Came in as a guest for a private party- graduation- in their second floor. The service was very good. The server walked around making sure everything was tidy and clean. The bartender made sure to bring coffee as soon as he noticed it was needed. They also kept refilling the chips and food area. The party had a buffet table with rice, beans, tortillas, chicken, and beef plus a toppings table with salsa, sour cream, chips, cilantro and onion. First time visiting, found this restaurant from reviews and because it was in close proximity to a planned activity after dinner. Margaritas were great, they make them using fresh syrup instead of bottled and you can tell the difference. Our server was super nice she made some great recommendations. I had the ceviche which was made with white fish shrimp and chopped veggies - it was really good and tasted freshly made. My friend had the camarones à la diabla (deviled shrimp in sauce) she got the sauce on the side just in case but said it was just the right amount of spice. One of the strangest experiences I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. We went there after work one day for some margaritas and food. We ordered the skinny margarita and it was awful...I know it's skinny but at least make it somewhat good. We then ordered just regular margaritas and they tasted better although not the best I've ever had. We then order our food...our waiter seemed nice and competent at first but then he seemed very confused when we were ordering. We then got scared our food would be wrong. We both ordered fajitas. When our food came, it was enchiladas...I told our waiter we ordered fajitas and not enchiladas he seemed very offended and when we asked him to take it back he said "well I guess I have to now". Uhh..yes you do!!! Then 15 min later magically our order was perfectly correct. We were so confused. The food was average. They do have an outdoor patio and the inside looked nice and big. Nickel and Dimed: Went with my family on half priced select margaritas night. The margaritas tasted like straight tequila asked if we could get more orange liqueur and lime (which were supposed to already be in the drinks)- not unless we payed an additional charge. We then decided to instead pay the standard price for different margaritas and I got the strawberry margarita which again tasted like straight tequila. I asked if I could get a little extra strawberry puree and managed to get one of the smallest shot glasses I've seen of puree - was told if I wanted more I'd have to be charged. I'm surprised my waiter even managed to eke out this glass from the kitchen considering how Scrooge was back there. I ordered the quesabirria which was just meat, cheese and tortilla and asked if I could get bell pepper and onion on it - again if I wanted it I needed to be charged a premium. Also the rice and beans which came with it were in the smallest cups imaginable I've seen restaurants give cups of ranch larger than that. The bill did not properly reflect the order and had the full priced house margaritas (on half price night) still there plus the additional margaritas we ordered. Waiter earlier told us she would take them off the bill when we ordered the other margaritas. Our waiter got them removed when asked but nobody would've known we got overcharged if we just payed and left instead of looking over the receipt. Food was ok though not the kind of quality and quantity I would've liked for the price. Felt like we were dealing with loan sharks instead of a restaurant. We had a great waiter though, very understanding and kind. TLDR: The stinginess and anti consumer practices here manage to make a meal feel like an IRS tax audit. read more

We had the spicy shrimp and the fish tacos. The fish tacos were top tier!! Perfectly seasoned, crispy and flavorful. The spicy shrimp are very spicy so be warned. The flavor was great and the refried beans were good, I would however recommend far less pepper in the beans and less of the red sauce for the shrimp. The service was friendly and fast! I was in Elmhurst for Clinical Training, and it was also Cinco De Mayo! Everything in the area had waits longer than an hour! If you know me.... I LOVE TACOS! Stopped in for an early dinner on Sunday and we asked to be seated outside. Just lovely! Service was exceptional, very attentive. