It's got that ideal coffee shop & chill vibe -- during the week you'll see adults working quietly on laptops, and on weekends it turns into a mix of families, kids, and regulars who clearly love the place. The staff is always friendly, and the self-serve water station is a nice touch. Coffee: I've tried the lattes twice and the Salted Market Cold Foam Cold Brew (Sway Coffee Roasters cold brew + market syrup cold foam) once. Both are good -- not life-changing, but solid. I actually don't come here for the coffee; I come for the food. Breakfast: Quiche (Veggie or Bacon & Sausage) - Comes with a side of parmesan arugula salad. The veggie version surprised me -- I usually go for meat, but this one wins for balance and flavor. The meat version is good too, just a bit salty. Veggie: 4.5/5 | Meat: 4/5 The Farm Sandwich - Scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, veggies, cheddar, poblano spread, and avocado on a croissant. That croissanty, buttery base and poblano spread: Absolute chef's kiss. My mom and I both love this one -- buttery, filling, and comforting in every bite. 5/5 Pepper Jack Burrito - Scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, pepper jack cheese, and serrano sauce. Great kick from the sauce! If they toasted the wrap, it'd be a perfect 5/5 instead of 4/5. Chorizo Bowl - Over-easy egg, chorizo, sweet potatoes, quinoa, black beans, avocado, green onion + charred salsa. I'm usually not a quinoa fan (it's the "brown rice of health food"), but somehow they make it amazing. Sweet, savory, hearty -- the kind of dish that makes you forget it's healthy. A perfect brunch bowl. 5/5 -- honestly should be 6/5. Bakery Items: Carrot muffin and cinnamon donut -- both are light, perfectly sweet, and just the right size. 5/5 Layla's Last Breakfast This place also has sentimental meaning for me. On the day I had to say goodbye to my dog, Layla, I bought her breakfast from McLain's -- biscuits and gravy, and The Farm sandwich. That was her last meal before the vet came to our house. It was a rainy day and my daughter was sleeping in. I decided to change it up from the hotel breakfast and head over to this McLain's location. I wasn't the only one with the idea to head to McLain's this morning either. The drive-thru had quite the line-up and there were plenty of folks inside too! This place has great energy. It's colorful and fun with plenty to look at including an amazing bakery case, plenty of packaged food items to go (both sweet and savory), a small retail area, a cool balloon decoration on the wall, and of course the friendly staff and buzzing customers all around. Everything on the menu looks amazing, so it was a challenge to figure out what to order. I ended up going with the market latte with oat milk, the steel cut oats, and a "Plain + Simple," which is "McLain's classic scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheddar, on english muffin toast." My daughter ended up having the P+S and seemed to enjoy it! I also enjoyed my latte and oats. I so desperately want to give McLain's 5 stars, but no matter which location I go to it's always crowded and the parking is iffy. I suppose that's a five star recommendation in itself... They're popular for a reason! Sour cream crumb cake is absolutely worth the calories. Moist and tasty and lots of crumble on top. I always order my favorite Gao Wen tea (Hugo tea brand), it's got a deliciously complex flavor and with a splash of cream and stevia there's no better cup in town. I go to this location 2x a week for the market bowl. It's very good, healthy and always bland. It's ad salt and pepper at home. Delicious! This morning I also ordered a blueberry and lemon scone. I warmed it up a few seconds at home and I have to say it's not very good. It's very heavy doughy and has no lemon flavor except in the bit of drizzled frosting .. Yum! This place is the best. Such a cute location and with the remodel they did you would have no idea it used to be a sub shop. I love being able to put a to go order in over my super busy lunch and have a hearty and healthy meal ready to go. Today I tried the southwest salad for the first time and it was SO delicious. But the best part was the ease of ordering it on their website, and paying with Toast. The food is always ready when it says it will be and it's a breeze to hop in and grab my lunch to go. I also really love their sandwiches and they have some of the best pastries and cookies. Their Cobb salad is also one of my favorites. Both salads come with a slice of the most delicious bread. Mom and I both enjoyed their homemade quiche, served with a generous arugula salad on the side. I'm not usually an arugula fan, but the dressing was delicious, and the parmesan made it a winner. The quiche itself? A big yes from me. We didn't try any desserts this time, but they have all the McClain's favorites--chocolate drop cookies, lemon bars--that had me drooling just looking at them! So happy McLain's opened - been needing more casual coffee/breakfast spots in this area. There's a ton of seating inside and out, but would say our table was a liiiittle dirty. My almond milk latte was a solid 10/10, and the sticky bun and cinnamon roll