What an absolutely fantastic experience. Walked in and was immediately greeted by a guy that appeared to be in charge. Owner perhaps? Place is clean and well organized. Not a very organized spot for what you expect on Long Island. There just isn't any flow in the order process so it's a free for all to the counter wondering who has ordered and who hasn't with no employees directing customers. Bagels are big and pretty decent. Skimping a bit on the toppings. Very odd that the jalapeño used for their cream cheese is pickled so you get a sour vinegar flavor in every bite. Not good. Prices are a bit in the higher side. $8.50 for a cream cheese bagel and small coffee. Service just blah overall. Egg sandwiches I have had in the past were solid. Place gets crazy busy on the weekends so expect a wait with above mentioned lack of organization. read more

Every few weeks I treat myself with a bagel with lox, onion, tomato and cream cheese for lunch. Yesterday I went to Brendel's to place my order. The attendant told me tomato and onion is extra and charged me $17 and change for this. $17 and change! I realize lox may have increased in price, but $17 for a bagel with lox? A few weeks ago I could swear it was $12. (which I thibk is still too expensive) I see many reviews saying the prices are high at Brendel's. I now agree totally. Stopped in this morning after an early trip to the mall. Place seemed pretty clean and staff was quick and friendly. $21.75 for tuna salad on a flagel, a small iced coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. Definitely pricy. Long Island is buggin with their prices! My tuna came with a small potato salad and a pickle. The potato salad was very sweet but I liked it. The tuna I picked had apples and craisins in it. This is an ok Deli. The location is pretty good and it's really convenient to get some breakfast before heading out. A few times during my orders the cashier doesn't write down the items of my order and gets a few things wrong. The coffee is ok but it is expected as it is Deli coffee. My favorite item on the menu is either the number 13 (chicken avocado wrap) or their BEC sandwich. The burgers here are actually not too bad as long as you get it medium. The place is decent and can sometimes get busy in the morning and lunch times. Would recommend calling ahead and picking up as you will have the most luck getting your food fast. read more

Brendel's bagels are a Happauge institution - where do you go for green bagels on St. Patty's day? Or orange and black for Halloween? Well, Brendel's will never let you down. I especially love their unique cream cheese flavors, and the fact that they are never out of stock of fresh bagels at any point is wonderful. The only reason why I gave 4 stars? There is such a thing as too many choices, and I feel that it's incredibly overwhelming to take in every choice, every option, and every possibility without being called to have your order taken. A lot of the menus also cycle between different images so you may see something that catches your eye, but is not present when you're actually ordering. I have been fascinated by their many options, but usually end up ordering a toasted egg everything with olive cream cheese. If I could give zero stars I would. We have been coming here for years since it's so local to our home. Every experience we have had has been mediocre at best but we keep eating here due to mere convenience. Today this ends. We will never come back The staff is extremely rude and unprofessional . They are too busy rubbing other staff members backs rather than preparing the food with accuracy. Today, I ordered a sandwich that was on display in their case, it was a special not on the menu. I ordered it . I get it and it's on a completly different type of bread and missing ingredients. I bring it back up to them and immediately get an attitude. She takes the sandwich away without saying a word. When she comes back she states it's supposed to come on a croissant not panini bread. So I asked why it was on display differently and how would I know it comes on a different bread if it does not say it. She doesn't really have a proper response and says " well that's the way it comes" very rude and acting as if I'm an idiot . Open the sandwich and the lettuce was heated up which was gross and the avocado was half a slice . I took the lettuce off and ate the sandwich because there was no management to be found. Pretty standard deli, nothing too crazy or special about it. This is my go to spot for bacon egg and cheese sandwiches. The breakfasts come with a cup of coffee or water/orange juice which is nice. The prices here are a little high for my liking but nothing too crazy; it's about $7 for a BEC. There is a good amount of indoor seating, even during the pandemic, which is nice to have. The service here can be slow at times when it is busy, but there's not much anyone can really do about that. Definitely order over the phone in advance if possible to avoid the long line during lunch time. Overall, this is a pretty standard deli that you can't really go wrong with. read more

