First time trying this restaurant. Overall, my favorite thing was the ambiance of their outdoor seating since it's very close to sausalito beach. The steak nachos was really good, but I didn't like the fish tacos since the tacos and fish ended up being soggy because of the pickled veggies that they added. It's a self service restaurant, you order and pay before picking up your food. No servers. Parking can be very limited depending on the weather since the beach is closeby.

Unless you were unprepared for Stinson beach day and it was a last resort, I would stay clear away from this spot. This is an Expensive eatery for a place where you serve yourself. The food was good yes but is about 3x you would pay anywhere else. The ambiance is open seating like a brewery and the view is not beach but neighborhood town road or patio wall. I had the crab bisque, $14 for a pint size with yummy garlic bread (but no crab chunks) and $9 can of suderks beer (being from Davis, I use to get these drafts for $1-3)! I wondered if the tip had to be included already in price. Anyways avoid to save your wallet. Just pack a BYOE (everything) of affordable food and picnic on the beach.

Its our first time in the area. After our hiking from Alamere Falls, we were hungry and tired. This is the first restaurant we found on our way home. It was freezing outside and there's limited fireplace so we went inside. We ordered steak taco and hamburger. They were so great! The burger is not dry and cooked perfectly and the steak taco is a lot. It tasted very good. Well prepared. The service is great too. The server brought utensils, napkins and catsup. We are definitely going back to get some beers.

Best shrimp taco of my life. Great location after a big hike. Had a nice glass of wine with it. Great service too.

This is our go-to eatery when we are at Stinson, mainly because of their dog friendly patio. As a couple, we have collectively had 4 or 5 different menu items total and they've all been pretty good. I wouldn't say the food is spectacular but it's tasty enough. I do feel it is slightly overpriced at $18-30/entree but I guess that's the price for an outing to Stinson. Like another reviewer said, it's more about the ambiance and proximity to the beach than it is about the food. Overall, decent eats, lots of tables on the patio, and dog-friendly. Oh! And there are bathrooms available for customers.

    NASHVILLE CHICKEN SANDWICH

The outdoor space is really nice, and the location is great--walking distance to the beach. We got the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and were pretty disappointed. Given the name, we were expecting typical Nashville cayenne sauce/seasoning, but the chicken itself had a sweet sauce with it instead. On top of this, the sandwiches were lukewarm. For nearly $20 each, we expected them to be hot and fresh. The food was fine, but quite expensive for what it is, which is probably attributed to the location.

Very mediocre food for an expensive price. Burger was dry. I actually quite enjoyed the fries, they were very crispy, but I wish there were bottles of ketchup instead of just packets. Overall experience left me wanting more, especially considering the price.

overall B+: great North Bay Stinson beach side restaurant/patio. The food and service and prices solid, vibe of the place outstanding. Halibut sammy, fresh poke salad. Just beware of local bird droppings before sitting outside. Drive from the highway was super beautiful and fun, especially in a boxter sports car.

We stopped by before our journey to Mendocino. It's a small but cute area. You order outside at the bar and the outdoor patio is pretty big and dog friendly. Bathrooms for customers too and a place to fill up water. It is kind of pricy at $25 for 2 shrimp tacos. Shrimp taco was pretty good. But it's about the vicinity to the beach and location I guess. I'm sure at night it looks even more fun.

The Drinks were good. Not much else was though. This does seem like a nice chill spot to hang out though. I was really excited to try this place but the food was just a bit lacking for me. My crab sandwich had the flavor but it was really missing the main ingredient: the crab. That's the one thing that really bugs me when I go somewhere and I see Crab Cakes on the menu. You definitely gotta have a good amount because the customer is already paying extra for that tiny luxury. On top of that we ordered Clam Chowder and it was just ok. Definitely could of used some more salt if anything but at least there was there was good enough fixings in that. I'm not sure if I would try them again since I struck out with two items. But at least the fries and booze were good.

    Gabriel S.

This place is clearly a tourist trap but at least the food isn't bad.  Crab melt was decent. There was quite a bit of crab. The fries were decent. Salmon tacos were so so. There was quite a lot of salmon but the tacos didn't taste lively even with the squeeze of lime. The flavour profile of both dishes was muted, but the tacos felt the lack more.

Stopped by for dinner after a hike/exploring Stinson Beach! Our expectations were low, considering the mixed reviews, but we had a good experience. We grabbed a table on the patio, and were delighted to find it was well heated. The ambiance on the patio was pleasant - string lights, dogs, happy people, etc. We went up to order at the bar and I got the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and an Arnold Palmer. You also pay at the counter and wait until your number is called to pick up your food. Service was quick and we didn't wait long for our orders to be ready. The portion sizes were quite large, which was perfect because we were starving. It was far from the best Nashville Chicken Sandwich of my life, but the chicken was juicy and the fries on the side were delicious. I will say, it could've used more sauce - not hot at all. My friends got the Ahi Tuna Poke Salad and Fish & Chips, which were both tasty. We also got a side order of the Housemade Guacamole & Chips, which was delightful - definitely made fresh. Overall, the food wasn't mind blowing, but we left full and happy!

