It's some sort of a mystery game where you have to find clues and solve puzzles in order to achieve a goal, which is to BREAK THROUGH! Get it? My friends and I did it, and I mean we did the challenge but we didn't break through. But you know what, IT DOES NOT MATTER. The fun is in trying to solve the mystery. Break Through Reno is a great place to exercise your brain, work as a group and have fun all at the same time. This is the second escape room company we have visited. The first was in Vancouver, Canada and we loved it so much that we did two of their rooms. Coming into Reno, I looked for another escape room experience, and Break Through Reno was excellent. We came as a set of parents and several teenage girls who all enjoy puzzles and games. It was the first escape room experience for my niece and our family friend. We did "the Mask". It was full of many different puzzles, clues and mysteries for us to solve. We did solve it and escaped-with about 1 minute left! We definitely recommend Break Through Reno, and are looking forward to our visit next year, when they will have even more rooms to escape from! read more

This was my first time visiting this puzzle/escape room, I had been to their sister property in downtown Reno. I did the high noon room and it was great. It was a little on the hard side (harder then the other ones I've done) but hunter helped us out and gave us all the help we wanted when we asked for it. The other employees were great, I believe it was Christian who checked us in and showed us around and Haley for taking our group photo at the end and made sure it was a good one. We are a family of 4 with 2 kids, ages 8 and 10, and we had such a great time! My kids are officially hooked to escape rooms after doing the room with the wands. This place is awesome! I have done all the rooms (Viper, Incoruptum, The Mask, and Betrayal at High Noon) All rooms were different and challenge different parts of your mind. There are puzzles in each room for every kind of mind so everyone in your group will have a chance to shine! One thing gives Break Through Reno a phenomenal review over a fantastic. I wanted to propose to my now fiance and Mitch took it upon himself to alter the room we were in to make it special toward just us. Our group of 6 signed up for the Ninja Protocol in the morning. Max was a great game master and explained everything really well. We loved the experience so much that we went back later that day to complete Betrayal at High Noon. Cassie was also a wonderful game master and this ended up being our favorite room. I have been to BTR 3 times now. BTR is definitely one of the more enjoyable escape room I have done. First one was The Mask. Since it was my VERY FIRST escape room ever, our team failed to escape. But after that, it got me hooked on escape rooms ever since! (This was back in 2015). Second visit was Betrayal at High Noon (back in 2016, I think). There were some hiccups that prevented us from escaping, but at least we each got a cool t-shirt for it. Third visit was last weekend and we did the Ninja Protocol. Being "veterans", our team managed to escape with 14 mins left. This one was pretty cool and I enjoy the concept; I recommend this for beginners. As an experienced player, I found this to be on the easier side but it was still fun nevertheless! Just want to give a quick shout-out to our gamemaster, Hunter and Christian, for being super awesome and super friendly! What do you do with a group of tweens for a birthday party? Lock them up for an hour!! Peace and quiet for the adults (though we played in a different room) and a challenge for the kids. This place doesn't "actually" do birthday parties but we came here for the fun and went out for pizza, cake and ice cream afterwards. The kids said that it was the best birthday party they had ever been to. It was challenging, encouraged team work and iPhones, iPods, etc weren't on their persons. We did "Betrayal at High Noon" this weekend and had an absolutely fabulous time! I have done a number of escape rooms, primarily in the Bay Area, and Break Through Reno is still one of the best rooms I have done. The puzzles were difficult but logical, and we were especially impressed by how physical they were. After all, if we just wanted to solve pen and paper puzzles, we could go do a puzzle hunt. :P The room was extremely well thought out and had innovative puzzles. The theme was strong and as benefits a Wild West setting, did not contain any electronic components! For those of us used to the "Magnetic Lock" school of escape rooms, this was extremely refreshing. We did 3 of their rooms between the two locations and had a great time! We did our first one at the Moana location and had some questions about our rooms at GSR and the employee working was really helpful in communicating with GSR to answer our questions. As a team We have done 75+ rooms and are very opinionated about escape rooms and have high expectations We did Apartment 13 At Moana and it was a great escape room, But we were blown away by our experience at their Grand Sierra Location. First of all the lobby of the escape room was themed as an old hotel which was SO COOL we haven't seen the lobby of an escape room be themed yet. I imagine because all of the rooms have different themes the lobby is usually neutral. Having this be in the hotel/casino and having the lobby have its own theme immediately throws you into another world/era so from the moment you walk through the door it's an experience! We did centurion heist which was a lot of fun but I think the crown jewel is their new room "The Sorcerer and the Fountain of Hope" It was unlike anything we had done yet and was SO well themed and put together. Every single clue and puzzle was it's own adventure and there were so many fun things we had never done before, even the way the whole thing was laid out was completely unique. In addition to solving the puzzles to ultimately escape there was also a fun aspect that keeps you on your toes and makes it a live game! Like I said as a team of 4 we have done 75+ escape rooms but as individuals we've all done closer to 100 and we all agreed this is our FAVORITE ROOM we have done to date We're from the Sacramento Area and have also done rooms at the Break Through Sac location and our experience there was less than stellar but both Reno locations were amazing. There's a couple rooms that are at both locations and I wish we would have done them all in Reno instead of sac. All of the employees in Reno had such good attitudes and were so professional and helpful. If you're staying at GSR and are thinking about doing a room DO IT, even if you can't get into the sorcerers room their other ones are great too. If you're not staying at GSR, it might feel more convenient to go to other escape rooms in Reno but I promise this location/business is worth any hassle navigating the parking/casino and sorcerers is a MUST DO escape room. We will absolutely be back when they open new rooms! read more

