I came here for brunch with my family and fiancé. The food was delicious! Everything tasted homemade and came in large portion sizes. We were seated relatively quickly for a party of 5. The ambiance was very family friendly and comfortable. I definitely would recommend coming here!

This little establishment is a hidden gem! I'm so upset that I haven't stopped by before. It's def in spot where if you don't past by often then you wouldn't even know it existed, but I was glad to see with a 45 min wait that they have some faithful customers! I had the chicken fried chicken that was no where near dry or bland! The fried potatoes were so delicious with a perfect crunch ratio! I loved that my friends side of cornbread looked like a pancake! The size of the plates were super filling and we ate ALL of it! Can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu!

How is that I only recently heard of this place and only recently went? Like how?! They are preparing to celebrate 5 years in business, August 2021, and with food like this, I know they will be around for years to come. I ordered chicken and waffles with a side of scrambled eggs. Listen, the way this chicken is seasoned will have you wanting to kiss the chef. It is a special season blend created by the Owner, Marvin. Marvin was the nicest ever. He came over and spoke to us, gave us the history, and was very personable. I was with a friend who ordered the create your own omelette and she loved it also. We were sitting next to a guy who raved about the burger and then another couple walked up saying, "Marvin, my man, this food was good! We will definitely be back!" I highly recommend!

Okay I'm updating you guys. I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner Marvin on the day of my initial review. He apologized for the unfortunate experience and invited me back for a do-over. To my surprise he gave me his personal cell and sat down with me to discuss the prior visit including a bit of history of Breakfast & Lunch Lovers. I'm pleased to announce that the customer service was outstanding. I ordered a pork chop breakfast (see below). Biscuit was perfect and they had strawberry jelly, Smuckers to be exact :-) I'm here for all of it. Grits took a little elbow grease but I had ample butter and salt (yes, I'm from Louisiana so salty vs. sweet is my comfort). My server is the best one I've ever had, NO CAP! From her attentiveness and kindness I can tell that she loves her job and cares about making sure her patrons come back. Marvin made me a brisket sandwich to-go and whew! If I wasn't already stuffed from breakfast I would've eaten it too lol You should stop by and taste these flavors for yourself!

Excited for another opportunity to support Black Businesses. My sister and I have collard green battles and I feel like these were a STRONG contender. Absolutely the best I have ever had dining out. Seasoned better that Gladys' and cooked longer and leaner than Paula's. These greens brought the heat! All they needed was a couple dashes of Tabasco and you couldn't tell these greens nothing. The catfish was also perfectly seasoned. Not too salty, not over crispy or oily, like cooked to fking perfection - like they got someone's grandma's cast iron back there. I also had mashed potatoes. If I am to write a legit review I gotta say I wished they were a little lighter like maybe whipped up. They had good flavor I just felt like they were a bit to dense for me. Too much potato skin. But for real, I didn't care because the catfish and greens were so fking legit I couldn't have finished the mashed potatoes too. My husband slaughtered his biscuits and gravy and the savage ain't even offer me a bite. When I asked if he wanted to try some of my greens he declined because he said the B&G was too good he needed to save all the room he could. Said he would have felt like he was cheating he was so in love with them. It was a big ass plate full of gravy and potatoes on fluffy biscuits. Still mad at him for that. But he did pick up the check so I guess we're good? My aunties from Texas both had breakfast. Chicken and waffles, pancakes and bacon. They also loved their dishes. Both of them complimented the portion sizes, which I agreed they were perfect. Like not over the top huge but also plenty. You're gunna leave damn full - I promise you. Speaking of portion sizes, I don't think there were many unhappy plates at our table - most of us cleaned them. Matter of fact as I think about it - we hadn't seen each other in a long minute, so we were hella chatty when we sat down. There were 14 of us total. So we were creating quite the low roar in our section. When the food came the talking damn near ceased completely. All I could hear was forks and knives and low yumms, and shit. Service was excellent, attentive, quick, and very friendly. She was kind enough to take our picture- and I know that's a big ask. She kept the order straight, all kindsa separate check madness - with none of the paying parties really sitting together - didn't bat her eyelashes, just handled business like a pro. My husband's birthday is coming up and I'd been pondering what to do for his bday cake - so I think I'm going to score a pie - he wanted to try the bourbon pecan but there simply wasn't the room after all that gravy goodness. I'll update my review when I can tell you about it. Please give Breakfast and Lunch Lovers a try. You can thank me now. You're welcome.

My boyfriend and I just moved to the Raytown area and we're looking for a new breakfast spot. I saw this place was right down the street and had 4.4 star review on google so we had to give it a try. Man am I happy we stopped in!! What a darling place! We were instantly greeted with smiles and a welcome vibe. The service was OUTSTANDING. They have you order at the back bar and then take a seat. I had never seen a diner setup like this before but let me tell you it works. We maybe waited if even 10 minutes for the food to come out after we sat down. I was shocked at how quickly it came out! On top of that, the food was delicious!! Can't go wrong with that! Outstanding service and amazing food. We will be back for sure and advise anyone in the raytown area to stop by and check it out!! Definitely a hidden gem!

