It's the only sit down restaurant in the small beachside town and on the expensive side. Some items were reasonably priced but some like Fish Tacos for $32 seemed ridiculously expensive. We had the raw & baked Hog Island oysters ( 3 each for $28) and the Clams & mussels in a white wine garlic broth with garlic toast ($26). The oysters were fresh and tasty. The mussels were not cleaned properly and as such had the typical zoo like odor about them. However the clams were very good and the broth was slurp to the last drop delicious. Excellent service. It's a pretty big restaurant with outside and inside seatings. Outside, you have the option of sitting in the sun or under an umbrella. They also have a walk up window that has to go foods like pizza, burgers and sandwiches at a lower price point. There's a charming little park across the street with benches where you can eat the food and enjoy the day. There's limited parking in front and they were filled when we arrived on a Thursday at about 1 pm. But we found street parking just a few minutes walking away. Happy Eating!!

They have two separate windows. One is for ordering coffee and pastries. The other one is for food and ice cream. Got a ham egg croissant, which cost nine dollars including tax. This price was pretty outrageous. Also got a milkshake which less than the croissant. Service is curt. You pay for the convenience and location near the beach

On our visit to Muir Woods National Monuments, we decided to visit Stinson Beach before going home since we've already visited the Muir Beach last time. After the hike at Muir Woods, we were hungry and there's no restaurant near the beach that's opened, there's only this restaurant next to the beach parking lot, so we went in to try it out even though the prices seem a little high but we expected this establishment costs each seat $15 just for a chair. The servers were quite attentive and pleasant. Every table has a little fan to chase away the flies which is quite effective. The menu has quite many dishes for lunch. My wife wanted to be safe to order the Burger and Fries, I always love fish and chips so I ordered that, which later my wife told me that I should order the fish taco. Anyhow, I don't think it matters what we order, the food here isn't meant to be special. The Burger is actually tasteless, no salt, no sauce, no flavor, In-n-Out would taste much better without anything. We share both of our dishes. This is the first time I have to eat burger with ketchup because it's so tasteless. The fish is crispy and moist but also tasteless, the batter has no flavor, the fish has no flavor, without the tartar sauce it's uneatable. Yes, the portions are big, the french fries could be better. Anyhow, we have to try all the restaurants, so at least we know, we should drive 8 miles the other way to In-n-Out for lunch which we would be much happier and less money. While eating the burger, I kept wishing having a five guys burger because I've never had any burger like this.

We visited Parkside an hour or so before the dinner rush and were seated inside by the fireplace. In chilly January, this was an unexpected plus! Because we'd just hiked 8 and a half miles in 2 and a half hours with nothing but a bagel as fuel, our appetite drove us to order a ton of food. I joked about this a bit with Ronni, our server, who was exceptionally warm and funny and didn't judge us one bit! We had the avocado pasta (mushroomy and delicious), crab cake (crispy and fun), homemade bread (soft and warm and served with a really nice pesto), filet mignon (decent), a Lodi Zin (Central Valley represent), and bread pudding (holy shit) for dessert. Service was very good throughout the meal, from the personable Ronni to everyone working hard to prepare our food and bus the table. The bathroom situation was a little weird as other Yelpers have noted (the queue starts outside since this location has additional external counter service options), but I think it's profoundly unfair for Parkside to have such a low cumulative review because of facility constraints. The staff does an amazing job flexing between casual, brunch, and dinner food, and bathroom procedure should not be a defining characteristic of an otherwise splendid restaurant.

Came here while waiting for my sister's 30k race to finish up! I got the Parkside and added bacon which was the obvious choice! Their peach spread was beyond amazing and I would definitely buy a jar of it! Overall solid breakfast spot for a chilly fall morning! We also got the steak & eggs which was really good! The only issue we ran into was the mimosa one of us had wasn't that great - seemed to taste kind of odd

A place NOT to park and go to bad customer service.

We came around 7:30PM and bought some pizza. They let us know that it's served cold... Should have been a sign to skip it. We than went to use the picnic table that were open and not being used. They had many tables open but told use we could not use them because we order food from them to go. Not worth the visit. Parking spots are limited. Bad customer service.

I didn't realize that hush puppies were the missing food from my diet I never knew I would be craving. Love at first bite. Oh, the maple butter. It made me wiggle in my seat. It was delectable. It was a blind shot on a list of many attractive sounding appetizers and I hit the bullseye. Tried two wines. Both were excellent. Kale salad was perfectly seasoned and helped balance the hush puppies... sort of. The food here is great. I saw like 7 fried chickens being prepped and ready to deliver and I'm a vegetarian but they looked so good I temporarily questioned my convictions. If you go as a large group, expect a wait. I think it's a great spot for a date.

Best brunch spot on the Stinson beach. I sometimes have brunch here when I hike the Dipsea trail on the way back. Friendly staff and breakfast is very fresh and their croissants and baked items are fresh and I kept going back to place. The eggs Benedict and savory soufflé with veggies is great option.

Cafe right at Stinson Beach. Came here in the middle of a day hike before trekking back to Mill Valley. They serve a number of familiar classics expected at a typical beachside sit-down. I got the fish and chips. The fish was coated and fried nicely in a beer batter, and the fries were average but nothing spectacular. Overall I deem it just OK. Overall, I think the food is not bad. It's not the greatest or most unique food by any stretch of the imagination. I think the price is inflated because of the location (it's definitely riding on the upper cusp of 2 $ signs).

    Chopped Salad without Salami
    Matt J.

