Reuben with onion rings
Fred R.

Had a delivery from Mike and pops. We ordered Reuben sandwiches, wings, kids chicken fingers everything was good, the onion rings were mushy, because they were packed in a plastic container. Everything thing else was very good.

Ok - I can tell that the food is very good when they aren't under staffed, although the meal took a long time to come out the wait staff was friendly. The steak sandwich ordered med rare - came out med rare and had a stuffed banana pepper on it! The chicken sandwich was delicious as was the vinegar coleslaw. Of the 2 burgers ordered one was over cooked for the diner, but the other was perfect. Overall the food is good we will go back for another try! I have to mention that although decorated cute - the ladies room needs scrubbed.

Always a great meal here. Definitely the best tuna fish sandwich I've ever had! My partner enjoyed his steak in the grass. Service was great. Nice atmosphere to enjoy a night out.

This was a part of our 2025 Wing Crawl. But, we came here for the French Onion Soup. We arrived toward then end of the night so the place was mostly empty and this quiet. The staff could not have been more friendly. We told our server about our Wing Crawl and she really loved hearing it. She called over another server and she gave us some suggestions. The vibe in this place is just awesome. The French Onion Soup was very good. It was a little sweet and we liked that. When in Rome... we ordered the hot wings. We rated them 6.5 out of 10 so near the bottom of our overall rankings. But, they were still good. Definitely recommend this place for the service and soup!!

The meal was excellent; it was served hot and was rich in flavor. The interior of the establishment was aesthetically pleasing, and I appreciated the artwork displayed on the walls. The service was exemplary. The only concern pertained to the alcohol; although it was not overly problematic, the alcohol flavor was more prominent than the sweetness, indicating it may not have been thoroughly mixed.

Went for lunch and was not disappointed. I had the bourbon steak sandwich which came with a side of chips and it was a very delicious meal. The service was great there at the bar and though I didn't grab a drink, they had a really good prices and fun-sounding specialty cocktails. definitely will return to try other things on the menu

Club sandwich

Wednesday afternoon lunch with friends. The place offers no parking so we lucked out and got on street parking right in front of the restaurant. It was a damp rainy day so we opted for coffee instead of cocktails. Good strong cup of coffee. Just the way I like it. I had the chicken in the grass, served on a toasted roll it was filled with chicken , mushrooms, spinach and feta cheese and yes it tasted as yummy as it sounds. Sandwiches are served with chips & dill pickle chips, for a up charge you can get fries etc. One of my friends got the club sandwich, it was really large and they were happy with the taste. My other friend ordered chicken wings, the waiter said it would be a 20 minute wait because they are made fresh. Our food all came out at once and the wings were crispy and tasty. The place is cute inside, all the tables and booths in the dining room were taken so we ended up at the picnic style bench table. I later noticed there were more tables past the bar that I would opt to sit at next time.

BBQ Honey Mustard Chicken Fingers and Onion Rings

Stopped here on a Friday for a late dinner with a group of friends. Service was good. Got a few apps. Pretzel Fries (basically pretzel sticks) and mozzarella sticks were good. French Onion soup was very good, a very sweet broth. I ordered the bbq honey mustard chicken fingers which were delicious. Overall a good experience. I will say two friends had burgers and had some upset stomachs that night but it was nothing I had.

This spot has been on my list for a long time. I finally got over here for a lunch and it was definitely worth the wait. I am kicking myself for not getting here sooner though! We figured they were on the Top Places in Buffalo list for a good reason. I have heard so many great things about this place and they are all confirmed to be true now. The interior is cozy and has that classic neighborhood bar vibe. Almost like a Cheers kind of feel to it. Our server was great and made sure drinks stayed full and things were cleaned up quick. We went on a cold winter day so it was nice to walk inside and not have a cold draft come in everytime someone entered. I ended up getting the Beef on Weck with fries. I heard so many great things about the French Onion soup but I will go back for that. The Beef on Weck was delicious with the kimmelweck bun. I always appreciate when the bun doesn't get soggy from the au jus and you can enjoy the sandwich without it falling apart. The fries were really good and the chips were also good so either side is a brilliant addition. Overall, this might be becoming one of my favorite spots in Buffalo. Great food, good service, and a nice cozy vibe all go a long way here. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

It was nice and big in there. I like the way that there was room to move. It's not real small like most bars I end up going to. The bartender was OK, it was very, very crowded, so they were low on seats. Like I said, I wasn't there very long. I didn't spend a lot of time there so I don't really know much about the place. I didn't even so much just use the restroom there so I don't know about those. I don't know if they have food or not. I just like the fact that it's spacious.

