I saw this place posted in the "support MoCo" Facebook page during COVID 19 and it sparked my interest! A lot of reviews indicated that they have great cheesesteaks, and I also noticed that they had cheese curds on the menu. Considering my husband is from Philly and I am from Minneapolis I knew that the bar would be set high for the cheesesteaks and curds. I will say, the cheese curds were some of the best I've had outside the Midwest! They use actual curds of cheese and the batter wasn't too overpowering. They weren't that poet gooey by the time we got them home but I'm sure they would be even better once we can eat in again! My husband approved of the cheesesteaks. He is of the mindset that the bread is the key part of a good cheesesteak and they did not disappoint! Portions are big and everything we tried was tasty. Great place to grab a bite to eat! I saw a sign out front that said "$15 lunch special! Cheesesteak, fries, and craft beer. I instantly stopped and grew even more intrigued as my name is Yeti and they have Bigfoot out front and they have a lot of Maryland flag things. You walk in it's a very relaxed comfy setting and I was spoken to before I could even place both of my feet inside the door. The lunch special involves 9 doffing cheesesteaks or you can do a build your own. Along with those cheesesteaks you have an option of 21 different beers. They also offer different ciders that are uniquely flavored such as the Red Sherman blueberry cobbler cider which is cider made with blueberries, cinnamon, and vanilla. They offer trivia on Tuesdays and bingo on Wednesdays. The customer service is great and Aiden was very friendly helpful and knowledgeable. Extremely friendly staff greeted and accommodated my desire to dine here with a small child. He was kind enough to offer to bring foos to outdoor seating area. As for the Steak-n-Cheese, there's a lot of option and topping available. I opted for provolone w/ bacon for my sandwich. The bread was soft and perfect for accommodating my requested toppings. As with other reviews, the salt on the fries are too much leaving a little burning sensation in the mouth. Overall, if you're in the area get it. About a 2-2.5: We had come to check out Brew Belly, as we had heard about their poutine. Their menu also offers various cheesesteaks, pretzels, sausages, hot dogs, shareables, and bowls. We ordered: +a Wiz-Wit cheesesteak - this came with Velveeta cheddar cheese sauce and fried onions +a Poutine Classique - house-cut fries topped with brown gravy and cheddar cheese curds +Hill Country Sausage - jalapeno-cheddar sausage with fried onions and house mustard The food was okay; the cheesesteak becomes soggy super quick, so make sure you eat that first; there was a generous amount of steak and cheese sauce. The bread itself could have been better, as it was a little dry. The hand-cut fries could have been seasoned, and the gravy was fine; the cheese curds were cold and sponge-like. My fiancé and I placed an order to pickup about 2 weeks ago to try Brew Belly for the first time. We were excited to try a new place but was surprised to see the prices for the appetizers. How are fries more expensive than the actual cheesesteak? We ordered the boardwalk fries, moco cheesesteak, and the route 108 cheesesteak. The fries were ok... I don't think they're worth the $12 price tag. We asked for some free extras like lettuce, hots, etc in both our cheesesteaks but came home to see that our extra toppings were missing... the cheesesteaks in general tasted good though. The aftermath was the worst part. Both has constant bathroom runs after the meal. I probably wouldn't be coming back. They're somewhat overpriced, they can't get the orders right, and our stomachs didn't agree with the food. read more

I should start by saying I'm originally from Philly and a bit of a cheesesteak snob. This place gets it right on a lot of levels! Amoroso rolls, good, shaved ribeye meat, and equally respectful of the provolone and whiz styles of cheesesteaks. They also do amazing fruits and have a tremendous rising net selection. I have ALWAYS been a provolone cheesesteak gal, but this place has converted me with their Whiz-Wit. My carnivore husband also just learned that for an up-charge, they do a double meat - so that's happening every time from now on. Firstly- the lunch special here is unparalleled. A sandwich, fries, and a beer for $15. Can't really think of any place (other than maybe a chain) that you get so much value in a meal. I've had two of their sandwich's so far: The Seoul Style- (I've even had them change our steak for chicken), awesome flavor pallet and twist on a philly classic. Chicken- plain and simple for those traditionalists out there (it's ok some of us like a safe choice). I plan to eat my way through the whole menu, but just know you can't really go wrong. As someone who hails from Philly, let me give you some cheesesteak advice. Use shaved ribeye. The cuts you use are tough, grisly and too fatty. In a real Philly cheesesteak you should never, never need to chew your meat or come across a piece of solid fat. The meat should not be overly greasy. Next, use a solid roll. Anyone from Philly