They tried to explain that it was a safety hazard because they mixed drinks at the bar. What? When I have dinner by myself, I'm generally just trying to read the news or whatever. The mixture of modernized, industrial brick, and plants gives you all the chill vibes you need to enjoy a day working away from the typical office. The location is in EaDo, in a converted warehouse, turned co-working space that happens to sell food. Do not come thinking there will be a full array of options to choose from. There is one breakfast entree that is plated; otherwise, it's lattes and scones and other assorted pastry and breakfast taco offerings. The vibe, however, is immaculate. The interior boasts potted plants all over the landscape and there is a mix of lo-fi music piped overhead and the hum of brunch dates, research paper meet-ups and chill coffee sessions. The interior features bistro tables and chairs, artificial grass and heat lamps. Cozy enough to enjoy in late summer and early winter in Houston, but not much more. My order was incorrect, but I won't let that deter me from coming back another time I'm in the area. It's a counter-service joint with extremely friendly staff who know the menu and even can tell you the best milk to pair your drink with. We had our house closing meeting here. Ordered coffee and breakfast tacos. Coffee was very good. Very upbeat and has a nice vibe environment. The employees there were all young and very friendly. We left and I dropped my wallet there. Someone found it and returned to store manager, Morgan. I called in when I noticed I didn't have my wallet. Talked to an associate there who was super nice and friendly. I left my number so someone could call me back. Morgan called back and stated he has the wallet and needed me to identify it. Brass Tacks has been on my list for awhile after seeing it on a list for best coffee shops in Houston. Came here on a weekend afternoon with a friend and it was really busy, as expected. All seats and tables were taken inside, but they do have tables set up outside. Additionally, there is a tent outside with lights covering some benches. We didn't get the pleasure to sit inside, but sitting outside worked out better so we could hear ourselves talk better. When you first walk in, I was a little confused where to line up because the menu is placed above the pick up area. And there is a menu at the cashier, but if you don't know what you're ordering, this can be the cause of long lines/wait times. Not sure if there might be a better way to give customers easier access to their menu. However, I must say that all the staff I encountered were really pleasant and helpful. They also keep the space pretty clean by going around and picking up all the trash, cups, etc. I didn't feel like ordering coffee so late in the day, so I opted for the iced taro latte. Definitely a different take than the typical taro latte you could get at a bubble tea shop. The taro taste was very subtle, which was a little disappointing to me. My friend ordered the Jack Daniel's bread pudding. It wasn't too sweet, but I also didn't really taste the hint of Jack Daniel's. The common theme I'm seeing here is subtle flavors. So if you're looking to have strong flavors, these items are not it. I will definitely have to come back to try the coffee though since I see so many raving about it. There are 2 parking lots available, on each side of the building. They definitely need to repave one of the parking lots because it is full of pot holes, just waiting to mess up your tires. I have recently found out about this place and have been a few times since starting my online course. This is a great place for studying or doing some work, as long as you don't mind the noise, find parking, and can find a seat. I usually go in the evenings and it still be packed but I haven't had to turn around yet. So far my favorites have been the S'mores latte, and their breakfast hammich. They're both full of flavor and delicious. I did try the Cuban sandwich once and don't think I liked it as much. And during my most recent visit there was hair in my sandwich. They let me change it for their fries but those weren't good to me so I barely ate them. Im hoping my next visit is back to how my first experience was. read more

Yes parking was ridiculous, and I ended up parking a street and a half away. The inside is super modern, with a lot of seating everywhere. They even have a little upstairs area with more seating. It was super packed with a lot of people on their laptops, or hanging out. We opted to eating outside since there's also tons of tables and seating outside and I was a nice day. You order at the counter and have to wait for them to call your name to get your drinks and food. I got the Ferrero Rocher CB Latte, which I think is a seasonal drink, since it was written on a mini chalkboard. Only assuming. It came with gold dust/glitter, which I thought was cute. It was a really good and glorified chocolate milk sort of taste. I wasn't mad at it. I didn't taste my mom's beet drink, but she said it was as expected, strong beet taste. I ordered the egg salad sandwich, which reminded me of the way a krabby patty looks in the SpongeBob cartoon. To my surprise though, the inside of the bun was toasted and buttery, and the lettuce was crunchy and fresh. The egg salad had a great pickle, dill and seasoning taste. Super tasty. The patty melt was super juicy and cheesy. The Cuban could have used more meat, but it was still great. Now the star of the show, the bread pudding. It had a lot of chocolate chips and pistachios??? Looking to study or get some remote work done on your laptop? This is one of the best coffee shops in Houston to get productive! First off, they have 2 parking lots and plenty of street parking. That's already a win in my book. Walking in, it's a cool industrial style vibe with a lot of plants scattered around. All the plants are for sale btw if you're into that. Tons of seating, various tables, personal