I would say this is the most famous deli in the valley and is one of the most popular in Los Angeles County in general. It's been around for decades and has served tons of patrons over the years. Inside is huge with all sorts of tables and booths so it can host many different sized groups from small to large. It's located in a small shopping center so there is plenty of free parking attached directly in front, which is extremely convenient. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. For this visit, I started off with a cup of the Chili and thought it was actually really good. I am a huge fan of chili and don't often get some that I really love, but this was definitely one of those. Next came the Mini Blintzes and these were pretty nice. I prefer a full Blintz because it has a lot more cheese and filling, but still these were a nice start, especially if are were new to this appetizer. For my entrée, I chose the Pastrami Reuben and thought it was great. It was honestly huge and I even forgot to take a picture of it because I was excited to eat it. I would suggest if you are a fan of Rubens and would suggest this restaurant in general if you like a good deli.

Brent's Deli is an institution in the San Fernando Valley, and it may just be its best. One thing for sure, the portions are generally humongous so you will never leave hungry. Nothing succeeds like excess. In fact, most people will need a take out box for one less meal to cook. Delicatessen means delicate eating in German, but at a Jewish American Delicatessen, the emphasis is on the Eating, which I am not complaining. 1) I requested an off menu item of having a Reuben sandwich where half is Corned Beef and the other Pastrami. Brent's Reuben has warm Sauerkraut, grilled Rye bread, melted Swiss Cheese, 1,000 Island dressing. Thinly sliced, multi-layered Mound of Pastrami is a bit on the dry side. Curing doesn't create a deep meaty Umami and spicing is present but attenuated. The Corned Beef is moister with bit more Umami & plush, thin multi-layered red colored meat. I have to say the Pastrami at Langer's is cured more intensely to bring out a deep Umami as well as more complex and complementary spicing of especially warm spiced cloves that adds aromatic richness. Brent's Pastrami doesn't seem to reach that kind of apotheosis. 1b) I asked for the steak fries to be fried two minutes longer for a crisper finish which was honored. Not much in way of that distinctive potato earthiness, but acceptable. 1c) Coleslaw is mayonnaise based, watery, bland, but a good cruciferous, fibrous veggie to add more fibre, healthful phytochemicals to counter the meat overload even though it isn't flavourful 2) Carrot Cake is closer to a delicate, dense, moist spice cake. A slice is enormous since it is cut from an extra tall cake studded with crushed walnuts and a cream cheese like not too sweet frosting. At $14 it could feed 4 people. Service is fine. They take your order and run with it. Bit of tunnel vision where it may be a bit hard to flag them down. But the job does get done. Overall 3+ stars

    Perfect Black & White Cookie

Look at this incredible black and white cookie! The white is flat icing, and the chocolate is thick frosting. That's the way it should be! This was my take-home treat after enjoying brunch today with an LA friend. It was worth it for both of us to come to the far north SFV. We split the mini-blintzes and mini-latkes for our appetizer, and then shared a big order of lox/eggs/onions, perfectly plated into two portions. Lots of goodies on the side like cream cheese, butter, jam, applesauce and sour cream. Washed down with strong iced tea, and constant refills, thank you! This was a great deli experience. The only thing I won't tell is what time we went, because we were able to score a booth with only five minutes' wait time. Shhhhh...

I have been going to Brent's for YEARS!! I used to work in the general neighborhood and went quite often, however, I'm no longer super close by, so we only go on occasion. I always enjoy it when we do. The restaurant is located in a shopping center with several other businesses. There is a large parking lot, and I've never had any issues finding a space. The restaurant has both sit down dining and take out. If you enjoy pastrami, you can't go wrong with any of the pastrami options. All of the soups are really great, and I'm especially partial to matzo ball and mish mosh. The service is always attentive and friendly. On our most recent visit at the end of May 2026, we only ordered take out. Maria was the person at the counter who took care of our order and she was top notch. Everything was perfect.

I hadn't been to Brent's in maybe 15 years, came on a Saturday afternoon on a whim. First time I came was probably around 1996! We waited about 10-15 mins outside. No shade , so watch out if it's a HOT day. We split the signature Pastrami sandwich . Very good, as good as I recall. My cousin got the tuna sandwich. . I didn't love it , but didn't stop me from finishing her half - haha. Nice service , positive experience. If this is what you are desiring - a Jewish deli - you'll enjoy for sure. Quite tasty sandwiches.

Brent's was ALWAYS the best deli in L.A.... and they still are. I moved to Palm Beach, FL 13-years-ago and it's better than any in Palm Beach County. For brunch my cousins & I had lox, or both w/toasted bagels. It was delicious. And as excellent as the food was, the service was just as good. The Waitstaff was quick, efficient and very professional. Every time I'm in L.A. I make it a point to stop at Brent's and you should too. You'll never be disappointed!

