I give three stars because it seemed pretty fast (24 hours) and because i know i cant be certain about work condition, although i did notice some of the tools there were low quality harbour frieght brand. I was stranded, traveling in my van. I feel that John treated me with prejudice because I was traveling in a van. I wasn't invited to have coffee or snacks, I struggled to find the restroom, and I walked out of there to a hotel 2 miles away twice without being offered a ride. No one tried to shake my hand. Employment is rarely empowerment. Predators dont make themselves known. read more

Extremely disappointing and concerning customer experience. Last summer, we brought our SUV to Doral's for an air-conditioning leak. We paid around $700 for a temporary "band-aid" solution that involved refilling the refrigerant. We understood that this was temporary and that we would eventually need to return for a complete repair. This spring, the problem returned, which we expected. We decided to have the issue fully repaired and paid around $1,950 after being assured that the repair would take care of the problem. The document outlining the proposed work was sent to us by text rather than email, making it difficult to clearly read and understand. When we reviewed it, we discovered that it included a repair for an oil leak and several other items that Doral's later described as "just suggestions." We had brought the SUV in only for the AC repair, yet the total shown was close to $7,500. When my husband questioned the amount, he was told that the additional items were merely suggestions. If that was the case, we did not understand why they had been included in the total. He was then told to sign at the bottom of the text so they could proceed with the additional work. We declined and paid only the originally agreed-upon amount for the AC repair. The sales representative was also condescending and repeatedly tried to speak over my husband, which was especially disappointing coming from a business that promotes itself as transparent and family-owned. Less than three months after paying approximately $1,900 for the full AC repair, the SUV began making the exact same hissing noise associated with the original refrigerant leak. This was not a new problem. It was the same issue we had paid Doral's to fix. Doral's told my husband to bring the SUV back, which made sense because its website advertises a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty that includes air-conditioning repairs. My husband and I were both present when we dropped it off. The salesperson told my husband to sign the computer pad but specifically said there would be no charge because it was the same issue, so my husband signed it. A day and a half later, after my husband had to follow up because communication was poor, he was told that it would now cost $2,700 to repair. We could not understand how we were being asked to pay even more money for the same issue less than three months after paying approximately $1,900 to have it fixed. When my husband called to arrange pickup and made it clear that we would not pay again for the same problem, the representative denied saying there would be no charge and told him, "Don't put words in my mouth." Both my husband and I clearly heard the statement when we dropped off the SUV, and the conversation should have been captured by the cameras in their office. Based on our experience, we no longer trust this business and will not return. Save your money and find another repair shop. read more

I saw the online reviews of this place and when I got a coupon in the mail I thought I got seriously lucky! Got a 10 am appointment and dropped off my car to get an oil change. I was told it would take 2 hours and so I left. I came back after 2 hours and a half and I saw my car parked. Walked inside and I was told "they are still working on it" , weird, I saw it parked not being worked at all. I said I will wait for it and just then I get told the guys are going on break cause they have been working for 5 hours or something. I waited 2 of those hours for my car so I guess I get to wait a few more. I know their time is important but as my only day off I didn't want to spend half my day there so I took my car and left. No apology, no sorry you could not wait, zero. If you do not want to give discounts , easy, don't send coupons. If you had said 3 hours, I would have plan accordingly. Rude telephone staff, the person actually hung up on me, insisting I need to come in for a tire estimate. I told him I know the size of tire and I should not have to come in to get an estimate, at which point he hung up. No doubt they want people to come in and then they can pressurize them into making a purchase. All there shops gave me an estimate over the phone. read more

The message looked scripted and didn't address the request for pricing at all. After I replied again asking for the quote Yelp indicates businesses will provide, the same scripted response was essentially copied and pasted back to me. Only after pushing further did I receive what seemed like a more direct reply stating that their insurance does not allow customer-supplied parts due to liability concerns, followed by a note that they offer a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. That explanation would have been fine if it had been stated clearly from the beginning, instead of sending automated responses that avoided the actual request. Consumer Education: When repair shops purchase parts, they typically buy them at wholesale cost and then apply their own markup in addition to the shop's labor rate. There's nothing inherently wrong with making a profit--every business should. However, when customers ask for a quote while supplying their own parts, it can reduce that margin. Based on more than 20 years in automotive retail management and sales, my personal conclusion is that some shops simply prefer not to quote jobs where their parts markup isn't included. The bigger issue here is the Yelp listing itself. Yelp allows customers to input the vehicle, describe the work needed, and press "Get a Quote." If a shop isn't willing to provide quotes--or only wants customers to come in--then that option probably shouldn't appear on their listing, because it creates a misleading expectation for consumers trying to comparison shop first. read more

