Felt like we walked into an upscale vacation just down the street from our house with the music and low lighting. It's located in Larkinville so we knew parking would be easy. We were greeted by both the host and bartender as we walked in and were seated quickly. I recommend making a reservation just in case but we didn't need one. We started with the flatbread hummus appetizer. The hummus was AMAZiNG but the flatbread was cold. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be cold or if it just wasn't prepared correctly for us but either way I would've preferred it warm. Then I got a delicious pumpkin penne pasta that had just the right amount of spice to it. It had fried plantains on it (I think that's what they were?) and they had the texture of chicken fingers on the outside which I really liked but it was vegan. My husband got an oxtail pasta and really loved his too but said he didn't feel it was worth 40 bucks. We are typically more causal type diners but we were celebrating something so we splurged. Definitely check out the menu online before going for two reasons: I think the menu changes often, and to make sure you are comfortable with the prices. read more

We took a chance and stopped in without reservations late on a Saturday thinking there was no way but we got lucky. The host, our server and all who waited on us were fantastic. We loved the decor and the atmosphere - it was relaxed but felt upscale. The food was outstanding. We had a special called the Sweetheart Platter (for 2). Everything had incredible flavor but wasn't overdone. The scallops and steak were tender and melt in your mouth. The lobster very unique with jerk flavor and the rice and beans and the plantains a perfect complement. Stopped in to check them out when looking for somewhere to eat in Larkinville. Sat at bar for a drink and appetizer but ended up having dinner. Servers and bartenders are very friendly. Plating of the food is very appealing and you get huge portion sizes. I feel many people will enjoy this place. As for me, the authentic Jamaican flavor was lacking. I feel this Jamaican food is more Americanized. All meals come with plantains, rice and cabbage Curry chicken- Was good, full of chicken Jerk chicken- A little disappointed with this choice. Seriously one of the best meals I've eaten in Buffalo. Everything was so good. The jerk chicken Caesar salad was such a hit of amazing flavors, the chicken was warm and each component so good- something I will order again and again and think about forever. The coconut curry salmon had some kick to it and the sauce was poured table side. The Burrata salad was unexpected in the sense it was more deconstructed than constructed but each bite was good together. The carrot cake was a perfect blend of sweet, tart, and cakey. I loved the interior. Parking wasn't hard, we found something on the street but it looks like there was actually a free dedicated lot we could have used. We came during Black Restaurant Week Buffalo and there was a limited special but I think everything we had was pretty much on the menu, highly recommend going during this event to get a great deal. I have to say, the experience that was expected compared to what we experienced was a huge let down. When the couple that you are dining with receives their food 15 minutes before we did and then my dinner comes out after uncomfortably watching our friends eat and then my wife's dinner comes out 10 minutes after my dinner because "someone else took her meal", there is a real problem. No explanation, no apology? This should have been comped! Humongous let down. The seafood risotto was the most bland tasting dish I have ever had and the salmon was just plain bad. I'm not from Buffalo but every time I visit I try the new restaurants and bars. My bff took me to Bratts Hill. I was skeptical at first like isn't this the old industrial area downtown but the area is completely revamped. I would love to see it in the summer when they have events and concerts. The restaurant is beautiful with windows all around no bad seat in the house. Warm and welcoming on a cold night. We ordered a bottle of wonderful Portuguese rosé wine. I got the Caesar salad that was an appetizer but big enough to split between us, she got the soup both were delicious. Next came the entrees we decided to order Family style so we could try everything. We got the steak, sea bass, and ox tail ragu pasta entrees. We were so full of amazing food. I loved the ox tail ragu it was probably the most simple dish but the seasoning was fragrant and layered. I'm a big umami eater so the complex palate dishes appeal to me. The oxtail was tender and the pasta al dente. My friend loved the steak but she prefers her steak more well done than I do. We ordered the steak medium but it was more like medium well so keep that in mind when ordering if your prefer your steak more pink. The flavor though was amazing, the buttery potatoes, and vegetables all complemented each other perfectly. I wasn't a big fan of the sea bass but sea bass is tricky as it's a dense fish. I would recommend more sauce and maybe the potatoes and vegetables from the steak would be a better balance than the pickled cabbage. Overall still an amazing experience with great staff, clean bathrooms, and a chef who comes out to check on your meal. I will return the next time I'm in Buffalo! read more