My husband and I had take-out brunch at BLL a few weeks ago. I still remember how great it was. The two plate-sized blueberry pancakes were made with fresh blueberries. The slightly spicy sausage was a perfect side. My husband is a pancake connoisseur. He's eaten them at places all over KC. He said the cakes at BLL were the best he'd ever had. We took home a pan of brownies--incredibly chocolaty and delicious. They would be a hit at any potluck. We live about half an hour away from BLL. It was well worth the drive. I have recommended this place to all of my friends. Fast, friendly service and great food. We will be back! read more

Here is a Ma & Pa Family owned and operated business that serves the best breakfast around! The atmosphere is relaxing and peaceful with Motown music in the background and NO RAP CRAP. Great friendly service. I highly recommend having your breakfast here and not at a franchise business with poor quality food and no soul. I cleaned my plate and you will too! read more

We were in town last year and looking for breakfast near the stadium and was lucky enough to find this place. The atmosphere is great. The staff was so friendly and provided excellent service. This is my second time visiting and once again amazing. Amazing food, super friendly service that truly makes you feel at home. I am definitely going to continue to come here and tell others about the quality of the BLL. Also I cannot forget the nonstop Motown playing which made me feel as if I was at grandmas house on Saturday/Sunday morning. Bring your appetite and be ready for a family atmosphere. read more

This is a really cute diner with an amazing breakfast menu. The staff is so warm and friendly and will keep your coffee cup full. They have the absolute best waffles I've ever had (I recommend the strawberry cream cheese waffles!). They are so light and fluffy and the toppings are so good that I don't bother adding syrup. read more

It is great to have a local Breakfast restaurant in Raytown. I just wanted pancakes, and they were very reasonably priced for 2, so I was worried I might not be ordering enough food. And I was wrong - the pancakes were huge. I ordered Banana, which was delicious. I was full before they were gone. My husband ordered the #1. Eggs came out sunny side up, but not to worry, because they quickly brought him out a large portion of the scrambled eggs he wanted. Never had anything that wasn't good here. If you go, I definitely recommend the banana pancakes and fried potatoes. My mom absolutely loves their biscuits and gravy, says they're her favorite she's ever had outside of her kitchen. Service is great too. Update: Went back last weekend and tried the chicken & waffle (with chicken strips instead of wings). It was SO GOOD. Warm syrup and a bit of hot sauce made it to die for. I've been twice in the past week. The first visit for brunch fell on Mother's Day and they were packed, but my husband and I were seated within their 15 minute estimated wait. I ordered the chicken and waffle, which was two breaded and fried tenderloins and a Belgian waffle. Their chicken is prepared well and I found the waffle tasty, too. The next visit was with my mother during the week. She ordered an omelette and our server let her add as many veggies as she wanted without a surcharge. Their fruit bowls are higher quality than other restaurants. It was a mix of blueberries, strawberries, and grapes with a portion of sliced banana atop. I didn't find any mushy berries or bad pieces like I sometimes do elsewhere. The owner comes to check on the level of service you're receiving and makes small talk. Vote with your dollars and support local! read more

Excellent chicken fried chicken. The meal portions are HUGE! Split a breakfast two ways and could have easily fed three. Delicious cottage potatoes are just right crispness. Three gravy choices for your biscuits. Many cheese choices. This place has all the options. read more

What can I say !!! So many wonderful words about this place . First when we walked in I felt I was going to someone home for breakfast the hospitality was awesome. I wanted to support my local establishment this morning, but with about 10 minutes of having waited after being sat by the hostess, who also proceeded to sit by the hostess stand in clear site of my table for the same amount of time, and hearing the server's voice at the table behind me after 2 visits with absolute no contact at my table for even a water or "how ya do?", I was done. Not sure how long folks typically have to wait, but I was definitely not a factor for them this morning. read more

TOP FLIGHT FOOD A co-worker and I decided to try this place after reading the reviews. We observed warm and friendly staff, a clean bright environment and a background music level that was properly set. You can actually have a conversation without shouting over the music! Now to the food. In a word EXCELLENT! We both had variations on Country Fried Chicken and could not find anything to complain about. Taste and presentation were great! The only drawback was the protracted time it took to be waited on. Please understand. the service was excellent, but it took time for the server to get to us. We will POSITIVELY GO BACK! read more

We started to remodel the old Godfathers Restaurant in January of 2016 after I left my job April 30 2015 which was The General Manager of Big Biscuit Independence Mo. We opened The Breakfast and Lunch Lover's Restaurant in August of 2016

Bottom line: If you want a greasy, sauce slathered chain burger, go to Five Guys. If you want a solid, no-frills non chain burger with good service and plenty of seating (as you noted), this place delivers. And clearly, you agree it's worth a second visit.

When it came to the food, it was meh at best. We got the jalapeno burger and the avocado burger. The patties are reminiscent of cafeteria burgers in school. There was no mayo or mustard or any type of sauce on them. The bottom bun was soggy shortly after being served, likely due to the veggies. Needless to say, we did not get our burger fix. So we won't come here again for that. Burger preferences are subjective, so just because it wasn't for us doesn't mean you can't try for yourself. We do plan to go back to try the breakfast items though.

At least IHOP fixes it without attitude, and you actually get enough food. I want to support local businesses. I don't like downloading apps, but to let y'all know I LOVE Breakfast & Lunch Lovers in Yelp I had too. Now although I am not as fond of the lunch options EVERYTHING on the breakfast side of the menu is heaven. I took my boyfriend there for Father's day weekend and although they were extremely busy the service was so great he said the only thing that could have topped it was a shoulder massage. Thanks to my grandson I'm currently stuck on the cinnamon roll pancakes. Why are you still sitting here reading...
