What a fall from grace. This place used to be a local gem and is now a shell of what it used to be. I'll happily switch to McCarthy down the block. I had a procedure scheduled that required taking pills ahead of time. They were called in, and I scheduled delivery. They never arrived. I called first thing in the morning and the person on the phone was apologetic. I rushed over to get the pills, only to find the bottle says they need to be taken 12 hours before the procedure, which was now two hours away. When I asked the woman at the counter what happened, she blatantly lied, telling me they'd tried delivery but needed a door code. When I explained this would cost me a $200 cancellation fee on the procedure, she gave me the most phony "sorry about that." Good riddance. Shit happens, but I don't need a condescending attitude on top of an already stressful situation. read more

My review is simply to say how wonderful Brent Air Pharmacy, and its founder, Harold Lassoff were to the teens of Brentwood in the 1980s. He would hire local tween kids for part time gift wrapping jobs, paying $3 an hour (late 70s era), offering fun, part time jobs for the local youth to earn a few bucks over holiday periods. I later worked at Brent Air for several years at the front 'cigarette' counter. I recall cigarette packs were .75 cents. My brother was an old school, hand delivery driver for the pharmacy, often delivering to famous celebrities that lived nearby. Patrons of Brent Air would put their purchases on a personal account, and walk in, and simply say 'charge it' to which we would manually write up the receipt. "Charge it" was a way in which celebs and locals could walk in the store, grab their items, show to the clerk, and say 'charge it to my account.' Credit cards were around then, but this was a personal touch Brent Air offered to local families with 'accounts'. Brentwood families that would frequent Brent Air in the early 1980s were Harrison Ford, OJ, Marcus Allen, Fred MacMurray family, Riordan family, Getty family, Doug Henning magician, Wilt Chamberlain, and all the local families and celebrities that lived in Brentwood, a residential haven for the entertainment industry. There were no CVS or Longs big chains at that time. Harold was a funny, sometimes grouchy owner, but a great boss, and his wife Grace was a lovely woman that would take care of the upstairs gift shop. This is being written during the devastating Palisades fire, which is causing me to reminisce on the good days of Brentwood and Palisades. Brentwood was a fabulous community to spend my childhood, riding a bike all over, and in those days the teens would take RTD bus #76 to Chataqua Blvd. and walk down to State beach. The good days! Bellagio Elementary school, Paul Revere and Pali High are also great memories and the schools I attended. Brent Air Pharmacy has been there a long time, many newer residents may not realize the many jobs that the young residents of Brentwood had at Brent Air - it was amazing that Harold would pay a 13 year old (yes, with parents permission) to wrap gifts during Christmas and Hanukkah times. We were so happy to earn those few bucks as young teens! My last visit to Brent Air was in 2018, and the store had not changed one bit. How things can change. I decided to talk with the owner and hear his perspective of what was happening. I also called several wholesale distributors of pharmaceuticals to these smaller pharmacies. What I learned is that in an effort to run the smaller companies out of business the larger companies have been insisting on exclusives on certaIn medications so the Mom and Pop pharmacies cannot even get them! Tell me the next person running for President and claiming he or she is going to do so much for small business and for helping us with our pharmaceutical cost in this country! The big guys are not trying to run out the competition so they can charge us less! I have used this pharmacy for 6 years. It was recommended for their personalized service. Has no customer service, has an attitude in her communication, just doesn't know to communicate. After the pharmacist couldn't find my insurance with my address not sure why but that's a different issue he said "Well idk what to tell you". It's not that he didn't find my insurance it's just how he responded. There's so many other ways to respond. at the end I paid for my medication cause I needed it. Our dental surgeons office sent the husband of a patient to pick up a prescription she had major oral reconstructive surgery and the pharmacist was a JERK!!!! He would not fill the prescription even though it was done electronically. This nasty person made up a story that said the patient had to show an ID to get the medication. THIS IS NOT TRUE YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE THE PERSON ON THE RX TO PICK UP A RX, THAT WHY ITS DONE ELECTRONICALLY! We used to send all our patient to this pharmacy not anymore!!! These absolute cowboys screw around with the way your doctor wrote your controlled prescriptions and then blame you for their misunderstanding-- a very dangerous attitude for everyone involved. They were openly and loudly hostile to me for being transgender as well, which I suspect was a big part of why they thought I would be an easy target for malfeasance. Absolutely do not go here; any modern pharmacy you could pick at random is better equipped and with a more competent and pleasant staff (believe it or not). The worst experience. Not only did the delivery driver give me the wrong medication but when he realized his mistake it he left his car on in my driveway which drove through my garage and into my new car. They could have killed someone with the medication mix up alone and also if they had hit someone The owner was rude and unapologetic. I don't think you will find a better pharmacy in Brentwood. They know their customers. If you run into an issue they will always try to help. This is a small family business With the kind of customer service you can only get in one. The other day I had to ask them to go out of their way for me, details don't matter. There isn't another store of any kind I have been to that would react so generously and graciously. If you have ever only been to a chain pharmacy like CVS you're in for a lovely surprise. Pick up yur rx, get coffee and a muffin, or lunch. Relax for a minute. Just to add I have never had s problem parking. They're across the street from Starbucks at Barrington and Sunset and there are a few street spots that turn over constantly as well as two metered lots on either side of Barrington and street parking on South Barrington Place. read more

