One of the best dining experiences I've ever had! The service was outstanding. Geronimo made sure to get our vinyl request playing, and timed it up perfectly to start when our dessert came out. He even brought us a free dessert and glass of wine because it was my birthday. The food was fantastic as well. Perfectly cooked steak and an outstanding Mac and cheese. I was so excited to try this restaurant after reading the reviews about the food and since I'm a music buff to be able to go to a restaurant where you can pick songs to be played while eating was right up my alley. My girlfriends and I arrived at the restaurant before the dinner rush started and it was empty. I loved the decor as you walk in with the vinyl albums everywhere and the art on the walls. Our waiter immediately came and took our appetizer and drink orders. Shout out to the bartender cause my Moscow mule was on point. We ordered the wagyu potstickers and the crab cake, to share - both were good. For my entree I ordered the cajun spice rub ribeye and we ordered sides for the table: fried rice, mashed potatoes and truffle Mac and cheese. The first thing I noticed was how dark my steak was - I thought ok it must be the rub but upon cutting the steak it was well done and not medium as I requested. Also, the steak didn't have any taste - no cajun seasoning, no salt, nothing. The sides didn't have any seasoning either - it was all very bland and the mashed potatoes were extremely thin - like runny thin. We all ordered the creme brûlée and it was ok - I've definitely had better. By the end of our meal we noticed the table next to us was offered the opportunity to select songs from their iPad. When we questioned our waiter why we weren't asked even though we were there when the restaurant was completely empty he gave us an answer that didn't make any sense. He then asked us to leave our table as you only get 90 minutes seating but we were not informed of that as we were seated. Now let me say this restaurant is not cheap and since its a steakhouse one would expect the steaks to be on point, the food was taste good and all customers would be given the opportunity to select music. There was a big group of us so we were sat in the front across from the wall of vinyl options. We started with the shishito peppers, short rib potstickers, and crab cake. The potstickers were SO flavorful. For dinner, I ordered the NY Strip and we ordered a bunch of sides to share amongst the table including the garlic mashed potatoes, truffle Mac & cheese (my fave!!), creamed spinach with an over-easy egg on top. By time dessert came, drinks were flowing and espresso martinis were just what we needed with our cheesecake and creme brûlée. Overall, food and drinks were excellent. Service was fast considering there were almost 10 of us at the table and the vibes were vibin'. We started with the crispy sushi and it was unreal, perfect crunch with fresh, flavorful bites. It's a modern steakhouse with the added feature of a 3,000+ vinyl LP collection (60s and 70s emphasis) to enjoy during your meal. On play that evening were Santana, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles and more. The atmosphere was modern, upbeat and celebratory. Not the typical serious steakhouse environment. The music was present, but not overbearing. We enjoyed a wedge salad, Porterhouse for two, and a Macaroni & Cheese side dish. The food was outstanding, with the steak cooked perfectly. I don't recall having a more delicious rendition of Mac & Cheese..... ever. On the cocktail side, I tried a Pear & Oak. It was tasty, but slightly unbalanced with the pear notes not coming through. This is a fun little neighborhood steakhouse with a laid back vibe. Popped in early for drinks at the bar and service was wonderful and drinks solid. We moved to our table after a few cocktails Music is fun but not so loud that we couldn't enjoy conversation with our party of four. We ordered the Caesar salad, potstickers and crispy sushi. Each one was very tasty. Shared a couple of steaks, my favorite was the filet that was seared to perfection. Don't skip the trio of dipping sauces for a little extra punch of flavor. Went back to Vinyl Steakhouse after about three years and unfortunately, it was a letdown. I ordered the Cajun dryrubbed ribeye medium rare, but it came out fully cooked through and tasted burnt :/ you can literally see it . The sliders were also very dry and cold, which was disappointing. The only things I actually enjoyed were the sides, since those at least came out hot. I'm honestly sad about this experience because this used to be one of my favorite spots. Vinyl has been open for the 