For a coffee house, coffee was mediocre. First cup was lukewarm but they replaced it. Husband's was way too sweet. Breakfast sandwiches and pastries were good but not outstanding (when I read "made in store I assume better). Coffeehouse music imo should be subdued/background so you can read or work or have conversations- but it was blasting pop music. Not planning a return visit. read more

This is undoubtably the best place in Athens for coffee and desert drinks (Yes, better than Donkey). Their Frozen Cappuccino and Frozen Hot Chocolate are to die for and their smoothies are delicious as well. Their sandwiches, however, are a bit overpriced for their small size, but their bread is very good. Also I love their huge blueberry muffins! read more

Brenen's coffee has a special place in my knee replacement. I would say heart, but Ivan took that. Before I diagnosed myself with Allergic to coffee, I used to love coming here to read and spend time with Ivan. But this lovely time in my life was short lived, because this is where I found out that Ivan was cheating on me with the fourth sister. He used to always keep eye contact with me at the coffee table. It was very nice until he started looking up. I asked him to keep his eyes on me, but he would not stop looking up at the ceiling. Because of my neck arthritis, I couldn't look up to see what he was looking at. This went on for weeks until the accident. I got my coffee at the register (cream with some coffee.. ha ha get it). I dropped it because of my finger arthritis. Then I dropped my cream with coffee (ha ha get it) and I slipped. I fell right on my arthritis filled back. Laying on my back, staring at the ceiling, I finally saw what my husband has been looking at these past few weeks. I see a giant spider web with no one other than my sister Greta directly in the middle. She had used her webs to spell out love letters to Ivan on the ceiling. He was cheating while sitting right in front of me. He is a phony traitor. Brenen's cream with coffee (ha ha get it) is so yummy. read more

I have given this restaurant far too many chances, but they keep disappointing me visit after visit. First, the food: it's certainly not bad. It's nothing to write home about (other than maybe their baked potatoes and cookies), but it has a large menu of sandwiches that get the job done. It's conveniently located, reasonably priced, and the wi-fi even works most of the time. Now for the bad: don't even consider eating here in the evening. They seem to run out of food almost every day (most often soups and baked potatoes), but in my experience they rarely, if ever, change the outdoor or indoor signage to reflect this. Once, I ordered a Caesar salad, only to be told later that they were "out of them, unless you want us to make one for you." Why, yes, imagine that, me having to wait for a non-pre-made salad! Finally, they don't serve baked potatoes on the weekends, though this fact is stated nowhere on the menu in store or online. Again, let me reiterate that the food isn't bad, but the frequent inavailability of it has left a sour taste in my mouth. If you live here, sure, why not give it a shot. If you're just visiting Athens, however, I'd recommend that Brennen's be at or very near the bottom of your list. read more

Brenen's is the perfect place for a quick lunch. Similar to a fast-casual type of restaurant. I came in for a cup of coffee for the first time and now I go their every Tuesday for lunch with my friend Julie(who I met at book club). They have a chalkboard out front that is always covered with a catchy phrase that is always good for a quick laugh every time I see it. It would be a 5, but it is a tad bit pricey. I definitely feel that it is worth the money and it isn't surprising to me that they have a great rep around campus. read more

The veggies are always brown and/or slimey, the cookies and muffins are always burnt, and the drinks have loads of grounds in them. If you're looking for a coffee drink Court Street Coffee and Donkey Coffee are much better options. If you're looking for lunch then I would recommend Bagel Street Deli over Brenan's any day. read more

I come here for lunch all the time! The sandwiches and soups are pretty great! There's no reason to go to Subway when you have a fresh, local deli like this. They have great selection of breads, and lots of sandwich options. They have a lot of seating, and although they do sometimes get a lunch rush, it's a great place to sit and enjoy lunch or study with coffee. Free wifi! My only complaint is that sometimes it takes them a really long time (in my opinion) to serve food. I've sometimes waited 15 minutes to be served, and I feel like that's a long time for a cold-cut sandwich, chips & a drink! read more
