Let me first call out the ambiance. I absolutely love the interior of this place. The service was great, our server was super helpful when it came to picking out great entrees as cocktails. For starters the crudo and tartare were very well done. Fresh and citrus taste for the crudo and the tartare was rich with a great black truffle aioli We went for the steak frites and the gnocchi, both were absolutely suburb. I can confidently say that Brasserie La Banque delivers an experience that feels both elevated and inviting from the moment you walk in. The space alone is worth a visit -- soaring high ceilings, stunning architectural details, and a beautifully designed bar that immediately sets the tone. It feels grand without being stuffy. We were seated right away in a large semi-circle booth that was both cozy and spacious for our party of four -- the perfect balance of intimate and comfortable. Maddie, our server, greeted us promptly and took our drink orders. We started with a dirty martini, a crisp glass of Sancerre, and two Autumn Old Fashioneds -- all expertly prepared. From there, we asked Maddie for recommendations, and she absolutely nailed every single one. Her guidance truly shaped our evening. To start, we ordered the Pomme Frites and the Sweet & Beet Salad. The frites were a plate of crunchy, golden deliciousness -- yes, a touch salty, but in that can't-stop-eating-them kind of way. The Sweet & Beet Salad might sound like an unexpected pairing with sweet potatoes and beets, but somehow it worked beautifully. The flavors were balanced, thoughtful, and surprisingly harmonious. For mains, the Chicken Fricassée was well executed and comforting. The Boeuf Bourguignon, however, was the undeniable star of the night -- rich, deeply flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It's the kind of dish you think about the next day. The Gnocchi Parisienne was light yet decadent (if that even makes sense), pillowy and indulgent without feeling heavy. We also ordered the Market Catch -- a type of snapper none of us had ever tried before -- and it was cooked perfectly, flaky and packed with flavor. By the end of the meal, we were happily full and couldn't even consider dessert. Maddie suggested we at least pop downstairs to check out the speakeasy bar, even if we didn't grab another drink -- and we're so glad she did. I have to give Maddie the recognition she deserves. My husband and I went here for our anniversary brunch. Our server was very sweet and we didn't feel rushed. The building itself is so beautiful with the large old windows and elaborate crown molding. Came here for Charleston restaurant week and realized how small the menu really is. Very upscale inside with a open concept bar and booths. They even have a speakeasy downstairs called bar vault. The food is delicious upscale French cuisine with a twist but be prepared to pay higher prices. Lots of different pate's and escargot which I haven't seen around Charleston at all. I had the beef Bourgnon, which is off menu but so good! I'm hoping that they add it once restaurant week is over. This is a place you should probably ride share to as the parking is street parking only. The servers are very knowledgeable and friendly, saying all of the specials offhand and able to tell you the flavor profiles of anything on the menu. read more

Came here for an event in which the top floor was rented, so this won't be a formal review of the main restaurant. My experience coming for an event here was so positive, I couldn't help but write a review so hopefully other people book events here and I get to come back! The top floor is beautiful, spacious, has a private restroom and they set up a private bar. The service was honestly, amazing. People were so kind and made sure every little thing needed was taken care of, and the food was great. We had an assortment of steak, the most delicious mashed potatoes, gnocchi with crab and veggies. Last note- leave time to park, it's street parking only! read more

Great service. Probably the best duck confit I've had in the USA. The beans were a little uncooked for my liking but they were good but did I mention the duck confit? The leg had crispy skin but it was melt in yo mouth ... mmmm mmmm mmmm.... The steak frites was good but the steak lacked salt. However it was cooked to order and good. My husband had the soup à l'oignon and it was tasty but nothing to write home about. The cheese was very mild prob not a Gruyère. We enjoyed the Malbec wine too. Nice lively atmosphere. perfect place to take pictures. everything is so pretty. we started with the bread and butter, i was with 4 people and it was not nearly enough for all of us but it was yummy, 8/10. then the broccolini which had a very nice sauce on top, 7.5/10. we all got the steak with fries and it was delicious, 8/10. My husband & I were looking for a new restaurant to try for our anniversary. We saw Brasserie La Banque on the list for restaurant week & thought the menu looked good. The experience was absolutely wonderful! The atmosphere is cozy & the staff are all friendly. He made reservations for the Chef's Counter (unfortunately we were late and called to let them know but they still worked it out for us). They had a nice card printed out at our spots. At the Chef's Counter we got to see the food prepared in front of us. For starters we got the county pate, snapper crudo, & escargot. All delicious but the escargot was the best. For entrées we did the boeuf borguignon and chicken fricassee. Both were to die for!!!! That chicken was the best chicken I've ever had. For dessert we did the pumpkin speculoos tart and chocolate entrement. If you like pumpkin & fall flavors like my husband, the tart is the way to go. I personally am a chocolate fiend & it was new on the menu. I truly hope they keep it! Also, a huge shout out to Chef David! He noticed how we were watching them cook & talking about the food. I was eyeing the crispy Brussels sprouts & he asked if we would like to try some (he also checked if we had any food allergies before providing us a sample). Beautiful spot on Broad Street- I don't usually dine on this side of town but I had been dying to see the inside of this spot. The service was great- our waitress was super informative and knowledgeable about the specials. We started with the cheese board and the tartare. I was not a fan of the tartare at all. The meat tasted flavorless, the color seemed strange and honestly the dish was flavorless. I make it a point to always try this if a menu has it and out of all the tartares I have tried in Charleston, thus was my least favorite. I also wasn't a fan that both appetizers we ordered were served with the benne cracker. My entree definitely made up for my food experience- the mussels and frites were delicious and I would definitely order again. Went to Brasseir last night for their Restaurant Week special menu. You're offered an app, entree, and dessert for $45. I had the lobster bisque, steak au poivre, and the profiteroles for dessert. OMG - it was all so good. Bisque had little pieces of lobster, the steak was perfectly cooked (medium rare), and the frites were ample and crispy. Perhaps the best came last - the profiteroles were like eclairs but with ice cream instead of custard filling - sooooo good. The staff was amazing - so attentive and friendly. Check out the speakeasy in the basement before dinner. It's quiet, cozy, and has phenomenal custom cocktails. We'll be back!!! read more

