The price was right he was very close to where I had bought my tires and it took less time than estimated. He shared the report with me afterwards, showing how the wheels were adjusted, and also consulted with me on the repair to a takeoff that I had kept after replacing my four tires. He suggested an approach and off I went, successfully getting warranty coverage for that particular item. Update: After taking my van to another workshop for inspection, they determined that during Kevin's work, either he or one of his employees used a magnetic tool that disrupted the magnetism of the crankshaft. This now requires the crankshaft to be replaced, a job that will take 11 hours and cost an unknown amount. This error code never existed before Kevin's "repair," and yet he still refuses to take responsibility for the issue. In my experience, Kevin's shop seems less capable of properly diagnosing complex issues and more focused on upselling additional repairs rather than addressing the original concern. Given the inaccurate diagnostics, lack of improvement, and additional complications, I cannot recommend this shop. Over the past year, Kevin (the owner) has worked on my Promaster van on two separate occasions. Despite investing between $12,000 and $15,000 (still verifying receipts), the problems I initially brought to him remained unresolved, and in the most recent instance, my vehicle came back in worse condition. He won't take responsibility for the fact that the van was in his possession for a month, and during that time, new engine issues were created (not diagnosed. Created). The van was at Kevin's shop for 30 days. Initially, it was brought in for brake issues, but after two weeks, he reported an engine problem that hadn't been present before. This led to an additional two weeks of engine repairs. When the van was finally returned to me, it had developed a new, more severe issue that Kevin refused to acknowledge or address. In addition, his diagnostic process often seemed off. The issues he identified did not align with the symptoms or initial problems I brought to his attention. This resulted in repairs that did not solve the underlying problems, adding unnecessary costs and downtime. I really don't think he knows what he's doing. read more

I just brought my car here because I live in San Leandro so I thought it was convenient. I paid $900 to change some sensors in my Infiniti g35 and then right when I got it back, the transmission blew up and they asking for another 2600 to replace. If you knew the transmission would blow up why have me pay $900 to fix some sensors ? Wasn't sure what was going on but it sounds like a scam to me. However, I'm leaving it anonymously because my car is still at this shop, as I dropped it off earlier this month. I visited based on a friend's recommendation, but I regret it. I feel the shop overcharges for minor services and takes advantage of customers. I agree with another review mentioning charges for a diagnostic test, and I also felt pressured by the owner, Kevin, to agree to additional services. Quick, efficient and friendly AF Kevin!! Thank you for being so kind when I came by to get my oil change done today, and thank you for the small discount. The shop is tucked away in front of Costco and right behind Burger King. It only has 1 entrance and exit, so be careful not to miss it. Right now, they're not taking any customers inside but asking customers to hang out at Costco or Burger King due to COVID 19. I came by today and was able to get my oil change done in less than 40 minutes!! On top of that, my fluids, brakes and tires were checked! As the Bay's temperature start to hit the 90's, I knew it was time to get my AC fixed in my 2018 Subaru WRX. I had a friend of a friend attempt to fix it at first but to no success, if anything it felt as though the car was worse now than it had been before. I called early in the morning and Kevin was kind enough to get me in with no appointment right away. He not only ensured that the car actually worked how it's supposed to but even provided documentation as to how many grams of AC refrigerant it's supposed to have (450g +/-25g) and what was wrong with the AC to begin with... Turns out friend of friend had overfilled it to 796g which with AC systems, too much of a good thing is very much so a bad thing. So far incredibly good! I called around locally because I was in need of new brakes. People in berkeley by my job were nuts expensive and the big chains in San Leandro were also way up there. I guess either I only ever end up needing front brakes?? Either that or the prices have gone way up since I had my last brake job. I highly recommend Kevin and his team. I have been taking my 12 year old Nissan truck to Kevin for 3 years now and he has done an excellent job keeping it running in top condition. I was planning on going to Costco, when the car made a funky rumbling noise while on the East Side. I found Brannan Auto Experts near the Costco and asked about my car. I also said did you know there's a Brannan Auto Expert in SF, they said part of the same. No way, I called Kevin, and he confirmed. Cool. Anyway, told him my car was rumbling and felt like it was transforming, the repair guy said he'll take a look. I went to have lunch at BK next door, super convenient. And came back and he said its something to do with the engine. I said no biggie, I have the full warranty thingamabob, and he said to check if its with the dealer or with a 3rd party. So I looked under the spare for the user manual. It was a 3rd party insurer. I said how did ya know, he said its typical when the warranty is over and if a person bought the extra stuff - I