nooks, a little 2nd floor loft type seating area, bar seating, and everything in between. The multitude of power outlets is a big win in my book too. I'd say the only downside to studying here is sometimes the noise level. The coffee shop's music is a little loud and just the hustle/bustle of all the people here. This is an easy fix to overlook though as long as you bring your own headphones. As far as food and drinks goes, their menu is pretty expansive for a coffee shop. Espresso, hot/cold coffee, tea, tacos, sandwiches, salads/bowls, snacks, etc. My go to drinks here are their pumpkin spice lattes if they're in season (guaranteed better than Starbucks's PSL), charcoal latte, or taro latte. All of their alternative milk options are a plus too, my go to being either almond or coconut milk. Overall, Brass Tacks is definitely the coffee shop of Houston made for studying. I've become a bit of a regular here whenever I need a change up from my usual study space. The only problem with how great this place is, is that it gets full fast. If you come here after 12pm, it's a hit or miss if you'll get a table or not. Otherwise, get your work grind on! read more

The last time I went, my cousin told me I had to try the iced pumpkin spice latte with pumpkin foam on top and oh my gawdddd so delicious!!! I got the Smores Latte, while my cousin got the Iced Matcha Latte. I really liked my smores latte, it tasted like chocolate and it had the perfect combo of sweetness with a slight coffee taste. The Iced Matcha Latte however was sweet (vanilla syrup was added), but the matcha was grainy which ruined my cousin's drink experience. I got the turkey avocado club to go with my drink and it was a good sandwich! They added a good amount of avocado, and the bacon was crispy. The service was great! Our drinks came out in a reasonable time & my barista helped recommend a drink for me that fitted my criteria :) Parking can be tricky. I came here around 12 and I was lucky to find parking at the private lot, but it fills up quickly so you have to get lucky with parking. This is definitely a place for getting work done. They play music loudly so if that bothers you, then I don't suggest going here. Lots of people here get work done, but its a lively atmosphere with lots of chatter, so it's not completely silent. Inside it was a little chilly, and the wifi took a while to connect, but I did connect to it after a few minutes of trying. 2 hours later the wifi disconnected from my laptop and won't reconnect again same with my ipad, so I wasn't able to get anymore work done Overall, Brass Tacks is a solid cafe to study/do work at in Houston, and everyone should try it at least once! This is an awesome place to grab coffee & food and do work! There is plenty of seating with outlets abound. The decor is great and gives off chill yet productive vibes. My favorite area is upstairs as it gives you some privacy and there aren't people walking back and forth as much. I ordered a hot charcoal latte with soy milk and a homemade black bean hummus. The charcoal latte was super yummy and comes in a huge mug (if you get it for here). I loved the hummus plate as well! The black bean hummus tastes wholesome, fresh, and is super creamy. This place is so cute. Apparently I have been missing out because I didn't know this existed. Thanks to YELP, I was able to find this amazing spot. This place is great for brunch with a lover or a friend. There were a lot of people there studying or working. The downside that kept it from 5 stars was that it offers outdoor seating but none of it is shaded. The other thing is if you are sitting in the far back or side of the place, you can't hear your name being called. A buzzers or system that text when your food/drink is ready would be very helpful. The staff was friendly and moved quickly. The food was fair. The fries, delicious! I didn't want to take anpixtute if the place for privacy of thos me there. There's a surprisingly big parking lot with free parking; the interior is really modern and creative with the layout. Not only is it larger than expected, the aesthetics on the inside is well done for a coffee date or just a place to study and chill. We got coffees and breakfast. Honestly the food is average/ slightly above average; and same with the coffee. In my opinion, the location and interior makes up for it. My fiancé visits this place every time he is home. I started to tag along and I absolutely love it. The servers are so nice and are patient with all the customers. I love the vibe of the place. It is so chill and everybody is just trying to relax. There are so many seating options, some tucked away, some outside, some tables, couches, etc. I love that there is more than coffee options, and there is food. While there I ordered the butterfly lemonade and now I get it every time. My fiancé gets the Carmel Macchiato. For food, the breakfast tacos are a MUST. I'm always looking for the best coffee in town, and have to say the drink here was pretty good but not the best ever. I had an iced vanilla latte with oat milk, and it was tasty. What DID impress me was the breakfast taco I had- absolutely delicious. Could be because I've been deprived of Texas-made tacos for so long, but this bacon egg cheese avocado goodness made up for lost time. Regret not getting another honestly, the salsa was delicious too! Definitely recommend coming here if you need some working space, or just want to catch up with a friend. After seeing all the great reviews I did go in with high expectations. Brass Tracks lived up to the hype. The establishment is soooo roomy and open! Plenty of seating of different types (couch, tables & chairs, bar area, cubbies, outside patio, stair with pillow seating) you name it they've got it! The music playing was great as well! They have a nice variety of food and beverages on their menu. With all the substitutions you need. The baristas are friendly and knowledgeable. All of them gave off very happy positive vibes.