feels passionately about their roll, whether on a hoagie or cheesesteak. It should not have the texture of a firm hot dog bun. It should be crusty on the outside and softer on the interior. You may not have easy access to good Italian rolls in Maryland, but it really makes a huge difference. I like all your creative options for a cheesesteak but without the right meat and a roll, I can't stomach it. Other than that, you have good fries, beer, and a nice ambiance. I rode 32 miles round trip to get here and back and it was totally worth it. I lived in Olney quite a ways back and there was nothing like Brew Belly at that time. What a great combination of progressive, adventurous gastropub food, a solid selection of local state microbrews, and some of the friendliest staff I've encountered. For my first meal there, I went with the Wiz-Wit cheesesteak with some hot peppers and extra mayo. It was straight fire, one of the very best I've ever had. The cheddar Velveeta Wiz sauce was molten, the steak succulent and sizzling with flavor, and the authentic Amoroso roll warm and just the right balance of a crispy, toasty exterior and soft interior. Superb. I had one of their drafts, an amber IPA, and it paired well perfectly. Emily and Aidan were great to chat with, and I look forward to meeting more of the staff in future visits. read more

1st off this is more like a bar and not a restaurant. It is very loud inside, so forget having a conversation with your group, unless you want to be like everyone else and scream so everyone can hear your conversation. There is no table service, you go up to the counter to order & they bring your order to your table. The food is ok nothing impressive. Although I thought the Brussels sprouts were delicious and fries your typical boardwalk fries the cheesesteak is below average. The cheesesteak was dry and flavorless. There was definitely more bread than filling. They tired to use a better type of meat than a typical cheesesteak, but they over cooked it so it was just dry and tasteless. I think they have a good beer/wine list, but I didn't see it since I came for the food. Another downside is the parking lot is very small and you have to park far away and walk. read more

Brew Belly is a nice addition to Olney. Parking can be a little rough in the small lot in front of the establishment, but there's other lots across the street with plenty of parking. Staff was super friendly and I liked the laid back atmosphere. It's open seating, with quite a few tables (seats 2 or 4) and several longer, high tables that you might end up sharing with strangers (great way to meet new people!). You order your drinks and food at the counters to the right when you walk in. Grab your beverage and your food is delivered to you. While you wait, get a board game to play (great to keep your little ones entertained as well). They are located on a shelf in the back of the restaurant. Brew Belly has a large selection of craft beers on top (I believe it's 24) all from local breweries. They also have wine and sometimes a cocktail (available until sold out). Prices are definitely reasonable. They also offer a variety of snacks, poutine, and cheesesteaks for those who are hungry. To eat we decided to share the Route 108 cheesesteak and Brew Belly poutine. Food arrived rather quickly, and everything was nice and hot. The cheesesteak was pretty good. The ribeye was tender and had good flavor to it. I couldn't taste the ale in the onions (just tasted like regular onions to me), but liked how the cheesesteak wasn't swimming in cheese sauce. The fries and maple bacon were also a nice touch. Loved the roll, which was super soft. The poutine was good as well. Glad we decided to share it as it's pretty filling and heavy. Tons of cheese curds and you can taste the rosemary in the gravy. I washed my food down with DuClaw's Funk, which was refreshing and had a nice hint of blueberry to it. They have TVs if you want to watch games and plenty of board games as well. You order at the bar and a runner brings out your food. Only kinda annoying thing is it has one of those credit card machines with suggested tips and the suggestions start at 18%. Really? It's not table service, there are no waiters, 10% - 15% is more than fair when you're ordering at the counter and getting your own condiments and silverware. Yes, you can say "other" and enter your own amount but it's awkward to do with the bartender staring at you while you finish. Sorry for that rant. The new "suggested tip" thing is a pet peeve, and BB isn't the only one guilty of suggesting higher than fair values on their machines. I'll continue to come back here when I swing through. Cheese steaks are about $10, as are the Brussel sprouts. Fries were $6. They also have poutine and other apps. It's pub food for the most part. You can also get the cheese steaks on top of arugula which is a nice option if you're watching carbs. Makes for a nice salad. Also, if you don't like the taps, just grab a single from the fridge! Was craving a decent cheeseteak. Being a Washingtonian, there's only one place back home that has a good one. My mom told me about this place because of their beer