgeon, Dr Sayed gave us some surgeon recommendations and told us which ones may be more expensive than the others, all while saying they were all great surgeons. This past Sunday our dog, Coach needed immediate care. Our normal Veterinarian was not open and we had to find a clinic that that could see Coach. River Run graciously made time to fit him in on Sunday before they closed. The Veterinarian and the entire staff took care of Coach and referred him to a great 24-hour ICU hospital after they took X-Rays and saw that he needed emergency care. I have been bringing my dogs to River Run for some time. I have had a total of 5 dogs with them, 2 have passed and 3 are still going there but no longer. Every time I need an appointment it is a month out but they sure are willing to get you in for an urgent visit and charge you a whole lot more. It's "can't see you for some time but we can see you today or tomorrow for the higher fee." I had a issue come up that I needed my dogs to be kenneled and their appointment for lab and shots and to address a foot issue on one of them was two weeks away. I called to ask if I could just get shots updated, no need to see the vet right away and would be back in two weeks for the scheduled appointment. I was told I could bring in as an urgent visit and pay the higher fee. Their fees as compared to a number of other offices, just for a regular visit, is higher than most already. There is no customer service or relationship here with you. I would look somewhere else where the practice wants to keep you as a customer. read more