I had a cheeseburger and lemonade. The lemonade was excellent! The burger was pretty good and came with fries. We ate on their patio. Overall, a great meal for a day at the beach. Only downfall was that the prices were quite steep.

The leg was tender with crispy skin and the breast was wonderfully juicy, without being too rare. the fig compote on top was very earthy and not too sweet. I even liked the roasted carrots, and I rarely like cooked carrots. Unlike the dictionary definition of "madcap" -- wildly impulsive or chaotic -- the exquisite dining experience at this Michelin-starred restaurant is anything but. My experience was calm, intentional, playful, and deeply refined. After living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2005, I had just learned about Madcap and was thrilled to celebrate a friend's birthday there. From the moment we were greeted by Kim at the host stand -- warm, poised, and genuinely welcoming -- we felt special. Anticipation built immediately. Our four-course prix fixe menu was printed on artisanal, handmade-feeling paper -- textured, elegant, and thoughtful. With a minimalist design aesthetic, every detail serves a purpose and is beautiful in its restraint. The luxury here is subtle but palpable. Large, colorful, whimsical paintings line the walls -- one even reminded me of Jane Fonda as Barbarella. The chopsticks and flatware are distinctive and sculptural. Nothing feels accidental or unintentional. From a 15-page beverage menu, I selected a 2023 Raventós i Blanc Blanc de Blancs Cava from Conca del Riu Anoia, Catalunya. Crisp, celebratory, and the perfect opening note. If you might assume "small courses" won't satisfy, think again. I left completely full. Welcome Snacks Before the first official course, we were surprised with a small welcoming assortment. I couldn't name each component, but they were colorful, beautifully balanced, and layered in flavor and texture -- playful yet precise. A lovely crescendo into what followed. First Course Nicasio Valley egg, lemongrass spuma, pine nuts. We chose to add the optional Black Périgord truffle. When pierced with my spoon, the bright yellow yolk blended like a brushstroke into the white of the egg. The spuma (an airy, savory foam created by aerating a sauce) added a delicate citrus-herbal lift to the richness of the egg. The pine nuts brought delightful contrast texture. Oh, and that exquisite toast! Elegant and harmonious. The delicately-shaved truffle provided a heavenly mouth-feel. Second Course Winter salad, shima aji, orange olive oil or Sunchoke tortelloni, spinach, shiitake, thyme jus One companion chose the vibrant winter salad -- stunning in color and textures including shima aji, a premium Japanese fish. I chose the sunchoke tortelloni. Although I'm usually not a fan of al dente pasta, here it worked beautifully to contrast the creamy filling. The green-tinged spinach tortelloni were visually striking and balanced by the earthy shiitake and fragrant thyme jus. Third Course Mount Lassen trout, abalone & carrot risotto, lobster cream or Flannery beef ribeye, artichoke, Banyuls, black garlic We all chose the trout. The fish was executed perfectly -- caramelized, crisp exterior, yet it flaked effortlessly into large, tender pieces with the fork. The carrot risotto leaned slightly sweet for my palate, though beautifully textured. The tiny slivers of abalone, however, were surprisingly overcooked and chewy. The lobster cream had a thinner, almost broth-like consistency and didn't meaningfully elevate the dish. For reference, Banyuls (used in the ribeye preparation) is a French fortified wine like port from the Roussillon region that creates deep, slightly sweet reductions that complement richer meats. Fourth Course Shiso panna cotta, pineapple vanilla gelée. The panna cotta was softly set, cool, and subtly sweet -- a lovely, light finish. The Japanese mint herb of shiso was subtle. The crumble beneath added wonderful contrast and texture. A small piece of pineapple was firmer than expected, though the overall composition remained balanced and refreshing. With it, I had a decaf Americano. It was so smooth and flavorful I drank it black -- and enjoyed every sip. Post-dessert course We were pleasantly surprised with a pearlized white box of what appeared to be handmade confections: caramel, a sugar-dusted berry gelée, and a ganache-filled chocolate truffle. The unexpected welcome bites and post-dessert confections made the four-course prix fixe feel even more generous and thoughtfully orchestrated. Madcap is an experience of delightful visual artistry and intentional composition. The overall execution, ambiance, and hospitality created a memorable evening. P.S. While I typically eat gluten- and dairy-free, making those substitutions would have fundamentally changed the menu. For this celebratory evening, I chose not to alter the chef's composition. We visited on 2/26/26.