selection. So, I was minding my own business the other day on YouTube when the Food Insider popped up in my recommendations with a video about the best poutine in Montreal. I was about to skip the video, but then I thought to myself. Hmm, those look like fries. Anyway, within moments I just new I had to have this mixture of fries, gravy, and cheese curds. But since travel isn't allowed due to corona, I hoped somewhere local made this dish. Fortunately, Brew Belly does, and they are only about 15 minutes away. The next nearest place (per Yelp) is over 30 miles from me here in Gaithersburg. I was happy to find this place for a few reasons. In addition to being able to try the poutine, they had beer and wine, which already made them a winner in my book, but then I saw that their menu had a real Philly style cheesesteak (or steak and cheese if you're one of those people) made with cheese whiz-like sauce! I have been longing for one for a few weeks, and it looked like this spot was going to be able to knock a few things off my list of wants. The location has it's own parking lot with lots of spaces event though 3 or 4 of them are dedicated to pick-up orders. Masks and social distancing were in play at the location. When I stepped in, besides the employees, there was only one person inside at noon on a Sunday. Even when a few customers came in, there was more than enough room to keep a safe distance. The employees (I feel weird not knowing their names) were welcoming and two of them said hello when I entered. I shared with them my story of YouTube poutine, and they chuckled with me. I asked for a recommendation and they recommended to go all out and get the Brew Belly version of poutine that came with gravy, cheese curds, and cheese sauce. I got the Whiz-wit cheesesteak, and then I headed over to get a coke, and some beer to wash it down with. When I got to the beer section, I knew I was in trouble. This place had classy beers, so I was out of my league. I won't share all of the types of beer I'm used to, but let's just say I look for Mike's Harder Lemonade first. I'd decided to go with a vodka soda (watermelon) and then I saw come drinks in to-go containers that appeared to be cocktails. I practically ran to the counter to confirm. Yup, cocktails. I was informed that one container was about 4 drinks. Once they confirmed the container was $15, I was sold. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, for me, eating there was not a possibility, and it was rainy so eating outdoors wasn't an option either. Fortunately, the food held up for my drive back to Gaithersburg. When I got home, the food was still warm. The poutine was very good. I didn't know what to expect, but I could describe it as kind of being like soft french fries in gravy, and you can't really go wrong with potatoes and gravy. Although some people will be upset and judge my character, I did not get fried onions on my cheesesteak, but I did add lettuce, tomato, and mayo. I avoided adding ketchup because I knew I'd be writing this review, and some people are very judgemental about adding ketchup to a cheesesteak...even when they aren't paying for it. Nobody wants those unnecessary problems. Good experience. Good customer service. Good cocktail. I went with the berry lemonade, but they also had margaritas, orange crush (I think that was what it was called), and as proof of fanciness, they had several with cucumber and/or hibiscus. Wow, just wow. I'm from near Canada originally and have not seen a poutine that has compared until now! The dry rub wings were so crispy that my go to spot ( outta the way cafè) might have a little competition. We had to try the MD poutine which didn't disappoint either. The fries I ordered were delicious,I could not finish them but they put boxes that you can take to save your food for later, which is really good. Located right in the heart of Olney, this is is great place to grab a good beer. They had many options to choose from, either to sit and drink there or you could grab a six pack and take it home. I believe they also do whiskey tastings if that's your thing. The food was also good. I split the Seoul style cheesesteak, blind pig poutine and Brussels with the people I went with. This place seems to attract families, so if you have kids it could be a potential outing. I've found that this place is very hit or miss. It may be because I'm from Philly but I've had a few of the cheesesteaks and they've just been okay. Not bad but nothing that makes me want to run back and get it again. The starters however are SO GOOD. Basically anything they do with cheese curds is genius. I've driven by "Brew Belly" a few times. I'll be honest, I thought they had replaced the old liquor store with a new one, and hardly glanced at it while driving by. Then, one day, I drove by and they had a sign outside advertising cheesesteaks. Up until fairly recently, Jerry's was across the street from Brew Belly. It used to be a frequent stop for me for lunch. Yea, yea, yea, don't judge. Jerry's is fast food, and they're definitely not on the same playing field as Brew Belly's, but its an okay spot to stop for a quick bite on a lunch break. I was literally