were both great! Do wish that they'd offer to heat them up though. This is the second McLain's location I've been to besides their staple Brookside home. I love the exterior acid catches my eye every time I drive past it so we decide to stop one day for a couple treats and coffee. The staff behind the counter is super friendly and answered any questions we had. We chose two different coffee drinks along with two unique sweet treats. The lemon cake she had was superior. The cookie was nice too, but did not need to spend money on a small item like that again. Unfortunately the coffee was subpar, but the café is still reliable for sweet treats. There's a good amount of seating but it could be tough to find a spot at peak times. I ordered the biscuit + gravy both of my visits along with various pastry items. Highly recommend the biscuit + gravy. Biscuits and gravy is one of my favorites for breakfast and McLain's option does not disappoint. The service is excellent. We discovered this local gem today. And we are glad we did. Think a cross between a local Panera and a quaint local cafe/bakery. We love to support local and they have a few different locations on the KC area to visit. The staff is friendly and cheerful, which always brings a smile. Their menu variety has enough to satisfy almost every craving. Wraps, salads, bowls, sandwhiches, pasteries, cakes, hot drinks, cold drinks and seasonal choices, etc. We stopped in for pasteries and a coffee today. My husband loves cinnamon rolls and theirs did not disappoint. Light and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. The size is pretty decent as well. I had the butter roll, which was also light and fluffy. Reminded me of a lightly iced croissant roll. I also tried their Market Latte. Which may have just become my favorite latte. Best way to describe it is, a liquid cinnamon roll in a cup. They use Sway coffee (local) in all their coffe drinks. I've mentioned before that the environment here is not my typical vibe, however I have not been harassed here and always been treated with kindness and respect. When you walk in, the line to order is right in the front located near the grab-n-go drinks and food. Ordering is easy and the staff are all incredibly friendly. I consider myself a McLain's aficionado and this new location being right by home is going to be trubs. The parking lot and drive through are spacious, much more than the claustrophobia inducing OP location. You walk up to a nice big entrance, and there's a small gift section upon entry. The ordering counter is mid-way through the restaurant, and the menu is full of all our faves. I hoped to see a surprise new menu item specific to this location, but it's a no go so far. The premade case was full, and the bakery case was hit or miss. I'm guessing that's the holiday weekend, but could be that they're getting everyone up to speed. You can see training still happening all throughout. I can see they're going to have cocktails, the bar is being stocked. The lunch menu didn't have them yet. Overall, they're still working on kinks having just opened. Five stars would look like: -more indoor seating. They have the demand and it's likely to always be crammed. Not having designed outdoor seating like the other locations is a miss. -the weird first parking spot in the lot was mismeasured. Make it a bike/motorcycle spot. -the standing counter will perhaps help, but if it's full, there's no clear view to the menu. That's going to great flow issues. Laminated menus or a QR code at the entrance would help if not planned. I'm still a fan, but def some opps to elevate this location once everyone gets settled into the new space and jobs! read more

Friendly service, huge selection of baked goods, I can't comment much on the sandwiches as I wish they would add more vegan options other than the avocado toast. There's a window in the back seating area where you can watch them prepare the baked goods. Fun little spot, happy they added a south OP location as we frequently visited the Lawrence restaurant too! Love the pastries but eating in is a very mediocre experience. I ordered the chicken and biscuit and gravy sandwich. Was given a small biscuit with a bunch of barely warm, pasty gravy. I asked the woman who delivered it where the chicken was and she said that one is $13. I said I knew that. After she walked away and I tasted it I took it up to the counter and asked them to heat it up. After quite a bit of time they brought over my "reheated" item. It had a congealed yellow film over it and was not hot. It was thick and bland. No one seemed to care or ask if it was better. A problem can be an opportunity to go out of your way to fix a problem. Their response just made it worse. My friends avocado toast was "ok". Drink wasn't hot. Again, baked goods are great but menu item execution and service are not at all impressive. read more

This place is nothing but an amazing brunch place where you can go with your family and friends to enjoy Very fast served hot and delicious food especially in the weekend. This is an amazing place to go hang out. They have an amazing bar and a great selection of bakery items and their services super fast.
