Had dinner here with a friend and would definitely be back. I had a platter with two pieces of fish, shrimp, clam strips and fries. I like the batter on the fish they used. My friend had a burger, and she enjoyed it. Friendly, patient waitress/server and she corrected an error quickly with no issues. There is a lot more seating than one would think just by viewing the front of the building. I drove past this place a million times and when I finally came here, I was surprised by how spacious it is. There's a bar in front and then two dining rooms. We were excited to dine here a few weeks ago; we like to plan our dining by reviewing menus and looking at pictures online. Had to really search since the website didn't provide much info. I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt like this place deserved it. I stopped in for a to-go order and had the garlic cream pasta with chicken, and it was packed with flavor. The chicken itself was a little on the plain side, but honestly, the sauce made up for it--it had a lot of depth and didn't feel overly salty or heavy. Overall, it was a 10/10 dish, and I'd definitely eat here again. I also had the chance to chat with (I believe) the owner while I was waiting, and he was so genuine and kind. He let me know they didn't have crab at the moment because of a tough season and rising market prices--which I appreciated the honesty about. It made me respect the place even more. Such good food should have great sauces. The fries are slender and we asked for crispy, but they were barely passing. -- The prices are nearly the same as Bennett's. Holy guacamole this place was great! The astonishingly beautiful green eyed hostess took my order and it was ready in 5 minutes! I had the cod and fries basket, to go. I wanted a picnic on the beach with my dog as a last meal for my trip to Ocean Shores I was put off by the price at first. I chalked it up to the cost of doing business these days. What I didn't know yet was I am paying for quality my friends! I used to be a fry cook back in the days. This was sooo gooood. Firstly the meal came with malt vinegar, ketchup, tartar (I'm pretty sure it's house made) and a real lemon wedge! Not lemon juice packet! Fresh lemon!! The fries were great - crispy and golden. They did not taste of fish so perhaps they use a separate fryer for the non-fish menu items. Now the fish. This was tempura battered fish. The breading was just enough to be crunchy but not overwhelm the fish. I tasted fish folks! Not grease, not breading, fish! I can't tell you how easy it is to overwhelm your fried fish with oil and breading. My hands and mouth were not an oil slick afterwards either. My guess is this was fresh, clean oil. I beg of all the fry cooks out there: change your oil regularly. Filter your oil at least every other day. This makes a huge difference!! This place has been voted best fish in Ocean Shores multiple years in a row and I can see why. Please stop by if you're in the area. Support small businesses!! read more

We decided to try Mike's for lunch. It's a decent place with a good sized dining area. It's decorated in a nautical theme of course. We were all alone after 1230. I ordered the Crab Louie and there was a good amount of Dungeness on the salad. It had cucumbers, olives, diced tomato, and a half boiled egg on the side with Thousand Island of course. Mrs Billy D had Fish and Chips and a salad. I enjoyed the Louie. Getting one always makes me wonder why I don't do that at home. I really should. Our guy was most likely the cook as well. He was the only person working I think. He was nice and from our conversation I surmised he was probably the owner. We tried vodka oyster shooters. I'm not an alcohol shot kind of guy and enjoyed the oyster and cocktail sauce but could have done without the stream of fire down my throat. Oh well lesson learned. My husband and I were in Ocean Shores for the weekend and we both really wanted crab legs. We found Mike's Seafood and it advertised king crab legs on the building, so we decided to give it a try. Well, we're on a budget and market price for crab was insanely high. Instead, we chose a grilled salmon dish and a cup of clam chowder. The salmon was lovely. It had crispy edges, was flavorful without getting in the way of the fish, and it came with smashed red potatoes and sautéed zucchini. It was a great plate of food. However, the chowder. Oh. My. Goodness. I am from the Pacific Northwest, born and raised. I have had tons of chowder in my life. But absolutely none of it compares to Mike's. He is a master artist among chowder creators. I loved it so much that I wanted to cancel my impending salmon dish and just order several cups more of the magical elixir. You must try it. I will return to Mike's every time I go back to Ocean Shores. Hell, I might make the 2.5 hour drive just to get chowder. It's that good. Try Mike's, you won't be disappointed read more

