I call them at 5:50 am (Bagels come out at 3 & 4:30am -at least that's what I can tell) and by 6:05 my order is ready to be picked up. Its hard to find quality food in Hunterdon and Warren County, the small shops are mostly all gone or being run by money hungry, penny pinching owners (the ones that use stock cheese on your food bc it costs 2 pennies less) - you wont find any of that here. Prices when i first started going was about $10 got a breakfast sandwich, 3 bagels and a coffee; now it's closer to $15. Service is what you expect in a loud, busy, crowded and most of the time - Hot (the ovens are 12 feet from you) place. You need to speak up when they ask "who's next" but they're attentive and write down your order; in 12 years of coming here, the only time they messed up my order (they put cheese when I said no cheese) they gave me the extra sandwich and told me to give it away to someone. I used to work at a bagel shop and the amount of food we'd throw away because of a screwed up order would tear my heart open; at least Muheisen's doesn't do this. The Taylor ham was stacked both above and below the eggs, with creamy melted cheese, salt, pepper, and ketchup on a fresh Kaiser roll. It was loaded and absolutely delicious. It had all the flavor of a great Italian hoagie without missing the roll. The real bonus was the blueberry cobbler muffin. I saw on Facebook that they had just come out of the oven, and about an hour later I was heading to Cafe 57. It was fresh, moist, packed with blueberries, and every bit as good as it looked. I didn't eat half of this til just now (maybe 4 hours later) and it still wasn't a sloppy mess. The Shack Special was Roast beef, Turkey breast, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, and Russian dressing. I grabbed both to take a few bites for a video and I packaged this one up for my gf and I kept the Italian. These are both half sandwiches and they're bigger than most full size subs from anywhere. When you walk in, they have various goods (e.g., olive oil, pasta) on the right wall and the meat and cheese cases on the left. There were several workers behind the counter so I did not have to wait long to place my order. I ordered the sub with lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar. It's normally a 20 minute drive home but because of the rain, it took nearly 30. When we got home, the sub was not soaked to the point where the bread was falling apart, which shows they add just enough and the bread is sturdy. It was just as good as I remember it. I wish I could find someplace similar closer to home but don't mind the drive back to K&S.
