Stopped in to eat while on vacation and I have to admit I was not impressed. The food was mediocre at best, not a lot of flavor, and the Hawaiian chicken looked uncooked. However, it was fully cooked, it just looked like it wad boiled as there was no charring or bbq grill marks. If you look on their website it shows chicken that's actually grilled but as you can see from my picture that's not the case. I added a picture of my food and a picture from their website to see the difference. The restaurant was clean, and the service was good.

    Brisket (95% fat)

We should have read the reviews more carefully, as we are not the first to comment how terrible the brisket was. See the attached photo - that is a $25 plate of brisket with .5 bites gone. The portion was nearly all fat. It wasn't just poor tourist food, but actually an inedible gelatinous mass. The beans were ok.

Understaffed. Honestly, don't remember much of it because I bit into my fish sandwich and immediately got burnt by hot liquid that came out of the fat fish patty. There was two fish patties on it, which is stupid next time just use one big piece of fish, not two little piece of fish. It was hard to hold the sandwich together the fish was overcooked and dry. The sandwich had no Moisture at all to it. It was just gross. There was no way to get extra tartar sauce or cocktail sauce, or anything like that. The rest of the family had a ok lunch.

Their food is tasty. I enjoyed it. The place can get a bit hectic on popular tourist weekends but it's worth the wait.

I wouldn't have guessed it would be in the Shell gas station, and when I first arrived I thought it had closed. To my delight, it was still open, and I just had to walk into the store. I felt like I was transported back to my hometown with all their decorations and stickers. The food was absolutely amazing with great prices and portions! The meat jun was something I can never find on the mainland, until now! Too bad I like 3 hours away (that won't stop me from visiting). The service is quick and if you want to make sure they have what you want, I suggest you get there towards the opening hours. The first day we went was during the last two hours of open and they sold out of meat Jun and their spam + egg musubis, but the next day we got there at open and they had it all! Amazing food, service, and ambience! You definitely need to try this place!

First time here so we thought we'd give it a go on our way to Olympia…read more About as authentic as you can get here on the mainland with regards to a Hawaiian plate lunch. Decor is Aloha flashy but tasteful, just like the ones that draw the touristy haole crowd on the islands. Food reminiscent of the hole in the wall/food truck type places on the North Shore that usually serve up the more authentic flavor. And service that is quick, efficient and helpful w/o being too superficial, hovering and always in your face. With regards to our visit, definitely that laid back island attitude. As for the food, ono grindz fo sure. Not all gourmet but will feed that need. As mentioned before, you order a meal and it comes with the standard grindz, like in Hawai'i. In my case, loco moco done right, with two burger patties, two eggs, and a side of Hawaiian mac, no extra charge. Kalua pork, with rice and a side of Hawaiian mac, no extra charge. Katsu chicken, with rice and side of Hawaiian mac, no extra charge. All seriously good grub yeah. Spam musubi, if you read my reviews, you know my musubi standards. This one definitely makes my good musubi list. The one thing I haven't run into in other places here in Washington that L&L offered, MALASADAS! Nice, fresh, warm, sugary, MALASADAS! Not the soulless impersonations offered up at the Asian buffets, or the fancy jelly filled exotic bakery types. Genuine, no frills, Hawaiian MALASADAS! It has been a minute since I've had one this good. Next time, this may be all I will be ordering. Regardless, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue will definitely get a return visit from this local boy.