Terribly unethical. And, after I post this(because I just need to vent here because I'm so annoyed!) I am going to report them to the state board of pharmacy. Here's the story. I called Brent-Air yesterday to ask if they had a medicine in stock. My pharmacy, didn't have it and it was back ordered. They said, " let me check the fridge and confirm...yes we have it" Great! I then have the prescription transferred to them. I go in, this morning, at 10:00 to fill it. They tell me it will cost me $2500 out of pocket. I then explain that I have a coupon and my insurance does cover it. I stand at the counter for over an hour, with my insurance company on the phone, fixing the problem. At 11:20, it all gets approved-copay $25. I let the pharmacist know that it was all approved. She says... "We no longer have the medication, sorry" So they have it if you pay cash at $2500 but if not, they don't! Terrible and unethical. Ok...now that I have told everyone. I will now report them to the state board of pharmacy and let them take if from here. read more

Hi everyone, last week my wife got her booster vaccination. Today I got mine. After visiting Brent Air Pharmacy, I was extremely impressed & touched by the manner that alll their patients were treated. Two standouts were Marisa& Sarah who's one of the pharmacists. The elderly patients got the help that they needed while eveverthing just rolled along smoothly, like a well oiled machine. Cute sundries, wide selection of skin care products. I have a colicky , refluxy 3 and half month old baby who barely sleeps during the day . Not sure when was the last time I got out of pajamas , I've been so exhausted and forgetful about everything else that is not related to my daughter, including calling for refills on my prescriptions . The pharmacist at Brentair called to let me know the prescriptions will be refilled and delivered as per my request. Truth is ...I would LOVE to get out of baby vomit covered tops and jump in my car for a joyride to pick up prescriptions, but that is a no go . I was definitely excited to see they have a whole display of Skinceuticals products. I wish I could give Brent-Air Pharmacy a minus 10 stars. SENIORS BEWARE. If you have Supplemental Insurance that covers your co-pay for prescription drugs, you will pay Brent-Air the co-pay (required) *and* the Insurance company will also pay Brent-Air Pharmacy your co-pay. And you will not be reimbursed - no! The owner will insist they *never* received co-pay monies from the insurance company. (But they sure did cash those checks.) In a letter several months ago, the owner told me: -- and this is a direct quote -- "After thorough investigation of the records... we did not find any payments to us to cover the co-payments..." So - he's just said their bookkeeping is not very accurate. In order to even get a partial payment, the owner of this operation demanded cancelled checks from the insurance company, which were provided. But I still have yet to receive the money owed. (This process has been dragging on for over a year.) Brent-Air Pharmacy is a scam of the highest order. That is not to say the employees are not very nice, accommodating and friendly. But it's the bottom line I'm talking here - money. I remember talking with the owner in early 2012 when I finally spoke person to person on the telephone regarding the double payment. The phone call was very cordial. He said, "We run a clean operation here..." Boy was I fooled. Don't you be. UPDATE: As I begin transferring prescriptions, I notice last month one of my prescriptions was charged as "cash" -- not run through my insurance, resulting in a $50+ overcharge. This has happened in the past, but I have to catch the error, write them a letter, include a copy of the receipt and all my insurance information (again) before they'll credit it back. Since I started compiling this information, it is interesting that starting Dec 2012, the pharmacy jacked up the co-pays -- in other words, charged me more than the what the insurance co-pay actually is. My absolute number one pharmacy. I have been shopping here since I was little. It's a neighborhood standby. The long term owners recently sold the store, and new owners have taken over which naturally means new changes. What I care about are the people who work here. Christine and Kathleen in the pharmacy are my life savers. If you ever need any vitamin or herbal supplement advice Kathleen is your girl. There are lots of gift options so you can get all of your pharmacy and drug store needs met and then pick up a gift for a friend or a magazine for yourself. There is a small wait for prescriptions but nothing like you'd find at say a Right Aid (sorry, not sure how to spell that.) You can always stroll across the street and pickup your favorite drink at Starbucks and by the time you're back, presto, your medicines are ready. My favorite thing about this store, hands down, is the very unique, and sadly disappearing-from-our-city makeup counter in the middle of the store. The women who work here are simply the best. They're friendly, patient, and endlessly helpful. I like them so much that I consider them friends and a visit here brings me more than just advice on face creams and makeup, but gives me a sense of connection and community. I just love these women and hope the new owners will value their invaluable customer service as much as we all do. Holidays are a great time to come in and pick up a last minute gift and believe me I do this all the time. I think I am addicted to this place and to how cared for I feel whenever I visit. They have delivery as well, which is so worth the small delivery charge. read more

