The time spent explaining options was adequate to give me the information I needed to make a decision, while not wasting any time. All bases were covered from financial to time involved as well as pain level. And the doctors and nurses were right on the money. I am the worst dental patient. But the surgeon was quick and provided an explanation each step of the way so I understood what to expect. There was another doctor in the room and she kept me at ease so the experience was relaxing when it could be. Great job to all. I unfortunately know I have future procedures to do, but I know for certain where I will be getting them done.

I did see another doctor, Dr. Hallinan, for my initial consultation, but he was not available for my oral surgery timeline. I was able to make an appointment with Dr. Chambers for the next day. Dr. Chambers and Gaige (dental assistant) are the best! Extremely professional! Dr. Chamber's was very thorough and made sure I understood everything. While my procedure was occurring he constantly made sure I was ok and explained everything he was doing and any noise I was hearing. He even called later that day to make sure I was ok! A member of the office staff, Daisy, also called the following day to make sure I was doing ok. Dr. Chambers assistant, Gaige, is an outstanding assistant! He is very professional and extremely articulate for such a young man. I thought he was older and had been working in the field for several years. When Dr. Petrunich came in, he checked the tooth and quickly said that it looks as it hasn't fully grown out yet (not true as my referring dentist informed otherwise and I saw my xrays). I heard him whisper something to the dental assistant behind me. That made me feel very uncomfortable, made me wonder why he would whisper in the presence of a patient. He then began injecting numbing medicine. He gave me three injections (waited about a minute between each one. I had the feeling he was rushing as it was late in the afternoon) and numbing never happened. He eventually said he was going to tug on it a little to see if I would feel anything; it hurt as if metal was being pulled through my tooth. He then said that he is going to have to reschedule so they could put me to sleep. I have had several dental surgeries done in the past and never put to sleep or given anything to calm me. Ever since he pulled on my wisdom tooth, I have had random ear pain on that same side. I left Petrunich's office and scheduled an appointment with another dental surgeon I had seen in the past, even though he was now out of network. He immediately popped the wisdom tooth out within minutes. Never felt any pain or aches afterwards either.

I was referred out to Dr. John Vakkas to get all (4) of my wisdom teeth pulled out. We live in s…read more central Pennsylvania, so the drive to Ephrata, PA office was around 3 hours. The front office was nice as well as the nurse who took me back. I forget her name, but I do remember she said she was polish, anyways she was amazing and kind and happy. I absolutely loved her. Then I met Dr. Vakkas and was totally cool and down to earth and just explained to me what the procedure was going to consist of. I felt at ease and comfortable. *The day of surgery. My daughter so happened to wake up with a swollen face I took her in with me so that Dr. Vakkas could give me some insight on her cheek and see if it had anything to do with her teeth. (mind you, she didn't have an Appt and I was just wanting some professional insight) He was more than happy to check her. He never once said "I'm on a time crunch, make an appointment" for that I'm beyond grateful. So thank you Dr. Vakkas you could've easily said "no" but you didn't. Lastly, my nurses Ashton and Maria were amazing. Ashton was super cool and helpful and was my initial nurse and Maria was the one to recover me after. Both amazing and I have left with such a great experience. I am now 3 days post op and I feel amazing. I have not taken my medication once. I am not in any type of pain. I feel sore, but no pain. I really thought I would be out and not able to do much. However, I feel amazing and I didn't even get swollen. My husband said " the Dr. did a great job, is why" and I couldn't agree more with him. I had a very pleasant experience with Dr Stender and his staff. I chose this practice because it…read morewas the only one of 2 in the area that accepted my health insurance. It's about 25 miles away but worth it to be covered for oral surgery. When I went to Dr Stender's office for the initial consultation the staff was very nice. During the consult, the doctor and his assistant were cheerful. I felt like I was with friends. Dr explained the procedure in detail but in layman's terms. His receptionist told me the approximate copay which was within a few dollars of the actual amount. I left confident that what seemed like a major thing- crown lengthening (bone shaving), was a minor operation. It turned out to be routine and minor oral surgery. In fact, I drove myself to and from the office on the day of the surgery. Dr Stender skillfully applied local anesthesia. It didn't hurt when he inserted any of the needles nor when he did the surgery. I was only there for about 45 minutes from parking my car to heading back home. I had no pain afterwards and I did apply a cold pack for the first couple of hours per instructions. I never took any pain meds and returned a week later to have stitches removed. I had no discomfort or complications. I highly recommend Dr Stender and his associates. He always used my preferred nickname which is more than I can say for some of my co-workers :-) if you're looking for excellent service from competent and personable professionals look no further.
