Now feels very modern and gray, not really matching the vibe of the food they serve well, but that's not a huge deciding factor for me at least. You order at the counter then sit yourself and wait for your name to be called. I got the bacon cheeseburger and jalapeño cheese fries. My dad got the chicken club with fries. My burger was good, the patty was very thick and I wished there was a little more sauce. I personally really enjoyed the cheese fries, especially when I added in ranch! The prices are a bit high here. Definitely think you over pay for the experience (aka not having a server and having to pick up your own food), but I have no complaints about the food! Overall, you should give Brew-Bachers a try if you are wanting to try (or retry) their classic American food! read more

Craved gumbo, and someone recommended Brew-Bacher's to me. A customer said that everything was good. I wound up going with what was recommended to me and got a cup of gumbo with sensation salad. The salad was good with a nice dressing, but it could have had a stronger ginger taste. I got a usual beer on tap too. The gumbo was delicious with a good amount of protein. It's been forever since I had been to any Brewbacher's, and this one in particular, so I was excited when it was suggested for date night. I'd been craving a potato so I got the loaded/twice baked potato along with a small hamburger steak. I also got a side sensation salad, which was as good as I remembered. The potato was large, cheesy and filling. I really liked the "jus" on the hamburger steak as opposed to a thicker gravy. There was a nice helping of grilled onions for a different taste and texture and I appreciated the little bit of char on the hamburger steak. My hubs got the half and half poboy with shrimp and fish. He also got onion rings on the side, which I sampled. They were fried just right and did not taste like frozen run-of-the-mill onion rings. The interior has been remodeled/upgraded since my last visit. It's clean, perhaps almost a little bit too sterile for my taste,, but a nice change from the old. The service was attentive and friendly. If I have a negative, it's that some items seem to be priced a bit high. $3.50 for a fountain drink is pretty steep to me, as is $6 for a side of onion rings. I know food prices are soaring, but it just seems high to me. Perhaps it was to offset the lower cost of the poboy--which, conversely, I did find to be a good value. I have tried this place four times before making a review. The girls I work with love their salads! We joke abt it bc everyone has to wait until payday to go, bc their salads are like $20. I've tried their gumbo, shrimp po boy, French dip, and hamburger . Parking is absolutely terrible. My anxiety is 110% going just bc of that. EVERYTHING I've had is so dry, it makes me cough choke. It's been quite some time since I reviewed this location and I have been at this location many many dozens of times for lunch and dinner--I no longer see the issue which caused the low rating from that review--also, the food has always been great---whether it's 1 of the daily lunch specials (red beans and rice on Mondays, chicken fried steak on Tuesdays, hamburger steak on Wednesdays, spaghetti and meatballs on Thursdays or a fried fish topped with crawfish tails on Fridays) or something of the menu the food has always been high quality with freshness and flavor which had me returning. Sandwiches, burgers, salads, pasta, platters etc with comforting sides, Brewbachers has it---you order when you arrive, pay for your food and go find a table---when your order is ready, your name is called and you Geaux get it--the staff is friendly and usually efficient asp service is great and it's a relaxing atmosphere where you enjoy your meal---this is supported as I have noticed many regulars coming a certain day of week or sometimes daily. This wasn't the best place to meet my sister to catch up when she was in town for a few days. We were expecting the ambiance of the other Brew-Bacher's we'd been to but the grays and dark grays that dominated this locations made it feel cold and sterile.I get it, it was the in color palette for a while. My niece's house looks the same way and I was even talked into choosing that color for my kitchen floor when I had it redone; But, for a casual dining restaurant, the flare of the other location is a little more to my taste. This location has more of a sports bar and that may be what you're looking for so great, it's for you. There were a lot of people in there enjoying their evening. Lots of families with kids. Even babies. So don't even listen to me. It's working for them. What I think really turned us off was how loud the volume was of whatever football game was playing. I mean, it was BLARING. My sister joked that they probably turned it up so loud so the parents don't have to listen to the crying babies. At least on game night, this wouldn't be the place to go to if you want to have conversations with the people on your table, but perfect if you are very interested in the game. Also, don't worry about missing the action. I've never seen so many TVs in a place. Literally lining exterior walls. Think Best Buy! What was great were the servers behind the counter taking our order. I arrived before my sister did and the young lady back there was extremely helpful, personable and friendly. Suggested items and told me what was good and not good. The second