Lucia's is hands down one of our favorite places to eat in all of Buffalo. The staff is always incredibly friendly (though the older dude we had last time was a little too customer service-y no matter how much we tried to just talk real) and the place has a close quarters but still calm and collected vibe. The food and drink are always exceptional. Whether you order off the regular menu or grab one of the specials, it's always exceptional. We've been several times now and gotten the cajun pasta, meatballs, fish of various sorts, crab rangoon appetizer, etc. Everything always comes out in a reasonable amount of time - never too fast or too slow - and is always solid. The cocktails are also on point with both the classics and a couple modern takes here and there. If I had to pick on anything (aside from trying to sell A5 Wagyu for $160 and claim it's breaking even), is the menu they put on their own website. Someone took a grainy cell photo and put it up there. Come on guys, some has the digital original. Just copy/paste. All in all, fabulous place that I can't say enough good things about. I made my reservation months in advance for a birthday dinner with my mom and sister after hearing so many great things about Lucia's on the Lake. I was really excited to finally try it. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a great atmosphere. We did get quite a few stares from other patrons throughout the night, which made us feel a little out of place, but the owner was incredibly kind and welcoming and that didn't go unnoticed. My sister and I both ordered the steak, while my mom got the braised short ribs. I added lump crab to my steak, which I honestly could've done without. It came with a butter sauce, but the crab itself was dry and pretty lackluster. The steak was good, though my green beans were a bit too undercooked for my liking. The real star of the table was my mom's braised short ribs. They tasted like pure comfort food, almost like a really good pot roast. The gravy and mashed potatoes together were perfect. Overall, it was a good meal, but I think my expectations were just a little too high going in. I'd come back, but next time I'd be ordering the short ribs. 7.7/10 read more

The service made the experience of Lucia's all worth the while. It can be a bit overwhelming as soon as you walk in. Crowded and lots of people surrounded at the bar and tables but once you get seated is a lot more relaxing. We got drinks at the bar while we waited for our table to be ready and they were extremely strong, When we sat the table our server saw I wasn't drinking it and asked why, I explained I just didn't care for it and he took it off my check which was kind given I already paid for it. The food was excellent, the French onion soup is a MUST. everything was flavorful. It's quite pricey, it'd be nice to attend as a special occasion but not a place I'd frequent. read more

First time here, not that impressed actually. Very loud first of all. I made a reservation for our anniversary- we could see the water from our table so that was nice. I ordered the chicken Milanese and hubby got the braised short ribs - it came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. He enjoyed his meal but mine was just ok. Both were presented very beautifully with a pretty flower. It seemed like the staff just wanted to keep you moving to go to the next person. Knowing that it was our anniversary, they don't do anything special no little tiny dessert or anything. Lucia's has been my favorite restaurant for many years and overall continues to be one of the best dining experiences in Western New York. The atmosphere is beautiful, the staff is professional, and the bartenders and servers are always excellent. I have so much respect for the owner because he takes pride in the restaurant and treats his employees well, and that is one of the reasons I have remained such a loyal customer. This visit was especially important to me because it was my date's first time there, and I was excited to show him what I have always considered to be the best restaurant in Western New York for many years. We started with the calamari, which was excellent. I ordered the Sea Bass special for $55, which I almost always get, and it was absolutely amazing as usual. It was perfectly prepared and continues to be one of the best dishes they offer. My date ordered the lobster linguine, which I have had many times in the past and always loved. I wanted him to try both dishes, so he ordered it instead of getting steak because of how much I raved about it. While there was a generous amount of lobster, the lobster itself was slightly chewy and the overall dish had a somewhat unusual flavor compared to how exceptional it has been before, I noticed the chewy lobster the last time I ordered this dish a couple months ago, but thought maybe it was just an off night. Dessert was unfortunately the biggest disappointment of the evening. I really wanted a scoop of ice cream, something that is included with most of the desserts, and when I asked, I was told the ice cream was not homemade, which was surprising at this level, so I ordered my favorite go-to dessert, the crème brûlée. Sadly, it was completely undercooked and liquid inside. It was more like soup than custard. I rarely order dessert and was really looking forward to it, so this was extremely disappointing. I then ordered the flourless chocolate cake after being told that while the cake isn't made in hothe whipped cream was homemade. While the cake itself was fine, it did not stand out, and the very small amount of whipped cream did not taste homemade, which added to the overall disappointment. At