The wife and I ordered the Courtney sandwich and a pretzel to share. The pretzel was on point, although to be honest I didn't like the sandwich as much as I thought I would...but I'm mostly blaming myself for that. First of all, I started with the pretzel, so naturally I was on salt overload before even taking the first bite of sandwich. And that's where I made my next mistake. I ordered the sandwich on an everything bagel, which continued the saltfest. My third blunder was ordering only water to drink, thereby renouncing any relief from the sodium assault. As good (and big) as the sandwich looked, and as much as I love Boars Head pastrami, little flavor rose above the saltiness. 3.5 stars based mainly on the very reasonable sandwich price ($6) and tasty pretzel/mustard. Breadhive Cafe is an incredible, homey place! Bravo to the Breadhive Coop for opening it up and being so on top of everything opening day! I came here around lunch hour and was lucky enough to grab a table to work for a few hours. Wifi was fast and plentiful. The environment was super cozy with lots of great personality and it just feels nice and bright. Order is at the counter. I had The Gwen and a coffee (they serve public espresso beans!), which is a roasted turkey sandwich on your choice of bread (sourdough please) with some avocado. The sandwich was delicious and super fresh! The greens and first light peper jack (local cheese!) was super, cucumber onion and mayo = super good. My only qualm with the sandwich was the avocado seemed more like a guac spread then bits of avocado. I would have liked wayyy more avocado in the sandwich personally, but otherwise it's top notch. All in, Breadhive Cafe is a super cozy place. I can't wait to be back again and try more sweets, sandwiches and baked goods. They advertised that if you wanted their fantastic soft pretzels which they were making on Friday the 3rd of July, you had to get your order in by Wednesday at 9am. Well I hoped on line and placed my order for a dozen and paid and was just waiting for Friday to come. I received a confirmation text with my pickup time. Friday arrived and I found a parking place in front. People were in a short line outside (where a table with instructions) on it blocked the door. Everyone was masked and social distancing. And the short line went very quickly as everyone's order was ready on time. Many people had order pies and other items along with the pretzels. I thought I would take my chances and see if they had any extra pretzels. She was so cheerful and checked for me. Indeed she did so bought a few more. As always their pretzels are just wonderful. Crusty and soft on the inside. So when you pull them apart you get a wonderful mix of crunch and chew. Well worth the wait. I'm trying to figure out how I've been here SO many times, and never left a proper review?! Easy peasy, 5 stars. These girls are phenomenal and inspirational. They truly love what they do and it shines thru their delicious baked goods. I eat gluten sparingly, but when I do, I make sure it's on good food (hello breadhive obsession!) They have different daily choices, so be sure to follow their Instagram. It's not only informative, it's mouth watering. If you dine in, you'll find yourself taking pictures of their cute decor and probably heading back to the queue for something to take home. You can try one of their celeb inspired options, or be like me and go wild on a create-your-own. They serve alcohol and nonalcoholic beverages. I recommend their cold brew. My boyfriend usually always finishes his before his sandwich is even ready. They also have a public restroom and cool merch! I feel like I could ramble on and on about how amazing this place is, but I'll just say, trust me, give Breadhive just ONE try. I've stopped in at Breadhive a few times, but MAN oh man have they stepped their game up recently. Inside the cheery yellow exterior is a powerhouse cafe that serves up creative sandwiches on what is probably the most wonderful bread known to humankind. The main menu hasn't changed in a while as far as I know, but the worker-owners have expanded the rest of the menu to include alcohol, a plentiful à la carte snack selection found in the cooler, and some really spectacular pastries. Another recent and noteworthy add is a mimosa menu -- three variations on the brunch classic, each named after a member of Destiny's Child. When I was at Breadhive most recently, I had the Beyoncé, which mixes prosecco with kombucha (truly the queen). For breakfast I tried the glorious Shania, which is tofu scramble, roasted veg, and tempeh bacon on a pretzel. Service is quick and friendly. You order at the counter, and they'll call your name when the order is ready. If it's a nice day, I recommend waiting inside until you receive your food, and then enjoying the outdoor seating. I can't wait to spend the rest of my summer sitting on the patio, sipping on a mimosa, and trying every single thing on their menu. read more

My first time at this place and I'm not a huge fan of breakfast sandwiches or bagels, but man was it delicious. They're offering outdoor seating right now and you can order or pick up right in front of the restaurant. The service was nice and the sandwiches were fresh and so good. I stopped in on National Pretzel Day. They had a special $3 for a pretzel and small dip. I got 2 pretzels and a dill pickle dip and pimento cheese dip, to go. The pretzels were soft and tasted great. The dill pickle dip was awesome with chunks of pickle and lots of dill. The pimento cheese was good too, nice cheese flavor, lots of pimento. It was a great deal. I have been here a few other times. Had the chance to stop by Breadhive after my yoga class and was impressed! It was a lovely Saturday afternoon and I wanted a little something so I ordered the carrot ginger soup and a bagel. The food itself was delicious, but I was more impressed by the atmosphere and the cooperative nature of the business. The bagels are displayed in a cute display on the wall--I'm a sucker for quirky displays like this. Service was quick and very friendly. Lots of great places to sit and work or chat with friends. There is a cute little book nook if you want to get some reading in and have forgotten to bring something with you. They also have a loyalty program to grab a free sandwich after you buy 10! We were heading out for breakfast when we ran into the neighbor of the AIRBNB place we stayed ya. So of course we asked for recommendations from the local and he recommended us this place. Stopped in for brunch today and it was very busy. Not too many places to sit, so most orders were to go. They serve breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches all day long. There's a few to pick from, or you can build your own on bread, bagel, or pretzel. The prices range from $6-$8 per sandwich. They don't come with a side but they're filling. For drinks, they have coffee, cold brew coffee, beer and kombucha on tap, and beverages in the fridge. They sell other local products here including Barrel and Brine kombucha and Public Espresso coffee. We had a good experience, and food was tasty, but deducting a star for the steep prices and also because they forgot the cucumber on my sandwich. :( read more

