Probably one of my favorite breakfast spots to go to in Marin. This is a gem of a spot that's not touristy and has amazing service. The couple who run it truly stand out for excellence. Came in on a quiet Friday morning and the service was the star - attentive, friendly. They were attentive in that easy, unhurried way that breakfast spots rarely manage anymore. The restaurant is clean, bright, and welcoming, with just a soft hint of bacon lingering in the air. Our food arrived fast and served piping hot - the biggest win for this morning meal. I had pancakes (a two-stack, fluffy and classic) with a side of crispy bacon, paired with a Lappert's café mocha. He ordered eggs over easy, fried potatoes, an English muffin, and his own mocha. Simple plates. Our eyes definitely widened when the bill landed - almost $70 with tip for a straightforward breakfast. Sausalito pricing is its own ecosystem, but still, it caught us off guard. We chose this spot because of the strong Yelp rating, and while the service and ambience delivered beautifully, the food could use just a little more personality... and maybe a pinch more salt. read more

I'd have to say that Anchorage 5 is my favorite place for breakfast in Sausalito. There's no shortage of good eateries here, but the combination of the food, the vibe, and the people who work here keep me coming back. Lots of nice dishes here - good looking omelettes & scrambles, and all the stuff you'd expect on a breakfast menu, but I keep getting drawn back to the Huevos Montana (con chorizo) which I have become addicted to. I'm a Sausalito resident for over 30 years. That adds up to a lot of breakfasts. Ive always enjoyed the ones I've had here. In fact I'm here right now and wondering why the place isn't more crowded. We just finished backpacking and my boyfriend and I really wanted a good breakfast. We ran across Anchorage 5, and the staff was SO FRIENDLY and SO SWEET. It was such a great environment to be around after a long two days. There wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant, so our food came out fast. For breakfast, nothing was like spectacular since it was just typically American breakfast. I would've preferred our hashbrowns more crispy but that's a personal preference. My latte was also ok, I still needed something stronger along the way. The place was clean, the decorations truly fit the theme of "anchorage" so my boyfriend and I really liked that feature. If you need to use the restroom, know that you'll have to go out the back and use a restroom that isn't attached to the actual restaurant, I think they share we other places. The look of this place makes me think half diner half sailor's mess hall haha. They serve standard food, but standard food done really well. I had Joe's Special (an omelette with ground beef, mushrooms, fresh spinach, and onions) along with roasted potatoes and a cup of coffee. Had brunch here before we headed to downtown Sausalito and it was so delicious! I ordered a cheese omelette with 1 pancake and fresh fruit, all for $14.95 before tax. The cheese omelette was very filling, the pancake was fluffy and the butter went well with it. I also loved that there was fresh fruit to make it all taste just a bit healthier--there were strawberries, bananas, watermelon, and honeydew. The service was nice and efficient, despite the fact that we went during quite a busy brunch hour on a Saturday. The ambiance was great--nice decor to make the whole place feel cozy. Steadfast, consistently GREAT breakfast lovingly prepared and served by very nice people. They use top quality ingredients and the food is always hot, excellent, and arrives quickly. The family that owns the place takes immense pride in everything they do. The dining room and kitchen are always spotlessly clean. The ambience is very chill vibe, cozy with comfy seating, a nautical feel almost like you're on a boat, and soft calming classical music. They also have a dog friendly patio. We often get take out orders and they do a great job and use minimal eco minded packaging. Our favorites include the Cajun breakfast sausage and the Butterfly Benedict which is made with nicely browned chicken Apple sausage. Their hash browns are hands down the best in Marin. They also serve a great burger and fries. Everything I've ever gotten has been very good. Great for dates and all types of families. A favorite Mom and Pop restaurant! Hidden away on Gate 5 Road in Sausalito. Locals walk there easily from nearby Molly Stone's Market to have a cozy breakfast with a large choice of omelettes, fluffy pancakes, and sandwiches. The Mexican dishes are especially good! Came here on the Friday after Thanksgiving with a large group. The restaurant is very diner-esque. The waiters were attentive without being over bearing. The food came quick, which was nice when toddler and baby are present. The in-laws were delighted by their lattes and cappuccinos (which were in true diner fashion, basically not your fancy lattes with latte art). The starter chip with guac was well received - the chips were hot! We liked our chicken salad sandwich and turkey sandwich. They tasted very fresh. Would have given 5 stars except they charged a mandatory 25% tip for large group. I thought the standard was 18%! Also charge extra for card, so we paid cash. read more

After a great hike in Muir Woods, we hit up Yelp to find some good breakfast food. Anchorage 5 is off the beaten path, which I like, and parking was easy peasy. There were a few lunch patrons there, but it wasn't packed. Service was efficient and no-nonsense. My hubby had a veggie quesadilla and I went with eggs with smoked salmon and capers, hash browns, and a pancake. (I asked if they had by any chance Gluten Free bread or pancakes and they said no, so I gave that to my hubby for "dessert". The eggs and hash browns were pretty substantial, and even without the pancakes it came with, I was very full. The eggs had a lot of salmon, it was really delicious. We happened to find this place right near the water in Sausalito this morning when we were trying to make our way back to San Francisco. It seemed like kind of an odd spot for a restaurant because it seemed hidden amongst other industrial-like businesses. The place inside had a cool vibe because it looked like the inside of a ship: all wooden floors and walls, and typical nautical photos. It even had a cute diner type of counter top bar. The breakfast that we had this morning was quite good, but expensive for being in a 'back alley' part of town. We didn't complain about the bill because we had the whole place to ourselves for a majority of the time we were there and our server, Regina, was very nice, warm and friendly. read more

We recently had the opportunity to have lunch at the Anchorage 5. We had just come off of a boat after scattering the ashes of an old friend. We had a reservation in place for a group which grew in size to 16 people. I cannot say enough good things about the restaurant and its Manager Regina. She was wonderful to deal with and went out or her way to accommodate us before, during and after lunch. They provided us with excellent food and service, while allowing our large group to pay separately, thereby making their job more difficult in the process. I had requested outdoor seating. It turned out to be an overcast day with the chance of a shower. They went through the trouble before we arrived of moving all of our tables into covered areas just in case it rained. All in all, I could not have been happier with my choice to go to Anchorage 5. It was the kind of experience that you rarely receive at a restaurant these days. read more

The corned beef Benny was probably the best I've had. Corned beef is locally prepared and again, huge portion! The shrimp quesadilla was an other star dish! I love this little diner, tucked away in Sausalito. It's got a good blend of classic "American breakfast" dishes, but they also have a nice selection of Mexican breakfast items. I know I enjoy coming here because there are certain occasions where I just crave Anchorage 5, even though we have other diners closer to where we live. Despite having a teeny tiny parking lot, I have rarely ever had trouble finding parking close to the restaurant. When you walk in, the hostess is usually quite friendly, and we get seated relatively quickly. There is quite a selection of food available, but we have only come for (and eaten) breakfast. The booths are old-fashioned, and there are a few tables, so if you have a large group, it could be challenging. Anyway, I occasionally enjoy the Huevos Montana and the Huevos Rancheros, though I usually order an omelette if I am super hungry. The omelettes are really big and come with potatoes, toast, or 1 pancake (super filling). I like the Popeye, Roma, and Mexican omelettes best. The staff is pretty friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, my order has been wrong more times than not, and it takes awhile for the food to come out, but hopefully, I'll reach that status where they know me and what I like to eat someday! read more