one point while clearing the table, a busboy dropped a dirty spoon that nearly landed on my date's lap. He caught it just in time. I understand accidents happen, but it was still concerning. I was honestly disappointed because I had built Lucia's up so much to him over the years. I wanted him to experience what I have always believed to be the best restaurant in Western New York, and unfortunately, he left feeling disappointed. I want to emphasize that Lucia's has earned my loyalty over the years because the food and service are usually impeccable. The Sea Bass continues to be outstanding and the staff remains top notch. However, this experience and my last visit have unfortunately taken Lucia's from my number one spot. I have the utmost respect for the owner and everything he has built. We dined in for my birthday. It was a beautiful time of day to go, we had a view of the lake out the window and a beautiful sunset. Our server was John A. He was absolutely fantastic. An above and beyond server. He gave us a little scoop of ice cream with a candle while waiting for our to-go dessert; and also his business card for the next time we want to come back! Cider spritzer 8/10 It was a good drink, just wasn't very apple cider flavored to me and definitely did not have a cinnamon sugar rim. Complementary bread 10/10 The bread is fantastic. This restaurant has always been #1 in my book, I've raved about it for years, however my wife and I recently had a bad experience which has yet to be fully resolved. Our waiter failed to fire our entrees and Following a 40 minute wait, once discovered, we left the restaurant very disappointed and hungry. I love French onion soup and make it a point to try it everywhere I go if it's in the menu and this one ranks at the top of the list. When talking the best Buffalo has to offer, Lucia's has to be at the top of the list. Both their food and service are top notch, and it's evident they don't cut corners in their preparation. Jared, our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful and deserves a spot on this review. He somehow managed to convince the chef to give my wife a cream sauce from a pasta dish, as a sauce for her steak. Wonderful service! The cocktail list is decent sized, and all sound very tasty. Our Bourbon smash and espresso martinis were very good. The menu is, perhaps, the greatest menu I think I've ever seen. Every dish sounds delicious and it's truly the only negative I have to say, deciding what to order. Amazing seafood, comfort food, and steak options. Our stuffed peppers (with crab meat) were fantastic, and a different take on them unlike the traditional sausage and cheese filled peppers. The Apple cider glazed brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly, and my wife loved their French onion soup (which could have been a meal on its own for the portion) Our steaks were cooked perfectly, and the add-on steak sauces and butters are an excellent touch, like you're eating at a steakhouse. We had such a lovely dinner at Lucia's tonight! We started with cocktails before the meal, and each one was perfectly made--balanced, flavorful, and just right. The cocktail menu isn't huge, but every option sounded tempting. After dinner, the drink list opened up nicely with choices ranging from espresso martinis to classic digestifs, which was a nice surprise. Appetizers were tasty and well done, and the fresh bread service was a great touch that made everything feel welcoming. For our entrées, we tried the halibut with risotto and the short ribs with pappardelle, and both were excellent--seasoned beautifully, generous portions, and full of flavor. In fact, we had enough to bring some home! What really made the night special was our server, Elliott. His service was absolutely outstanding--attentive, friendly, and genuinely professional. I was in town this past weekend and joined a couple who are regulars at Lucia's on the Lake. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of dining room, the sophisticated décor and the incredible Italian-infused menu. I enjoyed meeting co-owner Jay Pasquarella during my visit. He and his partner have managed the restaurant for 10 years. What really impressed me is most of the staff has worked continuously since the restaurant opened. We arrived about 45 minutes early and found a seat at the bar for a large Martini with blue cheese olives. Looking at some of the reviews on Yelp, Lucia's is a favorite of many locals. It's a perfect setting for a special occasion meal, a birthday, an anniversary. When we were first seated, you're served a loaf of complimentary Italian bread, which was warm, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It's served with butter and olive oil with seasonings as a dip. We started our meal with Bang Bang Shrimp and Stuffed Banana Peppers. Two of the favorites I read on Yelp. It was my first-time trying Banana Peppers and I loved them. The peppers are lightly grilled and were mildly spicy. They were stuffed with a three-cheese blend, with Ricotta dominating. Next up one of our guests shared a Chopped Salad with me. Fresh romaine, tomatoes and cucumbers star in this salad. Loved the sweet & sour dressing. For my entrée, I ordered the 12-ounce A5 Certified Japanese Wagyu Ribeye for $139, based on a recommendation from Jay. It should be priced much higher, much like the 32-ounce Prime Tomahawk at $95. It was perfectly seared to a medium doneness. The first few bites were incredibly tender due to the Wagyu's marbling. What surprised me was the amount of fat on my cut of meat. Jay suggested we also order the Gnocchi. It's stuffed with asiago cheese and served with Italian