So far The One! I've gone to some bars but this One takes the whole pizza! It's the best until today. This bar has a country atmosphere on the so-called new town in the heart of Goleta. This place is packed with 6 Pool tables, big plasma Tv's right by the barrel chair so you can enjoy your favorite game and of course with a big glass of your favorite beer. By the way, sorry to say and with all due respect to other fellow bars..... These are the best beer prices in town ($5.00 per glass) And whoever thinks otherwise please check it out and let me know what you think of "Break Time" By the way..... it's pet friendly, and unfortunately no under 21 allowed.

You know you are a dive bar when...

Several years ago I started a review of Break Time. For some reason I never finished it and Yelp has been asking me daily if I want to finish my review which has been saved as a draft. I guess I was at a loss for what to say. Yesterday I was back at BT once again to watch a favorite football team lose a big game. That aside it was a good time. The bartenders are the best and the crowd was great. Once I wrote a review of the Double Down Saloon in Las Vegas, certainly the best and most diviest dive bar I have ever experienced. While Break Time doesn't come close to the DD it certainly qualifies. I came up with my own definition of a dive bar and I will toss it into this review as well: 1) it is the place itself.  You cannot "create" a dive bar look, a bar has to regress into that look.  When asked to define a dive bar look it is a lot like defining pornography... hard to put it to words but "You know it when you see it"  Break Time looks like a dive bar! 2) It has to be off the beaten path and not glorify its "dive bar" roots.  In fact it almost has to be in denial that it even is a dive bar.   3) It has to be cheap.   It can't be charging $6.50 for a PBR or heaven forbid pull out a blender or buy a plant.  Not this place.    The drinks are honest and inexpensive. So if you want to grab a beer or a Vodka soda or even a Mai Tai go to Break Time, just don't complain because they don't put basil in your drink.

    Billiards tables.

This is a great bar and there's just no way around that. The drinks are tough, the vibes are immaculate, the bartenders have teeth and the regulars are absolutely bananas. I love it here. It's probably the only bar you can roll into by yourself as a woman and feel comfortable. As if things couldn't get any better, there's a treasure of a human in there who spins vinyl on Friday nights (maybe Saturdays also, but don't quote me) and you really shouldn't miss that experience. Thank you Imperial and staff for your phenomenal service. You've truly cultivated something wonderful.

What an amazing hidden gem in Goleta!…read more While visiting the town, we were looking for a lounge walking distance from our hotel. We found this cool spot via yelp. A for atmosphere. You are transformed into a tiki/tropical/ vintage/bohemian not sure what to call it atmosphere. Super mellow and chill. We sat at a corner couch across from the bar. Comfy and relaxing, and dim lighting. Drink menu was diverse. Great selection. From cocktails to all types of alcohol. With an average price range of $15. Bartender knew his craft. All drinks ordered were great! C for service. The service dept needs some help, and I get it, with one person serving 15+ people. It is impossible to provide a5 star service. Initially service was great with a smile when we first arrived @ 6 pm. But soon after the bar became super busy. The wait was 20-30 minutes for an order. It was time to leave. We asked for our check and it came non-itemized. If it was 2 or 4 drinks that would be fine, but we were party of 3 with over 10 drinks. Then we had to wait again after asking for an itemized check. Waiter stated they need to hand write as their "machine" was not working. That took more time than needed. Ahhhhhh.... Ah well.. you can't get it all. Hence the 3.5 stars. I recommend, to sit at the bar and maybe pay cash to avoid hurdles I experienced.

My friends and I were sitting in a booth near the karaoke stage when my purse and white sweater accidentally slipped into the gap between the booth and the wall. Apparently, this gap contains part of the karaoke power setup, because the karaoke briefly stopped working when my belongings fell into it. If that area is truly that critical, it seems like a serious oversight that it is left completely uncovered and accessible to customers. The way the situation was handled was completely unacceptable. The karaoke DJ, Eric, came over to retrieve my belongings. Instead of simply placing them back on the booth seat or handing them to me, he threw my purse and sweater onto the floor while yelling at me and my friends. As a result, a bottle of perfume inside my purse shattered, my belongings were scattered, my purse was damaged, and my white sweater was dirtied. What bothered me most was not the accident itself, but the level of hostility and aggression directed toward me over something that was clearly unintentional. At no point was there any attempt to calmly explain the issue or address the situation respectfully. Instead, I was publicly embarrassed and treated as though I had done something wrong rather than accidentally dropping belongings into an exposed gap in the seating area. I was genuinely shaken by the interaction. In all my years of going to bars, restaurants, concerts, and other public venues, I have never had an employee throw my personal belongings on the ground while yelling at me. The response from management was equally disappointing. When two of my friends approached management to express concern about what had happened, they were threatened with being removed from the bar rather than having their concerns taken seriously. I understand that technical issues can be frustrating and that mistakes happen. What I do not understand is why a customer was subjected to that kind of treatment over an accidental incident that could have been handled with a simple conversation. The entire experience was humiliating, unnecessary, and completely avoidable. I hope management takes a serious look at both the exposed setup near the karaoke stage and the conduct of the staff involved, because no customer should be treated this way. If anyone from Whiskey Richard's would be willing to contact me further, I'd genuinely appreciate it.

Though always skeptical of such consensus, unconsciously I bought into this for years. One day, a favorite bartender from another establishment wound up here. I started popping in early, more than a little wary, cautious to plan for an early departure. But slowly I got to know the other staff. The absolute nicest bunch of people in Santa Barbara. People I never went out of my way to befriend, who picked me out as a regular, showed me respect I never asked for, treated me with the utmost kindness even though I never did much to deserve it. Wildcat has become a place where I'm comfortable walking in, even on a busy Friday or Saturday night; and know I'll be valued, respected, and protected, even by people I barely know. And also served the absolute coldest draft beer in the city except for Lure which closes at 10. This sounds like an ad but I swear it's the damn truth. Be prepared to wait in line. The line is part of the fun. These are your fellow patrons, after all. Your friends and neighbors. Enjoy it while it lasts.

As I was walking out, the woman at the door literally GRABBED my drink out of my hand. Ma'am... you can use your words. You can simply say, "You can't leave with your drink." There is absolutely no reason to grab someone or their drink. When I said, "Oh, really?" she responded with an incredibly rude "YES, REALLY." The attitude was completely unnecessary. I'm from Vegas, and walking around with your drink is extremely common in certain areas, so I genuinely wasn't aware of their policy. Maybe instead of acting like everyone should automatically know every bar's rules, a little basic communication would help. Overall: cheap-looking, weirdly childish atmosphere, ridiculous 2000s music, and an unnecessarily rude door experience. If you're looking for a very young, chaotic club with questionable music and a door staff member ready to confiscate your cocktail like it's evidence at a crime scene, have fun. After our beach walk we were looking for some drinks and an early meal to keep the beautiful day going. We ordered the full rack of ribs and tri tip French dip to accompany hubby's cold beers and my tall pomegranate spritz. Both meals were so flavorful and the ribs were so tender they fell off the ribs. My tri tip with au jus was also well seasoned and prepared. For our sides, we had salads which were equally fresh & well dressed and hubby enjoyed the crispy and cheat-worthy onion rings.
