Still Waters was our first stop, and it ended up being one of my favorites of the trip. The hostess was so friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. We sat outside on a gorgeous day, and she brought each tastings right to us without ever making us feel rushed. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, peaceful and serene. There's a little back house (now mainly used as a bridal prep space for weddings) and lovely water barrel fountains that really add to the ambiance. Both the whites and reds were excellent. So good that I didn't even need a spit bucket. I would absolutely recommend Still Waters and would happily return on my next Paso Robles visit.

Next time, I'd come back and picnic under the trees and buy a few bottles of their standard wines for $25. I didn't really care for the funkier wines served in the wine tasting room. I believe sometimes companies have off days, and employees may have a bad day, which can affect one's experience, thus I dont let one bad experience ruin a company's review. But when it comes to my CHILD, you best believe i will never forgive and forget or let our experience be forgotten. We visited this winery expecting a relaxing, family-friendly experience and instead left with our daughter crying after being scratched in the face near her eye by the owner's off-leash dog. What makes this especially frustrating is that the winery's own rules state dogs must be leashed, yet the owners' dogs were roaming the property freely. Our daughter was calmly petting one of the dogs with me standing directly beside her when the dog suddenly growled and scratched her across the face. This was completely unprovoked and witnessed by the owner himself, who said absolutely nothing afterward. No apology, no concern, no accountability. An employee later approached us and said, "Sorry, he's old and maybe didn't like that she was the same height as him, which made him react".....which felt less like accountability and more like an absurd attempt to excuse why a reactive dog was allowed to roam off leash around guests and children. We also observed the dogs behaving territorially toward other leashed dogs on the property, making it even more inappropriate that they were allowed off leash in a public setting. My father-in-law is a VERY well known, well respected, and prominent winemaker in Virginia and across the United States, if you know anything about wine, you know him. So lets say, we understand winery culture and hospitality, fairly well. Had something like this happened on his property, it would have been handled immediately and professionally with genuine concern for the injured guest.....especially a child. Watching the owner casually continue on in his conversation with whomever, and pet the dog like nothing happened while our daughter screamed and cried was honestly unbelievable. In my opinion, not worth the visit for the subpar wine, if you want to take your children/dog somewhere. The poodles were friendly to me, and other adults, until we saw their behavior to other dogs & then my child....The complete lack of concern from ownership after a child was injured was shocking. Frankly, they are fortunate we chose not to escalate the situation further. Parents should absolutely be cautious visiting here with children or pets. An off-leash dog with territorial behavior has no place interacting freely with guests. Absolutely shocked and the owner should be ashamed of his actions & response (or lack there of) to the situation.

I have been there many times since seven years ago and there used to be a set of wooden stairs that I would use them for getting to the beach but since two years ago they closed that path. It changed a lot during years ago but it still beautiful. People come here for walking, bicycling, surfing, swimming, camping and believe or not they used have free WiFi there. During thanksgiving and Black Friday I decided to go to nature instead of shopping; therefore, I went to a couple places including Montana de Oro and I am glad that I did that. I felt it was only appropriate to review one of my favorite state parks for my 1000th review…read more This park has an extensive history dating back to the Chumash Native American inhabitation. These people lived here long before European explorers arrived. The park was purchased in 1965 by the State of California and made a state park. Prior to it becoming a state park, the land was used for agricultural use as well as farming and dairy use. It consists of 8000 acres of cliffs, seven miles of shoreline, coastal plains, canyons and hills. There is such a peaceful and calm vibe that you feel as you enter the park. As you enter through this colossal Eucalyptus forrest, you are mesmerized with their size. Clouds flow through the forrest and open up to the mighty Pacific Ocean. I always feel like I am entering a different world when I come here. There are so many fun trails to hike at ocean level, mountain level etc. Abundant wildlife is everywhere. You can also just take leisurely walks and enjoy the beauty of the ocean. Plenty of places to picnic, and a small beach to hang out with family and friends. There is also a small campground but what a great place to camp! Dogs are allowed but need to be on a leash. My first time out here was back in 2021. I mainly walked the Bluff Trail and took in the wind shaped jagged cliffs, caves, and rocky shore. I then completed a long beach walk on the strand that led from the park to the shores of Morro Rock. I saw so many dead jellyfish which was odd. I also saw huge turkey vultures. The next summer I took a recommendation from a worker at a local coffee shop. He told me all about Coon Creek trail. I started on this trail but it was pretty flat and I wanted something a little more challenging. I saw a sign for Oats Peak Summit and I went for it. A steep climb but so worth it at the top. Views were incredible on this ultra sunny day. Last summer I took my hubby with me and we decided to hike Valencia Peak. Hiking from sea level up to 1,347 feet proved to be a challenge but such a fabulous reward at the top. I could have spent the day up there just taking in the 360 degree views of the ocean, Morro Bay, Los Osos, and the SLO valley in the background. We absolutely loved this hike! If you find yourself lucky enough to be visiting the central coast, be sure to check out this phenomenal state park. It's truly one of California's finest offerings. Most of all remember to pack in and pack out - LEAVE NO TRACE.

Yeah, I didn't believe it either, but then I saw a sign in their vineyard that proved me wrong. It read: "Water into Wine" And now, I'm a believer! So what brought us to this magical place you ask?? Well, besides the obvious (the wine).... It was the.... ok you caught me!! We came for the wine! Yeah, we were staying at the Ava Hotel in Paso for my wife's birthday weekend (definitely check this place out if you are looking for a beautiful spot to call home away from home) And being that we were in wine country.... We wanted a nice outdoor vineyard where our kids could be outside, run around, and get all of their energy out all while Mommy & Daddy had our own little R&R time sippin' on the good stuff. And let me tell you, it was Good Stuff! When we first arrived at Sculpterra, we already knew the place was going to be a hit as the parking lot was hoppin. And apparently we weren't the only ones that got the memo that this place was THE PLACE to be as it was just a little bit off the beaten trail from where we started out... Approximately 6 miles from "Downtown Paso" (through the city limits, down the 'ol country back roads and suddenly we were in wine country!) Prior to heading to the vineyard, we did a quick pit stop at McDonalds for the kids so they had something they liked. As for me and my wife, we opted to get some of the local fare items offered on site, cause what goes better with wine than a yummy charcuterie board? I'll answer that momentarily! So in order not to ruin the good vibes of the beautiful vino from Sculpterra, I opted for just one taco and a cup of their poblano soup and man was it fire. The soup was piping hot and it had a kick of spice that made me spice from ear to ear. As far as the wine, the vineyards vibe and the entire aesthetic of the grounds, Sculpterra Winery & Sculpture Gardens (the vineyard was adorned with many abstract and contemporary pieces that are all photo worthy), this place checks all the boxes. It turns out "our server" called out, so a younger male eventually stepped up and took over, but still no water for another 15 minutes. My husband chose the Cavatelli Alla Norcia, which was as delicious as he'd hoped it would be. Just large, rubbery chunks of pure fat with barely any actual meat. I spent more time performing surgical removal trying to find something worth eating than actually enjoying dinner. In the end, most of it sat untouched because there was simply nothing salvageable. What was almost more insulting was that no one noticed. No one asked how the food was. No one questioned why a nearly full plate was being cleared. No apology. No concern. Nothing. It felt like once the food hit the table, the staff mentally clocked out. There was zero pride in the service and zero accountability for the quality of the food being served. San Luis Obispo is full of restaurants that genuinely care about their guests and the experience they provide.