Today around 10-10:30am on 4/26/25 I had the worst customer experience because of the old, fat and bilingual woman wearing green pants. I was told her name is Marilyn but the manger said her name is Cindy. It wasn't enough that she gave me a very nasty attitude 1, 2, or 3 times. She just had to keep going even more. I informed her that I don't care for her attitude and I planned on talking to the manager. Not because of her, because the orange haired girl gave my girlfriend the wrong order a week ago. So we came back today for the free sandwich that the manger offered us. If it wasn't for that, we would have left because it took them over a half hour to make a panini and breakfast platter. So once I told the woman wearing green pants that I wanted to speak with the manager, she stopped caring about our order claiming "he doesn't want to talk to me" and skipped over us to the point where all of our food went cold. They claimed that they were waiting on the potatoes for the breakfast platter. But every single part of our entire order was cold, including the potatoes. I have cooked for a living for most of my life and I still couldn't get over this terrible woman, my girlfriend was also extremely upset with her food. You would think that this woman owns the place because of how slow she moves. The manager was great but the staff working the cashier have a lot of room for improvement. The good menu is not worth the terrible customer service. I still cannot believe this woman was giving me a nasty attitude when I wasn't even talking to her at a certain point. I struggle to understand how this woman even has a job working with people, anywhere. I planned on ordering breakfast for 2 every Saturday and Sunday for the foreseeable future here. But we've worked hard for our money and don't like spending it on headaches and cold food that should be hot. I hope this place prospers. Service: Slightly flustered. I usually get my SEC sandwich on a Kaiser Roll but they didn't have any. So I asked if they had English muffins, but they didn't know if they had any. Food: SEC on Everything Bagel - Equal sized. It is important to me if the sausage is a patty v links. Some people might not care but the links do not give a good coverage on the sandwich and they would easily roll/fall out. Luckily this place has patties. It is also very important to me that all items within the sandwich match the size of the bun so you can have the perfect bite every time. This place is good at that too. I went to 5 bagel stores this morning ing.. forat 4, no masks and all preparing food..at counter and in back with breakfast. When an establishment blatantly disregards the law, it makes you wonder what other health laws they are disregarding. This was our gonto place. Never again, they lost good customers. First thing we ever ordered was their lox bagel. Everything was fresh and really delicious. I have also had their decaf and flavored coffees. I have to say that it was really fresh and tasted good. I love sweets and have been looking for a place that makes good pastries and had not been able to find one. Well, this is local neighborhood favorite is the place for my taste buds. Bagels are fresh, hot, smothered with your choice of filling (egg sandwiches, cream cheeses, lunch salads, and exceptionally fresh #lox) , The pirates are moist and good balance of both fluffiness and sweetness. This llace will definitely be my to go place for lox bagel. Parking is ample, right off Northern St parkway, the counter service, text service are fantastic. THIEVES??! First, let me start out by saying that the bagels are absolutely delicious now that that is out of the way but unfortunately the service is horrible. This morning I went in to order two sandwiches and four bagels and totally understood that it was a bit busier than usual but after waiting over 20 minutes for the order, the employee unfortunately fumbled a sandwich and it unwrapped. No worries accidents/mistakes happen. This is not the reason why I am writing this review I had no problems that she made a mistake. I just didn't feel the order was handled in a sanitary way and as a customer I decided not to take the sandwich. So asked the person to take that sandwich of the bill please. But it seemed that my request was not accepted well, she placed the sandwich to side of the cash register and charged me for the rest of my order. So I thought, when I reached my car I realized I was charged $25 for the order . So I decided to go back in and ask about the receipt. Fortunately, there was another employee there who overheard the situation that just occurred and said what is going on can I help you I explained my situation. So he took it upon himself to open the cash register and look for the receipt, the employee who helped me with still at the same register. All I heard was him state you charge him for that sandwich as she looked down at her feet. So the reason for this review has nothing to do with the quality of their food, but because they are thieves this person try to correct her mistake by charging me for a sandwich I did not have in my bag and was asked to be removed from the order, this employee tried to cover her mistake by stealing or maybe it was just another mistake. read more

Great bagels and a lot of pastries my only criticism is that sometimes they've forgotten about my order like I ordered and paid and the food just never came out so after waiting like 10-15 minutes I asked and they do the "oh right it's coming!!" and I only ever order like a single bagel toasted with nothing on it lol. So my advice is just keep tabs on your order otherwise the bagels are good, and there's a lot of pastries and things inside that they don't really advertise but they're huge. read more

I live in Boston part of the year and LA the other part. Neither place has anything even close to the wonderful bagels, pizza, crumb cake or deli sandwiches that NYC/Long Island have. Each time I'm on Long Island, I stop at a bagel shop and bring bagels back for all my friends. Brendels is always my go-to spot when I'm in the Smithtown/Hauppague area. The bagels are fresh, the crumb cake has that wonderful buttery/sugary topping and the pastries and deli are just like you'd find in NYC. In NY terms, 'Dey got dey shit togetha ... Ya hear me?' Today the guy behind the counter asked why I wasn't getting spread on the bagels I ordered. I told him I was heading back to Boston and bringing a few people a NY bagel. He snuck a few extra in the bag and gave me instructions on how to freeze them so I could enjoy them in between trips. What a great guy ... What a great establishment ... What a great country. Seriously, anything you get here is going to be fresh, tasty and 'New York excellent.' You can't get good bagels in MA or Los Angeles. (Their deli game is on point in LA though, I admit.) Many people might take a spot like Bredels for granted and bitch and complain about wait times or whatever. 'Fugettaboutit! You ain't gonna find any better bagels then dey got at Brendels.'
