We had a wonderful time at the bar on a very busy Saturday night. The bartenders were amazing and the energy in the restaurant was happy and festive. My husband had a special drink for the drain. It was a maple pecan Old Fashion. He said it was really good but could only have one beside of how sweet it was. We shared the corn and bacon risotto and the crab cake sandwich with fries. We were so happy and a little surprised when it came out and the sand which came out on two plates and both had a great amount of fries. The risotto was really good and a great amount. The crab cakes were wonderful and the fried green tomatoes made the whole meal. We had a wonderful time and will be back soon! read more

Was looking for late night food and called breakneck tavern to see what time the kitchen was open until. They said 11. We showed up at 10:40 and sat at a high top table. Got absolutely no service and no one would even look at us for 20 minutes so we left. Don't say your kitchen is open until 11 if you won't serve until then. This is a really cool spot that must be well known to the locals because the parking lot was full. We went during the Kentucky derby it was busy but they sat us right away. There was a little bit of a wait between drinks and food but it wasn't a concern for us the bartender was also our waiter. The food was amazing I had the crab pasta it was a very large portion I took more than half of it home. Every time I come the parking lot is a trainwreck and very difficult to find a parking spot. Also, where we were seated it was deafening and very hard to have a conversation. I felt as though the service was cold and not welcoming as well. Food: - Crab Dip: honestly what makes this dish is their pita chips/bread. They toast them and come out warm - Mahi: it was blackened and came with roasted asparagus & cheesy grits. They topped it with crispy sweet potato sticks. Service was super friendly, I really have to give it up to the staff. Even with the safety protocols of masks and gloves they were warm and welcoming. The food and drinks were okay. I had a Caesar salad which was fine but the bbq flatbread wasn't great. We had some cocktails and in general they were very sweet. My last drink, a rye old fashioned, was the best of the bunch. The patio was nice. They have a great beer list so if I come back, I'd love to sit at the bar and sample a variety of beers. read more

The tavern has an extensive beer list with lots of local microbrews as options, and creative cocktails that pleased my mother and my wife. This is a nice local tavern with delicious food and great service. I usually get the burgers, wings, blue crab pasta or the Caesar salad. The tacos are good and they have a huge craft beer. The bar is a U shape and has lots of seating. Some chairs are better than others at the bar. Choose wisely. I highly recommend for casual dining and drinks. read more

When we first walked in I noticed the brick interior and expected a cool or even cold atmosphere, I couldn't have been more wrong. The atmosphere here is warm and inviting. The menu is packed with interesting selections not only to the eye but also the taste. My date and I shared the Smoked Salmon Flatbread and the Wild Mushroom Tacos. The flavor of both was very pleasing and well prepared. The tacos were filled with well seasoned mushrooms, pickled onions and a special sauce that was very tasty. The flatbread was a lot thicker than your normal offering which added to the good taste. The smoked salmon along with the light coating of cream cheese, pickled onions and capers were perfectly balanced. My friend had the Crab Sandwich and was very happy with it, I took a bite and was pleased because it was overwhelmingly crab meat and not filler, great job Breakneck! As if the food wasn't enough to bring a person back to Breakneck our bartender Cameron and the GM Teresa Marie were both very personable and helpful with suggestions. One of the worst exprience I've ever had at a resturant. Asked to not be sat directly in the sun. We walked to table to sitting DIRECTLY in the sun. That wouldn't be bad unless you had to wait 40 minutes to get water. Our waiter was down right awful. No personality, hustle, or courtesy. We waited 75+ minutes in the hot sun for our drinks AND food that came out at the same time which is insane and just flat out bad for business. We would've spent probably 1.5x the amount if everything was timely. That's actually pretty funny because the table next to us was served probably 2-3 times more than us. After all of this, there was no apologies. Management just shrugged and said oh it's just him! He's just like that. The bar also ran out of glasses which was the excuse that was given to us a year prior. We also never got silverware until the very last minute after asking multiple times. NEVER come here. It is ran by absolute CLOWNS and they are flat out unprofessional. read more

We live in the area and have come here several times since finding it a couple years ago. Never disappointed! We've had steaks, burgers, chicken - always good. Tonight I tried the watermelon jicama salad, and it was delicious. They have a good variety of drinks, from beers on tap to specialty cocktails and of course the long list of whisk(e)ys. My one complaint is I learned tonight the chocolate crème brûlée is no longer on the menu. This is not a 2 star restaurant, it is absolutely a 4 star restaurant. The ambiance is great and they have a great beer menu. We enjoyed our meals and the service at our table was fine. But here is your warning: DO NOT ORDER A MARTINI! We sat at the bar while waiting for our table, and the bartender (right in front of us) decided to wipe his hands on his pants, open a large jar of olives and bare hand them into the condiment garnish tray on the bar. Next drink that was ordered he dropped an olive in with his bare hand again. We sat there amazed for 20 minutes and not once did he wash his hands. I'm completely fine with a restaurant not requiring masks at this point, and I'll assume they are being honest with requiring their staff to be vaccinated. We were seated quickly as they were not too busy. Our waitress greeted us quickly, was attentive and refilled our drinks promptly. I hesitate to leave a negative review right now, but when it comes to basic service there is a minimum expectation. We went for brunch at 12:30 and were told we couldn't have salads as they didn't serve lunch until 1. No problem. I asked if I could just swap my side of potatoes for just plain lettuce on my plate, and the "kitchen" refused. I said any vegetable would be fine, but that wasn't an option either. I understand complex substitutions aren't feasible, but minimal flexibility is to be expected, as this obviously wasn't an availability issue, given that salads were offered 30 mins after our meal. No judgment, but for informational purposes as relevant to your unique situation, COVID protocol wasn't followed: staff and most guests were not masked even upon entering and tables indoor or outdoor were not distanced during our visit at least. read more

