We came to British Swim in hopes to grow my daughter's skills and technique. She was first apart of the Shark class then once they launched Barracuda in March 2024, Zoe and Jamal highly recommended her to join. It gave her the opportunity to push herself and grow her confidence in the sport she loved. For the days she had to make up from missing class at the PQ location she would go to the UTC location. We have always had a great experience there. The swim teachers for Barracuda at UTC were great especially Zoe and Tesla. One more important thing about going to UTC, your parking ticket is validated also by the gym. Being apart of this non-competitive swim team, Barracuda has really allowed growth in her technique, endurance and confidence. If you want your kids to one day be apart of competitive swim, we HIGHLY recommend British Swim School. They will make sure your child is ready to crush swim team try outs and set them up for success! We are grateful for all the swim teachers that have been apart of her journey! Also, thank you to Jamal who is always great at communicating and being flexible with make ups! You all truly show how much you value family! I also appreciate the British Swim app, it made payments and submitting absences and scheduling make ups so convenient. Thank you!

My 5-year-old just completed ISR refresher with My Baby Swims and wanted to highlight his progress…read moreand abilities under the instruction of this program. Before ISR, we spent over a year in traditional once a week swim lessons. While he enjoyed the pool, he wasn't swimming independently, showed little advancement and didn't have the skills to get himself to safety. After hearing so many parents recommend Coach Brad, we were fortunate to get into the program. As a healthcare provider, I appreciated the full ISR intake process and personalization of each lesson. They always considered his sleep, diet, and daily routine, and knew exactly when to encourage him while keeping him confident and engaged. Knowing exactly when to challenge a child to advance a skill, when to offer reassurance, and how to do both within the brief window of a young child's attention span is no easy task. My Baby Swims instructors have truly mastered that balance. My son, who once struggled with fear and anxiety when transitioning into the pool area, is now confidently swimming the length of the pool with a huge smile and has the skills to safely navigate the water. Just as importantly, I now have the knowledge and confidence as a parent to continue supporting his progress. Thank you, Coach Brad, Coach Baye, and My Baby Swims, for giving our son the confidence and life-saving skills to be safer in the water.

My two children (2 year old girl and 4 year old boy) both just completed their first 6 week session…read moreof ISR with My Baby Swims and I have nothing but positive things to say. My 4 year old son had significant anxiety about swimming before ISR. He liked to be around pools and water but would often become panicked and upset if his face got wet. This was a huge source of stress for us because many of our family members have pools in their backyards and we know how important water safety is. We had tried swim lessons with 3 different swim schools before My Baby Swims. We could not find any school that actually was able to successfully teach him water safety skills. The other swim schools did not seem to know how to teach a child who had anxiety in the water, and most of his lessons felt like wasted time doing things like blowing bubbles with no actual swimming progress. My son had Brad as his instructor and he was swimming after the first week. The amount of improvement I saw by the end of his 6 weeks feels like a miracle to our family-he is now swimming, floating and getting himself to the wall. He even enjoys swimming now! My 2 year old daughter had coach Baye and we also had a great experience with her. My daughter loved going to lessons everyday-she was so excited she could hardly wait to get in. We are also so impressed by how well she can roll & float on her own now. Overall, My Baby Swims is a time commitment but it was 100% worth it for our family. Swimming is an essential safety skill especially living in California and it is always worth the investment. Brad and his team are all truly amazing at what they do. They are highly skilled and are trained in teaching all types of children-including children who are more anxious about the water. I cannot recommend them enough. We will definitely be back in the future for refreshers!

Wanted to take a moment to update my review of YMCA's Summer Camp experience now that our youngest…read moreturned 5 and has joined her big brother (10 year old) at camp. The YMCA Dan McKinney location continues to be rockstars when it comes to their summer camp experiences for the kids. There is a reason we come year after year and it has to do with the quality of their high interest, highly engaging camps. The counselors continue to work hard to ensure all campers are having a blast and be so patient and kind in those moments of overwhelm. As an educator myself, I greatly appreciate the care and effort of each counselor we've met this summer. I see the effort and it doesn't go unnoticed. Our oldest (10 year old, autism and ADHD) continues to love the different camps he's been a part of this summer. Slime, Harry Potter, Adventure (I mean....they're going on amazing field trips to Petco Park and Safari Park!), and soon Parkour. Our youngest (5 year old) has loved gymnastics, Disney Jr, and coming up Little Gardeners. It just feels good as a parent (and special needs parent at that) to drop off your kids knowing they're safe, going to make some new friends, and thoroughly enjoy each activity each day. Registration is straightforward, communication each week is clear and helpful, checking in and out also a breeze. 10/10 So, thank you YMCA Dan McKinney for continuing to provide amazing camps for our kids and kudos to all of the counselors who are gems in bringing these camps to life for these/my kids.