sausage, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes. Another guest ordered the classic Alaskan Halibut, her favorite entrée on the menu. For dessert, the Salted Chocolate Caramel Pie was the perfect way to close our meal. As much as I enjoyed our meal and the conversation, the pacing of the meal was seriously off. I will say the restaurant was fully booked and had several large tables. Here is the timeline for our meal: * Sat at table at 7:48pm * Starters served at 8:47pm * Salad served at 8:55pm * Entrées served at 9:46pm * Dessert served at 10:16pm Other than our server telling us that the kitchen was really busy, we had no idea the service was going to take so long. Despite being 3 minutes from home, we haven't been here since the first year they opened, probably because people are always saying it's impossible to get a reservation; Tuesday at 5pm, however, no problem at all. We have driven many times past Lucia's on our way to and from Jamestown NY to Buffalo. Until we watched Speil the Wine with Kevin LoVullo we really didn't know much about it. Once we watched his segments we became curious. It does take a while to get a reservation and after going there last evening for an early dinner, I can see why. The moment we walked in the place is aesthetically inviting as are the greeters, wait staff, bartenders, servers, etc. Our server Jared Gugino was one of the nicest informative servers I think we've ever had. Upon Kevin's recommendation, he mentioned that we should ask for the the owner on which we did. Jay Pasquarella the owner was so friendly and gracious. He stopped by to check in out us a few times even though the place was packed. Lastly, may I mention the food? I had the blackened chicken with asparagus risotto, amazing! My husband had jambalaya. As large as his portion was, he almost licked the plate except he knew he had carrot cake on its way to celebrate his birthday. I had to take half of mine home. I'm looking forward to finishing the leftover. One thing we both noticed is that our food came out hot which is not always the case at many restaurants so there was no need to hurry to try and finish. We will definitely be back again! 6 years and probably hundreds of visits later, my initial 5 star rating still stands. Food, service, and atmosphere - always top notch, and the view is just absolutely incredible. Can't get a reservation? Show up before 5pm and grab some bar seats and you're bound to meet some friendly regulars who are always striking up interesting conversations. Our forever favorites include the bang bang calamari and pork belly, though the meatballs, truffle fries, and stuffed peppers (get it with the fried egg!) are always great too. If you like shrimp cocktail, you'll be in for a real treat with their enormous colossal shrimp. All the soups and salads are always fresh and delicious, especially the French onion soup and the goat cheese salad or the burrata salad, depending on season. And if you just want a snack to nibble on - the cheese/charcuterie/bread boards are great options too. Our go-to steak entrees are filet mignon and N.Y. strip and if you enjoy truffle, make sure you get the truffle butter! I also love the short ribs and the halibut, and occasionally when I feel like a carb-filled meal - the lobster linguine is my go-to (with a side of lump crab meat). We normally don't have any room for dessert but the Brimley will forever be my favorite... only if they would serve it in 1/4 of the size, I'd probably order it all the time! My current favorite is the lemon ricotta cake, as we're obsessed with everything lemon. It's light and not overly sweet, which is a perfect way to end the meal! There's a recent addition on the side of the building with a second bar and huge windows. Seating is first come first serve and offers a limited menu (apps and salads etc.). The view is even more breathtaking and there's live music on weekends. There's a reason why this place is always packed and seemingly impossible to get a reservation. It's fantabulous!!! read more

Really good food and our fourth/fifth time here. But...the reason we probably won't go back. It's usually pretty loud, but doable. This time it was just too much. We were seated in the back room, which we initially thought was great. There was a table for eight right next to us. A table of four in front and behind us. The noise level in the room was so much, that it ruined our birthday dinner celebration. We kept trying to ignore it, but the table for eight was yelling across to be heard. We couldn't hear ourselves talking to each other. The waitress even had to get down between us to explain the specials. She apologized at the end for how loud it was. The food was very good, but I've had excellent filet at a few other establishments in town. If I'm going out for an upscale meal, I really want a relatively quiet place. We enjoyed everything about our experience at Lucia's. We were fortunate enough to book a last minute reservation on Valentine's Day weekend and stopped in for a visit while in the area. We were greeted so kindly by the hostess who instantly made me feel incredibly welcome. We had no wait and were given an amazing seat with the best view of the lake. Our waiter, Thomas, was also very kind and attentive. He offered us suggestions and outline the specials of the evening. We started with the bang bang shrimp. These are amazing. We also ordered crab cakes, and the pork belly. My husband enjoyed the pork belly, but I would probably skip the crab cakes next time and stick with the bang bang shrimp. The drinks were good and strong as well. For our entrees, we had the lobster ravioli and the filet mignon. I really