Stopped by on a Saturday morning for breakfast, while playing tourist in our own city. The service was great and we really enjoyed that the quiche Lorraine as well as the French 75 cocktail. If you have dinner here, make sure you check out their sister bar downstairs called Bar Vauté. Bar Vauté is the only bar in Charleston that is below sea level. Parking can be challenging so plan accordingly. There is no valet and it is metered street parking only. If you are visiting Charleston, the restaurant is conveniently located to popular tourist sites like the provost dungeon, the powder museum, rainbow row, Washington Square, and the South Carolina historical society museum. read more

You will have an immediate "I feel like I'm in Paris" feeling upon entering because everything about this brasserie feels like it! I reserved myself for brunch on Saturday. I was so looking forward to the Honey Almond Yogurt as I am addicted to this dish and order it all over town when I can. I also couldn't resist the Roasted Beet Salad--- done superbly with fourme d'ambert, rosemary vierge, eapelette and pistachio. The beets had just the right amount of sweetness to them. The service was friendly and attentive. I did disclose to the server and the house manager that I was an Elite reviewer for Yelp and the staff were only too nice to pay special attention and ensure that everything was satisfactory...So much so I booked them again for brunch in a couple of weeks and will be trying some other menu items - the omelet dishes looked wonderful but I don't want to forget the Brioche French Toast that was being ordered all around me. The patisserie items include a house made brioche, fresh baked croissant, the croissant au chocolat was suggested to me by my server, but having just come off the holidays I am currently in the process of easing off sugar and bakery items for awhile but will keep that item in mind for the future for sure! read more

Did not have a great experience. I was in town for several days and this was my least favorite dining experience. The building is amazing and interactions with the hostess were perfect. Unfortunately it went down hill from there. Our server was not very interested to be there. It was a shame. Observed other servers that were very lively and engaging. Not attentive, did not come back to ask for a 2nd round of drinks, just lost sale for the restaurant. Waters were kept full by another staff member, but our waitress was lacking. The apps were very good. The entrees were OK. Not really french food, but a "spin" on french food and spun in the wrong direction for me. The entrees lacked flavor. It is like the difference between a color and black and white photo. The food was black and white no depth. If that is what you like you'll probably enjoy the meal. We were across the street at a quaint liquor store called the Tavern at Rainbow Row; the storekeeper directed us to a speakeasy below BLB to sample a local whiskey they sold at the shop. What a GREAT find in Charleston! Spent 1 day in town touring a couple of great old mansions and stumbled upon this wonderful French restaurant after walking the battery. Beautiful old building wonderfully decorated. Cassie, our server, attending the college of Charleston was a delight, very attentive with very good recommendations. Started off with perfect cocktails and an amazing baked Brie. The steak/frittes and the salmon special were delicious (only comment - would have preferred the steak presented whole) Finished the meal with the chocolate entrement- decadent. We had a great experience last night. The food was great. Started with chilled mussels and 1/2 dozen oysters. Scallops were incredible for an entree. Also had the crap stuffed flounder. The cocktails were very good. They have an old fashioned that isn't as sweet as typical. Morgan was a fantastic server. She knows a lot about the various dishes and drinks. We walked past this place in the French corridor on our way to the pineapple fountain and rainbow row homes. I thought it was an old church by the beautiful front door but took a closer look to find it was a restaurant. After our tourist stops we went back by for some brunch. What a happy little find. This place is a French dream! The food is off the charts! Very fresh and you can tell they use real ingredients. The service (shout out to Josh he was lovely) was too notch. The host was also so kind and welcoming. We opted for the table service mimosas and served several brunch menu items including the croque, eggs Benedict, peach French toast and crossiant. There wasn't a single crumb left on any of the plates. We sat in one of the large back room booths, very comfortable and cozy for our party of four. The room was large with Large windows and very high ceilings, beautifully adorned with French details. The service, food and atmosphere made for a standout and memorable experience. We had a lovely Mother's Day brunch at Brasserie La Banque. We were able to make a reservation and weee seated promptly when they opened. Some tables had nice signs with reservation names on them, but I'm guessing those were there for people who booked directly from the restaurant. Our server was attentive, and helpful. We started with the pain au chocolat to share. My mom had the eggs Benedict which she said were perfectly cooked and my sister had the cheeseburger and home fries which she also loved. (Luckily, she shared her home fries with me:)) The quiche was very good, but I would have liked to have more of a side salad with it. Brasserie La Banque is open and bright and i really like the decor. I would definitely recommend if you have not been! I hear they also have a great dinner and it's a great spot to go for cocktails after work. read more

