This establishment is trash. I ordered Rasta pasta and jerk chicken. they gave me Rasta pasta with cut up grilled chicken in it. When I told them that that's not jerk chicken and I didn't ask for the jerk the chicken inside my rice pasta. They tell me that you have to be pacific when you're making an order with them you have to tell them do not put the jerk chicken with the Rasta pasta. They have a takeout side and a sit down for dinner side, since indoor dining starts today in New York City, it was open. I used the takeout side and ordered the stew red snapper with rice and peas, Mac and cheese. It comes with plantains and cabbage, the fish was tasty, delicious and well seasoned. It's so unfortunate that I have to write this negative review. Let me start off by saying that the Chicken Soup and Calamari was amazing. The soup was tasty, fully flavored, a hint of spice and thick. The calamari was seasoned and the sauce was great. So here's the issue. While we were sitting and eating, we were encountered by a critter known as a roach. Sadly, it was an adult roach which means that it is possible to lay eggs. Once we saw the critter, we were no longer interested in finishing our food. Not to mention, the vast amount of fruit flies we were slapping from our food and faces. We didn't make a major issue of it, but we mentioned it to the waitress who then relayed the message to the manager. The manager finally came out but was reluctant on addressing the major issue. The manager killed the critter on the painting, with a tissue, and just said "sorry". To kill the critter, he asked us to move so he can kill the roach over the eating table. This was the hurtful part, especially since the waitress was way more attentive to the situation. Now, looking at Yelp, the establishment has been cited for violations prior to this review. I would suggest the establishment increase the frequency of their exterminator's inspection until the issue is fully handled. After a long deliberation between Robert (the manager) and us, he finally addressed the issue by removing the un-eaten food from the bill. Keep in mind, it took multiple times of him coming to the table and a conversation of 20 minutes to determine his best actions. I don't want to write-off the establishment due to this one occurrence, but the lack of urgency and action was a major cause for concern. I hope that these MAJOR issues are addressed and management can learn, address, and deal with the patrons in a more empathetic manner. read more

The food is good here...but the Customer Service??? If I could give a negative 5 stars I would... While waiting for an order I noticed that one of the workers behind the counter was wearing her mask below her nose and mouth. When I nicely brought it to the attention of the woman that was behind the register seemed annoyed that I even mentioned it to her and gave me much unnecessary attitude about it. Ultimately she told me "well if you feel so uncomfortable about it you should say something to her". As the CUSTOMER, I shouldn't have to tell THE EMPLOYEE that they need to be compliant with current state health mandates, but I did...NICELY...ask the employee to put her mask on and she did...WITHOUT the nasty attitude of the woman behind the register. This place is a hidden gem. Aesthetically the outside does not due justice to the great ambience of the warm island vibes inside. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits along with the Lobster Rasta pasta. Now my family is from the south so i worried about the grits not coming out like the old southern style, but what a surprise. The shrimp and grits cooked to perfection covered with parmesan cheese. The rasta pasta was in a bowl fit for two topped with a juicy fried lobster tail. The customer service was impeccable. The cheif Sheldon gave A1 service making sure our meal was cooked to our spice preference and owner Robert was a gracious host. It had a sweet taste to it, and the jerk chicken chunks and shrimp had enough pepper to satisfy my soul! My mom said she enjoyed the mango jerk salmon, but will leave the asparagus out next time. When you really want to write a good review but can't. The take out spot is great. I've eaten from there several times. Because of this i knew the indoor dining would be just as good. Unfortunately on a quiet Sunday night it was not the case. We were supposed to go to The Door but i don't like eating at a restaurant 40mins before closing. It's just not right. So we came here as next best choice. We had to wait to be greeted no big deal. Jayda advises us to sit in the eating area. On dirty tables but she kindly wiped it after i told her it's dirty. I defo wanted fish. Fried/ steamed whatever but it had to be fish. I was craving it. So i asked how long would it take because our time is slightly limited depending on cooking time. She stated the escoveitch fish is the quickest out of the 3 fish meals. Ok no problem. Could take 20mins minimum but not more than 30. No problems there was time as we would still have an hour to eat after cooking time. We ordered two drinks, identical drinks. She comes out with one. So we asked for another. It took 20 mins for the other drink to arrive. In between this we were advised by the chef there was no pork left and we can have chicken. I'm assuming he couldn't find the server so he came and told us. No big deal 40mins later we had to ask an off duty employee (you could tell he was affiliated, because he was always back n forth) if the food would be appearing soon because we could never see the server Jayda. Eventually it came out and we asked for to go boxes straight away because we knew she would disappear again and our time is now shorter due to the wait. We asked to have breadfruit and Jayda asked if it was on the side or instead of rice. We both asked instead of rice if this was a possibility,she said yes. Cool bare In mind it would have only been $4 to add breadfruit but since i wasn't feeling to eat rice I'd rather not waste