The worst meal I had in Savannah- and that's based solely on the food, not service or ambiance. The interior is beautiful, and the staff were attentive, but the menu strives so hard for culinary sophistication that it sacrifices balance and flavor in the process. Even for a focused menu, it's burdened by obscure flavor combinations and disappointingly modest portions. If you're only skimming this review: sticking with the classics is my advice. Pork schnitzel was a winner, Wagyu steak is difficult to mess up, and even the $22 burger looked like a safe bet. I'd avoid venturing into the experimental offerings, unless you're brave, or maybe have a more elevated taste than I. The Vidalia Onion Brûlée was the most bearable. While the texture was grossly reminiscent of a pâté (or dog food) spread onto a paper-thin slice of bread, the flavors themselves were pleasant enough. I cannot recommend the Creamy Cioppino, under any circumstances. Sadly the worst fish soup I've ever tasted. Just instant salt shock- the soup was inedible. A couple of curious friends had spoonfuls, and each had the same grimacing reaction. The steak tartare was also a miss, very over-engineered. Happy hour here is a must! It's from 2-5pm everyday (including Sundays!). We snuck in on a Sunday to the cozy bar to grab a drink and some of their delicious grab dip! The crab dip was packed with flavor and crab meat - it came with these freshly fried pita chips for dipping. Yummy! The drink specials on happy hour include wine, beer, and a signature cocktail option that changes daily. The bartenders signature cocktail for this date was a gimlet. It was delicious- lime, simple, and gin! So refreshing! This bar is located in the front of the Drayton hotel which was also a beautiful hotel. Update: as management reached out a few hours later, and was kind and responsive - I appreciate the honesty and direct openness to feedback of the team. The parmesan tots were not cheesy and had half a tbsp of parm on what seemed like regular bagged tots.. The burger was fine, just really really heavy for 11 AM. The norwegian hollandaise had smoked salmon, which was a little raw and way too much fish for the plate. we were expecting thin smoked salmon similar to lox. They also charge per soda, which is nowhere on the menu!!! My bloody mary wasn't spicy and i got maybe 3 sips from it with the giant ice cubes they add. Service wasn't great either, our drinks were empty for the most part and she never even checked in after we got our food. We have been for dinner and it was much better and honestly 5 stars- i have a separate review for dinner- so if you are going to eat here, here is my warning not to attend for brunch. And the chocolate cake was a perfect ending. They were very busy as one of the few restaurants serving for Christmas Eve and I think they had filled every reservation slot. I just wanted to take a moment to thank the chef and staff of St. Neo's for a very memorable meal! The restaurant was walkable from our hotel and I saw that they had steak frites on their menu so I made a reservation online to celebrate my birthday. The host greeted us as we walked in and when I gave him my name he wished me a happy birthday which I thought was very sweet. Our server Stephanie also wished me a happy birthday and she was incredibly warm, attentive, and professional. They both made me feel very welcome and comfortable there. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside and the ambiance was sophisticated yet cozy. Stephanie let us know right away that the steak frites was sold out but they did have a NY strip steak special that came with mashed potatoes and broccolini which is what I ordered. It was incredible! So flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also ordered the appetizer special which was fried green tomatoes with a shrimp remoulade - again, incredible! The beef bourguignon that my husband ordered was also delicious (I had to try some obviously!) The chef brought us our dishes which I've never experienced at a restaurant before and I thought it was so special that he took the time to come out and interact with us. I also had a vodka "Dirty Enough" which was crafted perfectly. I only wish I had saved enough room for dessert! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The bottle had obviously been open for a while because it was terrible. It's sometimes what you get when you order wine by the glass. The reason I would not recommend this restaurant is because the service from the hostess desk all the way to the end was 90% non-existent. The hostess said two words, walked us to our table. The waitress never introduce herself to us, not even a smile. She took our order, didn't ask how I wanted my eggs. After she brought us our food, she never came back to our table to ask us how things were. She did refill my water so I'm happy for that. A few of us shared a bottle of sparkling Chardonnay which was nice, and while the burger sounded good, it'd been a while since I had something green so I got the arugula and pear salad and shared fries with a friend. Some people commented that the salad was heavily dressed but I actually love salads like that so I was happy lol. The fries were also 5/5. The vibes of the restaurant were by far the best part. Made a reservation for a party of 8 and were seated promptly, but we received lackluster service afterwards. One of our guests expressed her concerns about her gluten intolerance, and this information not shared with whoever brought the appetizers, as she was served what looked to be the same bread that was not gluten-free. It took over 20 minutes for our server to come back around so we could ask her about the bread, and they eventually realized their mistake and brought over slices of toasted, square sandwich bread as the replacement. Once we received our checks, we realized why the service was subpar - a 20% gratuity was automatically added. It was clear that our server (I will not say their name) had no incentive to check up on us or provide any additional assistance beyond the bare minimum, as service throughout the night was lackluster. The food was truly average - classic pay-too-much-for-a-small-portion type place. $31 for a bone-in piece of chicken with no sides was when we realized we had made a mistake coming here. My husband and I enjoyed our dining experience at St. Neo's. When we walked in the doors all the way to when we left the restaurant it was all a lovely time. The restaurant is located within the Drayton hotel. The hotel is at the corner of Drayton street and Bay Street. The options for parking are on the street or park in a city garage. Parking on the street depending on day and time is free, check city website for details. City garage parking is easy an affordable The Whitaker garage is not far from the hotel. You can also valet your car with the hotel. St. Neo's is on the first floor of the hotel. It has a southern and French influence. I made a reservation and asked for a seat by a window. The restaurant is lovely and spacious with a full bar. Our server was wonderful. We started the evening with a cocktail. I had the As you like it with vodka. I tried it at the suggestion of our server. I described what I tend to gravitate towards. She said it would suit me. I loved it! My husband and I shared the charred rustic bread for our first course. They make their bread in house. It was delicious. The trout dip, omg so good! And those deviled eggs with Tabasco lemon wedges were so good. The salmon mousse was ok, not our favorite. But there was nothing wrong with it at all. The trout dip was just sooo much better! Next we had the I had the deviled crab and my husband the scallops. Both scrumptious! We shared the red snapper entree. The succotash with bacon along with the crispy skin yum! Let's talk about dessert, because it was not a let down either. We both got the apple pie panna cotta. Actual pieces of pie crust and salted apple caramel filling goodness on one side, then creamy smooth panna cotta on the other. The textures, flavors, and presentation were fun and playful. The service for our entire meal was excellent. We never had to ask for anything to be refilled. No one rushed us. A manager stopped by to ask us how our meal was going. And a member of the staff walked my husband to the restroom because it was in a hard to describe area. He did not want him to get lost. So he walked him there! All in all, we enjoyed our experience.