We started with the Crab Ravigote and very tasty. My salad was the Local Mixed zgreen with lardons , pear and a champagne vinaigrette...I think this was my favorite part of the whole meal! So delicate. For dinner I chose the hanger steak, it's one of my favorite cut. Brasserie did not disappoint with this dish. However, where they fell short was dessert. My husband says...how does a French restaurant fail on dessert? It was a crepe dish that was just wet mush, without any distinguishable flavor, except for the burnt Carmel. I was excited to show my parents this well known restaurant and was exceptionally excited to try their speakeasy bar downstairs. It's a great spot if you arrive a little before your reservation! My mom couldnt stop raving about the food, said it was the best meal she has had in a very very long time! I have to agree. We loved our entrees, my steak was cooked perfectly. I have to push the brussel sprouts, they were out of this world. Even if you dont like them get them!!! Cooked perfectly and so tasty. I even tried frog legs for the first time! Been meaning to checkout this brownstone corner restaurant at the end of Broad St. I made a reservation via Open Table and was happy to snag one on a Friday night! Overall great ambiance and loved the interior of the restaurant! Upon being seated we were greeted by I think Sierra (?) who was most helpful and explained any questions we had. You order everything up front so that way they can keep the plates coming as the evening progresses. My friend and I never tried escargot so that was a must and went with oysters since it was in-season. For entree my friend got the bouillabaisse and I chose the mixed greens. I like the the cocktail menu is succinct and not overwhelming, had a good time trying a few here and there. The thyme one was pretty unique and the French 75 and Sidecar were stellar. Had to save room for dessert too so don't forget to ask about the dessert menu! Overall to me the signature crepe cake and cocktails were the star of the show. I tried my friend's bouillabaisse broth, found it very salty. The escargot sauce had a nice taste to it, I liked dipping the bread in the sauce! The texture of the snails was a surprise! I thought it'd be rubbery but they had a nice gaminess to it. Good sized oysters. My mixed greens salad was tasty with the endives, radish's, apples, and champagne vinaigrette but I would pass on the lardons unless you're into smokiness - that was super potent. Crepe cake was lovely - not overly sweet! 24 hours later had the worst food poisoning by far in my life! My friend was able to hold it down with pepto but I was struggling all day Saturday LOL felt like a character from Family Guy, couldn't even keep liquids down haha I messaged them privately on Open Table to say "hey just a heads up!" But I didn't hear back. I think it was the luck of the draw in raw oysters - that's the gamble you take so this is my lesson learned I'll never do raw oysters again. They were from the east coast and I should of been more mindful because earlier that week the temperatures were unseasonably warm but didn't think anything of it at the time. Our bartender David along with a few others tonight were attentive, informative, kind, and animated. We are new in town and he gave us recommendations for newbies. Total disaster. Formerly one of our favorite places. What happened? Tuesday night. Staff could care less. Abandoned hostess station. Sat for 25 minutes with no one coming over. Got up, asked for help of hostess (she had way better things to do) She went over and talked to bar tender. We waited another 10 minutes.Finally flagged down a bus boy. Another 5 minutes, waitress comes over "Oh so sorry, there was a mix up..unacceptable" we wait again, no drinks. Finally move to the bar. How tough is 2 glasses of wine? Only one order made it through. Apparently, all the staff is either on their phone, or like New York City in the 1990s, the real party is on the 2nd floor - or in the basement. It was made 100% clear to us that we didn't matter. Food, when it finally got there, was excellent. Not sure if manager, hostess, wait staff just couldn't care, or were sleep deprived, or something more interesting was going on in their lives. Shocking breakdown of service over and over. Manager did come by, the good ole' boy "let us make this right" and then he didn't stick around to actually deliver food.
