    Breakfast sandwich special
    Jill K.

Stopped in because the cafe we wanted to go to had a limited menu for the upcoming holidays and we're happy to see this close by as an option. The staff was friendly and food was ready quick and as we took our order to go, I was happy with the choice, that was until one of the sandwiches had not only 1 but 2 hairs cooked into the eggs so was thrown out! After the other one was checked, I tried it and it was nothing special and the home fries were ice cold! I'll admit I lost my appetite upon seeing the other sandwich so it was not much of a loss not eating more. Will not return.

Me and my Girlfriend went to the cafe for breakfast, I ordered the 3 special and she ordered the hertel. Once our meals arrived my order was wrong. We sat on their patio section where we saw a ladybugs and flies repeatedly landed on us and our table. The Cafe itself is relatively small and gives you diner vibe.

The breakfast food was delicious, there's also fresh donuts to try out. The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance casual. A old school breakfast spot with delicious home cooked food. I'll definitely come again.

Went for a late breakfast with a friend and we were not disappointed by our meal. It was a little busy in there on the day we went, but the service was still quick and friendly. I got the number three breakfast special which came with eggs, sausage home fries, and toast. And they had the bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Really enjoyed the meal a lot and I've been back since to also try the patty melt, which is delicious! Dining im can be a little busy and even with call in orders sometimes it might be a wait but it's totally worth it and looking forward to dining here again to enjoy the patio when the weather is nicer out.

This cozy cafe sits on the corner of hertel and serves up authentic American cuisine. We stopped in for a late breakfast, which they serve all day. Their outside patio was waiting for us. We started with one of their homemade donuts. These were delicious, they were heavy and cake like compared to other donuts. I tried their breakfast quesadilla, which was a decent price and a large size big enough for 2 people. Meat was extra, along with an upcharge automatically added to you bill for any item you had that contained eggs. The decent priced quesadilla increased quite a bit! I also sampled their French toast special, it was tasty, nothing stellar tho. The coffee was great and the service was too. The server was super friendly and was eager to make recommendations as we navigated through the menu. All and all it was good. If your looking for your basic American cuisine with a relaxing vibe as you people watch, give this place a try.

Great service and great food. What more could you ask for? Our new favorite breakfast place in Buffalo!

Biscuits & gravy, egg, home fries

I've been meaning to try cafe on the avenue for breakfast for a while now, and it was so worth the visit! I got the biscuits and gravy which was the special, and it was probably one of the best things I've ever had, genuinely. It's a cute little spot tucked away, perfect for a cozy breakfast/lunch. Patio is covered and looked nice, but we sat inside. The service was great and the waitress was such a sweetheart, she really added to the whole thing. I'd recommend this place a thousand times, so excited to go back!!!

Open for breakfast, they have homemade donuts and sit-down or to-go meals. Nothing terribly fancy. Everything you would expect from a neighborhood cafe including coffee, of course. I came for lunch and had delicious bean soup and a very traditional turkey bacon club sandwich. Service is excellent. There's a nice warm fireplace if you go on a chilly day. Accessible on both metro bus #23 Hertel and #11 Colvin. This restaurant would be somewhat challenging in a wheelchair, but at least there's no stairs.

Great little breakfast spot. Went around 930 on a Saturday and didn't have to wait- sat right outside. Quick service. We enjoyed the breakfast sandwich the most.

I am visiting family and staying on hertel, It is conveniently located so my partner and I decided to give this cute cafe a shot and man I am just blown away. Quaint on the inside and a very mom and pop energy but the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The donuts are delicious, I have tried quite a few of the lunch and breakfast items as I have gone three days in a row and each time I am shocked at the consistency in service and quality. Truly a must enjoy cafe and a must try if you're in the area. Great prices as well-overall a great place to eat and kill some time. We never felt rushed and my only critique is I wish they had a larger social media prescence. We will be back again.

Oh, I love it here. If you ever get a chance to get the Italian skillet special when it's available ,do so. It's pretty lovely.

I asked the waitress if the cheese could be melted & was told there was really no way to do it. It could be put under a heat lamp but that would take some time. We have asked for our eggs this way at other establishments and never received them like this. The bacon was floppy & needed to be cooked more. My daughter loves pancakes, but she wouldn't eat the ones here. I tasted them, and they were very dense, and tasted like they were from a not-so-great boxed mix. The sausage was good, as was the homemade strawberry jam, and the staff was great, but we won't be returning to any Stacks restaurants.

The vibe is so right, in fact this restaurant has a personality of its own, which matches its amazing eclectic selection of delicious foods. On beautiful sunny Spring, Summer or Autumn days you can enjoy the neighborhood on the patio or you can always choose to dine in one of their several comfortable dining rooms all of which feature art (Some of which you can purchase ) that will get you leaving your seat for a closer look. We were rewarded with two truly special brunch items ... a layered "French toast" that I stared at as a diner near me ate hers and an orange infused pair of delicious waffles. They were perfect and filling (This ended up as our only meal on this beautiful Sunday.). The quality of service matched the food ... we lingered soaking in the atmosphere just enjoying life at Betty's. When asked by neighbors where we went for brunch we said "Betty's" and they smiled knowingly. Once you're familiar with Betty's you've found a friend.

I called just before closing time to place a pickup order. I spoke to a man who asked me to hold. Then, another person answered the phone. She asked me how many orders I wanted and how soon I could get there. I answered her questions, and she asked if I could pay over the phone. She wouldn't authorize the payment until I arrived. She also asked me again how soon I could get there and said they could have the food ready in a "couple of minutes." At this point, I was frustrated. I had already answered her questions, and I wanted to focus on the actual items I wanted. I said, "I've answered the question already. Perhaps we can focus on a real customer service experience and talk about the actual items I would like." This was very off-putting. The woman seriously needs to practice customer service. The dynamic of the conversation changed. She was slightly more pleasant, but I shouldn't have to go through that to be treated with basic decency. I arrived at the establishment at this point, and the doors were locked. It was 2:00 p.m., and I waited for at least 5-6 minutes before someone came up and asked if I had the takeout order. I understand that Betty's is a small, locally owned, and incredibly fast-paced restaurant. However, to consistently feel mistreated each time I go is frustrating. I know this might sound like I'm making assumptions, but I can't help but feel like there might be a racial dynamic at play. I've witnessed many interactions at Betty's, and mine have been consistently unpleasant whereas I have not observed the same. Because of this, I won't be returning to Betty's. I encourage others who may have had similar experiences to consider avoiding it as well.
