Stopped by Brass for dinner with no expectations and left pleasantly surprised. Located at the back of a hotel lobby, the venue is beautiful and offers warm lighting with live music. The food was good overall. We ordered the carpaccio, the gougeres, the gnudi, the amish chicken and sides of fries and brussels. The highlights were the gnudi and chicken -the gnudi was creamy and rich while the chicken was perfectly tender. There was a bit of a logistical hiccup -our chicken was accidentally dropped at the table next to us and by the time it made its way over, it was a bit colder than desired (but it's still one of the best chickens I've had). Also, the tables were a little tight but the place had great vibes and offered a good overall experience. Great for an intimate date night or a night out. Ask for Alex if you can -she took great care of us. read more

I've been here twice now and have enjoyed my experience both times. But, the second time the meal took a really long time as there was an issue in the kitchen and there was a large gap between courses. They made up for it by giving us complementary drinks, but it was still frustrating experience. The food has been consistent both times (I particularly like the play in moule frites) and this seems like a good neighborhood stop to add to your rotation. read more

Art Déco touches in the detailed lamps on the bar. Stained glass partitions. Let's dine - - Started with the warm Gougères, Fresh Oysters and Tarte Allium Foie Gras. I enjoyed my Crab Cake bibb lettuce entree, the birthday girl and our friends both had Skate which were okay. Our waitress Alex was lovely and attentive, as was the Sommelier who advised the subtle Pasqua 11 Minutes Rosé Vino. Piano man played "Happy Birthday" as the Brass Raspberry ice cream and Profiteroles desserts arrived. Merci beaucoup! Service can be rather slow. Take your time. read more

We booked Brass for a date night dinner and it was pretty easy to get a reservation through Resy. The restaurant was inside the Evelyn hotel at the very end. You have to walk through the Tusk Bar to get to but the interior and atmosphere was very nice. Since we booked an early dinner at 5pm, we were really the only ones there for at least an hour until people started trickling after 6pm. We had wanted to come here mainly for the live music performance, but unfortunately found out that they don't start the music until 7pm, so it seems like going around 6:30pm may have been the move. Since it was my anniversary with my boyfriend, the restaurant was very nice in offering us a welcome drink and we were able to choose either champagne or a peach sparkling drink. For food, we ordered mostly what our very friendly waiter recommended - which included the crab & maitake croustade, crabcake over bibb lettuce, cod, and side of glazed carrots. We enjoyed the crab & maitake although I didn't care for the tart/shell on the outside as it felt a bit on the stale side. The crabcake was decent but I also didn't care for it as much. The cod was really good though and basically fell apart super easily and was really tender and soft. The glazed carrot was unique as it almost looked like beets and had hazelnut and a bit of tartness to the flavor. Overall, we enjoyed the food but would definitely want to come when there's also live music. read more

The food was very good and the dessert was exceptional (thanks to Rachel, the pastry chef). Service was great (thanks Jack). The restaurant was as quiet (only a handful of tables used) but the bar (Tusk) was bustling. It would be nice to have better wine by the glass at reasonable price. read more

Perfect date spot. Meet at the bar and then head upstairs for dinner and live pianist. Food was excellent. Service was 5 stars. It took a few years for Manhattan's service get back to par as a whole this place is on point with Michelin star restaurants and their food was as good or better than many. read more

Brass was a vibe. The food was terrific, but to be honest, my guests and I really preferred the ambiance at the bar and lounges with the comfy sofas. The service was good but could be improved. bought a wine. they poured some and just took the bottle away. they didn't leave the bottle so we had to stay until we finished the bottle as to not waste money (it was a pricey wine). also we were ready to order but they didn't come by our table for a VERY long time. also not very important but it's too dark in the front. luckily for us we were seated in the back where there was a natural light coming through a window but if we were seated elsewhere i would not have enjoyed the experience. read more

We had dinner at Brass but kind of wished we just did drinks at Tusk. We came for an anniversary dinner around 7:45 on a Friday and it was not as expected. Quite a few families with kids and just not what we expected for the venue or the evening. The food was ok - expensive small dishes that were not spectacular. Service was slow and it took awhile to get drinks and even order. The music was lovely but I don't think it was enough to get us in for a second visit. Tusk Bar did seem to be the place to be. Hopefully they have a full menu there in the future. read more

Fantastic dinner at Brass! It's a beautiful restaurant with great service, food and drinks. We loved everything we ordered and had great recommendations from our server. We started with the Ricotta Gnudi and Tarte and for mains we had the Steak, Tilefish and Pasta Gratin side. It was the perfect amount of food for two. I'd definitely recommend Brass for a date or group dinner. They have a lot of large cozy booths to accommodate larger groups. read more

Brass was a beautiful, romantic, and classy experience! I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance: warm lighting, tasteful decor, and the pianist was a nice touch. I ordered the steak with frites and broccolini and a glass of orange wine. The presentation was gorgeous and I enjoyed the food, but that's where the review lost a star for me. I've had better steaks, but this one was just fine. I usually have my steak medium or medium well but the chef suggests medium rare so I obliged but perhaps shouldve went with my usual preparation. Besides that, the service was excellent: kind waiters & hosts! They even moved me to a nicer seat to better see the pianist and gave me a complimentary ice cream since it was my birthday. I will definitely be back on a date next time :) read more