employee was also very friendly and personable when I picked up the order once it was ready. So customer service there is phenomenal. Whoever trained those people did an amazing job. Get this though. When you check out on the card reader -- if you go to any restaurant or business, you might know that people are tip crazy not just at places like this, but simple things where you don't have to even deal with anyone. I understand because things have changed and everything is so much more expensive now. When you go to run your card and they ask you to place a tip, the starting option is now 22% and goes up from there significantly instead of having 18% as the base amount and 22% in the middle as the option. These people deserve the tip so I just ended up tipping them in cash, but that should be noted since that was the first time I've seen that as the choices. How was the food? I got a bacon cheeseburger and my sister got a taco salad. She had no complaints about her taco salad and I had no complaints about my burger. Good food. Nothing out of the ordinary. Prices were amazing. For my burger that came with fries and I ordered a drink as well was $15. When you consider that a Meal from McDonald's is also $15. That was a great deal. That's probably the reason there were so many families there that night. It won't break the bank for a family dinner at this place. I can say that if I lived closer to that area, I would go back but it's nothing to drive all over creation to go see. Great for the locals. Absolutely disappointed. I don't understand how this restaurant is still open. Ordered a large onion rings. The onions were not pealed before cutting and cooking. So could not even bite into the leather like rings. See picture. The food is always delicious here, tad over priced though. $60 for 2 meals. My family and I have been coming here for over 20 years and it has definitely changed over the years. After the renovation we saw that the employees got even younger and obviously cared a lot less. While my father and I tried to sit down to eat we discovered that every single table except for the 10 top was filthy with cups and food still sitting there. No one was cleaning! This is the second time this has happened to us!!! I was shocked as a former restaurant manager. My dad and I had to move a tray so we could sit. I told the young girls up front, they apologized but turned away to keep chatting. Another employee asked for the busser to come out but no one did. And then another came out and asked then the busser finally came. Cleaned half the tables and left the rest. The back area was a mess. I mean where was the manager??? Probably sitting in the office doing nothing not managing. Obviously the owners need to do something or the quality of the restaurant is going to keep going down. Soooo yeah, Brew-Bacher's Grill. They have closed down three locations, ones temporary I think because of a fire. Anyway, it's a fun place to go because there's a bunch of TVs all set on sports it's big and open room to walk around without bumping into tables. You walk up to the countertop order, they have a varied menu with a good selection of burgers, all half a pound. Julie loves their tater skins, but they were out this time. I got the Mexican burger Julie got a kids burger and we scarfed them down. The place is clean and there's a bar over on one side. It gets busy here so be prepared for a wait sometimes. read more

Probably the biggest choices of menu items are the sandwiches! They have a wide variety of hearty ones. My favorite is probably the Natural Club, which adds sprouts and avocados to the classic club, and it includes fries. Burgers are great, as is the old fashioned Patty Melt. Brew Bacher's no doubt has the best French Fries in Baton Rouge, these go great with sandwiches of course, but instead you can have a side salad or potato salad. They also have some great dinner platters and plate lunches. The daily special is always a good choice, a homestyle filling meal that will satisfy your hunger. Then there are the classic Brew Bacher's Plates. The Chicken Drusilla is a local favorite, and includes fries and a salad. Maybe you want something lighter? Their soup and salad choices are just the thing! A bowl of Gumbo, Chili, or soup of the day with a salad can be had for less than ten bucks. The Bluebonnet Brew-Bacher's is conveniently located just south of Perkins Road, and is in its own large building with plenty of parking. It is relatively close to I-10, so travelers through the region could exit and get to it with little trouble. Okay so I have not been to a Brew-Bachers in many years, and the last one I went to was down in Ascension parish. This was my first visit to the one on Bluebonnet. I was craving a club sandwich and didn't feel like driving out to denham springs. Based on the reviews I saw online Brew-Bacher's had gotten good recommendations for their club sandwich so decided to give them a try. Well, skip the sweet potato fries. While waiting for my meal I saw other people picking up their various plates at the counter and their regular potato fries looked good, however when the plate came with my club sandwich I noticed two things right off the bat. One, sweet potato fries were extra small portion and super limp to the point of being like little wet rags. Two, I had paid extra for more bacon on my sandwich which was missing. I pointed the bacon issue to the clerk at the counter