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and each of us got a different 3-taco meal, with a side of fresh-roasted sweet potatoes, and everything was fresh, wholesome, and delicious. There were not a ton of vegan or vegetarian options, but my zucchini tacos were fantastic and I would definitely order those again. You often can't tell the quality Mexican restos by the surroundings. I've been in beautiful places where the food was awful, and complete shitholes where the cuisine was off the hook. This place here is nice enough on the eyes--the usual "Mexican" decor you find in every city, with the possible exception of Laredo, El Paso, and other south Texas environs. What they serve here is notch above, for sure. The de rigueur Chips and Salsa were quite tasty, if they aren't making the chips themselves, they've found a fab supplier, 'cos these were very fresh and full of that corn-y goodness that can't be faked. The Salsa was spicy, but not too. A perfect starter. It was a large table (about 11 folks), and no one else at it ordered any boozes, so I didn't either; therefore, a review of the Margarita will have to wait. Gotta say, though, I'll bet those salty little crunchies would have gone down a treat with a tart-sweet tequila-laden quaff. Wife ordered Quesadillas with cheese/onion only and they were good. I'd prefer them stuffed with rajas as well, but that's my taste. I swung with a trio of tacos, and here again, I believe the torts were hecho en casa. You can mix and match, and I did. the "Primos" house specialty was worth the choice. Marinated Skirt Steak, onion, cilantro, and salsa negra. Yum. I followed that with a fine AlPastor and a Carnitas. All three hit the spot. Service was pro and efficient. Everyone else at the table agreed the place was tip-top, and there were more than a few folks who are Mexican cuisine aficionados. Could not order Horchata online so called to make an order. After taking our order the man on the phone suggestes we order online since it would go directly to the kitchen and be a bit quicker. We ordered over the phone so we could order the drink. Voice was also very quiet on the phone, but we made our order. It took about 10 minutes lober than they said it would. Not a big deal, but we had to wait in our car a bit longer outside. Chicken Enchiladas honestly could have used more cheese, but otherwise I had no issues. Chimichanga could have been more crispy. Only the ends we were a bit crispy. Sauce and insides were very good though. Chicken Taco salad looked great. I did not eat that dish so I can't comment, but looked very good. That steak blew my mind and I grabbed the menu to find a dish with carne asada. I went with the tacos and do not regret it one bit! These steak tacos were possibly some of the best I've ever had. The pieces were quite big but the flavor - WOW! this place knows what they're doing. Service was super attentive, filling up drinks, taking plates and bottles, bringing extras, and more. My husband and I stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch. We started with the cheese dip and we knew it was going to be a great lunch experience. The salsa and chips to start were crisp and refreshing. The queso dip was thin in consistency and full of flavor. We ordered the enchiladas plate and the three tacos. The mole on the enchiladas was chocolatey in the best way. Flavor was deep. We had the al pastor and ground beef tacos. We had no leftovers. They were perfectly executed and we left content and full! They are still taking some COVID precautions by placing dividers. I've had some of the food before, it's good. Upscale Mexican -- the steak is very good though. Everything is well seasoned. Just don't really like they're chips. But that's just me. Drinks here are always amazing-- haven't had anything I didn't love! I'd recommend the Angel Fresh (really refreshing with the cucumber and mint). When this place busy, the staff ensures that you're still having an enjoyable time. First time giving Primos a try and it's a smidge above average your local Mexican restaurant. We started off with the guacamole as an appetizer which I recommend. You can tell it's been prepared fresh. We also started out with margaritas which were prepared strong FYI! I started out with your traditional marg for $10 but switched to the strawberry marg which I liked better. I ordered the al pastor tacos which were very good. Double tortilla along with a generous portion of meat. I would recommend the pastor tacos. We dined outside due to COVID - staff were friendly and all practicing safe guidelines. Don't get me wrong. The quality of the food is really great and the interior is clean and nice in the even have the partitions in between the tables for social distancing, but tacos, three of them, for $15? Common now. We ended up getting the chicken fajitas and suizo steak burrito. The suizo sauce wasn't as cheesy as I hoped it would be and made the burrito kinda soggy. Meh. Still like a 6.5 out of ten since the meat was decent but I think the mixed greens detract from the burrito. The fajitas were a good option even if they were 17 bucks. The fajitas came with rice and beans. This was a lot of food. There's no way you'll leave this place hungry that's for sure. I do like the service and the people that worked here were great. I just think for this location, the prices seem to be too steep. read more