enjoyed the lobster ravioli, and found the serving of lobster was plentiful. Our server suggested adding extra on the side, but it was not needed. I did add on brussel sprouts, but they weren't seasoned well and tasted lackluster. My husband enjoyed his filet immensely. When you secure reservations over 2 months prior to an event you would think you would get the main dining room with the linen table cloths and padded chairs. I am not sure what my early reservation got me when again I got rattan chairs at a high top marble table. The manager advised next time I should specify where I want to sit, but I can safely say there will be no next time. I came here for the first time on December 4th to enjoy a Christmas dinner in celebration of the women in our office. The inside was bustling with energy from guests and servers alike. The overall decor is elegant and tasteful just as I expected. We started off with a few appetizers: The Bang Bang Shrimp, Spinach Artichoke Dip and a charcuterie plate that was a special. The shrimp was huge! The spinach dip was delicious (nothing that stood out from other spinach artichoke dips I've had at other restaurants) and the charcuterie board was massive with a little bit of something for everyone. My only complaint about the charcuterie board was that the cheeses and meats weren't labeled. For dinner I ordered the Lobster Linguini and added four scallops onto it (go big or go home, right?). This dish was phenomenal to say the least! The amount of lobster is insane, and the scallops were seared to perfection! As always, Lucia's does not disappoint. We came in with a $200 gift card and left stuffed and very happy. We were able to get five different appetizers as well as two scallop entrees for $200 which I thought was very impressive. Everything was delicious except for the crab bread which was a little bit fishy and we probably wouldn't order that again but otherwise would order everything else! The scallop dish was our favorite part but everything was amazing. Our server was particularly fantastic and really could read the vibe of each table he was serving. This has become my favorite restaurant locally and I'll continue to come back here. read more

Lucia's on the Lake offers scenic views of Lake Erie and offers upscale dining perfect to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or for a date night. While most diners were dressed up, not everyone was. We came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary after hearing such great things about their food from friends, and seeing them on Spiel the Wine. We enjoyed a fantastic dinner and had a great experience overall. Everyone we interacted with was professional. For an appetizer, we shared the stuffed hot banana peppers which were served over garlic bread. That was delicious but almost filling by itself. For my entree I had the halibut special which was served over crab risotto. It was incredibly flavorful and I took half of it home since I was full from the peppers. We ordered 2 slices of key lime pie to go, and our waiter gave us a little candle since we were celebrating our anniversary. We also ordered a bottle of Dr. Frank's Riesling, a favorite of ours. Really appreciative to see a Finger Lakes wine on their wine menu. Highly recommend! read more

My meal was just OK. It was very bland and it had lump crab and shrimp and pasta, but they had very cooked strawberries mandarin oranges in it which I did not expect I took them out. I needed to put Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper to make it better I just think when you spend that much money, you would expect great food and a quieter experience not so crowded so many tables in the room it was loud ! the high light of the evening they had a new room at the end all windows that you could actually enjoy a drink. Overall you were a good experience. Our server who was a manager was very good. My shrimp and crab bucatini only contained 2 shrimp and some what appeared to be imitation crabmeat in a very nice cream sauce. $49.75 very pricey. Dates steak was great but the smashed Red potatoes did not go with steak. Sweet sauce is a mistake. $69 again pricey. No wine list was provided but I went with the servers suggestion for 2 glasses of average white wine at $20. each ,again pricey. Sorry to say but we will not return. read more

Came for our anniversary and had a great dinner. We've seen the restaurant on Spiel the Wine many times and had been wanting to go here for a while. Figured our anniversary would be the time. Service was great and the menu had a nice variety of options. I splurged and got a wagyu ribeye which was delicious. If you get the opportunity to eat here do it!! The food was absolutely delicious. Yes it is a bite pricey but honestly worth every penny. They do not skimp on the seafood at all in these dishes ! To start we got the charcuterie board which was beautiful. It has a variety of cheeses (blueberry goat cheese was outstanding), meats, fruits, honey etc. It was great for a table of four. We also shared the lobster poutine which was a special but should become a permanent item on the menu. And I got the clam chowder which was good but standard in comparison. For entrees I got the filet au poivre which was a special as well and the sauce and toppings were great. The flavor was perfect and cooked to temperature too. Others at the table got the lobster ravioli, crab bucitini and lobster linguine. All of their meals were huge. Everyone had a ton of leftovers! Not to mention the views were spectacular for sunset. Only thing to note is that it can be extremely difficult to get a reservation so book well in advance ! read more