Our experience of dining at this beautiful tavern was a mixture of some excellent and a few disappointing elements. Excellent ones: Ambiance was great. Service was so timely, friendly, and accurate. Just lovely. The dishes: Bruschetta: good. Not the best you can expect but pretty good. Brussel sprouts : excellent Crab cake: tasty. I liked it Dish of the day: grilled trout: very good. Small piece of fish though. Disappointing ones: Wine was good but they come in very small amount. Almost empty glasses! Seafood chowder was so thin and bland. My server was engaging, super friendly & very much on top of things (never had to ask for a refill, extra napkins etc..) One of the best servers I've experienced in quite some time. Went for a Friday night dinner. It was hopping so glad we made a reservation so we didn't have to wait. Enjoyed some crab dip for an appetizer. Had a huge alcohol selection if you're a drinker, and lots of soda options for others. I had the beef brisket flat bread and it was so delicious. Such a diverse menu with options for all. Went here with my wife for lunch today - this was about our fourth time coming here, with good service and food the times before. We both ordered Wild Mushroom Burgers, cooked medium well, which usually has a little pink showing. After a long wait time given that they weren't crowded, our food came out. Mine had no pink but was very juicy, and honestly, it tasted very good. My wife usually cuts hers in half and usually eats half and takes half home. Turns out, I learned that hers wasn't juicy but actually dried out, and had a charcoally taste. She ate the first half because she was hungry, and eventually decided to eat the other half. After one bite, she decided to peel back the bun only to find out the bottom of the burger was all black! Why would their cook even let it leave the kitchen like that? Obviously they knew that they burned the heck out of it! So we had the waitress (who provided very good service by the way) send a manager over. The manager kept asking what could she do to make it right. Could she make a new one for my wife? But we didn't feel like waiting another half hour for that to happen. She asked again, what can I do to make it right? So I said, you could comp the meal (that's what most restaurants do when they make a mistake like this). Well, she got very indignant and demeaning about it. She said the best she could do is comp 50%. We said that would be acceptable. We weren't trying to pull anything, but we shouldn't have to pay full price for something that should have been tossed out and remade. She just wouldn't let it go, saying that we should have said something much earlier since they could have made it right. What happened to good customer service, and the customer is always right? You won't find it here with this manager. Not sure when we'll be back to this restaurant! read more

The hostess couldn't figure out or was overwhelmed by a little league team that came in and needed to be seated. This is 215pm in the afternoon. Not busy. Lot's of empty space. Seat them and let's move along. She just couldn't overcome the requests coming from this group which led us to a 15 min wait to get seated in a pretty empty restaurant. And then the hostess.........just disappeared. Service was good once we got a table. Creole muscles were off the charts fantastic. Wife loved black bean burger and beat salad. Mac n Cheese for our 5 yr old was terrible. I didn't believe my wife so I actually tried the mac n cheese as my 5 yr old wouldn't eat it. It was TERRIBLE. How can you mess up mac n cheese? Brisket sandwich was weak. Pass on this. One fatty piece of brisket on each side of the sandwich. Wings are usually fantastic but didn't order them today but wanted to change things up. I really want to love Breakneck Tavern. I've visited 4 times - and this last one - put it over with disappointment. My husband and I made reservations for my mothers 70th birthday back in....February after we had eaten here for Valentines day. We knew my mother would love the food. I called to see if I was able to up our reservations from 5-7 people 2 weeks before our reservations - which I was told wasn't a problem - and I received a confirmation from Opentable that this change had been made. I also confirmed - again that we would be able to sit at at TABLE - not booth. My mother has Parkinsons and walks with a walker - it was her day - so I wanted to make sure it was comfortable for her. The problems began the day of our reservations. I get a call - wanting to cancel our reservations because their backroom had been booked. I asked when the room had been booked - they said the day before. First Strike. I suggested a half booth/table I knew they had since i had been there before. I was told they would have to cancel reservations to make that work. I wont lie - I told them they needed to figure it out. I had made the reservations over 2 months ago. They said they would make it work. We get there - I get my mom sat down and situated. The table is set for 6. We ask for another chair - since our reservations were for 7. I am asked to move. I said - our reservations are for 7. We also just got my mother situated and the other table you want to set us at is a high top. She has a hard time getting in a regular chair - how do they think she is going to get into a high top chair? They grumble about adding another chair to our table, but eventually do it. We had to ask multiple times for drinks that were ordered, that 7th set of silverware and for our checks. I understand places are short staffed - we waited a good 10-15 minutes between times asking as we all understand that. But - my reseravtions were for 7. Did they think one person was going to disappear if they only set the table for 7? Was the food good? It was ok. Was the service good? It could have been better. Was the host staff nice? Not Really. Will i go back? I - honestly - don't know. read more

I came for lunch with my son, we ordered the crab dip, which was very good, then for our meals a cobb salad with salmon and the lamb entree with mushroom risotto. The size of the salmon was smaller than two fingers and very over done. The lamb was extremely fatty and chewy, not to mention not cooked properly. The mushroom risotto tasted canned mushroom soup over rice. This place once again disappointed, and is extremely overpriced for the quality of food. Our server was very friendly and prompt.
