The store has shorter hours than the truck and the truck can't sell fries or certain other items, but the sandwiches are still amazing!

WINGS, WINGS, WINGS along with their Greek Cobb is my "go to" when I have lunch at Olney Station…read more BTW, their wings on Wednesdays are half price! The service is wonderful with cheerful waiters treating you like an old friend. Tables of friends meet for lunch and spend time enjoying their lunches and catching up. I have never been there in the evening, preferring the quiet of the lunch hour. The owner comes over and talks to customers. It is a totally enjoyable experience!

When you walk in, you get the feeling that this is a place that has been around for a while. The bar is a nice size and is the first thing you see when you walk in. There are lots of booths throughout the restaurant, along with a large circular booth in the back. We were seated in an area where they had tables put together for the group from the service. Because we were there with the group, we were given a smaller menu with a limited selection rather than the restaurant's regular menu. I did get a chance to look around when I went to the restroom, and there were quite a few people eating. I noticed several people had ordered the fried chicken, and it looked really good. If we are ever back in the area, that's definitely something I'd like to try. My wife had a pasta dish with vegetables, and I ordered the Olney Grill Sandwich, which had ham, turkey, tomato and American cheese, grilled and served with potato salad. The sandwich was okay. I didn't have my glasses with me, so I couldn't read the menu very well. I don't care for American cheese, otherwise I probably would have ordered something different. My favorite is hot pastrami, and I would have ordered that, but the menu said it came on rye bread. My brother-in-law ordered it, and he said it actually came on pumpernickel. Overall, the service was great. The gentleman taking care of our group did an excellent job. I don't think anyone had to ask him for anything--or at least very rarely. He kept everything moving and made sure everyone was taken care of. We didn't get to experience the full regular menu because of the limited menu offered to our group, but from what I saw, the restaurant had a good number of people dining and the food coming out looked very good. If you're ever in the Olney area, I'd definitely recommend stopping in and giving Olney Grill a try.

But there's a pattern here that keeps me from giving a higher rating, and today it crossed a line. For a spot charging $7+ for a bagel with cream cheese, the policy of charging extra for a to-go cup with ice and a lid has always felt petty. Today it got worse. I asked for an extra cup & lid for ice before being rung up, and the employee wrongly assumed I wanted a simple water cup. When I clarified, instead of extending a small courtesy to a regular customer, he stopped and ran a separate credit card transaction for $2.65, the full price of a beverage, for an empty cup. I had already paid for my bottled beverage. It's not solely about the money. It's about what that gesture communicates to your customer. A $0.25 cup given as a goodwill gesture goes a long way. A separate $2.65 charge for an empty cup does the opposite. The food and early open time will keep bringing me back. But management should keep in mind that it's the small things that turn regulars into occasional visitors.

There was a very chocolate cake (prettier than it tasted) and a key lime tart that was OK (and very tart). I bought 2 elephant ears and should have returned them. Very disappointed. They were huge and looked light and flaky, which fooled me as they were very dense and hard. Inedible. I threw them away. Not thrilled with myself for that and my company was disappointed. I bought 2 bagels which were good and chewy and fresh, thank goodness. My overall opinion is that I spend more than $40 on things that were prettier than they tasted or went to the trash. Stick with their bagels and perhaps their sandwiches (which seemed popular).

I've ordered here quite a few times over the past several months…read more My go-to is the Birria Tacos which is their specialty. It comes with consommé which is a delicious Mexican (presumably beef) stew seasoned with guajillo Mexican peppers and other things. My last order which fed the whole family was the Taco Tray which is 15 Birria Tacos w/ cheese and toppings and four consommés for $58. It's now available to order online. It's a large, complicated order and it takes a bit of time to put it together, so be patient. You get the tacos and also a split sauteed onion and a few grilled serrano peppers laid on top of the tin foil tray sealed tight. The sliced cold toppings which include a huge number of really juicy lime quarters are in a separate container and then the four hot consume containers with plastic spoons are separate as well. There is also a container of chopped red onion & fresh cilantro. Also, homemade chilled red and green hot sauce packets. The tacos and consume are piping hot and stay hot all the way home. The chilled toppings stay chilled. Everything sealed tight, no spillage. So you get home and spread everything out on your table. Tacos and consume are still steaming. Grab a taco, add the chilled toppings to the taco and also some of the chopped onions & cilantro, add a healthy squirt of fresh lime juice, add some hot sauce if you wish, add a grilled onion slice or grilled serrano slice if you wish, then dip the taco into the consume (birria stew). Then bite into the dripping taco. It's a kaleidoscope of flavors that seem to come to you in waves. Each flavor is distinct. Every bite is a thrill. You've never experienced anything like this. Better than sushi! It's a happy feast for four people, three people, or even five people! Highly recommended. See photos. Please see my prior review below...