Another great trip to Brent's yesterday. My new tip is don't snooze on the pickles. This time I took some home, old and new pickles. I got the hamburger steak, yum!! Of course the service was great and dining room was so clean.

Asked server if the cod was okay for a 1 yr old, he said YES, when we got this $26 3 piece fish it tasted like pure SALT, I asked if it was cook and the server responded of course sarcastically. It would have been okay with bad food but our server was constantly in a RUSH and with attitude.

First time coming to Brent's in Northridge. I liked the ambience and service was excellent. Since it was Tuesday, they had a half sandwich Reuben on special. I ordered this special. I was delivered a plate of three slices of pickle while I waited. The special came with super salad. I opted for the barley soup. The soup was very tasty though the mushrooms that were in the soup were old. There were nice chunks of meat in the soup. The plate with a sandwich some french fries and coleslaw came out next. The sandwich had a lot of meat and a nicely bread. I liked the sandwich. The french fries were thick cut and obviously frozen fries. They were OK but could be better. The coleslaw was sour and I found a piece that looked moldy. See photo. I asked for a replacement and was brought the potato salad. One taste of the potato salad and I could taste that it had bell pepper which I do not eat so I didn't like the potato salad. I went out of my way to come here. I would not do so again. I would come back if I happen to be in the area. I'm a bit spoiled, having had the best of Jewish deli on the East Coast. The West Coast deli is just don't measure up.

    Matzo Ball Soup

At a lively location in a Northridge strip mall, a visit to Brent's Deli is the best way to connect with long held traditions. You're here to enjoy classic comforting dishes passed down through generations. Grab a seat at one of the comfortable booths or dine at the counter. You can get a combo with half a traditional sandwich with a soup. I opted for the Hot Pastrami with cole slaw and a cup of chicken noodle soup with a matzo ball. The pastrami is sliced thin and piled in a massive round stack. The meat is rich and tasty. I think my mouth watered before taking the next hearty bite. The toasted rye bread is soft with really nice crusty edges. The caraway seeds impart an intense peppery, herbal, and citrusy flavor. The sandwich is so good that next time I'd skip the amazing matzo ball soup for a full sandwich. You can have an accompanying plate of pickles, which are tangy but not too sour. What's more better than a hot bowl of chicken soup on a "cold" "winter's" day in LA? The matzo ball is light, fluffy, and airy. The chicken soup could have been served a bit hotter, but it's clear and comforting. Egg noodles are thin and short. The shredded chicken and carrots are tender and sweet. Dip some chunks of the rye bread into the soup and the chicken flavor and the rye are somehow amplified Parking: The parking lot is large and spots are ready to find.

I had to take one star off due to the extreme dryness of the chocolate cake. The piece was huge so we shared it with our kids. Not one of them liked it. The rugelach was not good either. I definitely can't recommend them. Canters has better baked goods. 1/8/26

My husband purchased several knishes from Mort's Deli. We understood these to be meat knishes based upon how they were described and priced. After bringing them home and cutting them open, we discovered that they were not true meat knishes, but rather potato-and-meat knishes. Had the product been accurately described, we would not have purchased it. We specifically sought meat knishes and paid the corresponding price (see the receipts attached). When I contacted the store to address the issue, employee Kate maintained that the potato-and-meat knish should nevertheless be considered a meat knish. Regardless of the terminology used internally by the store, the product was not what we reasonably understood we were purchasing. The situation became even more troubling when I repeatedly requested copies of the receipts. During the course of the dispute, I was informed that the receipts were not accessible. However, the receipts were ultimately produced and later emailed to me as ordered by the police. Notably, the receipts explicitly identified the product as a "Brisket Knish" and reflected the corresponding charge. The receipts therefore became an important part of understanding how the product had been represented and sold. Rather than resolving the matter promptly and professionally, manager Gail continued to escalate the situation unnecessarily. Ultimately, Gail instigated the calling of law enforcement to the store. Two police officers responded to the scene. Following their investigation, the store was ordered by the police to produce the receipts. The police officers became involved in what should have been a routine customer-service matter. With their assistance, the receipts were eventually produced after previously being misrepresented as inaccessible. What makes this experience particularly upsetting is that my husband is severely disabled, partially paralyzed, and walks with a cane. What should have been a simple request for fair treatment escalated into an unnecessary confrontation involving law enforcement. The needless inconvenience, travel, physical burden, and emotional distress inflicted upon both my husband and me were unfair and unjustifiable. As loyal customers, we found the entire experience shocking and disturbing. We sent the store owner an email detailing the incident but the owner never responded.

