Brenda's has 4 locations, this one being the 2nd. After living 7 years in the general neighborhood and having ate at their Gessner location a few years back, I stopped in to this one earlier in the week, before making another visit to the Gessner location. I returned a 2nd time to this location, yesterday evening. The interior is your typical Fast Food Joint looking place and that's different than the original's look The place SHOULD be much busier than it is, despite the sketchy neighborhood it borders, on Bissonnet at Woodfair. Don't let the empty parking dissuade you from dining in, or doing takeout, including the drive-thru. It is perfectly placed, located as it is between the 59 & Beltway 8, but has the unfortunate fate of having a Pappa's as a close neighbor, a Whataburger near the 59, and a Popeye's near BW 8. 3 Metro Buses can be caught on the corner and the Westwood Park & Ride is an easy walk nearby. The counter lady was friendly. The menu is varied and the prices affordable. It is Open 24 hour 7 days a week. I had the Burger & Fries and the Pechuga De Pollo Chicken Breast Burrito both of my visits, doing takeout. All very tasty and recommended. I will return to try other items on the menu. read more

If I could give this place no stars, then I would! DO NOT EAT HERE. My family and I ( my dad, husband and 2 year old daughter ) ate here on a Sunday night , we ALL woke up with food poisoning. My daughter has been non stop throwing up for the last week, 6-8 times a day. We took her to the doctor after the 5 th day due to her finally getting a fever, and they told us she has food poisoning. I had non stop stomach pain and horrible bowel movements because of this restaurant so does my father and my husband and it has been over a week. It was very quiet when I went in on Saturday night at 8. I live very close and it's usually quiet. I order a beef fajita chimichanga dinner to go. It took about 10-15 minutes for it to come out. I got a chicken chimichanga instead of beef, BUT it's delicious! I'm actually glad I got chicken. The Horchata is very good. A good amount of spice to it. Came here for a late night snack. There was an "open sign" so we went through the drive through, and they had closed the blinds. We thought okay maybe drive through is closed. We saw somebody waiting outside knocking on the door. I asked him if the door was Locked. He says yes but he sees a guy in there cooking and a lady doing nothing. I'm confused how you still have haven't open sign on but locked the doors and not serving anybody. The worst! I believe they are 24 hours, with the doors locked! This place is a pleasant surprise, cheap good food just what you'd expect from a late night Latin restaurant but the waitresses speak really good English. I tried the chicken breast burrito and a barbacoa taco on flour. The burrito was just okay, chicken was cooked well but lacked flavor, it was filled out with the usual stuff lettuce, tomatoes, beans, sour cream but I was disappointed it didn't have any Spanish rice. I had to add their salsa to give it more taste. The barbacoa taco was phenomenal!!! The meat was hot, really juicy but had hardly any of that greasy oil dripping out that you usually have when eating barbacoa. Onions were a nice white color and perfectly crunchy, cilantro looked fresh and clean. I highly recommend trying this! The chips and salsa they had are fantastic, that GREEN SAUCE is on point!!! It's creamy with just the right amount of kick that sneaks up on you. I did not try the red sauce because I was too busy swallowing the green sauce. Prices for everything are very reasonable and the overall restaurant vibe is clean with that typical Latin feel. Their Tacos and Horchata Drinks always grab my attention to always return because I'm satisfied with the taste of the food and it's filling and service of the folks at the driver thru window. There is different folks each time but they are all sweet kind and ready to take your order. They are also nice to take your order over the phone if you like to call in ahead of time to get your order prepared. OVERPRICED!!! For 4 tacos with no lettuce or tomatoes add cheese sour cream grilled onions and cilantro was 14.07 and NO DRINK. You would do better at a real taco truck where your tacos would include beans on the side and cheese. read more

I love reading a bunch of reviews that refer to an area as sketchy, it usually means i'm in the right place, and I can get something that hasn't been watered down for a non-sketch customer base. This is right next to my job, so I go here fairly often. Ambiance - it's a taqueria Clientele - Everyone and their mother comes here. Service - very nice and super friendly Parking - I've never not gotten a spot, but there isn't a whole lot. The food - Tacos Al Pastor - It's fairly good, well spiced, but no hint of Pina - Tacos Chorizo - Good - Tacos Barbacoa - very good - Nachos - Heavy, very heavy. You get a lot of melted cheese, guacamole, lettuce, meat. - Salsa - red is mild and the green is hot.(it's not Ghost chili hot, prolly a few steps up from Tabasco/Texas Pete's) Pretty standard for Mexican spots, but the exact opposite of what gringos like myself expect. Though the restaurant is in a sketchy area, the guy working the night shift was super nice and the food is amazing. The food comes with complimentary chips and salsa - which are delicious - if you dine in. The pastor taco was amazing - probably the best seasoning I've had on pastor. The barbacoa was pretty good too. I'd definitely recommend trying it out. It's probably one of the best taco joints in Houston. I'd also like to add that I'm not a fan of torchys. I was about to give them a three star review because of one bad service experience but given that in my short 2 week trip to Houston I visited 4 times then who are we kidding? The food is good Mexican stuff. Not gourmet but more like fast kitchen but still authentic. They have pretty busy karaoke nights and are open 24 hours! Food wise I recommend their gorditas and if you're looking for menudo that too was pretty good. Their tacos were great...my favorite was their Barbacoa tacos...with beans on them :) my boyfriend got the garlic shrimp platter and my sister got the fajita quesadilla. This is a decent place. I'm not a huge fan of their chips and salsa, a little watery for my tastes. The first time I visited I had a huge sandwich which was just too much food and a little greasy. RUDE SERVICE: Ok so I'm pregnant and barbacoa is my favorite. I looked up this place and thought it looked good and I get there and they have a sign on the doors saying you can't use the restroom unless you are a paying customer which is fine because I drove 15 min to this place, so obviously I really wanted to eat there but I had been in the car for a long time before that So I go into the restroom and they are gross and there's no toilet paper, no soap, nothing. So I go to the woman at the register and informed her I was going to get something but I needed to use the restroom first and asked if they had toilet paper and she informed me I had to order first. I told her I'm pregnant and been in the car for a long time I don't know what I want yet I've never been here and offered to leave my phone with her so she knew I was going to stay.
