Finally had a chance to eat in. We sat at the bar, and the woman taking care of us was such a sweetheart. Such great service. The food was just as good, with great drinks. I started off with a herbal sunrise, highly recommend if you like vodka! My son had the pear necessities. We ordered an app to share, as we were short on time. We went with the zucchini pizza bites! They were absolutely amazing!! Then we ordered food to go for later. We went with the chicken in the grass, the bourbon steak sandwhich and the buttermilk fried chicken. Everything was good. I loved that they put my sweet and sour slaw on the side so my sandwhich didn't get soggy. Let me tell you that sweet and sour slaw is the best slaw I've had!! Went to Mike and Pops on 5/2 (4 adults and 2 small children). After waiting 40 minutes for food to arrive, 2 of the adults left with the children as they needed.to eat at a reasonable hour. At that time we asked that the food be packaged to go. it took another 20 minutes for the food to be packaged to go. One would expect that after a 40 minute wait the food would have been ready to be packaged to go. A waiter came over and seeing the frustration inquired. Foolishly he attempted to excuse the delay that it was a busy restaurant. He continued to express this lame excuse several times. He never heard or understood what I was saying and never accepted responsibility for this failure or apologized. He just seemed to be saying I should expect this type of service at mike and pos We have been to this restaurant several times but will not be returning as the service is horrible and the staff does not know how to deal with customer issues and complaints. Ok - I can tell that the food is very good when they aren't under staffed, although the meal took a long time to come out the wait staff was friendly. The steak sandwich ordered med rare - came out med rare and had a stuffed banana pepper on it! The chicken sandwich was delicious as was the vinegar coleslaw. Of the 2 burgers ordered one was over cooked for the diner, but the other was perfect. Overall the food is good we will go back for another try! This was a part of our 2025 Wing Crawl. But, we came here for the French Onion Soup. We arrived toward then end of the night so the place was mostly empty and this quiet. The staff could not have been more friendly. We told our server about our Wing Crawl and she really loved hearing it. She called over another server and she gave us some suggestions. The vibe in this place is just awesome. The French Onion Soup was very good. It was a little sweet and we liked that. When in Rome... we ordered the hot wings. So disappointed, after reading so many positive reviews. my chicken in the grass sandwich was flavorless. Instead of chips, i was able to get carrot sticks at no additional cost, which i appreciated. Wednesday afternoon lunch with friends. The place offers no parking so we lucked out and got on street parking right in front of the restaurant. It was a damp rainy day so we opted for coffee instead of cocktails. Good strong cup of coffee. Just the way I like it. I had the chicken in the grass, served on a toasted roll it was filled with chicken , mushrooms, spinach and feta cheese and yes it tasted as yummy as it sounds. Sandwiches are served with chips & dill pickle chips, for a up charge you can get fries etc. One of my friends got the club sandwich, it was really large and they were happy with the taste. My other friend ordered chicken wings, the waiter said it would be a 20 minute wait because they are made fresh. Our food all came out at once and the wings were crispy and tasty. The place is cute inside, all the tables and booths in the dining room were taken so we ended up at the picnic style bench table. Stopped here on a Friday for a late dinner with a group of friends. Service was good. Got a few apps. Pretzel Fries (basically pretzel sticks) and mozzarella sticks were good. French Onion soup was very good, a very sweet broth. I ordered the bbq honey mustard chicken fingers which were delicious. Overall a good experience. This spot has been on my list for a long time. I finally got over here for a lunch and it was definitely worth the wait. I am kicking myself for not getting here sooner though! We figured they were on the Top Places in Buffalo list for a good reason. I have heard so many great things about this place and they are all confirmed to be true now. The interior is cozy and has that classic neighborhood bar vibe. Almost like a Cheers kind of feel to it. Our server was great and made sure drinks stayed full and things were cleaned up quick. We went on a cold winter day so it was nice to walk inside and not have a cold draft come in everytime someone entered. I ended up getting the Beef on Weck with fries. I heard so many great things about the French Onion soup but I will go back for that. The Beef on Weck was delicious with the kimmelweck bun. I always appreciate when the bun doesn't get soggy from the au jus and you can enjoy the sandwich without it falling apart. The fries were really good and the chips were also good so either side is a brilliant addition. Overall, this might be becoming one of my favorite spots in Buffalo. I love when bars/restaurants have this on draught, I love it even more when you can tell that the lines are regularly cleaned and maintained. We ordered an appetizer, the stuffed mushrooms, and they were delicious! They came out piping hot with a lovely load of crispy cheese on top. Both of us also ordered the French onion soup. The soup was very good; however, it is much sweeter than I am personally used too. For our entrees we both decided to get the chicken pot pie. If you come here, you absolutely have to treat yourself to the chicken pot pie, even if you take it home for later.... this was the most delicious chicken pot pie I've had the pleasure of eating. The crust was flaky and buttery. The inside was thick, creamy and bursting with flavor. There is a reason it has so many great reviews! Before we left, we enjoyed an Espresso martini for dessert! Amazing stop for our family of 8 from Arizona!! We have family in Buffalo and came across this place and have zero complaints. Food was amazing. Fish fry was so yummy. My experience... Waited 45 minutes for 3 sandwiches. Waited patiently for half an hour and then waitress stopped by and said it would just be a minute more. Fifteen minutes later, the food arrived. Buttermilk chicken sandwich was very small. "Reuben" sandwich was lukewarm and had no Thousand Island dressing on it. I make a better Reuben at home. Roast beef was medium well and served on a roll that disintegrated in my wife's hands as she was eating it. The stuffed banana peppers were a cheesy, saucy mound. Three Hungarian peppers generously topped with more cheese and marinara sauce tasted like lasagna without the pasta. The buttery garlic bread was crispy and soft at the same time. It was great for scraping every bit of the yummy appetizer. The Fish Fry dinner is served all day every Friday. It includes a choice of soup or salad to start, which is a rare option. For an additional cost, we happily upgraded our soups to French Onion. I had to try to understand why it was so popular with customers. More cheese please :). The cheesy French Onion Soup was brought to our table steaming hot. It looked tasty and appetizing. After the first few sips, I knew that the broth was too beefy/heavy, with lots of herbs, but not enough caramelized onion. I wanted there to be more onion flavor for balance. I couldn't finish the soup, but I ate all the cheese. My broiled haddock was perfectly prepared. The fish was beautifully flaky and tasty. With a few splashes of lemon juice and a dollop of tartar sauce it was even better. What a meal! :) I'll definitely come back for more when the time is right. We came for dinner on a rainy Tuesday evening in August. We were greeted and seated right away, although the table we were taken to was very close to the swinging kitchen door. Our server arrived momentarily to take our drink order, and we were happy to see that they offered Ellicottville Blueberry beer and cider on tap. Once we had time to review the menu, our group decided on the salmon, wings, and pot roast. All were prepared to our liking and served soon after ordering. My choice was the pot roast and it was melt in your mouth tender. The mashed potatoes and gravy were hearty and tasty. The vegetable medley of spinach, carrot, mushroom, onion, and zucchini was amazing. A house salad accompanied the meal, and it was exceptional.