The food here is completely overpriced even for Ocean Shores. I almost didn't try Mikes because of all of the mixed reviews on Yelp, but my curiosity to find out what the place and food was like got the best of me. When I pulled up to the restaurant, there were no other cars there which almost made me turn away, but I went in anyways. No one else was in the restaurant when I got there, and I was greeted by the one server there. He was pleasant but nothing special to report there. I ordered the razor clams which came with potatoes and zucchinis. Like many other people who mentioned this on Yelp, they used way too much cooking oil on everything, and it all just came off as super greasy. It's like the the cook doesn't get that you just need a little oil to cook food, and it doesn't need to be drowning in it. Also, the menu described the potatoes and zucchinis as being cooked in Mike's special blend of spices which I'm pretty sure is Old Bay or some home made version of it. I would give the food 2.5 stars, but the reason that I dropped the overall rating to 2 stars is that the food here is outrageously overpriced. Especially for what you get. The razor clam dish was $32 which is more than the last menu photo that someone loaded onto Yelp. This came with one breaded razor clam although it was a large one. I don't believe in pointing people to other businesses in Yelp reviews, but let's just say other folks in town charge a lot less for their razor clams, give you more than one razor clam with the order, and tastes better. Try this place at your own risk. I wouldn't go back here and certainly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Personally, I think that the food throughout Ocean Shores is overpriced and mediocre, but this place raises the bar in overpricing for not so good food. read more

There are limited dining options in Ocean Shores. We reviewed the menus in advance and thought the whiskey sauce salmon sounded good. The fish was fresh. We were not impressed with the clam chowder. Customer service was great, our server was very attentive. It was amazing how quickly the food came out, fastest we've seen in any sit down restaurant that's not "fast food". Even more astounding was how quickly the customers chowed down their food. We are not fast eaters (not slow either) and several ppl came in after us and left before us! This was an ok stop in ocean shores. We shared the clams which were really tasty. I liked the light lemon garlic sauce. I sampled the clam chowder which was decent. I had the whiskey BBQ salmon. It was decent. It was definitely a big piece of fish. I naively thought it would be a glaze but it was literally just BBQ sauce from a jar poured on top. It came with potatoes and zucchini. I sampled the big razor clam and it came with the option to get rice, don't be fooled and think it's a rice pilaf or something along those lines, it was literally just white rice. If you are hungry for Razorback clams.... DO NOT GO HERE. Learned they are not in season until July which means....I ate frozen & re-nuked. No wonder the re-purposed entre lacked any taste or flavor & shrimp cocktail as mediocre. No sweetness or flavor & even drowning them in cocktail sauce did not save them. Red potatoes were way way overcooked to the point of being mealy. Note to chef...to only sprinkle a little Cajun salt on the zucchini when it deserved better....thoughtless. Three stars might be a bit generous. Our server was charming, the chowder was delicious and our veggies were fresh. We each ordered salmon: my grilled salmon was a bit overcooked and really needed some salt, pepper and perhaps fresh lemon juice. (Adding a lemon wedge to the plate wildebeest been a great touch!!) His Louisiana Whiskey salmon was essentially slathered with sauce after cooking. Enchanting the sauce was good, it didn't add moisture or flavor as it would have if they had marinated the fish first. Zucchini was the side veggie, which was fresh. And could've been grilled and seasoned a bit more. I'm thankful it wasn't overcooked or fried though. Stopped in for cod and chips, shrimp basket and 2 bowels of clam chowder to go. Just skip this place, my first red flag was that it will be ready in 5 minutes. Fry's were about a half order on each the cod and shrimp, they were warm and soft. The cod was ok, definitely not hand breaded in house, unless you live in a restaurant supply house. The shrimp were the popcorn variety, hard to screw them up. Two bowls of chowder, man it was bad, a few pieces of clam, some potatoes but mostly a gelatins mass of goo. My grandma, daughter and I stopped in to Mike's Seafood while we were in town because we had stopped in many times in the past when we came to Ocean Shores to visit. However, this time not only was Mike himself rude to my grandma when she asked him a simple question, but the entire experience was awful. The menu was full of stuff that was extremely expensive, so you can guess how upset we were when we got our food and it was not even good. I ordered clam chowder, which I had to send back due to it being cold and full of flour lumps. My grandma got the fish and chips, which was covered in more breading than fish, honestly tasted like something you would get out of the freezer. My daughter got a simple burger with only ketchup, same thing, if I was to guess, it came right out of the freezer. $18 for a burger she said tasted freezer burnt. On top of that, the restaurant itself was dirty, outdated, and looked like the owner just doesn't care. The entire experience was upsetting and I absolutely cannot recommend this place. read more