I was intrigued when I saw a spot that I had never heard of with a good yelp rating, I had to check it out. After reading a few of the reviews, and looking at the photographs I was sold. The Antidote delivery was close by, but let me tell you I had difficulty finding it. I want to make sure that others are aware of the challenge because it is definitely worth it. The issue is the signage. I was confident when I walked in and told Arthur, the gentleman behind the counter, that there was no sign, indicating Antidote Delivery, he politely corrected me. It turns out that next to the "market" sign there is an exclamation mark Which shows antidote delivery. My eyes went right over it and I never saw it, as a result I found myself circling around, trying to find the correct location. Once you find it, you may be hesitant to enter thinking that this is just a liquor store. In fact, this market has been here for 25 years and they prepare a fresh submarine sandwich that is delicious. So here is what you need to know upfront, the ambience is not desirable, so plan on a takeout. But if you're looking for a local business with a fresh delicious submarine sandwich, I would give this a try. Arthur was very kind to explain that they do deliveries within 5 miles for $2.99. So if you live within 5 miles you can order your sandwich and have it delivered. It's convenient because it's also a liquor store. You can order anything else at the same time and have that included for that nominal fee. It's always nice to support local places, this feels like a family business but I didn't ask so I'm not sure. One thing I'm certain of, I will be returning.

Not too dense or thick - just the right crisp and airy bread to filling ratio that you want in a banh mi! You can also buy baguettes to take home. Back in the day they were 3 for $1! Yup, apparently I'm that old... today they're a couple of bucks, but still worth it. Sorry I failed to take pics of my sandwich when it was freshly made, I was just so excited to go back in time to this little corner of Reseda that looks like it hasn't changed! The photo shown is the next day.. and that's only HaLF of the sandwich! The lady at the counter was so sweet! Don't assume rudeness for challenges with communication. I was nice and she was kind in return. There's a language barrier and at first she was shy, but once we worked through the English-Vietnamese translations with the help of Google, I was able to ask her if they sell Kho Ga La Chanh (Chicken Jerky) - and she ran excitedly to the back and produced a sealed bag of their homemade jerky! Not the same flavor profile as the stuff I buy in San Gabriel Valley, but it's a start! I'll bring them a sample the next time I get a batch to see if they can mimic the sweet spice. Theirs is a little more "five spice" forward. I placed my order for a #1 "Dac Biet" sandwich, "extra pâté, extra veggies". That's my default sammie by which I judge all Bánh Mi and I'm here to say that even a day later, right out of my fridge it's still THE best Banh Mi in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys! Bright, fresh, generously filled.. and the magic bread. I happen to know that a local chain of popular phô restaurants buys their bahn (rolls) daily from Sandwich Express to make their own sandwiches and to serve with their Bho Ko (stew)! If you're wondering for reference where my bar is set, my go-to banh mi spots in San Gabriel Valley are Bánh Mi Hue Thai and Banh Mi Hoa Phat. ~IYKYK~ What has changed at Sandwich Express? It's not just sandwiches anymore AND they have a few tables inside where you can sit down to eat! They don't have my beloved Soda Xí Muội (salted plum soda) or the lime version either. Just canned and bottled American sodas, but that's not a deal breaker. Check out the posted menu pics. Bún Bò Huě, Bò Kho.. the owner did suggest calling first to make sure these items are available on the day you want to come, but she boasts that it's very authentic! They even have broken rice dishes with grilled pork chop (Cóm Tãm Súòn)! I read in another review that the original owners sold. I don't know if this is accurate or when it happened.. but I didn't see the older people that were often in the kitchen so it's possible! Back to the changes - they have desserts now, too! They also cater! What?!? No longer cash only, they accept Visa/Mastercard. I'm so glad we stopped! They still hold the #1 spot in the area. Convince me otherwise!

We had a very disappointing experience with this store, both in terms of food quality and customer…read moreservice. We have been loyal customers for over 10 years and frequently order the beef sandwich and pâté. Yesterday, we ordered two beef sandwiches and one pâté. Since we live only 8-10 minutes away, we returned home immediately after picking up the order. When I started eating, I noticed that the pâté tasted very sour and spoiled. Unfortunately, I had already mixed part of it with my rice, so I had to throw it away. We called the store right away to report the issue, and they told us we could bring the pâté back the next day. Today, we returned to the store. We did not request a refund--we simply wanted to exchange the item and were willing to pay the difference for a beef sandwich instead. However, the staff member we spoke with was very rude and accused us of lying, claiming that we had eaten the pâté. We explained that we had to discard it since it was mixed with rice and even showed a photo that we throw it in to the trash, but she continued to question our honesty. In the past, we have had positive experiences with previous staff, and the owners have always been kind. Unfortunately, this particular employee demonstrated very poor customer service and made the situation unnecessarily unpleasant. An apology would have been appropriate. The employee declined to provide her name and appeared hesitant. She is a newer staff member, approximately in her 50s, and spoke incessantly while repeatedly blaming us for the situation. This is not about the cost--the amount is small. It is about how customers are treated. While this issue could have been escalated further, including reporting to the health department, we chose not to. What we expect instead is for the store to ensure proper food quality and provide better TRAINING for staff. Due to this experience, we will not be returning and will share our experience with others.