2 years now. The atmosphere is chic, trendy with a rustic man cave kind of feel to it yet very welcoming. The steaks were stellar and cooked to the perfect temperature we had requested. The sides were delicious and loved that they had practically ever vinyl record you could think of and make music requests for the night. Definitely a must go! The wedge was flavorful, fresh, and crisp. The crab cake was uneventful and a bit soggy at the bottom, though the sauce was delicious. I definitely recommend the chocolate mint cake and the carrot cake. Fabulous spot! Intimate space with great vibes and records. Every food was spot on from the apps to the mains to the desserts. We got 3 apps: potstickers, crispy tuna, and filet sliders. Updating my review even though I am keeping my rating the same as they we tried more dishes and they improved the crab cake! The restaurant is still dimly lit and crowded (tables are a bit too close together), but the service is still phenomenal (our waitress Crystal was attentive, friendly and even gave us a heads up a few minutes before our entrees arrived which I appreciated). She also brought out a free piece of their carrot cake at the end of our meal for a birthday we were celebrating (it was extremely good and I usually don't care much for carrot cake, it had the perfect texture) along with a record to pick and sign. We ordered the crab cake and kale salad to start. The crab cake this time was fantastic, served over a corn puree and cooked perfectly. Great flavor and a decent portion, I would definitely order it again. The kale salad was very tasty as it always is, but they used more cheese and less apple (also less fried goat cheese balls). I would recommend they keep this preparation of the crab cake and go back to their previous preparation of the kale salad (more apples, lighter on the cheese). For entrees we went with the hanger steak with chimichurri and the salmon. The salmon is still the best thing on the menu in my opinion, large portion and super flavorful. Cooked perfectly (crispy skin on top) and the bearnaise sauce with tomatoes and swiss chard pairs so well. Definitely worth it. We asked for the hanger steak to be cooked as the chef recommended, but it came out rare. Crystal offered to take it back and cook it again, but we left it as is. Next time we would just ask for it medium. The side of green beans was tasty (we did not taste any parmesan which was fine, but they are called parmesan green beans, they are more asian flavored which we enjoyed). Others got the filet mignon and scallops which they each loved, but the portion on the scallops was tiny, 4 small scallops for $58. I think there should have been at least 6 on the plate or they need to lower the price. They were cooked perfectly though and very much enjoyed. Have wanted to come here for months and have passed it probably 1 million times since it's not exactly clearly visible and currently surrounded by some scaffolding nearby I believe. Brick lined interior in warm dim light makes this feel special and private, especially when paired with the music. The music! Vinyl - aptly named for its dedication to its music selection. The patrons are invited to select from while they dine. This is not merely some sort of jukebox process. Your server may offer you an iPad and allow you to pick an album aside and a song to add to the compilation for the night. It creates a great interaction and anticipation as a backdrop to a wonderful dinner. Food and service plain simple are top notch .... The steaks are incredible of course but the hamburger was mine blowing and the appetizers flawlessly executed. Portions are perfect and the service level behind it is what really makes it pop.. After much searching for the perfect spot, I decided to take my girlfriend to Vinyl Steakhouse to celebrating her birthday. I put my trust in my fellow Yelpers and they came through in spades! Everything I read about was accurate... from the service and vibe to the food and drinks. Our waitress Maddie is such a great server and helped make our night quite special, which we really appreciated. As we were browsing the menu, she brought over complimentary champagne to start the evening, which was so incredibly sweet. And then when we mentioned that we're taking an alcohol break, she kindly brought over non-alcoholic bubbly instead!! I mean, cmon, what awesome service!! For apps we ordered ricotta plate and pork . Of the two, the ricotta was a stand-out. It was soo creamy and perfect for both dipping and sharing. For entres, we got the smashed burger (side of shoestring fries included) and chicken parm dish. We were honestly so full from