Not a meat eater, so had the grilled cheese on rye with a house salad. Nothing stood out, decent, traditional grilled cheese. Nice volley ball court out back, decent size bar with nice TV's but weird angles. Sitting at the edge Of the bar, you will get a stuff neck watching games. Employees are key to GREAT ratings in my opinion. And having the bartender talk to another employee about the shits she had for the last 3 days wasn't appetizing. I've been parking here on my way down to Ohare and back for the last 3 years or so. It's a place with lots of character, I like it. Usually when returning stateside this would be my first meal, simple Brat and fries. I've never had anything else, some of the other items I saw others eating didn't look so great. Keep it simple here, get a brat. Sadly, they've more than doubled there long term parking, and it's no longer graduated by length of stay. It's $8 a night now (and it's still empty all the time) Too much considering you are paying for round trip buses from there to Ohare. We don't really go here. It's in Kenosha, way out past the I, and I'm from the northside of Racine, near the lake. Too far away to go there for drinks, and the food is okay, but not enough to draw me back. But if it's band night, this place rules. What a great stage! It's really one of the best in the area, with pro-lighting and sound. It's a great venue for mid-level up-and-comers and old fogeys still stumping the grind. They do a big ol local music festival every year, but I've never played it, so I can't really speak of it. I know they do like 4 or 5 stages, cuz this place is like the Tardis, and rooms just open up into more rooms, back behind the scenes. Must stop destination!!! Visiting family in Milwaukee I asked where should I stop to get Wisconsin beer to take back to Illinois, the entire room blurted out "Brat Stop!!!" Stopping there would add 30 mins to my to my 2 hour drive home but I decided it must be worth it. I pull up, looks kinds dark inside from the parking lot and only the bar/ restaurant was open. I awkwardly walked in just hoping I could still buy a 6 Pk of Moon Man to take home. I was soooo relieved being greeted immediately by the bar tender Trish & Liz. She instantly made me feel welcomed and let me go shopping with her for beer. Trish was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and described each type of beer ect she had to offer. A 6 pk turned into a variety case of different beers I couldn't resit wanting after learning about others I had no clue about. She then asked me if I wanted to order cheese curds, (how did she know I wanted them! Lol ) I told her I just ate and wish I was hungry because I secretly want them. Trish then took me back shopping and told me of all the cheese curds they had to offer!! SOLD!! Trish even put my curds in a bag with an ice bag in it which I thought was above exceptional service considering I only mentioned once I was driving back to Illinois. I've been back to the Brat Stop at least two or three times since my last review and let me tell you the Friday night Walleye dinner with the potato salad is awesome as is the jumbo shrimp lunch. Service has been great each time and now it's a must stop for my family. And one time we caught a really great band. A friend asked me recently, "Oh, the Brat Stop in Kenosha? Is that place nice?" And I answered, "No it's not really nice. It desperately needs a remodel, the bathrooms are a little icky and the 70's style succo walls are hopelessly outdated. I actually stumbled across this place leaving Wisconsin and had no idea about it. I was told to try Brats or Polishes while in Wisconsin so why not stop in. glad I did. I think this place is amazing. my rating is based on an overall experience. the service was amazing at the bar. the bartender asked and called me by name, every time. she was on it. wish I could remember her name to throw it out there, but I could tell she was there for quite some time, or the head bartender. excellent customer service. the atmosphere was great. the place is huge. there was a stage which they may have live bands play or shows. nothing was happening when I went, but that's ok. I'm sure it's a great bar during sporting events. they have TVs. they have a store connected to this place as well. they sell food, beer, and gifts for vacationers. I actually picked up some shot glasses. the spotted cow is sold there so make sure to try a bottle. the food was great. I had the cheddar brat and traditional brat, American potato salad, and Cole slaw (it was good but I should have got the kraut for my brats...don't know what I was thinking). either way the slaw was great and I used it to top my brats anyways. they serve onions and relish on the side in containers along with mustard (ketchup is there but eh. who uses ketchup on a brat anyways?!). the menu had a lot of items so there is a lot to try. The menu has changed slightly from the last time I was here. If your getting the cheddarwarst be sure to asked for the cheddar on top as well. They use to serve it that way, now you have to ask for it. You can't beat a Wisconsin brat with a nice cold spotted cow beer. read more

