This is a little late, but Betty's was absolutely outstanding! I have severe food allergies, including dairy, eggs, and gluten, and the only breakfast I ever get to eat is the one I make for myself at home. I honestly can't remember the last time I was able to order breakfast at a restaurant. While visiting Buffalo with my boyfriend in November 2025, his college friend spent the morning taking us to several restaurants trying to find a place where I could safely eat. After striking out everywhere else, Betty's was our last stop--and what a blessing it was! Alice, our host, was warm, friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure my food allergies were handled safely. I was able to order a bacon, "egg" and avocado sandwich made to accommodate my allergies, and it was incredible. I hadn't enjoyed a breakfast sandwich from a restaurant in over a decade! It was so delicious that I went back again before leaving Buffalo and even ordered another sandwich to take home. For anyone living with food allergies, you know how rare it is to find a restaurant that truly understands safe food preparation while still serving amazing food. Oh my goodness... if you want to truly experience the personality of Buffalo you have to come to Betty's!! The vibe is so right, in fact this restaurant has a personality of its own, which matches its amazing eclectic selection of delicious foods. On beautiful sunny Spring, Summer or Autumn days you can enjoy the neighborhood on the patio or you can always choose to dine in one of their several comfortable dining rooms all of which feature art (Some of which you can purchase ) that will get you leaving your seat for a closer look. We were rewarded with two truly special brunch items ... a layered "French toast" that I stared at as a diner near me ate hers and an orange infused pair of delicious waffles. They were perfect and filling (This ended up as our only meal on this beautiful Sunday.). I've visited Betty's numerous times, but I'm writing this review specifically about my recent experience. I'll also include some general thoughts and photos of my time there. I called just before closing time to place a pickup order. I spoke to a man who asked me to hold. Then, another person answered the phone. She asked me how many orders I wanted and how soon I could get there. I answered her questions, and she asked if I could pay over the phone. She wouldn't authorize the payment until I arrived. She also asked me again how soon I could get there and said they could have the food ready in a "couple of minutes." At this point, I was frustrated. I had already answered her questions, and I wanted to focus on the actual items I wanted. I said, "I've answered the question already. Perhaps we can focus on a real customer service experience and talk about the actual items I would like." This was very off-putting. The woman seriously needs to practice customer service. The dynamic of the conversation changed. She was slightly more pleasant, but I shouldn't have to go through that to be treated with basic decency. I arrived at the establishment at this point, and the doors were locked. It was 2:00 p.m., and I waited for at least 5-6 minutes before someone came up and asked if I had the takeout order. I understand that Betty's is a small, locally owned, and incredibly fast-paced restaurant. However, to consistently feel mistreated each time I go is frustrating. I know this might sound like I'm making assumptions, but I can't help but feel like there might be a racial dynamic at play. I've witnessed many interactions at Betty's, and mine have been consistently unpleasant whereas I have not observed the same. Because of this, I won't be returning to Betty's. I encourage others who may have had similar experiences to consider avoiding it as well. read more

We were excited to try this place after reading the reviews; however, a bit of disappointment hit right away due to how unfriendly the hostess was when we arrived. We decided to stick it out, and I'm really glad we did. Once our waiter came, things turned around quickly. The drinks were amazing, creative, balanced, and the pours were definitely generous. It was a Saturday, so the brunch menu was in full swing. The atmosphere is really unique it's set in what feels like an old home, filled with bold artwork that gives off a cool West Coast art gallery vibe. It's one of those spots where you can just sit back and enjoy the energy. When the food came, it was beyond incredible. Every dish hit the mark, and our server was attentive, kind, and clearly cared about the experience. Wow. And I mean that wow. We were blown away. Betty's lived up to the hype! We came here for brunch on a Saturday morning and got seated pretty quickly for 2 without a reservation. We got 2 blood Mary's which were top notch. Better than most brunch spots, you can tell they have perfected their bloody recipe! John K who I believe is also the bartender was our waiter and let me tell you, he is GOOD. We were very impressed with him. Since it was crowded, we took two empty seats at the bar. I was going to order breakfast food, but when I