I have done 3 escape rooms of late, and this was my favorite!! We did the western theme room and It was extremely well thought out albeit tough. The room was perfectly decorated and intricate. The real quality that sets it apart is that the clues are subtle and not easy to decipher but the storyline flows and none of the clues were super far fetched. We did not finish, but we made it to the last step so we weren't too disappointed. I highly recommend, the only suggestion would be to bring 6 people (we had 4) it's really a lot going on and we were all running around like crazy people; a couple extra hands would have been well utilized. Pros: GREAT family activity or group activity, tough but not outrageous Cons: Maybe not the best room for a first timer, the learning curve was steep for the two beginners we brought. My dance teaching team went to the Grand Sierra Resort and had so much fun doing the Escape Room! We had the casino heist room (which was like a 3 roomed escape room) and had a blast! Laughed the whole time and we were only 2 small clues away from escaping. Our game host Luna was INCREDIBLE!! She laughed with us, helped us with really good hints and clues, and we just loved her. I had done one other escape room before this one was much more technically advanced, had more interactive pieces and wayyy more fun! Cant wait to go back and try another themed room and hopefully Luna will be there again!! read more

This place was great, we have done one of these "escape rooms" before and the two were vastly different so I wont compare them as that would be unfair to both. When you go into the building they check your name and how many people are with you ( you do need reservations) then sit you down in this small office like room and explain the rules and show you a short video about the room you chose. They then take you to the room and the games begin. I would suggest 4 people @ least but no more than 6. There are other rooms so maybe theyre bigger but I'd ask them they are honest and it is a fun time, assuming you pick the right people. read more

This was my second time at Break Through Reno. Both times have been beyond great experiences. The first time I went here, it was my first time in a puzzle room. The game master explained everything thoroughly and helped with clues. Unfortunately we did not get out of The Mask that time. The second time I went, we did the Vipers Nest. It is a casino themed room; really fun and really realistic. The game master was extremely personable, funny, and helpful. Unfortunately we did not escape this room either, but we were extremely close. Both of the rooms that I have done were challenging yet doable and extremely fun. I definitely recommend this as a team building activity and with a large group of people as it would be extremely hard with only 2 or 3. read more

So we had a birthday party for my 13-year-old son at Break Through Reno on Sunday. I'm going to review this in two parts, as Break Through partners with Rounds on the "party" part of the party, so I'll review Break Through here, and the Rounds experience on their listing. But, in short, don't pay for anything other than the Break Through game itself- the party part is a big disappointment. We were greeted at the door by Max, who made sure we all had our waivers signed, and took the six kids back to get prepped for VIPERs Nest. We asked if there was a way for us to watch, and the crew let us back into the prep room to watch until the next team needed to use it. The staff was all very polite and friendly, and our kids had a great time trying to escape. The only disappointment with Break Through was that we couldn't watch the whole experience, as the briefing room needed to be used for the next escape team. I'd love to see a viewing gallery set up where we could watch and enjoy the experience. After the game was over, we headed to Rounds for the next part of our party, for which we paid $115 extra. Last night was my first time doing an escape room. It was so much fun!! The room we chose was apartment 13 and we didn't not do the extended version. There was 4 of us. I feel like this room could have easily been done with 2 people. They recommended for first timers. Over all the set up was really well done! Kept us on our toes and challenged us just the right amount. The staff there was really friendly. I can't remember our game masters name unfortunately but she was super awesome!! Had a great experience at Break Through Reno. We tried out the Betrayal at High Noon which I thought was an awesome room. Before we entered the room they took us to a waiting area where they showed a background video. I thought it was also fun that they split us up into different cells and we had to work to break out of them. Very unique and a fun idea. We found all the hints/clues were very logical, and we had a great time working out way through the puzzles. Afterwards they take pictures in front of a green screen and add a fun background, which made for a fun photo. It did take them several weeks to post the photos, but we were happy to have them when we did. I definitely plan on visiting this location again to try out the other rooms! read more

This place was awesome! Booking online was easy and Our Game Master Hunter( I think that was his name) was super cool. Very enthusiastic and great customer service. We had experienced players and players that had never even heard of an escape room (4 total 18-40ys old). We had the pleasure of experiencing "Viper's Nest". It was very well set up with props and the puzzles and mystery of the room was great. Always a surprise around the corner. We ESCAPED with 47sec left! The interaction during the game involving the Game Master was a great experience as well. We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend. read more

I've been here 3 times and love it! Each room is unique and fun. The clues are actually rather creative and challenging and makes for a great time for team bonding or just having fun! I've done the VIPERS nest, the ninja, and the Betrayal at High Noon. I've been super impressed with how the clues piece together and the staff (we recently had Tom) are all enthusiastic about making it an enjoyable experience!
