I really enjoyed this wine tasting experience. It's small, tucked away, and was my favorite wine of the day! Their petit Syrah was a special hit! Most tasting space is outdoors. They have a mix of seating and would be good for a hot day because they have a lot of shade from mature trees. You cross a creek by walking across a bridge to get to the tasting room, which gives it a real entrance. We had a great server. This place felt unpretentious but high quality. Winery has a really nice setting, fairly small, but a nice shaded outdoor area. The wines are on the high end for Paso, with bottles ranging from $50-100. The price of the tasting at $20 is reasonable compared to the cost of a bottle, though there reds did not stand out amongst some alternatives just down the road. That being said, they WILL NOT honor their yelp check in offer. What got me is how the handled it when presented with their own offer... We've been once before, but noticed the offer this trip. When we showed up at first they told us "oh you probably won't have service to check in" then when we showed the offer checked in (when we still had service), that switched to "we have never seen that kind of offer before" and that they'd check with a manager. The manager said while a lot of people ask, they aren't honoring these during COVID. I can completely understand that, so then why has it been active for months now? Unlike paper coupons, a yelp offer that's active (combined with how they reacted to it) led me to leave feeling like it was a clear bait and switch. They can contact yelp to end the offer (in fact, checking in with yelp this promotion has been active for MONTHS and merchants can update them). Poor way to do business with promotions. When you have many great wineries in Paso all having the same hard time nowadays, experiences like that showcase negatively for Brecon. read more

Their shipping company shipped me wine on back to back 100+ degree days. This should have been resolved with a reshipment of the wine when the temps were reasonable, but their responses continue to try to place the blame on me for selecting the wrong carrier which their web site doesn't even default to when you place an order. Anthony was great in giving us a personable experience in tasting the wines. What a treasure to have someone sit down with you and share insight on the wine notes and smells. This made our experience delightful. The property is dog friendly and made our pup feel at home. The hygienic and social distancing precautions were adhered to. The property is nice, but the staff could be friendlier and more accommodating. Plan your trip accordingly as there is no cellular service for ride share / uber / Lyft. Wifi requires pleading and negotiating with the staff and is not very good. The charcuterie board is $25 but not very well presented from a plastic sandwich bag. Unfortunately we would not come back to Brecon and would not recommend it to friends or family either. read more

Oh man. We found our new wine club (they just don't know it yet). We came on a weekend with some friends and fell in love as we slowly walked across the bridge and came around the corner. Nice walkway, picnic tables, grass, games, and a pleasant entrance. We sat at a table on the balcony and were greeted very warmly by a super friendly girl who offered us menus and drinks. We got a flight to share. The food menu looked good with some charcuterie options there. The wines were all good, super good. Great crisp whites and some really good deep reds. We can't wait to go back, by ourselves, or with friends. read more

Brecon Estate has been on my list of wineries to visit for quite some time. Side note - if you're interested in my ongoing list of 'to visit' Paso Robles wineries check out my collections! I've been stalking their social, Yelp page, and a few Wine Enthusiast reviews of Brecon and knew that this was the place to visit with our bachelorette group. The lovely outdoor spot was what won me over. That combined with their award winning wines made it absolutely fantastic. We were able to eat our boxed lunches on the patio before tasting and were treated to a lovely view. We then began our wine tasting at a larger table down below by the bocce ball. All wines were lovely, but one that stood out was the '16 Meritage. Deep, dark, and ripe with complex tannins - this wine would be a lovely choice for any dinner party. In short, I'd be interested in visiting once more in a smaller group to check out the inside. But as a large group this is a perfect choice with plenty of insta-worthy photo ops! read more

10/10 If you enjoy quality wine and a good conversation visit this vineyard/winery. I went with my husband for the first time last year in 2020. I also visited one other time with girlfriends as part of a girls trip, also in 2020. I enjoyed it so much that the visit after this my husband and I decided to become members. Brecon has variety of grapes that you won't find everywhere and the wine is great. If you do a tasting you will notice as you go down the list the wines get better and better and this is why we opted to be members. My absolute favorite the Albarino! Ahhh, it's the perfect summer wine, something you can have alone or with a nice fresh salad or just with friends while out in the backyard. This year we bought 12 bottles of just whites! No regrets because each has been enjoyed or will be enjoyed. The location is beautiful, not to mention dog friendly!! The aesthetic is great for some great quality pictures and just classy. read more