We had been to their location in Sanborn years ago and loved it. Ordered a Gustavo ,Ybor,Mexican Street corn Mac & cheese and two Alfajores. Everything was great and of the two sandwiches. The Gustavo was too spicy that it overwhelmed the other flavors in the sandwich. The bread was a winner. The Ybor was very good. The MSCM&C was also to spicy and hid the flavors. You place your order at the counter and your order takes about 15 minutes. You can order ahead. The ambiance is plain Jane and very sterile but clean. . The music was way too loud.

The other reviews here pretty much say it all, so my main reason for adding anything is to comment on their use of metal trays instead of plates, a growing custom it seems, and fine by me. But.... We said, when asked, that we were dining in. The 420 Fries came boxed on the parchment lined tray. I'd suggest when the customer is eating in that they save the box and assemble meals that come in a box for take-out directly onto the tray. It would make for a much more attractive dining experience. The fries: small potato wedges. The 420: if poutine and nachos got married and had a baby, they'd name it 420. They were very good. A health-conscious note: menu suggestion for those watching carbs says anything that comes on bread can be served on saffron rice or on power grains, or on a large flour tortilla, or on salad greens. And for the vegetarian folks, garlic-roasted mushrooms can be substituted for meat on any sandwich. Check out their menu at tortugasandwich.com I'll be back. Next up for me-- the Vicuna on salad greens.

It's a decent sized market with all the usual staples. What really sets it apart for me is the upstairs space. I've hosted a couple of events here, and there's always been plenty of room and seating. When I go with friends, some order from the cafe, some grab baked goods, others just pick up a quick salad or something simple. It makes it easy for everyone to join in at whatever price point they can. Parking is usually good, though I've run into a couple times when the lot was full. Still, I'm glad they have a parking lot. The store is clean, the staff are friendly, and having that upstairs area takes it up a star for me.

Living in Buffalo several years now, I've never been out to Hertel Ave to grab food and drinks -…read moreSurprising, I know! Thanks to a Yelp Elite event on Hertel Ave., I FINALLY changed that with a fantastic late dinner at The Burning Buffalo Bar & Grill. One of the main reasons I don't like to go out in Buffalo is parking - I'm always anxious about finding a spot that's close to where I'm going, as well as not having to pay for it. It was 7:45pm on a Tuesday, so street parking was free so one obstacle down, and amazingly, I managed to park right in front of The Burning Buffalo Bar & Grill, but across the street - I'll take it! Upon walking inside, there were a few tables outside full of people having dinner and drinks with one waitress managing all of it. I walked in and was surprised how big, spacious it was. First order of business though was hitting the restroom, which was on the small side, but clean. After that, I grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender was a young, pretty woman who was very personable. Unsure of what to grab for a drink, she asked what beers I usually go for and with that, she was fired off a few beers on draught I might like. I settled on the Jack's Abby Post Shift Pilsner and enjoyed sipping on that the rest of the night. She handed me the food menu and took care of a few other customers while I figured out what I wanted. I got it down to two items and I asked her for her recommendation, which was excellent and how I'd order, if and when I make it back. But similar to what other reviews on Yelp say, the atmosphere was very much like a neighborhood bar and grill, where everyone knows each other and if they don't know you, they're still more than willing to let you hop in and out of the conversation. I felt very comfortable sitting and listening to the "regulars" chat, watching a baseball game on the TVs behind the bar. So for dinner, I decided on ordering their Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich which is topped with lettuce, tomato, sriracha mayo, and cheddar cheese, with pickles underneath between a soft, brioche bun with a side of hand cut fries and a pickle spear on the side. The bartender recommended swapping out the cheddar cheese with pepperjack cheese, an awesome swap! The size of the fried chicken breast was HUGE by itself! I was so impressed how the well the sandwich held together as I devoured it. The chicken was hot, not greasy at all. The lettuce and tomato tasted fresh and looked crisp, there was plenty of that pepperjack cheese on top the chicken and pickles underneath. The sriracha mayo was excellent, albeit I would've liked more of it, I think more would've made the sandwich messy and hard to handle, so it really was the right amount on there. The hand cut fries were great as well; Crispier on the ends and softer in the center but plenty hot and not over seasoned. If you've seen other reviews of mine, you'll get the sense I have a pretty big appetite so I was able to demolish the sandwich but I couldn't finish all my fries, so that should be enough to tell you the portions here are HUGE and AWESOME! At first glance, the prices look expensive but I think they're justified as the quality and portions are phenomenal, I certainly felt I got my money's worth. I'm so happy that after several years of living in Buffalo, I made it over to Hertel Ave. finally! I'm also glad I chose The Burning Buffalo Bar and Grill for dinner. The quality and quantity of food, the friendly neighborhood atmosphere, the personable staff, what more can you ask for? I can't wait to come back and grab another Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich or maybe give their North Buffalo Cheesesteak a try!