I had one of the best customer service experiences I've had in a long time at Doral Auto Repair. Before even coming in, John was incredibly helpful over the phone. After I told him my make and model, he suggested I pick up a replacement headlight bulb just in case and told me to come in anytime--no appointment needed. When I arrived, he immediately came out, had me open the hood, and took a look on the spot. Within less than 3 minutes, he had the new bulb installed and working perfectly. What really stood out was what happened next--I asked how much I owed him, and he told me there was no charge. That level of honesty and kindness is rare these days. This seems to be a white-glove service for customers who don't know much about cars. I came in to get my flat tire fixed. The woman who looked at my tires showed me a picture of the extensive crack lines on the tire and strongly suggested that the tire be replaced, and I agreed. She then showed me some wear marks on my other tires that I bought last year and tried to convince me that the other tires also needed to be replaced. I asked for an estimate for replacing both 4 or 2 tires, and she showed me prices for installing the tire replacements as well as wheel alignment, and replacing the tire sensors after she showed me that one was not functioning. The pricing of the tires and services were competitive, with estimates of $1188 and $795. I declined and after driving 20 mins there and 20 back home on my spare, I eventually had 2 new tires installed at Larry's Tire in Hayward, who said my other 2 tires were good, no alignment needed, and saved me at least $350 on installing the 2 tires and double that for not buying and installing the other 2. On the plus side, Doral has a posh waiting room with free coffee and drinks. read more

They were very professional and service was done in a timely manner. I always felt they were upfront and honest. Big plus. Gave me a ride to BART and picked me up from BART when my car was ready. The staff at this shop are incredibly kind, but that's the only positive aspect of their service from my experience. They tried to add thousands of dollars worth of add-ons, even when they don't provide the service I paid for. I visited this shop for an oil change. As I was driving, the oil warning light illuminated. I stopped to check for leaks, but fortunately, I found none. I checked the dipstick and noticed that there was only a small amount of oil on it. I called the shop, and they informed me that they would need to tow my car back to their shop and If it was my fault, I would be responsible for the towing and repair costs.I decided to call my mechanic instead. He inspected the car and confirmed that there was not enough oil added back to the car. As a result, I had to pay more money for their negligence. Service was good, they were communicative and kept in touch along the way, charging a 250 diag fee was pretty steep but I gave them a try Sadly this why you should always get a second opinion As it makes me wonder if they know what they're doing Came in check engine light, after diag they stated the head gaskets are blown, they recommend replacing the engine.... Bummer for sure they didn't do head gaskets, no biggie Took it someplace else and they said it was catalytic converter, fixed it and she's back to running! This is where I wonder if the shop did anything with the diag or if they did it properly. I went to this shop because I like to support local businesses in my area. When I called about my vehicle the person answering the phone was very polite and helped me schedule an appointment to have the car looked at. I brought the car in because it was making a noise when reversing and the ac stopped working. It cost $419 for the inspection. The car was dropped off first thing in the morning and at 4:30pm no call from the shop with any news. We drove down there and were lucky to catch the office staff leaving and picked up our vehicle. The estimate of $10,000 was ready but no one called us all day. $10,000 was a shocker but so was being told "you're better off selling your vehicle than wasting your money on repairs ". The car is a 2005 Mustang in amazing condition for its age. It's 20 years old so needing work is no surprise but the list of things we were told needed to repair/replacement seemed a bit much. We have since been to two other shops for second opinions and we're happy to say that our concerns were addressed, repaired and cost thousands less than what we were quoted. Also, the other shops did not charge to look at the vehicle. And lastly the other shops did not agree that all of the work that was quoted at Doral's was necessary. read more