Our 4-year-old daughter just finished her second round of lessons with John - WOW! Best money I…read morespent. We first brought our daughter to John June 2025 to learn how to swim to safety if she ever fell in the pool. We didn't have a lot of swim time last year but she came back remembering everything and in 10 days was swimming breaststroke. Still in AWWW. We did a second course because we're heading to a vacation home with a pool and no fence. This refresher gave me a lot of peace of mind. We have two older boys (now 13 and 10), and we've done private lessons, group classes... everything when they were 4. We spent way more time and money and I still didn't feel confident in their swimming. He breaks everything into steps and uses one-word cues and the kids instantly know what to do. You can literally see the muscle memory building and it just becomes natural. He genuinely cares about safety - that's the foundation of everything he does. Bottom line: 10 minutes a day for 10 days and my 4-year-old is swimming. Simple, effective, and pretty amazing to see. Highly recommend. You can see the difference

Nowadays, I am a confident swimmer and enjoy recreational swimming with family. It works! However, never in all my years have I experienced such deep-set dread as when we drove to the pool I was learning in, and I still feel queasy and nervous whenever we pass that turn in the car. Nothing has ever frightened me more, before or since. Yes, I cried every session, just like the website says. We still laugh at the time I ran out of the pool, subconsciously believing that since I'd never seen "Swim2John" exit the pool, he was unable to. He marched over, pulled me out of my dad's lap, and threw me bodily into the water, which to me was like watching a tiger walk out of its enclosure. I remember those ten days better than I remember the birth of my sister. Yet, I highly recommend this program: it's worth it. I may have some lingering stress, but by George, I can swim. And within ten days, too. Just be warned that the instructor may become the recurring antagonist in your children's pretend games. A sincere thank you to Swim2John (whose name in our household will always be "Swim2John" rather than "John").

I moved to San Diego a year ago. Awesome location, horrible sleezy Salesman…read more Walked in signed in to the front desk, and kept walking to my warm up spot. Then they yell "Michael" and wave me back over from the middle of the gym only for them to try and sell some other package to me. This literally happened tonight at 8:30 PM after a long day of studying and working. Ironic how the front desk employee waved me over and a sales manager tried to upsell mealmost like they had a bet to see if I would buy. hilarious behavior..honestly think my 16 year old cousin is a better and more socially aware salesman Super unprofessional and quite frankly disrespectful. Embarrassing to be quite frank. The employees that have been there for a while are not too bad. Renovations designed by a toddler...I heard they are switching the outdoor to a pickle ball court Only reason I'm still a member at this gym is because of convenience as there are many in San Diego and throughout California as a whole. 24 management do better... or at least train salesmen in hospitality bc that was sorry asf

Renovation? You Mean Rearranging?…read more I've been a member of this gym for almost 5 years, and honestly, it feels like it has gone downhill despite all the promises. For months we were told broken equipment would not be repaired because a major renovation was coming. Fair enough. Except now the "renovation" is supposedly complete, and I'm struggling to figure out what was actually renovated. Rearranging equipment is not a renovation. The cardio machines were moved and now many of them are literally sitting underneath the TVs, making the layout awkward and poorly thought out. The cycling room had the bikes removed and placed outside the room, while the space appears to have been filled with concrete and construction debris. The solution for ventilation in the expanded weight area seems to be one giant fan expected to cool the entire room. We were also told the outside turf area was being turned into a pickleball court. First of all, who is playing pickleball at a 24-hour gym 24/7? Second, there is no visible sign that an actual pickleball court is being constructed. The area is just blocked off so members can't use it anymore. It feels random, pointless, and honestly very weird. The cleanliness has become one of the biggest concerns. The water fountains are disgusting. There is visible rust, mineral buildup, dust, and grime around the drinking areas. These are not just cosmetic issues anymore; they feel like a health concern. Looking at them makes you question whether they are being maintained at all. The gym also seems to have given up on broken equipment. I think they've even run out of "Out of Order" signs because machines stay broken for so long without any real indication of whether they are being repaired or replaced. What's most frustrating is that they held a "Grand Reopening" last week. Grand reopening for what exactly? The construction area still looks unfinished, equipment is still broken, the water fountains look like they belong in an abandoned building, and the overall experience has not improved. Their slogan is "24 Hour Fitness - Do More." Maybe it's time they took their own advice.
