The absolute best old fashioned I have ever had.
    Julie E.

The old fashioned is recommended. The food was mediocre. We sat in the patio and it was so loud. I kind of felt the food was overpriced I think steaks ranged from 45-69 dollars with no salads and small sides. Yes the steaks are massive but meh. I tried it probably wouldn't make the trip for the steak but maybe for the old fashioned. They were out of several bourbons my friend asked for I may recommend documenting on the bourbon menu which bourbons are out of stock so the server didn't have to go back and forth to the bartender asking what was available.

The food was great! We had jalapeno poppers, loaded fries for appetizers. Not sure the drink I had but it was good. We got the 16 oz. New York strip with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The server was great and refilled our glasses promptly. It's a small quaint place to eat that I never knew about. I googled places to eat near me and it came up. I would definitely recommend to have a meal here.

I had heard about this place a long time ago and had been meaning to bring my bourbon obsessed husband there for one of their Friday night steaks. Our softball game was cancelled and we still had our sitter books so we decided to just head that way and I'm so glad we did. Their bourbon collection is impressive. They have so many rare finds that it's amazing. My husband was a kid in a candy shop. They didn't have Hendricks (my favorite gin) but I settled for the gin they had and ginger beer. It's been around since 1900!! The building as always been named the Alto bar from the very beginning and I love that. It's very small and very hole in the wall. These are characteristics that I love and feel most comfortable with in a bar. Food is typical bar food with a daily special. You have to call and make reservations for the Friday steak day. We both got burgers and split an order of jalapeño poppers. I loooooved the burger. It is literally the best burger I have had in years. I can't wait to go back and have it again. I got the rodeo burger and my husband got the olive burger. The poppers were also perfect. If you like a casual small bar with great burgers and bourbon, you MUST COME HERE.

22 oz draft Bud, Bud Light, Miller Light

A group of 15 of us ate here on a recent Friday night for their steak special. Totally worth the drive from Grand Rapids. The waitress was a bit overwhelmed at first with all of us coming in at once, but she warmed up after a bit. She warned us the food wouldn't all be done at once because of the size of our group, which was fine - the food arrived pretty close together. On Friday's, they do a 16 ounce NY Strip with two sides and garlic bread for $11.95. (They've also got great prices on draft beer!). The steak was very tender and had great flavor. Unfortunately the sides were mashed potatoes (out of a box) and green beans (canned). Fresh sides would have made this meal amazing. Ignore the sides and just eat the steak. This is a local, country place. We asked what they had for beer, our waitress said "Almost anything" but the three beers we asked for, they didn't have. She meant "Almost anyting mass-produced, domestic. Miller, Bud, PBR, etc. But, the 22 oz Bud draft was $3.50. Alto is small, but you'll have to watch for this place. When I was there, they didn't have a sign out front or anything with their name on it.

Many brands were local that I'd never heard of before, and it was fun to experiment and try new things. Their food menu honestly shocked me with how tasty everything was. For a board game bar, I usually expect food to take a back seat or be phoned in, but everything was delicious! I had to try the elote deviled eggs, which was a combo I had never considered but I'm so glad someone did! I also got the truffle mac and cheese and a house salad. Both were excellent! The board game selection was extensive, with old favorites and hidden gems. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be sure to stop in again!

Immediately noticed and enjoyed the life size cut out of Hulk Hogan and knew this would be a good fit. We were greeted by a waitress and someone else shadowing her. They brought some fun spicy popcorn designed to make you want a beer. I ordered a Harmony Brewing Company Draft beer and was brought the wrong one, oops! They quickly fixed it. Their pint glasses are so cool, because when you reach the end it has a funny picture at the bottom. Please see picture for reference. We chose the deviled eggs for an appetizer. They were good, but cold. I'm sorry, but no one's deviled egg recipe compares to Low Country Carolina Restaurant in my opinion. Plus at $5 for their happy hour special as opposed to $12 at this establishment... it kinda felt pricey and lacking. Originally, we ordered the brisket sandwich to split. There was another big table of people the waitress was also serving. Turns out 20 minutes or so later she went to put in our order and they were out of brisket! She was apologetic and offered to buy us dinner. We split the chicken sandwich instead and got some onion rings with it. The chicken sandwich was really good; juicy, crispy, no complaints. I was full after eating half and splitting the onion rings with my friend. Onion rings were okay, but didn't appear to be homemade. We appreciated the ranch to dip it in. Before leaving we took our photo next to the cute garden wall with a shiny neon sign that read "Making Pour Decisions!" So punny!! I don't live around the corner, so I probably won't be back anytime soon, but the food is good. We appreciate the servers remedied any of the errors graciously and felt like we were treated with respect. This place is a great diner themed bar with a relaxed vibe. I'd recommend trying them out if you're in town.

This is a Sweet and spicy stuffed egg, candied cajun thick cut bacon, charred poblano pepper garnish. These are good, but the taste aren't fully complimentary. The bacon was a little tough, however they are overall enjoyable. I was going to have their Bbq Bolognese for my entree, however they changed their menu sometime in the past, but didn't update their websites dinner menu! I got their Smoked Meat Trio ($32) instead. This has Ribs, Brisket, and Turkey. Along with Mac n Cheese and a veggie plus some Cornbread. This was a massively disappointing meal. The ribs were not tender at all, thankfully they were tough, just not tender. They tasted okay, very average at best. The brisket on the other hand was tough and not very tasty at all, definitely below average. The turkey was my favorite and the only thing I fully ate, however their was something not right. Is it frozen turkey or another thing, not sure. The bbq sauce on the meats was also okay, but nothing I would order. The mac n cheese was good. It actually tasted unique and is something I would order again. The cornbread was my favorite thing, not even colse to the best I've had, but very good. The service now was fantastic. Very friendly and everyone seems happy. Overall a 3 star review. Would I return? No, the fact they had Deviled eggs brought me in. However nothing I had makes 30 minutes travel time worth it. I would definitely skip the smoked meats! The popcorn you get when you're sat is highly enjoyable though.
