Large Ham Grinder with extra meat - toasted
    D. R.

I try to be fair and report the good with the bad. The annoying: 1) No restroom for paying customers. 2) My sister-in-law is a type 1 diabetic so she was asking about the sugar content. The guy behind the register was mumbling under his breath about 'no sugar content in the food' and said 'they ask a lot of questions.' He is lucky he doesn't have to ask those kind of questions and shouldn't be mumbling under his breath when paying customers are asking questions so they do not cause a spike in blood sugar that could cause a hospital visit. 3) Only one picnic table to sit outside. Now the good: 1) The lady who took our order was really nice, she asked how we wanted the sandwich prepped and answered our questions. 2) They offer an extra meat option for those who like a more filling sandwich. 3) The small sandwiches are rather large. So, if you have a TMJ problem, you may want to consider a bun instead of a grinder bread. 4) the cannolis are delicious, even better than the cannolis my spouse bought at Mike's Pastry in Boston (we waited 30+ minutes in line. So, the good outweighs the bad so we will visit again next time we are in town.

My family has been coming here for atleast 4 generations. Over 40 years. David is amazing. I love their cannolis and brownies. The pricing is reasonable and the portions are great too. I love their Tuna on soft bread. Family owned and super kind. Any time I'm in the area, I make sure to stop here. There's a picnic bench out front if you want to sit and eat. Definitely a cozy sub and pizza shop. The workers are just as friendly. There's plenty of parking.

Combo with HOT CAPPICOLA and GENOA SALAMI.

The food is great. The staff is friendly and courteous. They offer a great variety of deli food and they prepare it on delicious bread.

There Salami grinders are the best. When I come from Florida to Connecticut that's one of the first places I go to.

There is large tree in the center of the space that immediately makes you feel at ease, as if entering the garden at an Italian villa. The lighting is muted and the interior is tastefully modern with leather chairs and white tablecloths. Our server Corina was very friendly and welcoming, answering our questions and making us feel at ease there. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass as well as bottles. We had Mascarelli montepulciano and Whispering Angel rose, both very good. I also had a Bourbon Peach Smash, a peach-y version of an old-fashioned that was tasty and refreshing. We started with burrata - amazingly fresh creamy mozzarella served with crostini, "cherry bomb" tomatoes and aged balsamic. Great way to start the meal! For our mains, we had chicken parmesan (extremely fresh and tender chicken & mozzarella with a hearty red sauce) ordered with a side of broccolini and their pork chop (grilled, red chimi, fingerling potatoes) - a thick and tender chop that was one of the best I've ever had, and the red chimi added a delightful little zing to it. For dessert, we ordered the affogato (wonderful vanilla gelato drowned with expresso at the table) - wonderfully decadent and delicious.

The complimentary Parmesan cheese they serve you in so darn good, I wanted to eat the whole plate. I opted for their Malfaldine Pasta and it didn't disappoint. However, after trying some of the rigatoni pasta I would definitely order that next time! It was so flavorful and the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. The only miss for us were the mussels; on the fishy side and not edible for us. For dessert you must get the affogato!

But I'm a very Big of this buffet. Also I had an excellent waitress by the name of Sarah from my previous visits. Unfortunately Sarah wasn't working here today and I introduced to my New most favorite waitress Elyse. Elyse is so full of charm and energy and an awesome personality. Excellent customer service skills, and Elyse made our visit to Todd's English Tuscany a real treat. For starters I had to start with my staples Eggs Benedict, Garlic flavored Greenbeans, a nice assortment of fruit so delicious and flavorful, and my true Love the bacon. Now I never really eat too much bacon when I'm in NYC or Florida but here they make the bacon with such an awesome flavor I'm extremely happy that I don't live close to the Mohegan Sun Casino because I'll be having this bacon everyday. Eggs Benedict, Bacon and Elyse what a great way to start my day at the Mohegan Sun Casino.

Unfortunately, it was a major letdown, especially with a celebrity chef's name attached. Started with a really tasty cherry margarita and thought we were off to a great start, but really felt like, as another review mentioned, a pricy Olive Garden. Apps: The best of our meal was the caesar salad ($19). Shrimp cocktail ($21) were barely passable as they were rubbery and clearly overcooked. Entrees: --Brisket pappardelle ($48), spinach pappardelle, white-wine braised brisket, shaved pecorino. A disaster. Listed on the menu as one of "Todd's favorites," the pasta was way undercooked, stuck together in a gloppy, tasteless sauce. We left more than half of it (and noticed the table next to us did the exact same thing). For nearly $50, this was inexcusable. --Chicken parmesan ($42), large portion, but completely mediocre. Okay marinara sauce, but nothing special. --Filet mignon ($52), cooked to the requested temperature, but looking back at the menu, it was missing the listed demi-glace entirely. No wonder it tasted so lacking. --Parmesan fries ($12), suggested by our server to pair with the steak, but they arrived cold--and our waitress disappeared for a long while so we couldn't send them back. One final tip: The restaurant is kept freezing cold. Forewarned if you're in shorts and short sleeves. With Todd English's name, expected much better
