Now I know why Longhorn had a 2-1/2 hour wait and we got right in to Brann's. Waitress was nice enough but she was not very good. Passing hot food down instead of placing it in front in the one that ordered it. Never refilled our drinks. Then we move to the food. My prime rib was overcooked and completely cold. She did ask if she could prepare a new one and that one was even more overcooked so I sent that back so I had a baked potato and salad for dinner. My wife and I went here with my daughter while we were in town for the Christmas through Lowell arts fair and decided to eat at Brann's. The food was very good and the service was fantastic. Our waitress was friend the person bussing the table was right there whenever we needed anything. I was a huge fan of John Brann's but my recent trip to Johnnys on 28th street was a huge disappointment. WATCH OUT FOR THE SURCHARGE TACKED ON FOR NO REASON EXCEPT THEY CAN! The restaurant was understaffed and we were on the point of walking out before the waitress brought our drinks. No bartender on duty. Their Veterans Day special was one choice, no substitution and I couldn't take it with me. As a stand alone take out order I could understand that but I bought 3 dinners and wanted to use my veterans status to take a meal to my veteran son who couldn't take time out for lunch. This was my first time at a Brann's and I went with some family for dinner on a Friday evening. The server was friendly and attentive to us so I really did appreciate that since they were pretty busy as the evening went on. The food was decent. Just a typical menu of pub/grill type food and it is likely that anyone could find something they may like. I went for the pretzel burger and it was HUGE and messy but pretty good. It was cooked medium be default. Everyone else's food at my table looked standard. Didn't care much for the fries and ranch that came on the side. The rolls they serve at the table with the cinnamon butter are so good and soft though. The food did come out pretty fast. They have TVs all around as well. A sports bar atmosphere leaning towards an older demographic and maybe some families that is just a step up from the typical national chain restaurant. read more

My husband and I came to Brann's for an impromptu date night dinner. My husband came here with his coworkers once and had nothing but good to say about it. I figured we could give it a try. I'm highly disappointed. Maybe preparation and food purchase has changed since Covid? Maybe more premise food ordered in and thrown in a deep fryer? I don't know but it was nearly inedible. The SALT content in all of this was excruciating!! I literally gained 5 pounds in a day from the water retention from all that salt! Not to mention neither of us finished our food, or took a take out box. This should have been the first sign that we didn't enjoy our food by the waitress. Well maybe she ignored it. Lastly, my husbands broccoli was so over cooked it fell apart on the fork. It was absolute mush!! I could have fed it to a toothless baby without purée. Food quality and freshness gains 1 star. Execution gains 3 stars because the fish and mozzarella sticks were crunchy and the steak temp was almost perfect. Service was pretty good other then not noticing that the food stunk. The waitress was clearly experienced and knowledgeable. She was also friendly and mostly attentive. Service gains 4 stars. Ambiance is typical of this style of dining experience, so it gains 4 stars. They didn't earn 1 star, it's just the default. My sizzling sirloin came to the table cold with no sizzle from the metal severing plate. I asked for medium-rare but got a blue (less than rare). The only good thing to come to the table was the bread and fancy butter. It was a long day of travel and I just wanted to get back to the hotel to sleep so I just ate my steak. This was at the Brann's in Cascade. Went to eat after a pre-op appt. Ordered the 8 oz sizzler meal. While waiting, I went up to the bar to get a Keno ticket. The bartender was in and out of the back, waiting on other people at the bar when she finally got to me she ran the ticket, came back and threw it down and said it wouldn't accept it and walked away. I filled out another one and waited again. In the meantime, our food arrived. I finally got my ticket and went back to eat. The loaded mashed potatoes were good..but a little runny. My steak was cooked med rare but when I tried to cut it, there was gristle and it was hard to cut. I figured first cut, ok. Continuing to try and cut and eat my steak was futile so I told the waitress who went and got the manager or someone. They brought me another steak which was so sizzling hot that when they set it in front of me it.was popping hot grease on me. The steak was also rare instead of medium rare....by this time I requested a box to bring it home. I went back to the bar to cash in my winnings and no one behind the bar. After standing there for quite awhile someone walked behind the bar and I had to say something before she even looked up at me. My two year old grandson's Mac n cheese was nothing but Kraft Mac n cheese. This is the worst meal and service I've ever received at a Branns!!! And I've been to many Branns. I used to go to the Branns on Leonard Street. When they decided to remodel, I hated the job that was done. I don't know if they got new help in their restaurant, but I found some of them to be very negative to customers. I still was upset when the restaurant closed. The redecorating made the restaurant seem very cold and not welcoming. once I had to send my food back two times because it wasn't done correctly. read more