If you have insurance why go anywhere else? Your copay is the same here as at any of the chain stores but with neighborhood friendliness and without the big lines and impersonal service. My family has been coming here for decades and we have always received top notch professional service and advice. No long waits on the phone or in person. They deliver. Friendly staff who have been there for years. Gifts, candy, basic supplies, and usually convenient parking. Behind the counter Sam is the best -- helpful, kind, cheerful, accommodating, anticipates needs, resolves difficulties, delivers results. Very displeased. Tried to start using local businesses on principle. Went in person for prior prescription and everyone was polite and helpful. Was going to write a positive review and compliment the service to the owner via email. Hadn't gotten around to it as i lead an exceptionally busy life. This afternoon I decided I would use them again. I was hoping to just make life easier and have a medication that I need to sleep delivered since I was hoping to still attend a non profit board meeting that I sit on. I saw my physician today in order to get the medication which I have missed for two days. I had him fax it in since i was so tired I have a tendency to misplace the prescriptions. I called via telephone around 4:15 p.m. to confirm that they had received the fax prescription and I was promised that my medication would be delivered tonight to my mailbox. I gave my credit card information and confirmed they had my mobile number and gave them the landline to ensure that if there were any problems that they called me. Its 9:50 p.m. they have been closed since 8:00 p.m. I just arrived home and there is no medication here for me as promised. I WILL NEVER EVER USE THIS PHARMACY AGAIN! The whole point of using a pharmacy like this is to make my life easier. Bu they just made it so much worse - I could have made it in to the pharmacy in person. I could have filed i at a larger competitor who is open 24 hours so I could have avoided traffic, made my board meeting and still picked it up this evening. I know the ownership doesn't intend for these things to happen but it reflects exceptionally poorly on a business that they hire people who promise things like extremely important medication and then fail to meet their promises or even call to inform of a problem. read more

Wow...for me it was like walking back in time, grand and probably hasn't changed much in oh say 40 or 50 years. When I was a kid ( a looooong time ago) we had a neighborhood pharmacy that sold the usual toiletries and school supplies along with medications, and though not as fancy-shmancy it definitely gave me chills of days of yore. When we stepped through the doors this place was iconic inside, with it's huge circular staircase that encompassed the inside counter in the center. Sweeping you up to the second floor (should have checked that out). All those purfumes and glass objects in the heavy glass counters in the center of the store ever so elegantly protected by that dramatic stair. Now I only mosey on into the pharmacy to purchase something to kwell my unfortunate post stomach flu symptoms, so I could eat my first meal in three days at a delicious Italian restaurant across the street. And I will say for what I purchased (that will remain nameless) it was quite pricey. But it was like a deja vu moment walking through this old dame of a pharmacy in "EL-EHHH"...I just can't explain the SoCal feel, but it's definitely there, and I know cuz I'm a NorCal gal.
