Visited The Winter Inn yesterday for lunch. We bellied up to the bar and immediately liked the vibe. The bar was dark, but had bar lighting and fun decor to look at. Our bartender/server greeted us as soon as we sat down and was quick to offer drinks- we both got draft beers and shared an order of cheese curds. These came fast and were served with a spicy sauce that I couldn't stop eating. My boyfriend got a burger and I ordered the turkey bacon sandwich. I knew I ordered right when our server said I made a good choice, and she was right! My sandwich came on a pretzel bun and had honey mustard on the side. Sooo good. I spent the night in one of their 14 historical rooms and it was awesome. Old time feel from the early 1900's (if your a geek like me you would appreciate it.) The maids were super nice and everything was very clean. Went down to get a drink and try their food and it was pretty good. I was served by a beautiful young woman named Shelby. Great smile and service. Food was pretty good too. All and all I would deffinalty recommend. There is only one issue I had. I parked in back and had no idea where I was going once I got inside. You go one way and see the bar and turn back around and go through another door just to find out its the kitchen, so then you have to go back through the bar to get to the hotel rooms up the stairs. We had a Groupon to try this place last weekend and it was well worth the drive. We live in Holland so it was a little bit out of the way but certainly a nice drive. This was a small quaint place, great for watching sporting events, very friendly staff. My husband got this incredibly large burger and I got a sampler plate and everything was hot, looked great when served and tasted amazing. This is a great spot. There is a dining room for fine dining on one side and a sports bar on the other. Also an outdoor dining option when weather permits. In the sports bar, trophy mounts and classic tin signs adorn the walls, as well as plenty of TVs. The servers are knowledgeable, friendly and honest about the menu options. Every dinner I have had here has been good to great. They have happy hour every day except Sunday with plenty of offerings from local breweries. It's a fun place with ample local flavor to make it interesting. Pro tips: The parking in front is limited, but there's plenty around back. Hard to find a restaurant to cook the food exactly as asked. The server was busy but able to get our food and drinks always being filled. The salad was really good. The place was clean and our server was very friendly and kept us at the top of her list. Kept our drinks filled before they were gone. Unfortunatly it was again underwhelming for one of us. It started with waiting for a table in the dining room more than 5 minutes to even be acknowledged. Once seated menus were forgotten and when the server showed up she was expecting us to order.. No big deal. We ordered my wife ordered the almond shrimp, and I ordered just the Jumbo shrimp. When they came out my shrimp looked pretty weak compared to the Almond crusted shrimp she ordered. Unfortunatly mine were perfect, and they use big shrimp and hand bread them too. My wife's were encased in a 1/4" of heavy breading that literally when broken open poured water out. Honestly the. Almond was overpowering and my wife just peeled off the breading and ate the shrimp. We probably would have sent it back had the server stopped by after serving the plates, but she was nowhere to be found until we were through. She asked if my wife was done, but didn't ask why here plate was covered in breading peeled off of the shrimp. as she started to leave I told her my wife's meal was terrible. Because we were using a Groupon she said she wasn't sure she could discount the plate and in fact came back to tell us she couldn't.. No Manager, no chef, just a bill for the remaining $13 and change. Needless to say we weren't impressed and it will be a good while before we will go back.. I wasn't rude to the server and even tipped her 20%, but the overall malaise of the food and service didn't call to me or my wife to recommend or endorse the Winter Inn to anyone else either. If.... The manager had stepped in, it may have been different. But I guess we'll never know. I did leave my complaint and number on the back of the check... Doubtful anyone will care to make the call to the disgruntled customer.. 3/5/19 The manager did call me 3 days after our dinner and apologized profusely. She also sent a gift certificate whice came yesterday for more than the amount of our combined dinner We'll give it another shot and see how it goes. The only reason for such a low mark is due to my lunch that I had there on Friday. I ate up at the bar by myself and the wait staff was excellent. Since it was Friday I decided to get the fish and chips, which it clearly states on the menu Alaskan cod. I did ask the waiter if it was indeed cod and yes I was assured. So when I got my meal, it did appear to be like a nice fish and chip platter. My first bite I could tell it was not cod, The fish had the appearance of being tilapia. I decided at that point I would eat my french fries and I attempted to eat some of the fish but however I could not. In general it pains me to go into a popular restaurant like the Winter inn, and be served tilapia in place of cod. If tilapia is such a great choice why isn't it just a menu item. And I know the answer to that they wouldn't be able to get $ 13.99 a plate if it was tilapia. I didn't wanna send it back and I paid my bill and left a pretty generous tip because the wait staff was great. Other than that I don't believe I'll ever be back to eat fish and chips at the Winter inn. read more

We had reservations in the outside seating area. Food was food, but there were other customers smoking. Totally against the law people! I was offended that they were allowed to do this. NOT OK. No respect for other people that are offended by the nasty smoke smell of what they're sucking into their lungs, and spewing out in the air. Really....why did this happen? No manager came out to ask us how our food was...nothing. I did comment to a server when we were leaving, but not sure what good that will do. The manager of The Winter Inn called and said that this is certainly not allowed. I have been staying in Greenville, MI for the last 2 1/2 weeks for a project and staying in the Inn upstairs [same owner & manager]. During my stay I have been a consist regular at their convenient restaurant downstairs (I've practically eaten there every single day minus a few self-made sandwiches in my room upstairs). And you may ask why not venture out and check out other establishments in the local community and my answer would simply be that I haven't found any reason to do so. The menu is extensive, food extremely well prepared, prices reasonable, and staff and clientele extremely friendly! You can definitely feel the local vibe feel with this place. Plus there is a little of everything for everyone. It's a rather large place with a bar, sports bar with Happy Hour & Tigers Specials, pool table, and fine dining restaurant in the other room! There's also a daily food special, my favorite is Fish Friday! Okay, so far, my favorite is the Reuben, would like to try the shellfish platter with lobster, shrimp, & scallops soon. Only negative is the chips, IMHO, a tad over cooked so I just get the fries instead. Anyways, definitely check this gem out! read more

So there are about three restaurants in Greenville and you can walk through their whole downtown in about two minutes so my expectations were pretty low walking in. But I was pleasantly surprised. Nice decor etc. I got the prime rib and it was excellent. Went there with about 15 people and they had no problem accomodating us, even when my cheap friend asked for separate checks.
