This is a popular place in Ocean Shores for casual seafood fare. I had a couple problems with it though. I wanted beer battered fish & chips, and halibut is my favorite. At Bennett's they have both cod and halibut. Unfortunately for me they only batter their cod and if you want halibut you have to have panko crumbed. The person behind the counter where you order said they prep ahead and they couldn't put the batter on halibut. I also just wanted water as that's my favorite beverage. She told me I couldn't have a regular glass of water with ice. I had to buy it in a bottle with their name printed on the label. It felt like a way to wring yet more money out of their customers. I much prefer generosity to stinginess. It just put me off from the beginning. The cod was fine. But unlike most restaurants when you get fish & chips, there was no coleslaw. All that was on my plate was part of a limp lettuce leaf for a poor excuse of a garnish. We had 2 veggie wraps and a fish sandwich in our party as well. Everybody liked their food well enough. My daughter really liked her fish sandwich. I eat out a lot and Bennett's cutting corners and lack of generosity is unlike the vast majority of restaurants I've been to. I have no desire to return. My mother-in-law lives in Ocean Shores and had suggested the Thai place. Guess we'll go there next time. read more

About four years ago we had dinner at Bennett's while staying at Ocean Shores. We have been looking forward to a return visit. I enjoy their seafood while my wife enjoys the prime rib sandwich. This trip she went with sandwich yet again and found it still very good. Plenty of prime rib, melted cheese, and tasty bun. The fry sauce was a good compliment to the fries. I went with a Cesar salad with a grilled salmon fillet on top. I was very pleased. The salad had green crisp greens, a couple cherry tomatoes and peppers, plenty of Parmesan cheese and a few croutons. The salmon was very good. Seasoned well, flaky, and was a pretty large fillet. I had the dressing on the side and added as I wanted. I have never gone wrong at either of the Bennett's location. Stop in and have a good meal. Both meals were about $25 a piece but tasty and large portions for both. read more

The food was average, had worse fish tacos. The fish and chips is NOT tempura, just breaded. You will get the same taste from the frozen section at your local grocery store. The only good item they have is the clam chowder. The service from the cashier on 8/18/26 around 1:20pm has a LOT to improve. The ambiance is good. While in Ocean Shores we asked some locals where to go for casual dinner. Three people mentioned Bennett's for the best fish & chips, which sounded great so we gave it a try. We arrived about 3:30 on a weekday and weren't hungry yet so went into the bar. It was packed with no tables available so we sat at the bar counter. The bartender was great! She was great at her job, making drinks, taking orders, keeping the counter clean all the while with humor. Our margaritas were great. When you first walk into the restaurant there is an area where you order the meal yourself from the menu provided. The meal is then delivered to your table. When we were ready to eat I started to get up to go order food, but the bartender offered to do it for us, which she isn't required to do as part of her duties. My friend and I shared a cup of clam chowder and an order of fish and chips, both of which were excellent. The fish was very fresh with light breading. All in all, a great late afternoon. read more

Ordered the crab grilled cheese, fish and chips and two drinks left at 15% tip, total was 70$, got our drinks from the fountain, two separate sodas in the machine were out of flavor (prickly pear and blackberry) Sat down at an open table, waited for our meal, the place was so loud that my husband and I were hardly able to enjoy ourselves. Didn't wait long till we got our food, Our waitress didn't even speak to us when we were brought our food, the crab grilled cheese was inedible. the menu did not say it came as like a crab salad, with what I assume is way to much mayo, onions and celery. I hate to say it, but pretty disappointing. We had the Fish and Chips and Clam Chowder. Fish was overcooked, dry and somewhat bland. Beer batter would have been a lot better instead of panco. Clam chowder was definitely made in house but was was very bland. Even after adding salt and pepper it was still bland. Tarter sauce and cocktail sauce came in a container. Cocktail sauce was almost solid and was not dipable even after trying to stir it with my fork. Bathrooms were too small for number of customers. The oyster shooters had the biggest oysters Ive ever seen, we ordered two sets. The margaritas were perfectly blended. The clam chowder was loaded with clams. Bennett's Fish Shack is the kind of local spot you hope never changes. The halibut and chips were hands-down the best I've ever had -- perfectly cooked, flaky, and fresh without being greasy. The crab melt with cranberry salad was outstanding too, a great balance of rich and bright flavors. Even the details were dialed in: the Seattle soda (root beer and diet cola) was the best soda I've had in a long time, and somehow even the ketchup stood out -- it honestly tasted like fresh tomatoes. You can tell this is a true local joint. There aren't a ton of people working, but everyone there is hustling -- cooking, cleaning, taking orders, keeping things moving. We were checked on to see how our food was, and one of the women even stopped to chat and offer additional recommendations, which made the experience feel personal and welcoming. A friend recommended this place to me and he was absolutely on point. I saw a few earlier reviews mentioning staffing issues, and maybe that was the case at some point -- but honestly, I don't care. I ask for any other hot sauce and he reluctantly pointed to a corner. I went up to set some hot sauce and there was none. I looked at other tables and they had none either. The blatant rush, including the "step aside until you know what you'd like", from the counter gals is super off-putting. There wasn't even anybody behind us!! The food, just like in all of our visits in the past, is great but highly inconsistent. Warm fries, cold fish, warm burger cold fries, hot chowder, lukewarm chowder, giant oysters, pieces of oysters all served to our table at the same time! Crazy!! The gluten free options always keep us coming back, I mean, not many places offer a gluten free wrap! I finished half, but discarded the other half. Our visit was on a dreary Labor Day week evening. We sat on the (semi-enclosed) patio as someone in our party brought their dog.