Where do I begin? The best part of the evening was the pianist -- truly a standout. The atmosphere itself was sexy and inviting, but the service was abysmal. Requests were disregarded, and any attempt to ask a question was met with assumptions rather than answers. The tilefish was clearly frozen; the texture gave it away. The gnocchi were fine, though my partner was far from thrilled -- at this price point, "fine" doesn't cut it. For the cost of the meal, everything should have been flawless. The trout came close though... The wine list was equally disappointing. The featured Grenache was mediocre at best, certainly not worth $18 a glass. With a menu of this ambition, the pairings should have been curated with more care. Disappointed for what should've been a stellar date night was a poor showing:( read more

The space is stunning, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is genuinely friendly. We had a wonderful dinner overall, and the Crescent Duck Breast I ordered was cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and with beautifully crispy skin. The almond, beurre rouge, and roasted endive added rich, nutty, and slightly bitter notes that balanced the dish perfectly. Every bite was satisfying. I love oysters and fries and they didn't disappoint. Oysters were super fresh and they have the Best French fries in the city (for those skinny fry lovers). Ambiance is perfect for a sexy date night (get a booth ) or if you want to pretend at being mysterious. Service is both beautiful and attentive. Brass is great! Not just a hotel restaurant, it is excellent on all levels. First, the service is warm and attentive. Second, the room brings you back to a bygone era of elegance but still relaxed and unpretentious. Third, as you would expect from the Tusk Bar's sibling, the cocktails are so well done (the wine list is great too). Fourth, the food is creative, but not creative simply to be different. Everything we ate was delicious. Fifth, while the dessert list is only three items it difficult to decide since all three are great. In short, Brass is pure gold! read more

The latest Fabian/Jeremiah restaurant, so you know it's the best possible restaurant you can eat at in a hotel. Definitely start with the Gougeres and you should also get the Gnudi and the Chicken Roulade, and as always, the entire dessert menu. Especially the chocolate cake. read more

There isn't much to say about this restaurant but WOW. It's dim enough to still be able to see those around you and the piano and saxophone player was a nice touch. Every item recommended by our waitress were excellent choices and the steak and sides were savory with every bite. I had a nice experience here. The setting is lovely and lush, the waitstaff was great especially our server (Alex), the piano player was great and a nice touch. The food we had was all tasty but there was one big issue - there was a LOT of time between ordering and receiving our food AND between each course. Like 30 minutes at least. And our main courses arrived cold the flavor was good. But cold steak and chicken is definitely subpar. Separately, I love the idea of the two-sipper mini cocktails and I hope more places do that! read more

Service is terribly slow. I booked for my birthday and I was waiting for a seat at the bar for over 30+ min. After waiting someone dropped a drink on me at the bar. Although the house compd a drink after I requested a table. The table service was terribly slow. My food came out before my drinks... the worst part about it is that I reserved it before hand on my sapphire reserve card and it was still this bad. At least the wagyu sandwich was good read more

Nice ambiance. Oysters which had a passion fruit dressing were a little bland. Shrimp cocktail decent, I prefer a typical cocktail sauce but this was an interesting variant. The tomato carpaccio is not worth it. Not much flavor and odd texture. The wagyu steak good but chewy. The Amish chicken was quite good. Needs a large group to eat. The setting/environment is outstanding! The food, fantastic! the sauces delicious! We ordered shirimp cocktail that came with some kind of horse radish white sauce and it was so good we asked to keep it for the main course. The waiter looked at us like we we weird but whatever, so good, you can call us weird. The steak, cooked to juicy perfection. Not a large portion kind of place, but deff will hit the taste buds. Most food was good, but nothing outstanding. The Brass Martini was excellent. Ricotta Gnudi was tough and dense. Concord grape granita overpowered popcorn ice cream and was a mess to eat. Steak tartare was excellent AFTER one took all the parmigiano shreds off the top. (There seems to be a theme - take something subtle like tartare or popcorn ice cream) and smother it in something that covers up the flavor. The tartare came with no bread/toast, and the server asked if we wanted some, and we said yes. And on the check they had charged us $5 for four slices of baguette. We ordered 5 appetizers for 2 people instead of mains and they brought all at the same time instead of coursing it out. (There were a surprisingly few amount of mains, none of which were particularly creative). The server didn't listen and was not attentive. The ambiance is nice overall, but a lot of tables are right up close to server stations, so there is annoying amount of scurrying - and for some reason there was a smell of isopropyl alcohol near them. The piano and sax duo was not very good (especially the sax player) and created unnecessary noise. They could eliminate piano and music, save money there, put in more tables and make more $ while getting rid of the annoying honking - win/win all around. The place is fairly new, so I hope they will take this criticism constructively and improve it - it could be a great fancy but not uptight place if they do some "editing" on overpowering ingredients, get a better serving staff, and getting rid of the live music. read more
