If you are into a kitschy eating experience this is your place. Not much a has changed around here since they opened including the carpet on the walls of the booths and the lights on the ceilings in the stage area, or the retro space job on the ceiling. The food is great, the service is friendly, the beer and beverages flow and there is even a shop in the back where you buy some cheese, brats, sweatshirts or postcards to commemorate the journey. But I will NEVER go to this business again. SHAME ON YOU! So I spoke to the establishment, who was able to determine what happened. It does not appear that this was intentional. WI is known for cheese and brats. Well, I don't like regular brats. Regular brats have very little flavor to them. But this place is the only place I know that has flavored brats. I drive all the way here for them twice a year: once in the summer and once in the winter. It is worth the trip. I love the cajun brat and all of it's spices. I adore the garlic brat. Like, you can NEVER have too much garlic. And the veal brat is something to behold. Very tasty indeed.The cheese curds are the best in WI. You cannot go wrong with the broasted chicken special! Delicious. This is a restaurant that has a deli. You can purchase brats to go to throw on the grill yourself. They also sell the brat buns and sauerkraut. And make sure to try their bacon selection. Good stuff to bring home as well. Great beer selection, for the bar and to go! They have a stage, but I know I will never be here when they use it since I am so far from home. I don't think it is my kind of crowd either. I would like to view a football or basketball game here. The place is a total dive, it is in desperate need for renovations and WI is slacking in practicing the mandates associated with the pandemic. What a shithole! Walked in and immediately knew I was in a "hazmat" zone. I then met the bartender who was too busy doing shots with the staff to pay attention to me. I made a simple request to watch hokey and was given the opportunity to move and follow her instructions. 4 people at the bar and baseball wins over hockey. This place might have been cool once. I've been coming to the Brat Stop for food and drink since before I was 21. Who used to come over the border into Wisconsin to get beer when we're underaged :-). It's been somewhat renovated here and there over the years but it's always been dependable for decent food, clean tables and bar, laid back atmosphere, and live music. I do recommend that if you want to buy various Wisconsin cheese and sausage and novelties, go down the road to Mars Cheese Castle or Tim and Tom's. On my recent visit , I had a brat and a drink. The price was a little higher than I hoped, but the ambience and the cool female bartender made up for it. Other guests near me were a little obnoxious, including a woman who use the F-word for every other word. Aside from her, the other customers were all enjoying their groups at their tables. I'll definitely return because this is the legendary Brat Stop and I've been coming here for decades. I still get what I come for, including a break from horrendous travel on I-94. read more

The 1 star is for the SHOP only... not sure about the restaurant, bar etc... I am visiting from TN and just wanted to take some quality cheese and brats home......Get rid of the lady in the shop... she is rude!!! I would have spent probably 4 times what I did..... if I hadn't felt like I was an inconvenience.... and there was nobody else in there... I walked around and checked out the bar/restaurant/stage, looks like fun, the girls at the desk spoke, were friendly, ask if they could help etc... you know... hospitality!! eat and drink there but until they make a personnel change... avoid the shop and buy your brats and cheese elsewhere... read more

This place may be the biggest tourist trap in Wisconsin with the exception of the Dells. I remember it was the only place on the exit to HWY 50 and Lake Geneva when it was a little bar and market. Boy has it changed and the area too, but who cares about that? I also remember when you could eat two or three brats and not feel like you used all the cash in your wallet to pay for it. Check out my pic of the prices for one measly little brat $9.49 !!! A cheddar brat comes in at $10.29. Yes it comes with fries or tots but who the hell wants that crap when it's the brat that you came here for? In fairness they do offer a 'two brat plate' at $15 which makes each brat $7.50, more reasonable but still too expensive. Enough crying already. The brats are very good to excellent and you can have sauerkraut, red cabbage or coleslaw with it along with the potatoes of your choice. Brat mustard and onions are stationed around the bar. Full menu offered if you don't want a brat. Ice cold beer in a huge chilled 20 oz schooner if you like. Huge dining area and bar. Live bands on the weekends. There a cheese lovers market attached and of course BRATS! I feel that the brats were better tasting and bigger back in the day but still a worthy stop. You could buy brats nearly anywhere else outside of this area for half the cost of one brat ordered off of the menu here and get a whole pound! Two brats puts you at the price of a Friday all you can eat Fish Fry and three brats will put you into Saturday Night Prime Rib dinner. Okay now I'm really done crying about the value. Went on a Sunday around lunch time. The place was busy, because of Packers game, but I was seated right away. Waited about 40 minutes and no waitress even came by to take an order... not even drinks. I understand wait times being longer during busy times, but this was ridiculous. Menu looked good and prices decent, but this negative experience makes me not want to give them another shot. Food in the restaurant area was really good and reasonably priced. The hostess was super friendly and helpful and our waitress was amazing and just a bundle of cheerful energy. You could tell those two young ladies really enjoy their jobs and dealing with people but the two old ladies on the other hand working the store part where the cheese and brats are are super unfriendly and have awful attitudes. I really wanted to love this place, as it has a long history behind it and sounds like it should be the best kept secret of Wisconsin. But alas, it seems to be nothing more than a tourist trap. One of the cool things about this place is that it has a ton of video games (and the machines are in fairly good shape as well) and other random machines around -- is super spacious so you do have room to wander -- and has a shop attached to it as well. Parking is also fairly generous and there's multiple entrances you can get in from. Unfortunately, the food is where this place comes short. It's not exactly bad, small portions, or very pricey... but the inconsistency of quality between dishes (and even within items in the same dish) makes it difficult to recommend this place to others when you need a guaranteed good experience. Here's what I thought about some of the items I tried: Cheese curds - Tastes a bit like fried mozzarella sticks. Batter was crisp and the cheese was firm -- not the best or worst I've had. Broasted chicken - Tender meat, a bit on the salty side. Skin was nice and crisp but I wasn't a fan of the seasoning. Steak sandwich - Pretty generous sized portion of meat but could've been a bit more flavorful (the onions were almost mandatory for flavor). Kind of juicy but I would've preferred a smaller but thicker cut of steak to a thin, large piece. Ribs - Fairly tender, but nothing special about the flavor. Mashed potatoes - Could've been better, not really fluffy or buttery enough. Prime rib sandwich - The prime rib was tasty and juicy. The cut included just the right amount of fat. This was probably the best item I had. Traditional brat and veal brat - These brats were alright, not the best I've ever had... but pretty juicy and tasty. A bit pricey for what you're getting though -- but a solid choice of something to order if you're going to a place named Brat Stop. Overall, an interesting place to go to if you're just doing some local tourism (such as visiting the Cheese Castle as well). But not a hidden culinary gem. read more
