So it seemed fitting to honor both of them and it satisfied my craving. The catered memorial looked great but it was difficult to make a proper plate. I always crave matzo ball soup. Luckily I had my fan to help cool off my soup. I did add a little salt and pepper. Other than that it was total comfort. $15 We shared a club sandwich and got French fries instead. All the condiments, Russian dressing, ranch come in prepackaged little containers. Ranch tasted fresh and homemade. I used a little of the Russian dressing. Is that a Brent's thing? $22 + $3 for French fries. I wanted a little sweet and got the blueberry cheesecake. That was the best cheesecake ever. Actual blueberries inside the cheesecake. So creamy and delicious. $11 Pickles are always my favorite. I got bagel chips with my matzo ball soup. I ordered corned beef and cabbage for my 99 year old mom. We ordered the Black Pastrami Reuben to go. It came with steak fries, cole slaw, pickles, and a small handful of condiments. Inside had a well worn diner type of vibe. People were friendly and service was fairly quick. Overall, the sandwich was really well done. The fresh rye bread was so lovely. It was crispy crunchy and had a nice toastiness to it. The meat was flavorful, not too salty, and moist. And the sauerkraut added a nice crunchy tang. All in all, the sandwich was delicious and devoured in under 20min. It was plenty for both my husband and I to share a single sando. For the sides, the steak fries needed a lil salt but otherwise a decent filler side. The slaw was creamy and crisp and very refreshing. The pickles were a little under pickled and tasted a lil more cucumber-y than we'd like. I would say this is the most famous deli in the valley and is one of the most popular in Los Angeles County in general. It's been around for decades and has served tons of patrons over the years. Inside is huge with all sorts of tables and booths so it can host many different sized groups from small to large. It's located in a small shopping center so there is plenty of free parking attached directly in front, which is extremely convenient. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. For this visit, I started off with a cup of the Chili and thought it was actually really good. I am a huge fan of chili and don't often get some that I really love, but this was definitely one of those. Next came the Mini Blintzes and these were pretty nice. I prefer a full Blintz because it has a lot more cheese and filling, but still these were a nice start, especially if are were new to this appetizer. For my entrée, I chose the Pastrami Reuben and thought it was great. It was honestly huge and I even forgot to take a picture of it because I was excited to eat it. Brent's Deli is an institution in the San Fernando Valley, and it may just be its best. One thing for sure, the portions are generally humongous so you will never leave hungry. Nothing succeeds like excess. In fact, most people will need a take out box for one less meal to cook. Delicatessen means delicate eating in German, but at a Jewish American Delicatessen, the emphasis is on the Eating, which I am not complaining. 1) I requested an off menu item of having a Reuben sandwich where half is Corned Beef and the other Pastrami. Brent's Reuben has warm Sauerkraut, grilled Rye bread, melted Swiss Cheese, 1,000 Island dressing. Thinly sliced, multi-layered Mound of Pastrami is a bit on the dry side. Curing doesn't create a deep meaty Umami and spicing is present but attenuated. The Corned Beef is moister with bit more Umami & plush, thin multi-layered red colored meat. I have to say the Pastrami at Langer's is cured more intensely to bring out a deep Umami as well as more complex and complementary spicing of especially warm spiced cloves that adds aromatic richness. Brent's Pastrami doesn't seem to reach that kind of apotheosis. 1b) I asked for the steak fries to be fried two minutes longer for a crisper finish which was honored. Not much in way of that distinctive potato earthiness, but acceptable. 1c) Coleslaw is mayonnaise based, watery, bland, but a good cruciferous, fibrous veggie to add more fibre, healthful phytochemicals to counter the meat overload even though it isn't flavourful 2) Carrot Cake is closer to a delicate, dense, moist spice cake. A slice is enormous since it is cut from an extra tall cake studded with crushed walnuts and a cream cheese like not too sweet frosting. At $14 it could feed 4 people. Service is fine. Look at this incredible black and white cookie! The white is flat icing, and the chocolate is thick frosting. That's the way it should be! This was my take-home treat after enjoying brunch today with an LA friend. It was worth it for both of us to come to the far north SFV. We split the mini-blintzes and mini-latkes for our appetizer, and then shared a big order of lox/eggs/onions, perfectly plated into two portions. I have been going to Brent's for YEARS!! I used to work in the general neighborhood and went quite