Located right over the Wisconsin border off 94 this is MUST STOP for lunch or beers. Excellent old school Wisco bar/restaurant with a stage for a band and a HUGE bar. Tons of options...but I highly recommend getting a brat of some sort, being that is what they're known for after all! My personal favorite is the cheddar-wurst. It's a must-visit each time I come home & we have a trip from Ohare airport back up to Wisconsin...considering it's quite difficult to find a good brat in Cali!!! The decor and the atmosphere left much to be desired. That or I am just expecting too much. Either way I have to admit the quality of the food off sets the whole thing. Those brats were great. Granted, they oversold the whole Garlic Brat thing. Nicely flavored, but a bit mild to my taste. What do I know, I enjoy myself at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. Still, the food was excellent. We had no plans to come here, but when a chain restaurant my young kids liked had an hour wait, we just kept driving and hit upon this. I mean, how can you pass up a huge CHEESE sign? It looks and feels like a dive bar and kind of smells like a basement, but the staff was nice and the food was decent. Also, the Bloody Mary was pretty damn good. (That said, for as much as they tout their Bloody Marys and offer a huge selection of Bloody Mary merchandise and ingredients right inside the front door...I'd have expected an actual selection but they just had a single Bloody Mary on the menu.) Monday night with football on at 9pm I call to see what time kitchen is open until. I get voicemail but Google says they are open until midnight. Get there at 9:30. Sit at bar and I ask for a menu and bartender nods at me like I'm an idiot and tells me he closed the kitchen because they hadn't had any food orders for a while. I ask why they didn't answer the phone when I called and he seemed upset that me, the customer was upset. Never I will go back. What can I say that hasn't been already? I kept driving past this place and never stopped in until one day Bobby Nelson's was closed and I needed to pick up some goodies on my way home. I hit the Brat Stop's grocery section, and was hooked. They have so many fresh, declicious choices from cheese curds, to spreads, to brats and sausages to condiments and drinks. Eventually I made it to the restaurant and the place is HUGE inside, it's really suprising! The food was GREAT. Good, old fashioned no frills brats and even lots of other options like quesadillas, burgers and other bar-type food. Also a great selection of beers, both bottled and on tap. Definitely stop in if you get a chance! Only complaint is apparently smoking is still allowed inside near the bar which we were eating at, which can put a damper on enjoying your food. It wasn't bad when we were there, but there is definitely some possibility of it getting nasty in there. The place is big enough you could easily pick a table a good 100 feet away from the bar, we just didn't think of it. Food is cheap, I only gave it 2 $$ because it's hard not to get beer which might push you a LITTLE over $10 a head for 1 beer and a brat platter with potato salad. read more

When at the Brat Stop, you want to order the brats. I order the Rueben...don't be like me. The brat is really god. The Reuben tastes like they made it right away and then let it sit under heat lamps for 15 min while the tasty brats were cooking to golden brown. The Reuben was soggy and uninspired. Those brats tho...really special. Fries are meh. Everybody loves the Cole slaw "it's amazing", said several folks. Service was a bit slow, but just shut up and eat your brat. read more

We came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. But the full menu was open, sooooooo..... Cue up a Reuben and some thick A** chicken wings. They are a breaded, gooey mess that'll leave you single if ordered on a first date. Also, huge. Bigger than life huge. The Reuben was standard Wi Bar fare. Good, but not going to compete on the "craft" corn beef circuit. (If that's a thing) Still, portions are for the full figured and prices are reasonable. We will be back. This place has a certain vibe that could be enjoyable. But I really don't think the food is worth the hype. Every time I've been here it's been just mediocre. And the service isn't good either. Stopped into the Brat Stop for breakfast and a Bloody Mary. We asked for spicy! we got tomato juice. It was actually sweet and not at all flavorful. They used to have good Bloody Mary's well I guess things change. Breakfast came out fast. The home fries never saw a fryer. they were luke warm and mushy. The bacon was very under cooked and inedible as served. The english muffin was right out of the package and not toasted. The brat was warm and tasty. Took our food and drink order then we got our drinks after a long wait. Then after about an hour we got our food. Never saw the waitress in between. Ok, so I get that that kitchen was backed up, but at least keep the drinks coming and try to apologize for the delay. Missed some parts of the order that we never got. One sandwich arrived a good five minutes after everything else. After finishing the lunch (nearly dinner by now), she said she had the checks for us and we could see them in her hand, but she disappeared again before delivering the checks. We paid cash so we would not have to wait for a credit card to be run. Otherwise we might still be there. Will not go again. The cheese curds were really good, but everything else was terrible. One child ordered a corn dog that was cold when it came out. My son and husband ordered a brat. Neither were good and my son's made him sick. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes. They forgot the tomatoes and it was so greasy I couldn't eat more than half. Pros - good Bloody Mary mix. Cons - pretty much everything else. Food took over 30 minutes to arrive. The brat patty on my breakfast sandwich was burnt. One of our orders didn't arrive until another 15 minutes after the rest. My wife's BLT arrived with mayo, even though it was ordered without. The replacement took another 15 minutes to arrive and tasted fishy. Decent place to grab a drink, but avoid the food. read more