Can we rename the west side the Buffalo Bread Belt yet? It's so exciting to watch this area rise (like a perfect fluffy baguette) with the aid of gorgeous little bakeries like Breadhive. Since their humble beginnings as a literal window, the worker-owners of this place have transformed it into a powerhouse cafe and bake shop serving up classic baked goods alongside a smart sandwich menu. It doesn't really make much semantic sense to say that Breadhive has a focus on diversity....but that's how it feels. A varied menu is expanded further by a selection of breads and bagels, and a grab-and-go cooler stocked with local goodies racks on even more. This is one of the few places in Buffalo I would consider a destination spot for vegetarians and vegans; the Shania is a classic breakfast sandwich with tofu scramble and tempeh bacon, the Björk combines the same bacon with Barrel & Brine kimchi for a Korean twist, the Stevie is a filling riff on an Italian panini, and the Dolly is all the down-home barbecue goodness you've ever wanted. The coffee here is sourced from Public Espresso, and I think this is actually my favorite place that serves it. If this is the Breadhive, I am a loyal bee. read more

My wife and I came here for a quick bite, after realizing they had a small outdoor patio. Got some cold brew which was decent (maybe I'm just not a cold brew kind of guy?) and got the Aaliyah with turkey substituted and the the Britney. They were both phenomenal. The Britney was fresh and light but still filling, while the Aaliyah with turkey was the perfect melding of breakfast and lunch. It had a salt from the bagel and a light sweetness from the maple syrup in every bite. The service was also wonderful, definitely come check this spot out! read more

Finally a place to get a fresh breakfast sandwich with out having to pay 20$! I ordered the Aaliyah Breakfast Sandwich. It was classic but with a touch of maple syrup! The sausage tastes so fresh and although I would have loved more syrup, I enjoyed every last bite! I ordered it on a rosemary bagel which at first I thought I was going to regret because of how strong rosemary can be , but it was the perfect amount. My son had an orange & beet juice that he absolutely loved (and it appeared to have no added sugar and was on the healthier side). We also tried a delectable molasses ginger cookie. Super cozy cafe (LOVE the tin ceiling BTW) is a must for breakfast or lunch when on the Westside of Buffalo! From the outside it looks like a yellow house. There's plenty of street parking and I've never had a problem finding a spot. If your parallel parking skills aren't on point, you might have an issue. When busy you may have a problem finding seating as the tables and window seats are limited. I often find myself getting my order to go. My favorite go to breakfast sandwich is The Aaliyah which is house made sausage, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese and maple butter on your choice of bagel or bread. All of their breads, bagels, bake goods are house made. There's a list of the different varieties of breads that are made daily! Don't forget to pick up their baguette or a loaf of the Sourdough! Another favorite of mine is their soft pretzels! Nice for a late night snack! I LOVE the fact they use local brands and ingredients! I've been here once before and had an excellent experience. My experience today was no less excellent. The customer service is very friendly and upbeat. I like the fact that they are forthcoming with how much the wait time will be to have your sandwiches made especially on the weekend when there are a lot of takeout orders being processed. They have a wide selection of really delicious bagels and especially the pretzel bagels are a big hit. They are almost always at the Bidwell farmers market and very often they sell out of their fares. I had the Brittany sandwich again today on an everything bagel in it is scrumptious to say the least. The cold brew is also very tasty. I did not opt for a breakfast dessert item but they do have a limited selection of items to choose from. I would like to try one of their lunch sandwiches at some point in the future. I can't say enough of how enjoyable this establishment is and how satisfying the food is. The best bagel and sandwich shop in the city! We used to drive from Williamsville for the food, but are now lucky enough to be in walking distance! I have pretty much tried everything they have and they never disappoint. The bagels are the best when warm in the morning (don't even need to toast; rosemary & sea salt is best), and the sandwiches are equally amazing. My personal favorite is the Robyn, which is pastrami with cheese, thousand island dressing, and locally sourced kraut and pickles. We finally got to Breadhive's cafe to see what all the hype was about after seeing them for a couple years at the markets and the Coop. We rode our bikes over early on Saturday to check it out. Breadhive Cafe is a cute, small, sunny cafe. The day we were there they were putting up a side awning which should double their seating which is currently only about 5 tables, and maybe 10 window seats. There was a line as we left, so be prepared for plan B in regards to seating....... I think I will just always plan on going early. read more

K so. I was unable to pick up a loaf of sourdough that I pre-purchased on Saturday, during their comical business and online pickup order window time, and had some issues. It happened to be a holiday that Sunday so I called first thing Monday and asked if I could come pick up my loaf. I was very apologetic about missing my pickup window. I was told that I could purchase a new loaf if I would like to do so - they make 100s of these a day and the leftovers are donated or turned in to other products. No loss here. These business owners decided that they'd rather lose a lifetime customer (and repeat, I ordered from a few times a month), over giving me a fresh loaf of sourdough that costs them a fraction of the 7 DOLLARS I paid for it. Shame on you. Their bread is fine. Cookies are great. read more