often, however, I'm no longer super close by, so we only go on occasion. I always enjoy it when we do. The restaurant is located in a shopping center with several other businesses. There is a large parking lot, and I've never had any issues finding a space. The restaurant has both sit down dining and take out. If you enjoy pastrami, you can't go wrong with any of the pastrami options. All of the soups are really great, and I'm especially partial to matzo ball and mish mosh. The service is always attentive and friendly. I came to Brent's Deli in Northridge on 07/21/2026 for the first time at 11:30am with a party of four. This was my first time here, and I am told it is kind of an institution in this area. It is a pretty non-descript strip shopping center. It can best be described as an old-school diner/deli, full service, and pretty much always bustling. I was surprised that it was almost to capacity by 11:30am, even before the lunch rush. You take a look at the menu, and note that the prices appear to be about 5 dollars higher than places similar in nature; however, you will also soon realize that the portion size and value for that dollar goes a long way, and you will quickly notice that the price paid is really good for what you get. I ordered the Monte Cristo which was deliciously fried egg bread with turkey, ham and a side of jam. It came with potato or macaroni salad; however, I upgraded to fries which were awesome. First time coming to Brent's in Northridge. I liked the ambience and service was excellent. Since it was Tuesday, they had a half sandwich Reuben on special. I ordered this special. I was delivered a plate of three slices of pickle while I waited. The special came with super salad. I opted for the barley soup. The soup was very tasty though the mushrooms that were in the soup were old. There were nice chunks of meat in the soup. The plate with a sandwich some french fries and coleslaw came out next. The sandwich had a lot of meat and a nicely bread. I liked the sandwich. The french fries were thick cut and obviously frozen fries. They were OK but could be better. The coleslaw was sour and I found a piece that looked moldy. See photo. I asked for a replacement and was brought the potato salad. One taste of the potato salad and I could taste that it had bell pepper which I do not eat so I didn't like the potato salad. I went out of my way to come here. I would not do so again. Yup, I made it out to the SFV! What got me here is meeting up with some friends craving pastrami at Brent's Delicatessen. If you make it out here, trust me. Go with the Black Pastrami Ruben. Ask for thick hand cut pastrami. It comes with grilled rye bread, Swiss cheese, hot sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing. Comes with fat fries and coleslaw. Fries serve piping hot and the cool refreshing coleslaw were a good contrast with the Ruben. Aside from that, the crew shared a few items. Potato Lakes are deep fried potato cakes served with sour cream and cherry apple sauce. The interesting dish that we had is the noddle kugel. It's a sweet casserole of thin egg noodles, sour cream, cottage cheese, cinnamon and spices. Interesting enough, it's baked with a cinnamon corn flake crust. I'm not a big fan of beef liver. Chicken liver I don't mind but beef is a different story. The version here is chopped liver with specs of egg, and mayo looking like a tuna salad served with rye bread, side of tomato and onions. Anyways, I sucked it up and tried it. Well, I didn't die and I guess it's good for me. That iron grittiness is hard to get over. I had a sampling of the matzo ball soup. We were there around 1pm and had to wait 30min for a table. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza and there is ample parking. The inside is a bit outdated but very reminiscent of a dinner. Brent's Deli located in the San Fernando Valley rivals the more famous Langer's in town in the Westlake area of Los Angeles. So it was without a doubt that I had the Brent's #13 which is similar to Langers #19 --- pastrami topped with cole slaw, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing on a double baked rye bread. The specialty sandwich was exactly what the soul was looking for and certainly as good as Langers #19 without the hassle of the drive to Westlake. A few friends and I were talking about matzoh ball soup and I just so happened to be in the area visiting a friend, so I thought it would be perfect to hit this place up on the way home. I came in the late afternoon so I was able to get seated pretty much right away. Since it was almost dinner time there were groups starting to trickle in (it was a Sunday). The decor is old school, there is a full on deli that you can order from, in addition to plenty of baked goods like black and white cookies, chocolate eclairs, carrot cake, and Lemon bars. The staff here are all wonderful and friendly. My sister got the French Toast, my wife built her own omelette and I got the grilled chicken breast club with fruits.