and she immediately had the kitchen staff provide extra bacon. You'll see that in the photo in the side dish. For that I give them extra points because not only did they follow up when the error was mentioned, but gave much more bacon then would have normally been added to the sandwich anyway. Unfortunately that's where the good points ended. One of the reasons that I love a good club sandwich is that I like the cool crispness of the cold cold cuts and lettuce next to the toasted bread. Together with whatever fries I order on the side - the contrast of hot and cold is refreshing, particularly on a hot summer day. However, my sandwich was warm throughout as if the cold cuts were hanging around the kitchen for a little while. The lettuce was minimal and not cold either. The bread on the sandwich was limp and had not been freshly toasted. It really felt as if the sandwich had been sitting out somewhere in the kitchen or on a counter for a while before they called my name for pickup. This restaurant does not have table service so once you place your order at the counter, you have to wait until they call your name to come pick it up. I was very prompt in picking up my order when my name was called so it wasn't sitting out on the pick up counter due to my being late, the issue was them not calling my name when the plate was prepared- or it being put on the side in the kitchen to call for pickup after some other order. If it's this kitchen's policy to call patrons for pickup in the order their placed by patrons, as opposed to when the plate prepared and ready for pickup, then that needs to be changed. Someone's plate should not suffer from sitting around due to the kitchen having prepared it more quickly than another plate ordered earlier but delayed because it may take more time for a particular dish. The taste of the club sandwich was not exactly bad, but it was nothing to rave about either and certainly not great. No one should have to suffer from a limp sandwich and fries. Not sure if I will be willing to give them another shot at this particular sandwich, although a club sandwich is by far my favorite to order out. The club sandwiches at 'Big Mike's ' and Denham Springs as far better. Again, the staff at the counter since there is no table service was friendly and engaging. They quickly took care of the bacon shortage when mentioned. But management definitely needs to talk to the cooks in the kitchen to get their timing of orders prepared correctly and not to hold back food once it's prepared. Many dishes, this club sandwich is a perfect example, are totally ruined by sitting around in the kitchen even if under a hot lamp. read more

I mostly take out so I can't really comment on the eat in service, but the restaurant is always busy at lunch time and the to go pickup is always very fast and friendly. I grew up on Brewbachers (on campus) and devour cheese fries, muffalettas, shrimp poboys, etc etc. Very much casual comfort food that I'm down for any day of the week. I've been here over a hundred times over the years as a result of others in the family along with in laws who enjoy the atmosphere/food spending a good bit of money. However, I will never set foot in this place again again as a result of the service i just received the other day. I had been working hard sweating a few minutes prior to walking in there installing some things in a yard down the street so i was hot and thirsty. I was turning down the next block from blew bachers on bluebonnet to drop something off so i just stopped in at blew bachers to get a large drink. I walked up to the counter with my card in my hand and i had some snot nose obviously priveliged little brat teenage girl who you could tell by the way she greeted me she was somebodies special little princess running the show because she looked at me as if i was a bumn for even being in there, i guess because i might of looked like i was sweating and working (thats because i was just one minute b4 i walked in there ). It wasnt a proper greeting, it was a look of omg what are you doing in here peasant. I said i just need a large drink. She grabbed a to go cup real fast and asked me what i wanted with that look of disgust on her face. I said i can get it over on my own from the machine. She handed me the cup and i went to hand her my card and she said no your good then motion with her hand kind of like sheeewww away lol. I was stunned. I said you sure , she replied yeah im sure. We ended up here after stopping at a more popular place across the street. Tired from a long day and not wanting to search for some other place, we ventured in. We were disappointed that it was an order at the counter then seat yourself and get your own drinks and silverware kind of a place but all of that didn't matter when the food came! He ordered the special which was friend catfish with crawfish etouffe over it and a stuffed potato. It was SOOOO good!! I ordered the creamy penne pasta with grilled shrimp and it too was delicious! Let me start out by saying the staff here is absolutely amazing - they are so friendly and accommodating. But over the past year or so, this locations food has gone downhill. When dining first opened back up, my friends and I wanted to support local businesses and tried time and time again here but my hamburger steak was the last straw. I'm not sure where to begin but I've never in my life had hamburger steak with broth poured over the top.