thinking that I was sad they were gone, and could go for a cheesesteak when I saw Brew Belly's sign. Kismet. Bashert. Lunch! The inside of Brew Belly is a lot like what you'd expect from the outside. There are coolers housing beer along the back wall, as well as a really awesome selection of meads. There's a scattering of tables to your left, and to the right, a bar, where you order, and can sit and eat. The bartender was incredibly friendly and helpful. The menu has some standard pub fare on it, but it also has a huge selection of cheesesteaks. I don't know if the menu was designed by someone from Wisconsin or Michigan, but they've snuck some local flavour onto the menu from there. You'll find poutines, and ... are you sitting down? You should be sitting down. Cheese. Curds. I visited a good friend in Wisconsin a few months ago. We had cheese curds at every single meal, and literally did a cheese curd tour of Madison. I know good cheese curds, and Brew Belly has good cheese curds. I followed this up with the "Whiz," their apparently most popular cheesesteak. Its homemade cheese-whiz over steak, with onions, on a white roll. The steak was good, but the cheese wasn't something I really enjoyed -- it tasted a little too "cheese whiz" and less "cheese" for me. Some people like that -- the guy sitting next to me (who recommended it) really liked it, but ... next time, I'll get one with other cheese! I'll definitely be back next time in the area for lunch. Tried this place twice now and was really impressed both times! I got the Moco cheesesteak with the brew Nelly poutine and both items were delicious. The meat in the sandwich tasted fresh and seasoned and the poutine was very flavorful. Both dishes were large so you could even share it with another person and have plenty. They also carry the boyland colas and I got the cherry one which was a great addition to my meal. The service has always been friendly and fast. One of the best, ok the best, place to grab a beer and a bite in Olney. The beer selection is just amazing, they have something for everyone and it is all local, Maryland specific but DC sneaks in every once in a while. I think around 20 options on draft and a whole bunch more by the can, probably around 70 other options. The food hits the mark they are aiming for, great cheesesteaks, amazing poutine, don't sleep on the wings, and some solid vegetarian options (my wife loves the cauliflower "wings"). The staff is always very, very friendly and quick with a recommendation or a sample. Also, if you are a whiskey/bourbon lover, this place has one of the best selections you will find in the state. I shit you not, in the state. I drink a lot of whiskey, and they have some great options I hadn't tried before as well as hard to find stuff (Wellers, EH Taylor, etc..). They have also recently added a really nice outdoor section so if you are still trying to avoid being inside not a problem. You order at the counter, start a tab, and then food gets brought to you. Now, if you've ever had the original Philadelphia cheesesteak, you're in for a great treat as this closely resembles every bit of the classic. Nothing pretentious, just three main simple ingredients. Thinly sliced, well seasoned steak, a cascading lava of melted Velveeta cheese sauce and a fresh, soft and crispy bun. I'm usually in the area to visit one of my closest friends in college. One day I'll tell her the truth that I sometimes use her as an excuse to visit Brew Belly. This place is probably my go-to for cheat days as they have two of my most beloved foods - cheesesteaks and poutines. They do a damn fine job of making the unadulterated forms of both, but they also push the boundaries a bit with a Korean style cheesesteak or a crab poutine. I will 100% keep the sandwiches or their arugula saladed cousins for myself, but I definitely recommend sharing the fries with a couple peeps - think it justifies the price a bit more and they go well with beers. Speaking of, taps have a pretty great selection, with an impressive refrigerator sections for to-gos. And in this crisis, they have both wines and pre-made cocktails, such as a jalapeño marg or one that's peanut butter and jelly inspired. After my bestie found this place, of course I looked it up on Yelp. The first pic that I saw was the brussel sprouts. We totally ordered that as an appetizer and it was AMAZING!!! We also enjoyed the half priced wine at the bar. If you didn't know, this place is kind of set up like a store/bar/eatery (that specializes in cheese steaks). I didn't get to look at the selection in their coolers but it stretched out the length of their long wall so I know that there were alot of choices. For dinner, my bestie tried the 'Wiz' cheesesteak and I tried the Seoul style. I don't know why I always end up trying something off the wall, but I'm glad that I did. The Seoul style came with provolone cheese, ale onions, quick pickles and gochujang mayo. It also comes with mushrooms that I opted out of. This sandwich had a mix of spicy, savory and sweetness which was the perfect balance. The portions are also decent size. I ended up getting full and just eating the inside out of the roll.