saw a meatloaf sandwich on the menu I couldn't resist ordering it. The meatloaf had BBQ sauce on it and the bread was a toasted rye. It was by far the best meatloaf sandwich I've ever tasted! The meatloaf was cooked perfectly. My girlfriend ordered the Cuban sandwich. It wasn't a pressed sandwich, so my first thought was that I made the better choice. But then I had a couple bites of her sandwich and was blown away yet again. It had the perfect ratios of all the meats and the toasted bread was better than the usual cuban sandwich bread. What a find! Betty's is such a great breakfast spot -- total diamond in the rough. The location is tucked away enough that you kinda have to mean it when you go... but wow, it's so worth it. Everything we had was delicious -- and the staff couldn't have been nicer. They recommended a few dishes and, honestly, everything they suggested was spot-on (basically, there's no wrong order here). This is a busy little restaurant but we only waited about 10 minutes for a table. The food was all very good and the Souvlaki was delicious. The salad was made with a spring mix and even though I would have preferred romaine, it was fresh. The pickled onions, tomatoes and feta topped it off nicely. The service and staff were the very best part. Coffee was topped off regularly and multiple staff checked in on us the perfect amount of times so as to be attentive but not so much to be a bother. Service is very important to my dining experience. John, our bartender/server was GREAT. He was personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. It was mid sunday morning so Betty's was jumping. Thats why we sat at the bar. My wife ordered a signature Grasshopper coffee topped with whipped cream. She thoroughly enjoyed it. For meals I had Mickey's Casserole and my wife had Eggs Benedict. My egg, bread, sausage, peppers and, cheese casserole portion was huge! It was a corner piece but even the edges weren't over cooked. I was very pleased. It came with seasoned home fries that were also tasty. My wife enjoyed her eggs Benedict as well. Eggs were poached just right allowing for the runny yolk she enjoys. Also served with home fries. Her portion was also generous. Even at the bar the seating was comfortable and I didn't feel squeezed in even with every seat around me occupied. All in all we had a very nice brunch experience. The only thing I noticed as a slight negative was the somewhat tattered condition of the main menu. It was still readable but definitely showing its age. We were lucky to beat the Saturday morning rush, but the old house converted to a restaurant looked like it would accommodate a pretty good amount of visitors. Yep. It's delicious. I'm from out of town and looked online for a local spot. This seemed to have solid ratings so I made the walk. When I got there it was clear it was a popular spot. I asked for a seat at the bar and waited maybe 10 minutes. In that time I asked the host (who may have secretly been a higher up at the restaurant) what to order. Without hesitation, she said the biscuits and gravy. I then got seated and asked the bartender (John) the same question. He said biscuits and gravy no doubt. Yes. Yes. Yes. They were right. I don't traditionally like that biscuits and white gravy. It feels too congealed and blah for me normally. That was not this. At all. This was a perfectly spiced sausage gravy with delicious biscuits and sunny side up eggs with potatoes on the side that were super crispy. This place always has a line out the door and is incredibly packed with people. It is difficult to get your waitress's attention and they are clearly busy. Their food is pretty standard ( I have gotten a variety of things but my go-to is your normal eggs breakfast). Disappointing Experience on My Birthday My boyfriend and I came to Buffalo to celebrate my 21st birthday, which unfortunately started off rough when our car broke down nearby. While waiting for a tow, we decided to stop by this place for a mimosa to lift our spirits. When I arrived, I politely asked if I could set my things down at the bar, and the woman I believe to be the owner told me no -- which is fine -- but her tone felt unnecessarily short and dismissive. I asked if there was a wait for drinks, and she replied, "If you can get my bartender's attention, sure, but we're really busy." I told her that was fine and that I was happy to wait. A few minutes later, she returned to tell me she couldn't seat us "for just two drinks." I explained again that I completely understood and was content waiting at the bar. She then came back once more and said, "You know what, never mind -- we're not going to accommodate you for drinks." I've worked in restaurants and even managed one, so I completely understand how stressful a busy service can be -- but that doesn't excuse being dismissive or rude to guests who are polite and patient. Another person waiting nearby shared she had been treated the same way, which made me realize this wasn't just me. I can't speak for the bartenders or servers, who seemed fine, but the interaction with the host/owner left a really sour impression.