We planned a full day of wine tasting looking for an amazing Cabernet Sauvignon. Since there's like 300 wineries in the area and we only had two days, Brecon didn't originally make our list. While we were at our first tasting, we had a little time kill on the way to our second, and asked our server where they recommended to go for the best Cab, and he said we HAD to stop at Brecon, and we got lucky that it was 5 min from stop two. When we arrived we didn't have an appointment, however there was only one other group there so we were happily greeted. Our server was a new woman who was adorable and so kind. She let us know that they had the oldest cab grape vines in the area (which if we knew that when making our first list would have put them at the first stop since that's the whole reason we came), however at the moment they did not have any cab tastings available. We still decided to taste since we had some time and she said she may be able to find something for us and my husband really wanted to try the cab before buying since it was an $80 bottle of wine, but in all honesty we would have bought it anyways. Tasting was good, I liked most that I tried and she was able to find a cab blend for us to try. She offered to get her tasting room manager so he could tell us more why the cabs were hard to find at the moment and with them having the oldest grapes why they don't lead with that or offer tasting. I was honestly just curious since being able to say you have the oldest vines could be a huge marketing tool. At this point we were having a pretty good time and where it all turned. The guy she brought just seemed to be annoyed by us asking, and said that the cabs in the Paso area were not good, and we should have gone to Napa for them. At this point my husband was upset as he was about to spend $80 on a bottle of cab and the manager just told him not to since all cabs in the area were bad and we wasted our vacation coming to the region, a vacation we take every year to Paso for cabs... The number of stars for this review is hard for me. As I enjoyed what I tasted, and our server did a great job with her being as new as she was, but how the manager talked to us turned everything sour to the point we will not be coming back. And we were going to buy the wine without tasting! And just to put my two cents in, to have an employee telling customers that their most expensive bottle of wine from the oldest grapes in the region is crap and to go elsewhere is mind blowing. read more

I discovered Brecon Estate a few years on a trip to the region and loved how friendly the owner was to guests - not to mention exceptional wine. During COVID, I became a wine club member and haven't looked back. I haven't had a bad bottle. But, I'm leaving the review now to thank Vanessa with their wine club for her recent great customer service. They truly keep a family friendly approach to their customers and I plan to stay a wine club member for the foreseeable future. We have an annual family Thanksgiving trip to Cambria, and we always plan a wine tasting day in nearby Paso. With all the hundreds of choices, we have consistently visited Brecon for the last five years because we loved the experience. They were super friendly, the wines were great, the grounds and tasting area are beautiful, and they had some cute and friendly winery dogs. Our cousin brought her dog several times, and she had a great time running around and playing with the others. to be honest, the dogs were part of the reason we kept coming back! This year was a bit disappointing. We didn't get that warm welcome when we arrived. The tasting fee had risen to $25. Not quite Daou prices, but a good jump nonetheless. I'm pretty sure it was $15 last time. Sure The fee is waived with a purchase (of TWO bottles), but there wasn't a bottle under $60 (what happened to the $40-50 bottles?). Our pourer was Frank who was very friendly and knowledgeable, and he walked us through some good wines, but none that I would consider paying $60-80 for. He explained that prices had gone up everywhere because of conditions, COVID, blah blah same story everywhere. However, just down the road at one of our other favorites Whalebone, prices were the same as they had been for the last few years, and they even had a holiday sale on top of our member discount! We were also told right when we got there that my cousin's dog had to be put in a leash and couldn't chase a ball like she had done the last 4 years. The same super friendly and well behaved dog that ran and played with their winery dogs the last 4 years. You can buy any of these Paso winery's wines online. The tasting is really about having a great experience and a fun day exploring, which should make you want to buy a few bottles while you're there. Brecon, it's been fun, but you have let us down and next year we'll try one of the other hundreds of choices out there. read more