good food. We had to look for Jayda once again to get the bill. She comes and i notice the 2x $4 for breadfruit. If that's the case then where's my rice since im paying for it all. Jayda stated its an upcharge. But i tried to advise her the menu said extras /sides were $4 and had a list of items. She clearly didn't get it and thought she could just lie. Then i advised her that none of us got plantain in our meals and she apologized and said that was here fault because she forgot to tell us. So at this point i had to break down our whole dining experience and how dissatisfied i was with it all. She told me she's alone and has to work the whole place. So basically i should have compassion. I advised her i work in a hospitality role and would have been honest from the jump that you were alone. None of this is my fault, i work just as hard and would like last my hard earned money spent on things i can enjoy, so put your self in my shoes too. I asked where the manager was since she is so burdened and she said she doesn't know but not here. I said that's who you should voice your complaint with. So i asked for his name and the restaurants number. Jayda said she doesn't know it but if i search online i can find it. I said how about i look on the receipt and find it. There it was. So i clearly taught her something. So Robert is the managers name and i will be calling to speak to him. Defo eat the "to go"food from the shop on the side. Just don't waste your time and effort to eat inside. Another issue i had is, if two people order the same food make sure the quantity is somewhat equal. I'm really not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I found that the food was authentic, ambiance was great and the service was impeccable. Our server was super friendly and came to check on us ever so often. We got coconut water and she even left the expiration date on the bottle so we could see it was fresh. I apreciated that alot. I had the jerk shrimp and festival to start. My co-worker suggested this place and the festival to me. Said the festival was soft and melted in your mouth and boy he was not joking. That was the best festival I ever had. Shrimp was clean on both sides. My brother ordered the codfish fritters and they were very tasty. My main dish was the jerk chicken with rice and peas, cabbage and plantain. My bro had the oxtail with rice and peas. His oxtail fell right off the bone. First let me say I called to confirm their hours & the man I spoke to was very kind. Myself & my party of 6 were greeted in the take out area & directed into the main dining room. Our server immediately took our orders for drinks & soup or salad. Then appetizers, then main courses. I've never received good hospitality in a Caribbean restaurant until I went to Breezes. Every staff member that we dealt with was amazingly kind. My family ordered Pumpkin & chicken soups. They went for it before I got pictures. We got henny wings, sticky wings & cod fish fritters. The fritters were so good we ordered another batch. The wings were good but pretty spicy. For my main I got the pasta with oxtails. I already had their oxtails via Uber eats but the pasta was great too. My mother told them it was my birthday. They played the birthday song over the loud speaker, brought me cake & sung. Loved everything about this place. My friend and I stopped in after work to grab dinner and some drinks. We had complimentary pumpkin soup which was amazing. Then for appetizers We tried the jerk wings also delicious. For our meal we both ordered the shrimp Pasta and was just amazed how delicious it was. They didn't skimp on the shrimp either which was great. Our server was Jada, very nice young lady that made the best drinks. The bill was also very decent so my experience here was just amazing. Placed an order for this restaurant through Ubereats. Waited 40 mins for Resturant to make order and an additional 15 wait for the delivery driver to receive the food and deliver it to me. Upon delivering the food, I noticed that the driver delivered the wrong order. I quickly called the driver and the driver explained that the Resturant gave himthat order and it was the only pickup he had. Upset and frustrated I had to drive to the Resturant (defeating the purpose of ordering off Ubereats) to get my correct order. Upon arriving at the Resturant, it was chaos. Crowded line to place the order, crowded area of multiple delivery drivers trying to pick up their orders, no wonder I received the wrong order. I spoke to the Manager behind the counter responsible for the ubereats orders and she asked me to return the wrong order that was delivered & told me that I'd have to request a refund through Uber & my original order was not there. She didn't really offer me a solution for not receiving my food so I requested to speak to a boss. The boss was very helpful, remaking the order himself within a timely manner to ensure I left a satisfied customer. Hopefully in the future this restaurant will ensure proper orders are being given to the drivers, especially when you have 3 people working on Uber orders. Despite the bad experiences in the past, I continue to try to patronize the Breezes because they are the closest restaurant to my home and the fool is usually good but ma'an is their Customer Service terrible. As a Business person myself, I understand the necessity of good Customer Service since they portray the first impression of the business. My latest experience is today Friday July 15th, 2021, I called the Breezes at (718)527-5012 and someone answered and said "please hold" and so I hold and hold and hold and more than twelve minutes later the person came back and asked to help me. I explained that I just wanted to see what soup was on the menu today and I was put on hold for more than twelve minutes. Any normal Customer Service Rep would say I am sorry or something to that effect but this young lady who said her name is Nashita or something close just said what soup they have today and hanged up.