Went to dinner Friday night. There is a great cocktail selection, and appetizers. We settled on the ceviche which wasn't traditionally smaller cuts of shrimp or scallop - rather, it was full size. The flavors were great and the plantain chips were salted perfectly. I did split the Jerk tableside dinner. I kind of wish they gave more chicken as that was the best item on the board. It was a very thoughtful presentation and the Chef was kind and it was unique. I felt the pork fell a little flat and was dry. Great heat and spices to the dipping sauces. If I could give this restaurant ten stars, I would. This is definitely a contender for best restaurant in Buffalo. To start, let me just say I don't think I have ever been to a dining establishment with such nice staff. Every single person we encountered from the host team to the bartenders to the servers were incredibly kind and genuinely concerned that we were having a great experience. Turning to the drinks and the food, all I can say is wow. I wanted everything on the menu. The Salt River cocktail, which is becoming their signature drink, is so delicious, in addition to being beautiful. The tableside jerk experience and Rasta Pasta were some of the most flavorful dishes I have ever had. To top it off, Chef Darian Bryan personally checked on us multiple times. He's a true class act. March's dinner club was Bratts Hill, with drinks at Hydraulic Hearth first. Spoiler alert .. I've done 30 something dinner clubs now and Bratts was by far, with our question, 100% the best one to date! Drinks at HH were absolutely delicious, unique and super fancy! I can't wait to go there in the summer because the courtyard outside was huge and beautiful! I loved the inside of HH, with all the brick and lights and they were cranking out some beautiful looking pizzas! Then we walked over to Bratts for our dinner reservation at 6:45. From the moment we walked in everything was wonderful. Every employee we encountered was so nice and sweet and happy! From the host (who did many other things), our server Sherece, and the tableside chef, everyone genuinely seems to love being there and made our experience great! We even gave a wave and thumbs up to the kitchen staff as we left because we could see them through the big beautiful window in front that was open to the kitchen. Between the 6 of us we all got drinks, 3 appetizers, 5 different dinners, and 2 desserts. Everything was incredible, full of flavor, great portion sizes, and beautifully presented. We got the tableside ramen and the tableside jerk for 2, so it was more than just dinner, it was an experience! There was fire, and beakers, and chefs at our table. We loved it! If I had to make any criticism, my only two things were I wish the dip was a little bit bigger and the guava pork ramen was incredibly sweet, almost like syrup sweet. In the end those really aren't even complaints. I can't wait to go back, there's still three or four more things on the menu that we didn't even get to try between the six of us! 10/10 recommend! read more

FINALLY! All the Rasta Pasta your heart desires. Chef Darian Bryan finally got his spot at the old Filling Station, and the Larkin community couldn't be happier. They are open Mon - Fri from 11-3 for now. Soon, they are looking to open for dinner. Their unique menu includes items such as Rasta Pasta, Ox Tails, Jerk Chicken, Mango Salad, Vegan Curry Lentils, along with beef/chicken/veggie patties. On occasions, you can catch some great specials suck as the Bar-B-Fried Chicken, Ellicottville Snapper, and Curry Goat. I have had everything on the menu, and it is always great! Sitting here now. Walked in to eat. A couple of seats at the bar are available. Walk over to learn the sets are reserved. So I walk back planning in either waiting for a seat or to order to go. No one informs me that he kitchen is closing at 7:15pm or somewhere around that time. The just actually finds me a seat at the bar. Much appreciated! I'm sitting for 15mins until the bartender pours me a glass a water and then takes the menus stating that you won't be needing these bc the kitchen is closed. Of course we had a little discussion about communication and the idea of a restaurant being open but the kitchen closing at 7:10-7:15. And why this wasn't communicated at the door. Thumbs down customer service. Entirely too cold to attempt to patronize a business and this is the experience. The menu has changed if you have been here before, it's my first time, the have added more dishes , today I had the Rasta pasta ( very delicious) spicy the way I like it, and a beef patty, my friend had the curry chicken, came with rice, cabbage, and plantains, she said it was delicious, almost bought another to go, I said let's come back for dinner next week. You come in grab a soda or water from the fridge, unless ordering from the bar, order your food grab a table if staying, and they will bring your order to the table, wit silverware and napkins.