did. Better safe than sorry. I said I hope its covered. He said he works with them and can help navigate the process. AWESOME. It was. He took care it, order the parts, and had it fixed. I asked him to do an oil change too as you're gonna be under the hood anyway, why not get that done too. When I got my car, he said everything look good, he did one of those point inspection things - I guess that's part of their grand opening stuff as other places charge for that stuff. Who knows. but cool. One stop shop for everything. Maybe an alignment next time as they do that when I change out my old tires. I had originally taken my car to another car repair shop who gave me an estimate for the work needed. I decided to get another estimate and had called Brannan Auto Experts (5 star on yelp) and spoke with Kevin who gave me an estimate over the phone which was much less than the original estimate. I brought the car to Brennan's for repair and although the total cost went above Kevin's estimate, it still was less than the original estimate. Kevin explained to me why and it was understandable. They had to keep my car for 2 days so Kevin suggested to rent from Hertz nearby who they had a relationship with and would give me a discount. I have full confidence in Brennan Auto Experts. I believe they are honest, knowledgeable, and courteous. I will be bringing my cars to Brennan Auto Experts from now on. read more

I purchased my first car and it's all thanks to the team at Brannan Auto! I've been going to the SF location for years and I'm so excited that Kevin opened up a second location near me! I usually take my car in on the way to work in SF, and I have been thinking about getting a newer car. Though my needs were quite simple and something I could have done myself, I was still very pleased with the convenience and service levels at Brannan Auto Experts. My car battery died a few nights ago which frankly came as no surprise once I opened the hood and caught a glimpse of the sad state of affairs that was my battery, looking like a sorry, rabid scene from Pulp Fiction! From that point, my car starting was hit or miss and I knew I had to do something before I encountered a poorly timed incident. So, I made a few calls from work which happens to be in the auto care mecca of San Francisco. I didn't know Brannan's name even though I literally pass it every morning on my way to work so I took my lunch and walked on over to Brannan's to see if they could help me. I was immediately greeted upon entering and I explained what I needed. I was directed to Kevin (maintenance as opposed to body work) who then made a call for details. The battery was about $75.00 and they only charged me $15.00 for installation. This was a HUGE relief for me knowing how easy it is to install a car battery. Even if I did pay a little extra for the battery, it was refreshing to find they weren't gauging me for a simple service. So, back to work I went, jumped my Honda and rolled her on over to Brannan's. My car was ready by 5:000pm. This experience left me feeling pleasantly relieved. I really feel like I've found a trustworthy, stand up business that I can rely on! After horrible experiences at Midas on S. Van Ness, I am so happy to have found an honest mechanic at a good value. We failed our smog test the first time and Kevin offered a discount on the second test (after we had the problem fixed) when he didn't have to. I just had my brakes replaced by him and he was the cheapest in town. In spite of this, he went out of his way to check a few other parts that I was concerned about with my car like the wheel bearing. He filled up my tires and discovered a leak and fixed it (extra $20). Takes me back to when I was a kid in Colorado in a small town called Hotchkiss. Kevin at Brannan Auto Experts is the kind of guy you don't expect to find in a big city. My first experience was about 5 months ago when I found him here on Yelp. I got a quote from The Toyota Dealership to replace a leaking shock absorber and was shocked. I started calling around and Kevin knocked a hundred dollars of the dealers bid on the same shocks. He was quick, professional and a nice guy. I was so pleased with his work when I realized my Wife's Jeep needed a service I took it to him instead of the dealership. Once again great personal service. He doesn't nickel and dime over every little thing. I promised him a review at that time but forgot to do it. Today, I tried to fix my wife's turn indicator light after trying this and that on my own I gave up and called Kevin. He said drop by with the car. He took a look figured out that the bulb was blown even though it didn't appear to be to me. Saved me from a more expensive repair that I thought I had to to on my 2001 Honda Prelude (rear main seal leak) when he said he would replace the valve cover since that might've been leaking too, and inspect the timing while he was at it, and see if that fixed the leak. They're great! I've been taking my cars to them for years. I now live in the south bay but still drive my car up to have it fixed there. Kevin does a great job and always makes sure to be as economical as possible while still doing a quality job. I had a somewhat intermittent starting problem that Kevin tracked down and fixed with sheer determination! My boyfriend recently started going there after bmw quoted him 1100 for a wheel boot on his mini, which seemed unreasonable. Kevin fixed it for several hundred dollars less. And he's certified to fix bmw. He's the only mechanic I trust. Over the years I've ended up on the wrong side of the bridge with a broken car and have always gotten horrendously expensive quotes from other mechanics.