Parkside isn't gonna blow you away, but as the only game in town, it holds its own. I'm grateful for their flexibility, as they prepared my chopped salad without salami (all salads but the most generic mixed greens have meat). It's hard to go wrong with a healthy dose of Gruyère, but the overall dish wasn't super noteworthy. On a chilly NorCal beach day without other restaurants open, it's the right place to be, but the food itself is middling. I wouldn't go far out of my way for Parkside, but it does the trick post-hike or as a midday escape from the elements.

Wow, What a great find on a warm Saturday morning. My wife and I after a 5.2 mile hike on Mt. Tam, made our way down to Stinson Beach and were pleasantly surprised to find Parkside Cafe for breakfast. I ordered the Hash, and my wife ordered the Egg Croissant. The hash was artisanal and created by a chef who really cares about food as art. Potatoes, chicken, roasted vegetable's with two over easy eggs on top. My wifes Egg Croissant was light a flaky, and beautifully prepared. Atmosphere was beautiful and service was outstanding. What a pleasant surprise!!

What I didn't realize at the time was the sheer pedigree behind it. It turns out Madcap is Michelin-rated, and Chef Ron Siegel is a celebrity chef. A Top Chef alum who headlined at legendary spots like The French Laundry and Michael Mina. Ironically, I didn't learn any of this from a food blog or Yelp. I heard it from my dentist in Vallejo. Talk about a random convo! As for the food, Chef Siegel's creations are pure joy--a celebration of culinary genius that feels genuinely divine. It's the kind of meal that evokes deep emotion; it really is magical. I can honestly say it's the best restaurant in Marin, Point Reyes included. We paired our meal with a beautiful bottle of sake by Pharrell Williams (yes, you read that right), and to top off an already incredible evening, we got to meet Chef Siegel and take a group photo with him. Unlike the dictionary definition of "madcap" -- wildly impulsive or chaotic -- the exquisite dining experience at this Michelin-starred restaurant is anything but. My experience was calm, intentional, playful, and deeply refined. After living in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2005, I had just learned about Madcap and was thrilled to celebrate a friend's birthday there. From the moment we were greeted by Kim at the host stand -- warm, poised, and genuinely welcoming -- we felt special. Anticipation built immediately. Our four-course prix fixe menu was printed on artisanal, handmade-feeling paper -- textured, elegant, and thoughtful. With a minimalist design aesthetic, every detail serves a purpose and is beautiful in its restraint. The luxury here is subtle but palpable. Large, colorful, whimsical paintings line the walls -- one even reminded me of Jane Fonda as Barbarella. The chopsticks and flatware are distinctive and sculptural. Nothing feels accidental or unintentional. From a 15-page beverage menu, I selected a 2023 Raventós i Blanc Blanc de Blancs Cava from Conca del Riu Anoia, Catalunya. Crisp, celebratory, and the perfect opening note. If you might assume "small courses" won't satisfy, think again. I left completely full. Welcome Snacks Before the first official course, we were surprised with a small welcoming assortment. I couldn't name each component, but they were colorful, beautifully balanced, and layered in flavor and texture -- playful yet precise. A lovely crescendo into what followed. First Course Nicasio Valley egg, lemongrass spuma, pine nuts. We chose to add the optional Black Périgord truffle. When pierced with my spoon, the bright yellow yolk blended like a brushstroke into the white of the egg. The spuma (an airy, savory foam created by aerating a sauce) added a delicate citrus-herbal lift to the richness of the egg. The pine nuts brought delightful contrast texture. Oh, and that exquisite toast! Elegant and harmonious. The delicately-shaved truffle provided a heavenly mouth-feel. Second Course Winter salad, shima aji, orange olive oil or Sunchoke tortelloni, spinach, shiitake, thyme jus One companion chose the vibrant winter salad -- stunning in color and textures including shima aji, a premium Japanese fish. I chose the sunchoke tortelloni. Although I'm usually not a fan of al dente pasta, here it worked beautifully to contrast the creamy filling. The green-tinged spinach tortelloni were visually striking and balanced by the earthy shiitake and fragrant thyme jus. Third Course Mount Lassen trout, abalone & carrot risotto, lobster cream or Flannery beef ribeye, artichoke, Banyuls, black garlic We all chose the trout. The fish was executed perfectly -- caramelized, crisp exterior, yet it flaked effortlessly into large, tender pieces with the fork. The carrot risotto leaned slightly sweet for my palate, though beautifully textured. The tiny slivers of abalone, however, were surprisingly overcooked and chewy. The lobster cream had a thinner, almost broth-like consistency and didn't meaningfully elevate the dish. For reference, Banyuls (used in the ribeye preparation) is a French fortified wine like port from the Roussillon region that creates deep, slightly sweet reductions that complement richer meats. Fourth Course Shiso panna cotta, pineapple vanilla gelée. The panna cotta was softly set, cool, and subtly sweet -- a lovely, light finish. The Japanese mint herb of shiso was subtle. The crumble beneath added wonderful contrast and texture. A small piece of pineapple was firmer than expected, though the overall composition remained balanced and refreshing. With it, I had a decaf Americano. It was so smooth and flavorful I drank it black -- and enjoyed every sip. Post-dessert course We were pleasantly surprised with a pearlized white box of what appeared to be handmade confections: caramel, a sugar-dusted berry gelée, and a ganache-filled chocolate truffle. The unexpected welcome bites and post-dessert confections made the four-course prix fixe feel even more generous and thoughtfully orchestrated. Madcap is an experience of delightful visual artistry and intentional composition. The overall execution, ambiance, and hospitality created a memorable evening. P.S. While I typically eat gluten- and dairy-free, making those substitutions would have fundamentally changed the menu. For this celebratory evening, I chose not to alter the chef's composition. We visited on 2/26/26.
