I just ate here today. Probably the best Mexican restaurant in the area. The place is relaxed but slightly upscale. Its very clean inside and it has a attractive ambiance. The food is simply kick-ass. The chips are quality..... the sauces are freakin AMAZING! Everything was very fresh and the prices are very reasonable. Good portion sizes too. The bartender was very nice and the service was quick. The only thing I can complain about is the so-so parking. But that will not deter me from my next visit! So many Mexican places in Northlake and this structure and location is a higher end place that the small strip mall taquerias. There is ample seating yet this p,ace still seems small. A nice little bar with table seating with the traditional Mexican backgrounds. THe food was authentic enough although I am no expert on Mexican food. It's a bit of sleeper spot. The exterior gives off a regular old Taqueria vibe but inside is quite nice looking; a clean looking modern decor. The food isn't bad but Taqueria Mi Palenque, which is a few blocks down North ave, has better tasting food. Now "Bravo" is a sit down and dine restaurant and not fast food. Down the block in the other direction is "Alejandra's"....BRAVO RESTAURANT IS FAR BETTER THAN ALEJANDRA'S. 'Nuff said. So my mom and I have been eating here and the other location, but since the original owner passed away the atmosphere changed! Change is always good but this change has been so bad. My mom and I came tonight to order some food and have a beer before a long week ahead of us. The waitresses here have no customer service. The two little teenage girls that were here did not know anything and starred at us as if we were aliens. No one came to take our order.. the guy that cooks his name is Alex and honestly we love him! He came out and took our order personally. If it wasn't for him my mom and I would still be waiting to even be acknowledged!! The new owner of this place needs to do a better job at training her staff. We did not even get offer water or chips. The waitress didn't even bring us napkins. The worst service I've had in 10 years--and it happened both times I've been there. And both times the restaurant was not busy at all. Zero concept of customer service. If you don't mind a 20 plus minute wait to even get menus, wrong orders, things packed to go that you wanted served...well, if you won't get too annoyed by the complete lack of respect for customers...then the food is pretty good. On the other hand, it might be funny to bring someone there and take bets on how long the waitress will be on the phone or talking to her boyfriend at the bar before she comes to your table. I really enjoyed my experience at Bravo. I have always dined here and enjoy dining at several Mexican restaurants. Upon entering, I noticed how clean the restaurant was kept. We were then seated right away. Drinks arrived quickly and their food was delicious. It was cooked perfectly to my liking, just like the others at my table. The only downside was that once we had our meals, the waitress wouldn't come to attend us, so those that needed drinks or wanted to order anything else couldn't. The prices were affordable and we received a good amount of food for the price we paid. Overall, I really liked my time here and am eager to return. read more

This restaurant is a real neighborhood gem. Their Mole sauce is about the best I have ever had. The food is great and very authentic. You get good portions for a really reasonable price. This place is just bad!! Me and my wife went to eat here on a Wednesday night. We just thought that this was a great place to eat at because of all the ratings that this place has! Ok first of all the waitresses don't do their job like it has to be. It took them a long time to go to our table! When it wasn't even busy. All they do is stand by the kitchen on their phones and don't even pay attention to the customers. Then when we were waiting for our food. I went to the men's bathroom as soon as I step in their was a bad odor in their and it was so dirty! This place just needs to be better maintained and they need to train their waitresses better. I am so disappointed in one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Lately, the food has just been OK! It used to be outstanding. The flavors were so authentic. Yesterday, I got a burrito dinner and the rice was still a little hard (HOW GROSS)!!! The last time I ate the chicken enchiladas, my stomach was upset for the rest of the evening. Another time my husband wanted his steak to be al carbon and he was very disappointed. The meat tasted like if you were sucking on a lime; very strong lime flavor (TOO MUCH)! Also, a few weeks ago I ordered two orders of cebollitas and an order of guacamole. I asked for six hot avocado sauces. All three items totaled $14.95 (are you kidding me?) The order of cebollitas was four grilled Mexican green onions for $3.00 and the guacamole was $5.95. The guacamole that was given to me was in a very small container (FOR THAT PRICE ). We visited on Cinco de Mayo and it wasn't too busy, unlike Alejandra's down the street, where we SHOULD have gone and dealt with the wait. The restaurant looks nice. This should have been a warning that more time was put on the decor than the food. The service must think that ONLY Spanish speakers would come in there, because our waitress didn't speak English. If only Latinos came in, then there should be favorable food on the menu. There isn't. The table chips had a bad oil taste. The salsa was water down. The starter food, chicken soup, is chicken water. Our table of 4 ordered Chicken Flautas, Chicken enchiladas en Rojo, sopes, and a pollo a la Mexicana. Flautas were crispy but the chicken inside was too salty. Enchiladas red sauce was good but the chicken again, just bad. Sopes only came as chicken or beef, what about chorizo & potato? I picked chicken and guess what...bland. The chicken specialty dish looked like it was going to be good...of course our table of four, should have known better to think chicken all around would have been a good choice. The one star is for the rice & beans, they had flavor and I wish there was more on our plates. The service was preoccupied and had to be hailed down for refills and for the check. The 'entertainment' which may also be the owners were seated in the table next to us and kept bumping into the chair that one of us were seated in, even after we moved a couple of more inches away from them, with nada one apology or even acknowledgement of the act. Last night was our second attempt at eating here. Both were not good for different reasons. The first time was when they first opened. The food was just not good. things were bland, burnt or just gross. We decided to try them again as the sign said under new management/ ownership. Was off to a good start with the yummy chips and salsa. Waitress was very nice. I Was happy to see one of my hard to find fav's on the menu, Conchita pibill. All was good until the food came. My 4 & 8 yr old were splitting an appetizer platter and I thought it was nice that that they split it up in the kitchen. Then it went downhill: 1) my dish does not come how stated on the menu. No pickled onions or habanero salsa, I ask for them and receive grilled onions and this nasty little cup of dried/burnt pepper seeds mixed with oil and pickled jalapenos from a can. 2)My husbands steak/ shrimp dish was pretty flavorless and much smaller that the pic on the menu. 3)The worst part, my 4 yr old suddenly stated her food is spicy and starts gulping down her drink. I look on her plate, I taste her food, nothing is spicy. Her brother says nothing is spicy. Then suddenly, she starts puking!....Like 4 times! The only people concerned aside from us, was a table of men that were leaving and wanted to make sure she was ok. I take her to the bathroom to clean her up, she's fanning her mouth and drinking more water out of my hand. WTF We get back to the table, I check again, and I find a few small chunks of jalapeno on her plate mixed in with her pico de gallo. Are you kidding me. Why the hell is that on her plate! My sons did not have any jalapeno. No employee ever a said a word to us. Obviously, it's time to go. The waitress brings our check, with someone else's card still in it (we took it out) hubby gave her our card. When she brought the receipt back, hubby's card was gone and we had to ask for it back! We won't be back again. *note to Darius S. we called your card and reported it lost, who knows what would have happened if we had left it there. read more

Very nice and clean interior, cheerful and vibrant! Sure doesn't look that way from the outside. Waitress was pleasant and efficient. Chips and salsa were good (hot salsa!).
