I am SO glad I found out about their Valentine's Day dinner. My mom treated my two girls (1.5 years and 4.5 years) and I to their set menu for the night. My mom and I ordered opposite items so we could taste each others- and we were THRILLED with our dinner. The soups were delicious, I loved the Caesar dressing, salmon was cooked perfectly, the churros and chocolate cake were damn good. The place is HUGE and the view of the mountains at sunset were gorgeous. My kids ran around having a blast and I never had to worry about disturbing other couples because they have it set up where the kids section is hidden away but still has a 'fancy' vibe. But I also didn't worry about being judged when my kid was being an A-hole and throwing a fit. I just drank my wine, ate my delicious food and looked to other parents who cheers-ed me in unity of our bratty kids. I will definitely return so my kids can play and I can enjoy myself/treat myself to delicious food. I would also return without my kids for a date night with my husband; it's the best of both worlds there (The server was a little slow and forgot about us a couple times- but it ain't stopping me from returning; she was still very sweet) And to end on a positive because I had such a great experience; The special tortilla soup should be added to the menu permanently!! read more

We had a large group of 5 adults and 6 kids so Brass Bear and its play zone was perfect. We came after a hike and the food was beyond what we expected! Ample space for your kids to roam around and enough to keep them entertained so you can enjoy your meal and drinks in peace. The entire aesthetic and decor was SO vibey - loved it. We terrible experience at Brass Bear Uptown. There's zero service since you have to order online, but the internet is awful with just one bar of signal, making it nearly impossible to place an order. The kids' area is a hazard, my 2-year-old hurt her leg on a broken trampoline. The water dispenser was empty, and the tables were filthy. What a big hidden gem! Beautiful decor inside bit the real treat is the huge patio overlooking the mountains. The servers were so friendly and helpful since part of the patio was order by smartphone. For a place more known for beer, they have a great wine list and even half off bottles for happy hour! The manager, Romy was even kind and friendly enough to come by and chat with us. We went to a wedding reception here. They rented out the whole venue and it was amazing. The food was delicious. I had the sour beer. Highly recommend it. My husband had the blood orange beer. The culinary offerings were of outstanding quality and flavor, which motivated our decision to return, particularly for their exquisite desserts. I came here because I saw that they were kid and dog friendly! Such a nice little area for the kids and the drinks were oh so delicious. I liked how the staff was attentive and quick with everything. I ordered the burger and two of their cocktails. Both were good and strong. The wings had the best flavor as well. Service was ok, I think I waited a millennium for water, and the bathroom was a bit sticky. The menu was bar food and there weren't gluten free accommodations. The drinks were good. First, I love Brass Bear in the Funk Zone and have been going there since there were only a few indoor tables. The new Uptown location had the potential to be just as good, but the restaurant is really mismanaged. Changing the concept from counter service to table service was understandable given the size of the restaurant, although I'd prefer to keep the QR code menus for table-specific ordering. There is no management and the service reflects that. During our last visit, the servers were arguing to change the music to whatever song they liked which killed the atmosphere immediately. No one checked in after the food runner dropped the food, and after 10 minutes of waiting for the check with our food plates neatly stacked, we had to go find someone to close us out while the restaurant was empty. The food was sad and just not the quality of the Funk Zone location. As my wife put it, their brunch was like eating at an airport hotel. The cocktails were very weak and on two different visits, our drinks tasted watered down. I recommend sticking with their beer which is great. The location is epic, and we'd go back for sunset beers. It's sad that such a proven concept in the Funk Zone failed to deliver here. read more

Sorry to say but this place isn't ready for the public. It was chaotic and confusing and everyone with a toddler and/or a dog was here. I wouldn't recommend the outside seating if you don't have a child under 5 because it's like a McDonald's play gym out there. I'm gonna say something nice: my burger was good. They made it rare instead of medium rare as I asked, but it was really good. My beer was really good too and they have a good selection. Our server bless his heart tried hard but did forget to order one of our meals. We ended up being there a lot longer than we wanted. It is valet parking only and not much street parking. You see the host stand to get seated, but no one came to our table. We got beers at the bar as we were thirsty, but had to add them to our table tab which wasn't opened because no one had seen us. System was a little confusing. We had a group over six and when the bill came they automatically added an 18% tip to it, but didn't tell us or show us, so our group tipped 20% on top of that 18%. It was all so chaotic there and no paper bill that comes, you just sign a portable POS reader. I liked visiting the funk zone location, it seemed much more fun and relaxing. This location is a kid filled chaos with confusing service. Let's hope by the end of the year they've changed the service model (how about order up front and grab a number, or hire enough people for real table service)? read more

After a long work week, my colleagues and I were so looking forward to trying out the Brass Bear since it's so close to our work. Instead of unwinding and enjoying one another's company, we were berated by the host not once, not twice, but three times for adding people to our party. One would think a new business would want customers, not chastise them, making them feel unwelcome. At least 7 people who planned on joining us were turned away at the barrier of entry the staff has erected at the door to keep people out. Many in our party have worked in restaurants in the past and are empathetic towards the people who work in them and how restaurants run. However, what my colleagues and I experienced was unacceptable. The complete disregard of a Customer Service mindset is what will keep me from returning. In closing, I would like to say our server and the expeditors who assisted were all accommodating, gracious, and professional. He checked on us often, engaged in conversation when not busy, and was attentive to all customers. He was swift and quick with ordering and delivering food. We arrived on a Friday night and I walked past a large table that was dirty, no plates bussed or anything. We were there for 2 hours and when I left, the table was still dirty. In fact all the tables around us were dirty. You order off the app so you don't really have a server. Nobody checks back in with us. They forgot some dishes and others were brought out cold. One was wrong and they corrected it. But nobody checked back or bussed our table so it remained dirty and full. Had to get up to get water and and such. I wish I would have known because I tipped on the app as if I had a server when I didn't. The whole place was dirty with dirty tables and staff that just walked by it and ignored it. We came to check it out for a Saturday afternoon and we're delighted to find the outdoor space was perfect for our kiddos to play while we were able to take in the views of the mountainside and sip on some adult beverages without anyone being concerned with our little ones enjoying their play time. The server was very nice and even though they were just opening they tended to our needs. The food was delightful, get the burger if you have an appetite. The taste of the French Fries made us order a second round as we fought over them as a family. We had such a good time we actually planned a bday party there and it was amazing!