I can't say this place is below 3 stars. When I came in, I was greeted ASAP and the service was great. I sat at the bar. The food came out the way o ordered and was lava hot so that added a star to me. I gave it 4 stars due to the lack of drink specials, non gluten options such as ciders, seltzers, etc. for people who get gout from different items, these are good options for them. The other issue I had was the lack of hot sauce. I'm from the south where hot sauces are eaten on cereal. Tabasco is a good sauce but it is not great. A better selection would be good. If you are looking for a decently priced meal I would highly recommend checking out Brann's steakhouse. It is a steakhouse bar atmosphere with TVs on every wall to watch your favorite game. The service was incredible and fast. My husband and I split the 11oz steak and added 1 slab of ribs. The ribs were amazing! Smothered in bbq sauce and literally fall off the bone good. I also was obsessed with the loaded baked potato as a side. The 11oz was a huge THICK piece of meat. If you go with the steak I would recommend the Boursin cheese sauce on top. It made the steak! Been here many times and didn't realize I have not rated them. I have taken 7 of my employees here. Been here a few times for lunch and maybe a time or two for dinner. I have never had bad service here and the food was always as expected. I've had the steaks and burgers myself. This last time I got the bacon cheese burger and fries. The last time my husband and I visited this restaurant was the week before everything shut down due to the pandemic. It was good to be back. The dining room where we have always eaten was not open, my guess is that they were lacking staff, a familiar lament right now. It took a little while to get seated, but nothing too bad. It was a little unsettling though that there was nobody to greet us and there was quite a pile-up of people trying to check in. I was afraid that someone would try to cut ahead of us (always a fear of mine.....how stupid is that?) but it was pretty orderly. Once we were seated, and were able to order, everything went pretty fast and flawlessly. Erica was our waitress and she was great! Very friendly and attentive. I got a sizzler with baked potato and grilled mushrooms. I also had a tossed salad and some garlic grilled shrimp. My husband got the ribs with fries and a cup of loaded baked potato soup. The only thing I didn't really care for was the garlic butter on the steak......it was just too garlicky......next time I will ask that it not be added. The servings were so big we were able to take it all home and enjoy it again the next day. Everything was fresh and well presented. There was even a gal going around and making sure that the floor stayed tidy, sweeping up as customers were leaving. I hate dirty floors. We'll be back. read more

I love going to Brann's because I'm a fan of margaritas, and $2.99 for a big one is great. I will usually have a couple and order a wrap. My favorite used to be the chipotle chicken wrap, but now my new favorite is the cherry chutney chicken, which usually comes on a bun, but I ask to have it in a wrap instead. I would give 5 stars if it wasn't for last night's experience. It was the first time I went during the busy hours (it was Friday night) and it seems they struggle with keeping up with good service. My order came out wrong (I got a burger in a wrap instead of the cherry chutney chicken) and half of the fries that I usually get- there were maybe 15 pieces on the plate. My husband ordered steak and ribs and he had to remind the waitress that his ribs hadn't come out yet. We also didn't get more silverware when two more people joined us. We were in town, alone, date night-which doesn't happen often with our kids. So we stopped here-I would rather have had McDonald's after this. They were short staffed, and we understood that so this wasn't the issue at all. We paid the $58 and $12 tip. But the salad was wilted, ribs dry and steak-ordered medium was dry and cooked to death. UPDATE: This is literally the worst steak place I've ever eaten at in my life. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of trying it out again and now we've decided that it's definitely not our go-to steak place. The manager was also rude and unapologetic, probably thinking we were just out to get a free meal. No, your staff just doesn't know how to cook a steak and we wanted our money back. Take a customer service class again and learn how to apologize when your customer leaves without eating a steak. Our waiter was nice, unfortunately the steak cuts here are weird--they come in strange lump size pieces instead of the typical flat sirloin pieces that are basically standard everywhere else. I don't know if Brann's gets deals on ugly pieces of meat or just buys cheap foodlot beef, because every time we've been here the steaks are basically lumpy or are just slabs of uneven lumps, and this time they tasted liver-like to the point where I didn't even want to eat it. Because of the lumps, they don't cook evenly or well at all. My husband's sirloin was over cooked on the outside but totally raw on the inside (which was fine since he asked for rare, minus the burned outside), and mine was super burned and hard to eat (I asked for medium well). I could barely cut it! In addition to my poorly cooked steak, I asked for mushroom toppings on my steak and it was literally brought out to the side for me in a separate bowl still basically in full-size mushroom form slicked with some random sauce.. not even sliced up or anything. It was kind of pointless to ask for mushroom toppings if it was just going to be slapped in a ramekin on the side. So I told my waiter that I couldn't eat the steak after giving it a few bites, and I asked for it to-go because we were with our toddler and couldn't wait longer to eat there. He said he had to ask his manager for permission to remake the steak, which is a weird policy--staff should be able to remake food for customers without first seeking the managers permission. And then laughably, our waiter brought out the check and it STILL had two of our steak dinners on it (I'm guessing the manager's discretion)--usually if the restaurant messes up on an order, they replace the food on the house AND refund you because they know your experience got jacked up and you had to wait for more food instead of eating with the people you came with. This place? No, they still charged us for my meal. Terrible customer service, We paid it anyway, but then I finally got my food and checked the steak--but now the steak was basically medium rare and disgusting in its lumpy form! I asked for a medium well! Like did you guys even check your steak when you sent it out? This was a REMAKE STEAK because you guys messed up the first one, and you couldn't even check it again? At this point, I was upset because now I couldn't even take a steak home to eat! So we went to the front to just to take the price of my meal off the bill because I wasn't paying $13+ for a mediocre meat lump. Mind you, I was still polite and not rude, but the manager came up and looked at my steak and went "oh yeah I'll remove it off the bill" and she never apologized. She never said, "I'm so sorry! I can't believe it got messed up, I apologize about this!" Nothing. She just looked at us like we were a nuisance and like we were just trying to get a free steak. Really? I didn't want a free steak, I wanted a COOKED steak made the way I wanted it. Having worked in the restaurant industry before, I was a bit appalled at the horrible customer service here and procedures taken for food remake and bills, as well as the manager's lack of hospitality skills. We will never come back and I will tell everyone I know how terrible this place is. Calling this place a "steakhouse" is a joke considering they can't cook steak. I wouldn't be so upset if the manager wasn't so awkward about giving us our money back. If you're looking for an actual great steak AND great customer service, check out TEXAS ROADHOUSE down the road! They have amazing steaks that don't taste like feedlot liver, the steaks are flat and look like steaks and not cancerous tumors, and the waiters ask you to cut your steak right then and there in front of them when they drop off your steak to make sure it's made to perfection! If it's not, they send it back ASAP and get it right. And they put the toppings ON TOP OF the steaks. We will probably head there next week to make up for this horrible fiasco of a steak night we wasted at Brann's. Buh-bye. read more