I talked to a man over the phone just wanted to get a job quote to replace my front sway bar links and I was told I would need to take the car there first to see what's going on. I asked him if it will be a free estimate and he confirmed it. When I got there he insisted I need to pay $125 for the car inspection which I just did at my dealership. I refused the inspection and questioned him about that since he told me earlier I can just get a free estimate for my replacement job. Three years ago I was very impressed with Dorals, these past two experiences, there's been a decline. For two weeks now, my car has been inoperable due to damaged tires. Dorals charged me $299 to check out my tires then left my car on ACC killing my battery and not taking ownership. I had to pay another $200 for a new battery. I did not ask or request a diagnostic but they charged me for it when I mentioned to Brandon that my battery is now dead, he blamed the tow truck driver. I called and spoke with the tow truck driver he said he had to roll my car on the flat bed as the battery was dead upon arrival. Going back to what Brandon said, Dorals did not touch the car or turn it on, why did they charge me $299 for a diagnostic check. I can't image they did that without turning on the vehicle? It does not make sense I've done $599 and my car is still grounded with no repair. I am giving two stars for the effort and communication but I did not leave pleased with the outcome especially since I had to tow my car back and forth to different shops. read more

Phenomenal service and professionalism that truly went above and beyond. Found Doral's auto repair company on Yelp and glad the reviews didn't steer me wrong. Very honest and transparent pricing and they went above and beyond to fix my brakes the same day because I commute to work. Brandon even called to follow up the next day to check on the car and was nice enough to stay open 10 minutes after closing so I could pick up my car the same evening-didn't have to do that but so appreciative! Can't speak highly enough of how pleasant the experience was. I really appreciated the clean and well appointed waiting area with complementary drinks and snacks as well as the texts and emails with all of the information about the repair and pricing. Lastly, sometimes auto repair places can feel a bit intimidating as a woman and that maybe they are taking advantage. I never felt like that at Doral's. I brought my car in for servicing. They had my car all day and didn't do one thing. They also use a faulty, likely fraudulent system that supposedly reports when service is required. That system is totally wrong ---- they come off as scamming customers. I was told I needed thousands of dollars of work, yet I had the receipts showing that work had recently been done. This used to be a great place and I felt so lucky that I found them. But they changed all staff in 2024 and now (at least for me) are questionable with their quakity and ethics. read more

Hello I am a first and last time customer. I came in seeking help on a coolant leak I saw with my car after I pressure tested it. I paid the shop $272 for the diagnostic fee and 2 1/2 hours later they tell me they couldn't find a coolant leak. My car overheated on me twice and my radiator was empty. But sure no leak anywhere. What they did see was a tiny oil leak by my timing cover and that it was getting on my belt. They then recommended me to get the timing seals, gaskets and sensors replaced by my timing cover because oil was getting all over my belt and it would be worse In the long run. They told me out the door it would cost $2,391 to get this job done. This shop was charging me $300 for labor per hour for a tiny leak. Vallejo auto shops charge you 140-160 a hour for labor. The Chevy dealership in San Leandro, Oakland quoted me at 1100 and 1300 to get the same job done. Whats going on here? Why did they tell me my timing belt was getting exposed to oil my car has a timing chain. What a rip off please stay away from this shop. Also the diagnosis fee is more than getting a dealership diagnostic fee done. Called 3 shops in Vallejo that's quoted me at 140 and 160 to get the same inspection done. read more

Called for a quote for replacement of seat belt today. It's for a seatbelt that my child uses so there's a sense of urgency to fix. Despite there being a slight tare and my understanding from the dealer that the whole mechanism needed to be replaced, I was told I needed to bring the car in for an estimate here. It was odd that a dealer gave me a quote by phone with the Vin and the response I was given here was they absolutely needed to see the car (a photo of the tare my child made with scissors wasn't sufficient). I asked to speak to someone that may be able to give me a quote and that second person said without seeing the car it could be 1000 different things. (This was confusing as I asked for specific thing ... parts labor for speatbelt replacement, no accident, replacing the entire mechinism). Furthermore the person said, if I poke to the dealer why am I calling them. I know I'm not alone thinking that it's typical in this age to explore options. They just lost my business with this response or lack of responsiveness for a quote and insensitivity to time asking to bring the my vehicle in. It may be a sales technique to bring in the customer before talking money. Parts labor for seatbelt was ased for, Vin, year make and model was provided. It was a red flag for this auto shop not being straightforward and skilled in communication.