Brecon was recommended to us by Trish at Chronic. The gastronomía has a lovely deck area with plenty of comfy seating. We were there on a Wednesday, served by a gentleman who said he only works there once a week. He was very accommodating when I tried to show him my Yelp check-in offer of a free tasting, but couldn't because there was no internet connection. "Don't worry about that, I got you covered" he assured. Started w/a refreshing Albarińo and continued with a flight of reds. All were very good. When I sneezed because of allergies, he proclaimed "the best thing for allergies is Syrah, it clears my sinuses." Okay, we'll go with that! read more

This tasting just missed the perfect mark in my book. However I did very much enjoy my flight. The tasting was $20 and most of the bottles did not match in price. Usually with a affordable tasting, I expect to see moderately priced bottles. Don't get me wrong, the wine flight was amazing, but the price of the bottles was above what I could pay. The service was great and the tasting area was very youthful. I'd come back for a tasting, but would be very hesitant to bring home bottles. read more

What a great find. We were entering when another couple was leaving. They claimed they had been tasting in Napa and Sonoma along with Paso and never joined a club. He said this is the one. I've heard that line before so we went in with an unbiased perspective. We started with the Albarino - fantastic, but our crew was more red wine lovers. I'm a Bordeaux fan which is hit and miss in Paso. We started with the Petite Verdot - excellent. Went on to the Cabernet Franc - one of my favs, then the Meritage and it just kept getting better. They were out of the Malbec, but one of the servers said they had 7 bottles in the back. I bought 2 without a taste. My friends were cracking up as they could see me motioning to join the club. Glad I did and now I'm ditching my Peju membership to make room (and I love Peju). What I loved about Brecon was the people, the unassuming personalities and the fact that they excel in Bordeaux wine. When I see reviews of wineries by people whose full point of contention is someone didn't put extra effort into their wine tasting experience by engaging in small talk it usually means that author is most likely socially inept or extremely needy. Wine tasting is an art unto itself. Showing up and demanding attention from a server who may be closing a sale with another customer is like the guy who shows up at a bar waiving his hand for service only to say something dip-shit worthy like "Oh what should I have?" Trust me they exist. Without a doubt one of the finest wine experiences I have ever had , beautiful grounds luscious wine and wonderful people. Friendly servers who were out-going and fun. This is one of the most beautiful parts of Paso. For those who are dead inside and don't like dogs, or can't be around them, don't come here, you will not be missed. I am not sure how one evolves into a souless cold psychopath who cannot connect with another living animal but rest assured they usually have baggage. The vibe of this place is upscale and chill which is enhanced by their totally awesome dog friendly policy. read more

We first heard of Brecon at the Santa Barbara Roar and Pour wine tasting event. We loved the pours and decided that the next time we were in Paso, we would have to check it out. When we arrived and started walking to the property, it almost felt like we were camping; not the dirty/roughing it feeling of camping, but the relaxing/nowhere to be feeling. As we started tasting, it quickly became clear that this was a place we would definitely be back to in the future. Brecen Estates is elegant inside and out. Their award winning Cabernet Sauvignon is indescribably delicious, refined and balanced. The grapes are from 50 year old vines referred to as Old and Gnarly. The artwork is beautiful, the landscaping is simple with fescues and manzanita, the people were charming. They even have a double plug in Tesla charger on site. My family and I went to the tasting room on May 11 around noon. As soon as we got there, we saw an unleashed adolescent German Shepherd. The woman who worked there told us that the dog liked children. It ran at my four year old son and jumped on him, scratching his face about a centimeter away from his eye. I think it should go without saying that untrained dogs should not be at a place of business or anywhere they might possibly pose a danger to people, but apparantly it doesn't. Neither of the women working at the time so much as offered as an apology. We left shortly thereafter. I can't speak to the quality of the wine there as I didn't try any, but I can speak to the safety of the environment they provide, the abysmal customer service, and the total disregard for the health and safety of a four year old child. read more

This place has amazing reviews, HOWEVER...my family and I drove 4 hours to arrive at a 4:30 pm, Saturday. We felt extremely rushed and even unwelcome. This is just some of it: Unfortunately, I did not know they close at 5. We were asked if we even wanted to finish our tasting...after the second round. They did not change out our glasses in between pours. We were promptly told to leave at 5:30 on the dot after telling us we could chill with the bottle we just bought and stay until 5:30.