the apps so we took half of each entre to go. With that said, we enjoyed every single bite and if not already so stuffed, could easily have finished both. The chicken parm had a great crunch to it and the burger was quite soft and pillowy.. I loved both. The shoestring fries were quite addicting as well and paired great with the included garlic aioli sauce. To top everything off, even after we regrettingly declined desert (from being so full), our Maddie brought over a complimentary mini carrot cake/brownie and two spoons to share. It was the perfect amount without pushing us over the edge of gluttony. And after everything was said and done, she gave us recommendations on local bars to hit up in the neighborhood so that we could continue the celebration. It was so soggy and clearly reheated poorly or just microwaved. 4. Caesar is good but you really cannot mess up a classic caesar salad 5. Beef Carpaccios the only decent dish aside from the Creamy spinach carbonara... 3.5/5 6. Spinach carbonara was good but i don't like eating yellow yolk. If you are going to price this at 16-18 dollars, at least provide orange yolk eggs, aka pasture raised 7. Cocktails sounded good but theyre really underwhelming especially for that price 8. I'm struggling to understand why so many people have left rave reviews for the place. We ordered appetizers and drinks but had to ask for the check before ordering food. The music was so loud that it gave me a migraine and I couldn't eat. I don't normally get headaches, but the music was so loud you couldn't have a conversation. I even overheard a guest next to us asking for the music to be turned down and the restaurant declined. And the apps were nothing to write home about. Here's what I found out: Their Vinyl Martini with olive oil is a unique take on a classic cocktail and if I find myself strolling by I will be ordering one at the bar. The music transitioned from Otis Redding to Nathaniel Rateliff to The Rolling Stones. We began to wonder how they were avoiding stagnancy by playing a full record when the owner Kevin stopped by. In order to maintain the rustic, warm ambiance, they play an A or B side before a record change. Kevin previously worked at a more buttoned-up restaurant and wants Vinyl Steakhouse to emanate the opposite. We ordered the dry age porterhouse for two-- my god people. The bone marrow butter draping the perfectly medium rare slices is making my mouth water. Just feast your lil eyeballs on this image and trust me. Accompanying our steak we ordered a loaded potato pavé with gouda, chives, bacon and jalapeño layered in impressively thin slices. Mmm. The kale blue cheese salad-- my fellow carnivore is not a blue cheese fan and he loved this salad. It was adorned with delicately sliced radish and a harmonious combination of blue cheese and light citrus. The hosts are the ones that operate the turntables and it is a really cool setup. We split the 28 oz "dry aged" porterhouse. My daughter had the filet. Filet was good. Fries and Mac were too. For $150 the porterhouse was average. The bone butter was eh. Bottle of 21 Honig. This would have been 5/5, if "dry aged" steak was appropriate quality for $150. Next time I will get the standard NY strip for $59 and might bump this up to 5/5. I love legit dry aged prepared well and for us a big splurge, maybe one or two times a year. The drinks and food arrived in a timely fashion and at the end of our meal the waitress brought the table complimentary glasses of champagne. The truffled vegetable were fantastic!) - Salmon (our friend who joined us had the salmon and said that it was cooked to perfection) - Burger (my boyfriend said that the burger was incredible and hit the spot) As far as cocktails go, I am a martini drinker and would highly recommend the 'Vinyl Martini' it was such a unique take on the dirty martini. Although Vinyl is a steakhouse they have a lot to offer any dietary restrictions. This is my ideal steakhouse -- great food that feels both comforting and modern in a chill, non-pretentious atmosphere. The filet was well seasoned and cooked to the requested medium rare. The roasted broccolini was charred just enough to soften its texture and had a great balance of flavors with hints of citrus, a touch of spice and sweetness. The truffle mac and cheese was classic comfort food, large enough to share. For dessert, the key lime mousse was excellent. Smooth, creamy and tart with plenty of graham cracker crust layered in glassware. Hearing Bowie and Velvet Underground playing overhead throughout dinner was the cherry on top to an exceptional experience and the perfect way to end my trip to New York. read more
