a man at a bar with a glass of beer

Endearing little neighborhood watering hole. This is a spot I've driven by several times and have always been intrigued over. From the front, it looks like an old school neighborhood-style bar - and that's exactly what it is behind the door. When I was here last night, my eyes were immediately drawn to the fun Christmas decor. There were lights, stockings, and a tree. There's a long bar, a front and back patio, a juke box and a pool table. The place is dark and divey which I loved. I also noticed that there was a Monday-Friday happy hour which went to 7pm. It's rare to see a happy hour end as late as The Tully's, let alone on a Friday, so I fully took advantage of the perk. Our bartender was very friendly and helped us with menu selections. I took advantage of ordering a $5 happy hour draught beer and enjoyed it on the front parklet patio. The music is pretty loud in the bar so the outdoor space was a nice place of solace. This is a great spot with good service, and I will be back soon for sure.

Great spot to watch football. There isn't a kitchen so you can bring in your own food, and it has a fun community vibe.

The cocktails are highly creative, diverse in flavor and design, and really could stand up to any you would find at a top cocktail bar in a major city. The exterior doesn't scream "must come in" but you absolutely should. Is it a tiki bar? Yes, but in the best way. And the bartender deserves applause for pulling off 3+ quite complex cocktails every 5 minutes off of memory and without any support.

Test Pilot lands somewhere in the orbit of tiki without fully crash-landing on a bamboo runway, and…read morehonestly, that works in its favor. In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

I did put some creamed horseradish on a couple of bites. My wife had the 3 chile samplers. Stage Coach, 3 game chile, and the chlle verde. All excellent. I upgraded my side to the 3 game chile. It cost a bit more, but worth it. Afterwards, check out the place and the surrounding forest area.

Just outside the restaurant, you can see them smoking the tri-tip which added to the experience and to the craving of the sandwich. First, the nachos were pretty good, they were heavy handed on the chips and filling and made for an enjoyable eating experience and the flavors of it were pretty good as well. Now to the the tri-tip sandwich, we loved the sandwich as the meat was really tender to the point that the sandwich doesn't disassemble when you bite into it. The flavor of the meat itself really good and I would definitely come back just for the sandwich alone Service/Ambiance We had arrived right around opening time and the place was already starting to get packed. Parking is just along the road so take note of that and it was really full by the time we were leaving. For our party of two, we got seated pretty much right away inside the restaurant. The vibe of the place was really nice as it had that old style homey feel and being surrounded by nature added to the nice ambiance. The staff were nice and service of the food was relatively quick as well, overall a really great experience

Service was phenomenal! Everyone was extra attentive and went above and beyond to make sure my family was comfortable, including the baby! Fried chicken with the grits was excellent!! Orecchiette and lettuce salad were also really good. I would say the crudo (salmon) and fisherman's catch (bluefin tuna) were forgettable. Cornbread and shrimp toast are worth getting to try- good but not great. Come for date night or family dinner, but make a reservation for the weekends!

The salad was HUGE, definitely meant to share although I ended up cleaning it up. I really like the concept of hyper-local where even the fisherman gets a shoutout by name on the menu, but I think the presentation and execution fell flat. I'm not sure if a larger group or different menu items would have landed differently but my fish ended up a bit rubbery and overcooked. The other dishes were very underwhelming, and it was really tough to get the attention of my server. When it came time to pay, they offered me a pen which didn't work, then when I asked for another one, it didn't work, and finally I asked a bus boy who gave me 5 pens which 4/5 didn't work. I felt so awkward having to do so much to get anyone's attention, and then to be offered a total of 6 non functioning pens and one barely functional one.
